Citizens of Trego County:
One of the most difficult issues with electing judges is that the majority of the community has no idea how they are doing. Being a judge is not an easy job, and not everyone should be trusted with the position. In my line of work, I get the same questions repeatedly from clients and citizens of the community.
“Is the judge doing their job?
“Does the judge know the law?”
“Is the judge fair?”
“Is the judge a good representative of the community?”
With Richard Hanks, the answer to all of those questions is the same: Yes.
Judge Hanks has done an admirable job since taking the bench. With his experience in law enforcement, he knows most of the relevant law, and what law he doesn’t know, he knows how to find and find quickly. He treats everyone that appears in front of him fairly and with respect. He applies the law as it should be applied, which, in my opinion, is the single most important job of a judge.
I’m not surprised that Judge Hanks has done the job the right way. He knows he has a serious job, is a loyal public servant, and represents the Trego County community with dignity.
On Nov. 3, I would encourage you to vote for Richard Hanks. You know what you are getting with Judge Hanks, and what you’re getting matches everything a good judge should be.
