Weekend snow storm leads to sliding vehicles in Hays

 Snow in Hays during the weekend led law enforcement to respond to several accidents.

Hays Police Lt. Brandon Wright said officers responded to four accidents involving vehicles sliding into one another. One incident saw a vehicle hitting a sign when going through a roundabout on Vine Street.

He said no injuries were reported.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office reported one crash after a vehicle slid off the road and went over a box culvert. Two people were taken to Hays Medical Center with minor injuries.

Hays set two record lows during the weekend, reaching -15 overnight on Saturday and Sunday. The K-State Ag Research Center reported 5 inches of snow during the weekend. Hays has received 8 inches of snow for the season.

Today's high is forecast at 31, with a low of 10. Sunny skies are expected on Wednesday, with a slight chance of snow returning starting Thursday.
