Hays set two record lows during the weekend, reaching -15 overnight on Saturday and Sunday.
The former overnight low on Saturday night into Sunday was -10 set in 1957. The previous record for the overnight low Sunday into Monday was also -10 set in 1940.
The K-State Ag Research Center reported 5 inches of snow during the weekend. Hays has received 8 inches of snow for the season.
The snow accounted for .49 inches of precipitation. Hays averages .5 inches of precipitation in January and has received 1.34 inches this month.
Hays is still under a cold weather advisory through noon today. The high is forecast to be 28 degrees with wind gusts up to 31 mph.
The high on Tuesday is forecast to be 32, with a high of 44 on Wednesday.
