GEARY COUNTY—The Kansas Highway Patrol has identified the woman trapped in her car overnight after a crash that occurred just after 11:30p.m. Sunday on Interstate 70 in Geary County.

According to the Patrol, a 2023 Ford Edge driven by Rhonda L. Moore, 65, Wise, Virginia, was westbound on Interstate 70 just west of Humboldt Creek Road.

The SUV traveled off the road into the north ditch and rolled onto on its top.&nbsp; A passing motorist finally saw the SUV just before 8a.m. Monday and called for help. EMS transported Moore to Stormont Vail for treatment of serious injuries. She was properly restrained, according to the KHP.

The KHP is working to determine exactly when the crash occurred.&nbsp; First responders were notified just after 8a.m. Monday.

"Geary County first responders were first on the scene, quickly working to assess the situation, provide medical care, and begin the initial response."

"As daylight broke, the wreckage finally became visible to a passing motorist, who made the call that set everything into motion. With EMS, fire crews, and KHP working together, Life Star was called in to airlift the woman to a hospital."

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Trump signed a measure on Monday to end the Biden-enra methane fee on oil and gas producers.

The measure, approved by Republican majorities in the House and Senate, eliminates a federal fee on companies that&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/science-texas-trending-news-climate-and-environment-0eb6880f7c4532a845155a3bd44c2e4be-epa-climate-biden-oil-gas-5020fdf48c51918d42176e0a4f6093dd">release high levels of methane</a>, a&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/methane-satellite-monitoring-ghgsat-climate-change-c5bdd53058cdcbf0c83a6a1080398222">planet-warming “super pollutant.”</a>

The fee, which hadn’t gone into effect, was expected to bring in more than $7 billion over the next decade and lower U.S. methane emissions, averting thousands of early deaths and tens of thousands of asthma attacks and lost school days every year.

Methane is a much stronger global warming gas than carbon dioxide, especially in the short term. Oil and gas producers are among the biggest U.S. methane emitters.

Trump has more good news for oil and gas producers

The Sedgwick County Zoo announced on Monday that 29-year-old African elephant Simunye, delivered a stillborn calf following a healthy, full-term pregnancy, according to a social media report from the zoo.

 The Zoo community, staff, and elephant herd alike are mourning this devastating loss. This would have marked the first elephant born at Sedgwick County Zoo in its 54-year history.

 The monumental journey of Simunye's 22-month pregnancy ended in heartbreak on Friday, despite the expert care provided by the elephant care and veterinary teams. 

Regular prenatal exams and behavioral observations indicated that both mom and calf were healthy with no sign of complications throughout the entire gestational term. 

Simunye began showing signs of active labor early Thursday morning while the care team watched remotely to allow for the most natural birthing environment. She delivered her calf Friday afternoon and despite her best attempts to assist, it showed no signs of movement. 

Other members of the herd surrounded Simunye throughout labor, and continued to provide support throughout the night as they grieved the loss together. The calf, a female, was named Malaika, which means “angel” in Swahili.&nbsp;

“This is a time of extreme sadness for the entire Zoo family, “ said Scott Newland, President and CEO of Sedgwick County Zoo. “We were so excited to welcome a new member to the herd, and the entire pregnancy progressed exactly as it should have. Unfortunately though, not all pregnancies end in healthy births and we don’t always get an answer as to why.”&nbsp;

A thorough necropsy has been conducted and determined that the calf died during the birthing process.

Simunye will continue to recover under the careful watch of the herd and the elephant care team. Elephants are extremely intelligent, social, and emotional animals, exhibiting strong bonds within their herd. They are known to provide support and comfort for one another through every birth, death, and each milestone in between.&nbsp;

“We know the deep connection our community has with our elephant herd, and we are grateful for your compassion, understanding, and support as we navigate this difficult time,” said Newland. “The team remains committed to providing the very best physical and emotional care for Simunye, as well as the rest of the herd as they process this unexpected loss.”

The Sedgwick County Zoo remains steadfast in its commitment to the preservation of African elephants in North America, actively participating in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ African Elephant Species Survival Plan. Four other elephants in Sedgwick County Zoo’s herd are expecting calves this year, and the team will continue to do everything they can to ensure healthy births for Talia, Arusi, Xolani, and Zuberi, while honoring the memory of the calf we so dearly hoped to welcome to the herd.

Devastating loss to elephant herd at Kansas zoo

WASHINGTON (AP) —Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin announced nearly three dozen deregulatory moves that he said would spur the U.S. economy by rolling back rules that have unfairly burdened industry. Many of the moves would affect landmark regulations aimed at protecting clean air and water.

Here’s a look at some of the 31 regulatory changes Zeldin announced:

Reconsider power plant emissions standards

The Biden administration&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/power-plants-coal-natural-gas-biden-epa-5c96ca146e7f70b47806beb4bc3713e6">set limits on planet-warming emissions</a>&nbsp;from existing gas and coal-fired power plants – a major step in the administration’s effort to reduce greenhouse gases from the heavily polluting energy sector. Trump has long opposed such tough, climate-friendly limits and has instead promoted oil and gas development. Zeldin said the agency would reconsider the Biden administration standards to avoid constraining energy production.

Reconsider toxic emission limits on power plants

Coal plants emit toxic metals like mercury and the Biden administration issued a rule&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/mercury-coal-epa-power-plant-health-9fc882da610ff750a91b7ac50ca33bd6">to severely limit those pollutants.</a>&nbsp;Officials at the time said technology had progressed enough for these plants to do better. The EPA on Wednesday said nearly two dozen states had sued, arguing the rule was costly and a major burden, especially to coal plants. They also considering offering industry a two-year compliance extension while officials reconsider the rule.

Reconsider wastewater rules for coal and other power plants

Hazardous metals like mercury and arsenic end up in the wastewater of steam-powered electric generating power plants like coal. These can have serious health effects including increasing cancer rates and lowering childhood IQ scores. The Biden administration tightened regulations of this wastewater. The EPA said it will revisit those “stringent” rules that are costly to industry and therefore may raise residential energy bills.

Currently, treated wastewater generated from oil and gas drilling can be used in limited ways in certain western lands, such as for agriculture. Environmentalists say there can be a broad range of contaminants in the wastewater, some of which might not be known. The EPA said it will reconsider those rules and look at how the treated water could be used for other purposes like cooling data centers, fighting fires and other ecological needs. They say the current rules are costly, old and don’t reflect the capabilities of modern treatment technologies.

Reconsider petrochemical emergency planning

The Biden administration tightened safeguards against accidents for industrial and chemical plants that millions of people live near. The agency’s risk management program added planning and reporting requirements for facilities and forced some to implement new safeguards. Accidents at these plants can be severe – a 2019 explosion at a Texas facility, for example, forced tens of thousands to evacuate, for example. Industry associations have criticized parts of the rule, such as requirements to publicly report sensitive information.

Zeldin said Biden administration officials “ignored recommendations from national security experts on how their rule makes chemical and other sensitive facilities in America more vulnerable to attack.” The EPA is reconsidering the rule.

Reconsidering greenhouse gas reporting requirements

The EPA said it was reconsidering its mandatory greenhouse gas reporting program, which requires thousands of major industrial polluters to tell the agency about its emissions. Zeldin said the “bureaucratic government program” costs hundreds of millions of dollars and doesn’t help air quality. Until now, the EPA said the data helped businesses compare their emissions to competitors and find opportunities to reduce them and lower costs.

Reconsider light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty vehicle regulations

Zeldin vowed to review his agency’s&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/epa-electric-vehicles-emissions-limits-climate-biden-e6d581324af51294048df24269b5d20a">emissions standards for cars and trucks</a>, calling the tightened emissions rules the “foundation for the Biden-Harris electric vehicle mandate.” Nothing the Biden administration implemented required automakers to make and sell EVs or for consumers to buy them. Loosening standards would allow vehicles to emit more planet-warming greenhouse gases, but many automakers have already been investing in making their vehicles more efficient.

Reconsider 2009 Endangerment Finding and regulations that rely on it

The scientific finding, under the 2009 Clean Air Act, determined that planet-warming greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare. It has been at the core of the nation’s action against climate change. Trump had already directed the EPA to consider the finding’s “legality” in an executive order. Experts say the impacts of climate change on human health and the environment are already clear, and that upending the finding would be devastating.

Reconsideration of technology transition rule

This program enforced strict rules to reduce the use of&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/hfc-refrigerant-chemical-air-conditioners-epa-ac01324c05ba5bf5f54bc794c1054296">hydrofluorocarbons</a>, highly potent and planet-warming greenhouse gases used in refrigerators, air conditioners, heat pumps and more. HFCs, as they are known, are thousands of times more powerful than carbon dioxide and leak through equipment that uses compressed refrigerants. Dozens of countries around the globe have pledged to slash their use and production of the chemicals.

This rule was intended to&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/supreme-court-epa-good-neighbor-air-pollution-ea23421c78999293267339faf4453cdb">limit air pollution by restricting</a>&nbsp;power plant smokestack emissions, and those from other industrial sites, across 11 states. Eliminating it would especially&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/epa-plan-would-limit-downwind-pollution-from-power-plants-b319d86b609aa149f58d4895be406bb2">impact downwind neighborhoods</a>&nbsp;that are burdened by pollution from ground-level ozone, or smog, that is out of their control. However, the Supreme Court had already put a hold on the rule&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/supreme-court-epa-good-neighbor-air-pollution-6665ba500aa2abb797bd9704e014909c">last summer,</a>&nbsp;ruling that states challenging it were likely to prevail.

Reconstitute Science Advisory Board and Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee

These seats have long been politicized given how influential they can be in setting national environmental policy. The board&nbsp;<a href="https://www.epa.gov/aboutepa/about-science-advisory-board-sab-and-sab-staff-office" target="_blank">reviews</a>&nbsp;“the quality and relevance of the scientific and technical information being used by the EPA or proposed as the basis for Agency regulations” and agency research programs. Congress directed the agency to establish the board to provide the Administrator science advice in 1978. The committee can give “independent advice” to the agency’s Administrator specific to the nation’s Ambient Air Quality Standards.

Reconsider Particulate Matter National Ambient Air Quality Standards

Power plants and industrial facilities release particulate matter, or soot, that can easily pass through a person’s lungs and into their bloodstream. Last year, the Biden administration tightened standards regulating soot in response to scientific research indicating existing regulations were insufficient. At the time,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.epa.gov/system/files/documents/2024-02/pm-naaqs-overview.pdf" target="_blank">the EPA estimated</a>&nbsp;its stronger regulations would save thousands of lives and prevent hundreds of thousands of cases of asthma and lost workdays annually. The Trump administration’s EPA says these regulations are “a major obstacle” for companies and that the U.S. has low levels of soot.

Reconsider national emission standards for air pollutants for American energy and manufacturing

These EPA standards apply to pollutants known or suspected to cause cancer, birth defects or other serious health problems. Industrial facilities are required to follow strict standards to monitor and limit the amount of these chemicals they release into the air. Last year, the EPA&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/epa-medical-devices-ethylene-oxide-sterilize-cancer-4b4399394b1be01023d400beb7cf3f9a">tightened standards surrounding ethylene oxide</a>&nbsp;emissions, a human carcinogen commonly used as a sterilizer for medical equipment. The Trump administration said it is considering a “2-year compliance exemption” for facilities affected by these standards, among others.

For decades, this EPA program has required states to reduce pollution that threatens scenic views in more than 150 national parks and wilderness areas, including in the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. Zeldin said that the U.S. has made strides in improving visibility in national parks and that the program is being used as justification for shutting down industrial facilities and threatening affordable energy.

The social cost of carbon is an EPA tool to weigh the economic costs and benefits of regulating polluting industries by putting a price tag on climate-warming carbon dioxide emissions – set at $190 per ton under the Biden administration’s EPA. That calculation is used in cost-benefit analyses, and was intended to account for greenhouse gas emissions’ impacts including natural disasters, crop damage, health problems and sea-level rise. Under the first Trump administration, carbon was pegged at around $5 per ton. An executive order Trump signed on his first day in office directs the EPA to consider eliminating this calculation entirely to advance his “Unleashing American Energy” policy.

Prioritizing coal ash program to expedite state permit reviews and update regulations

After coal is burned, ash filled with heavy pollutants including arsenic, lead and mercury is left behind and typically stored in giant pits under federal regulation. The EPA says it is now seeking to rapidly put regulation “more fully into state hands,” which environmental groups fear could lead to weaker standards. Last year, the Biden administration closed a gap that had allowed companies to avoid responsibility for cleaning up inactive coal ash pits – a policy that environmental groups say could now be repealed.

The EPA said it will revisit those “stringent” rules that are costly to industry and therefore may raise residential energy bills.</p><h2>New uses for oil and gas wastewater</h2><p>Currently, treated wastewater generated from oil and gas drilling can be used in limited ways in certain western lands, such as for agriculture. Environmentalists say there can be a broad range of contaminants in the wastewater, some of which might not be known. The EPA said it will reconsider those rules and look at how the treated water could be used for other purposes like cooling data centers, fighting fires and other ecological needs. They say the current rules are costly, old and don’t reflect the capabilities of modern treatment technologies.</p><h2>Reconsider petrochemical emergency planning</h2><p>The Biden administration tightened safeguards against accidents for industrial and chemical plants that millions of people live near. The agency’s risk management program added planning and reporting requirements for facilities and forced some to implement new safeguards. Accidents at these plants can be severe – a 2019 explosion at a Texas facility, for example, forced tens of thousands to evacuate, for example. Industry associations have criticized parts of the rule, such as requirements to publicly report sensitive information.</p><p>Zeldin said Biden administration officials “ignored recommendations from national security experts on how their rule makes chemical and other sensitive facilities in America more vulnerable to attack.” The EPA is reconsidering the rule.</p><h2>Reconsidering greenhouse gas reporting requirements</h2><p>The EPA said it was reconsidering its mandatory greenhouse gas reporting program, which requires thousands of major industrial polluters to tell the agency about its emissions. Zeldin said the “bureaucratic government program” costs hundreds of millions of dollars and doesn’t help air quality. Until now, the EPA said the data helped businesses compare their emissions to competitors and find opportunities to reduce them and lower costs.</p><h2>Reconsider light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty vehicle regulations</h2><p>Zeldin vowed to review his agency’s&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/epa-electric-vehicles-emissions-limits-climate-biden-e6d581324af51294048df24269b5d20a">emissions standards for cars and trucks</a>, calling the tightened emissions rules the “foundation for the Biden-Harris electric vehicle mandate.” Nothing the Biden administration implemented required automakers to make and sell EVs or for consumers to buy them. Loosening standards would allow vehicles to emit more planet-warming greenhouse gases, but many automakers have already been investing in making their vehicles more efficient.</p><h2>Reconsider 2009 Endangerment Finding and regulations that rely on it</h2><p>The scientific finding, under the 2009 Clean Air Act, determined that planet-warming greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare. It has been at the core of the nation’s action against climate change. Trump had already directed the EPA to consider the finding’s “legality” in an executive order. Experts say the impacts of climate change on human health and the environment are already clear, and that upending the finding would be devastating.</p><h2>Reconsideration of technology transition rule</h2><p>This program enforced strict rules to reduce the use of&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/hfc-refrigerant-chemical-air-conditioners-epa-ac01324c05ba5bf5f54bc794c1054296">hydrofluorocarbons</a>, highly potent and planet-warming greenhouse gases used in refrigerators, air conditioners, heat pumps and more. HFCs, as they are known, are thousands of times more powerful than carbon dioxide and leak through equipment that uses compressed refrigerants. Dozens of countries around the globe have pledged to slash their use and production of the chemicals.</p><h2>Ending ‘Good Neighbor Plan’</h2><p>This rule was intended to&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/supreme-court-epa-good-neighbor-air-pollution-ea23421c78999293267339faf4453cdb">limit air pollution by restricting</a>&nbsp;power plant smokestack emissions, and those from other industrial sites, across 11 states. Eliminating it would especially&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/epa-plan-would-limit-downwind-pollution-from-power-plants-b319d86b609aa149f58d4895be406bb2">impact downwind neighborhoods</a>&nbsp;that are burdened by pollution from ground-level ozone, or smog, that is out of their control. However, the Supreme Court had already put a hold on the rule&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/supreme-court-epa-good-neighbor-air-pollution-6665ba500aa2abb797bd9704e014909c">last summer,</a>&nbsp;ruling that states challenging it were likely to prevail.</p><h2>Reconstitute Science Advisory Board and Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee</h2><p>These seats have long been politicized given how influential they can be in setting national environmental policy. The board&nbsp;<a href="https://www.epa.gov/aboutepa/about-science-advisory-board-sab-and-sab-staff-office" target="_blank">reviews</a>&nbsp;“the quality and relevance of the scientific and technical information being used by the EPA or proposed as the basis for Agency regulations” and agency research programs. Congress directed the agency to establish the board to provide the Administrator science advice in 1978. The committee can give “independent advice” to the agency’s Administrator specific to the nation’s Ambient Air Quality Standards.</p><h2>Reconsider Particulate Matter National Ambient Air Quality Standards</h2><p>Power plants and industrial facilities release particulate matter, or soot, that can easily pass through a person’s lungs and into their bloodstream. Last year, the Biden administration tightened standards regulating soot in response to scientific research indicating existing regulations were insufficient. At the time,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.epa.gov/system/files/documents/2024-02/pm-naaqs-overview.pdf" target="_blank">the EPA estimated</a>&nbsp;its stronger regulations would save thousands of lives and prevent hundreds of thousands of cases of asthma and lost workdays annually. The Trump administration’s EPA says these regulations are “a major obstacle” for companies and that the U.S. has low levels of soot.</p><h2>Reconsider national emission standards for air pollutants for American energy and manufacturing</h2><p>These EPA standards apply to pollutants known or suspected to cause cancer, birth defects or other serious health problems. Industrial facilities are required to follow strict standards to monitor and limit the amount of these chemicals they release into the air. Last year, the EPA&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/epa-medical-devices-ethylene-oxide-sterilize-cancer-4b4399394b1be01023d400beb7cf3f9a">tightened standards surrounding ethylene oxide</a>&nbsp;emissions, a human carcinogen commonly used as a sterilizer for medical equipment. The Trump administration said it is considering a “2-year compliance exemption” for facilities affected by these standards, among others.</p><h2>Restructure the Regional Haze Program</h2><p>For decades, this EPA program has required states to reduce pollution that threatens scenic views in more than 150 national parks and wilderness areas, including in the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. Zeldin said that the U.S. has made strides in improving visibility in national parks and that the program is being used as justification for shutting down industrial facilities and threatening affordable energy.</p><h2>Overhauling ‘Social Cost of Carbon’</h2><p>The social cost of carbon is an EPA tool to weigh the economic costs and benefits of regulating polluting industries by putting a price tag on climate-warming carbon dioxide emissions – set at $190 per ton under the Biden administration’s EPA. That calculation is used in cost-benefit analyses, and was intended to account for greenhouse gas emissions’ impacts including natural disasters, crop damage, health problems and sea-level rise. Under the first Trump administration, carbon was pegged at around $5 per ton. An executive order Trump signed on his first day in office directs the EPA to consider eliminating this calculation entirely to advance his “Unleashing American Energy” policy.</p><h2>Prioritizing coal ash program to expedite state permit reviews and update regulations</h2><p>After coal is burned, ash filled with heavy pollutants including arsenic, lead and mercury is left behind and typically stored in giant pits under federal regulation. The EPA says it is now seeking to rapidly put regulation “more fully into state hands,” which environmental groups fear could lead to weaker standards. Kan. U.S. Senator praises EPA for deregulatory moves around water, air, climate

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating a weekend homicide in Kansas City.

Just after 2:15p.m. Sunday, police were called to a shooting at an apartment building in the 400 block of E. Armour Blvd. in Kansas City, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.

Officers were directed inside the building to an apartment upstairs where they located 43-year-old Terrance Frost unresponsive just outside one of the apartment units.

Officers summoned EMS to the scene who pronounced Frost deceased.

Responding officers detained an adult female for further investigation at the scene. Detectives spoke with numerous people who were at the scene when officers arrived and canvassed for any additional witnesses.

Detectives are not looking for any additional suspects at this time, according to Becchina.

A U.S. airstrike in Iraq last week killed the Islamic State terror network's No. 2 leader, according to a statement from the U.S. Central Command.

&nbsp;On March 13, U.S. Central Command forces, in cooperation with Iraqi Intelligence and Security Forces, conducted a precision airstrike in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, that killed the Global ISIS #2 leader, chief of operations and the Delegated Committee Emir – Abdallah Makki Muslih al-Rifai, alias “Abu Khadijah”, and one other ISIS operative.

As the Emir of ISIS’ most senior decision-making body, Abu Khadijah maintained responsibility for operations, logistics, and planning conducted by ISIS globally, and directs a significant portion of finance for the group’s global organization.

After the strike, CENTCOM and Iraqi forces moved to the strike site and found both dead ISIS operatives. Both terrorists were wearing unexploded “suicide vests” and had multiple weapons. CENTCOM and Iraqi forces were able to identify Abu Khadijah through a DNA match from DNA collected on a previous raid where Abu Khadijah narrowly escaped.

“Abu Khadijah was one of the most important ISIS members in the entire global ISIS organization. Just before 7a.m., crews responded to a reported fire at 2501 Front Street&nbsp; crews reported a large fire on the east end of the property, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins. The fire involved several semi trailers along with large piles of recyclable materials. Multiple companies were dispatched to get the fire under control.

 The railroad lines had to be shut down in order to run water supply lines across the tracks. 

In a historical moment for KCFD, a remote operated tracked robot capable of supplying 2500 gallons of water per minute was placed in service for the first time. The fire was brought under control around 9:00 a.m. 

The robot apparatus is equipped with multiple cameras, including thermal imaging, a front mounted blade for debris, tracked mobility for ease of operation and accessibility, and is supplied by multiple supply lines producing upwards of 2500 gallons per minute of water for fire suppression.

The apparatus can be used in various applications in both offensive and defensive operations to include large commercial structures, subterranean operations such as commercial caves, which Kansas City has many. It can also be used in defensive operations where placing firefighters would come at great risk, along with other various suppression activities.

This technology continues to keep the Kansas City Fire Department on the cutting edge of the fire&nbsp;service and adds to our storied history of leading the way in the industry.

Historic: KCMO Fire Department used robot to fight fire

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement have arrested a 25-year-old Wichita identified as&nbsp; woman identified as Tasha Diane Dillard, according to Sedgwick County booking records in connection with the death of seven-year-old Davion Gunter.

Just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a call of a shooting at an apartment in the 3700 block of E Ross Parkway, according to Wichita Police Captain Aaron Moses. The caller reported that someone had been shot and that a child was bleeding.

When officers arrived, they found Davion suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso. Davion was transported to a local hospital, where he was&nbsp; pronounced deceased.

At the scene, officers found seven other children and multiple adults. Wichita Police homicide investigators and the Exploited and Missing Children’s Unit responded immediately, conducting interviews and gathered evidence.

As a result, police took Dillard into custody, and the children were placed in protective care. 

Dillard has been booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on requested charges of Aggravated Child Endangerment and Felony Murder. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for formal charging consideration.

Just after 8:30 Saturday, police responded to a reported burglary at St. Patrick Catholic Church, located in the 2000 block of N. Arkansas Street in Wichita, according to Wichita Police spokesman Brad Wright.

Officers discovered significant vandalism, including hate speech and damage to items such as statues, candles, and glass. Notably, a United States flag had been burned.

Recognizing the severity of this crime, Wichita Police and investigators—alongside federal law enforcement partners including the FBI and ATF—immediately launched a full-scale investigation. The Wichita Police dedicated Crime Scene Investigation team worked diligently to analyze evidence, leading to the swift identification of a suspect.

Officers from the Wichita Police Field Community Response Teams were provided with critical intelligence and began searching for the suspect. At approximately 2:20 a.m. Sunday, officers located and arrested Gonzalez in the 2800 block of N. Hillside in Wichita without incident.

Gonzalez is being held in the Sedgwick County Jail on a bond of over $500,000 on requested charges of Burglary, Criminal Desecration, and Criminal Damage to Property. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney and federal prosecutors for formal charging considerations.

JOHNSON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a dog attack that critically injured a baby.

Just after 9:30p.m. March 13, the Prairie Village Police Department was notified by Children’s Mercy Hospital that an infant was in critical condition as a result of a dog bite, according to a statement from Prairie Village Police.

 The responding officers, along with the Investigations Unit, determined the incident occurred earlier in the evening in the 4900 block of W. 72nd Terrace in Prairie Village while the infant was being cared for by a non-parent caregiver.

The dog, a pit bull, was seized and impounded and, at the owner’s request, was euthanized .

All parties are cooperating with the investigation.The infant remains hospitalized and in critical condition.

Infant critically injured after dog attack at Kansas home

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement investigating a fatal weekend crash that occurred just after 1p.m. Saturday in Shawnee County have identified the driver as&nbsp;Christopher A. Frye, 19, of Silver Lake, according to Sheriff's Deputy Abigail Christian.&nbsp; &nbsp; He was a senior at Silver Lake High School, according to USD 372.

A Ford F150 driven by Frye was eastbound on NW 35th from NW Hoch Road. The pickup left the road and flipped into a ditch.

Frye, the sole occupant of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene.&nbsp; The accident remains under investigation.

CAIRO (AP) — The United States and Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen are both vowing escalation after&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-yemen-houthis-rebels-attack-airstrike-11b0e080b3982542dd621338a7b18afd">the U.S. launched airstrikes</a>&nbsp;to deter the rebels from&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-yemen-houthis-airstrikes-iran-explainer-06e5676098543ebab53a0cdeefd83731">attacking military and commercial vessels</a>&nbsp;on one of the world's busiest shipping corridors.

The Houthi-run Health Ministry said the U.S. strikes on Saturday killed at least 53 people, including five women and two children, and wounded almost 100 in the capital of Sanaa and other provinces, including Saada, the rebels’ stronghold on the border with Saudi Arabia.

“We’re not going to have these people controlling which ships can go through and which ones cannot. And so your question is, how long will this go on? It will go on until they no longer have the capability to do that," Secretary of State Marco Rubio told CBS on Sunday. He said these are not the one-off retaliation strikes the Biden administration carried out after Houthi attacks.

President Donald Trump on Saturday vowed to use “overwhelming lethal force” until the Houthis cease their attacks, and warned that&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/hub/iran">Tehran</a>&nbsp;would be held “fully accountable” for their actions.

The Houthis have repeatedly targeted international shipping in the Red Sea,&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/houthi-rebels-ship-attack-red-sea-yemen-bfa7d321e55c5bb59b268b82ef3c56ba">sinking two vessels</a>, in what they call acts of solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza, where Israel has been at war with Hamas, another Iranian ally.

The attacks stopped when a Israel-Hamas ceasefire took hold in January — a day before Trump took office — but last week the Houthis said they would renew attacks against Israeli vessels after Israel&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/gaza-israel-hamas-palestinians-aid-explainer-ecc0e70d5ff1120a04bf36626dfd96f4">cut off the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza</a>&nbsp;this month.

There have been no Houthi attacks reported since then.

The overnight airstrikes were one of the most extensive attacks against the Houthis since the war in Gaza began in October 2023.

Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Waltz, on Sunday told ABC that the strikes “actually targeted multiple Houthi leaders and took them out.” He didn't identify them or give evidence. Rubio said some Houthi facilities had been destroyed.

The Houthis’ political bureau has said the rebels will respond to the U.S. strikes and “meet escalation with escalation.”

The rebels on Sunday claimed to have targeted the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/truman-aircraft-carrier-collision-merchant-vessel-50e039f339c4658d246a08ca496a21d9">USS Harry S. Truman</a>&nbsp;carrier strike group with missiles and a drone.

According to a U.S. official, the Houthis did fire drones and at least one missile in response to the U.S. attack. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to provide updated information on operations, said that beginning at about midnight local time in Yemen, the Houthis fired 11 drones and at least one missile over a period of about 12 hours. Ten of the drones were intercepted by U.S. Air Force fighter jets and one was intercepted by a Navy F/A-18 fighter jet. The missile fell into the water far from the ship, and nothing came close to hitting either the carrier or the warships in its strike group.

Initially officials said they had no information on Houthi launches, but the official said they were able to get updated information.

The spokesperson for U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a statement called for “utmost restraint and a cessation of all military activities,” while warning of the “grave risks” to the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen, the Arab world’s poorest nation.

Rubio said that over the past 18 months the Houthis had attacked the U.S. Navy “directly” 174 times and targeted commercial shipping 145 times using “guided precision anti-ship weaponry.”

The attacks sparked the most serious combat the U.S. Navy had seen since World War II.

On Sunday, the head of Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, Gen. Hossein Salami, denied his country was involved in the Houthis' attacks, saying it “plays no role in setting the national or operational policies” of&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/hamas-hezbollah-houthis-iran-militant-groups-745bfc36e23997ee3f0bc499a9f5c16d">the militant groups it is allied with</a>&nbsp;across the region, according to state-run TV.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, writing on X, urged the U.S. to halt its airstrikes and said Washington cannot dictate Iran's foreign policy.

The U.S. and others have long accused Iran of&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-yemen-houthis-rebels-attack-airstrike-11b0e080b3982542dd621338a7b18afd">providing military aid</a>&nbsp;to the rebels. The U.S. Navy has seized Iranian-made missile parts and other weaponry it said was bound for the Houthis.

The United States, Israel and Britain previously hit Houthi-held areas in Yemen, but the new operation was conducted solely by the U.S. It was the first strike on the Houthis under the second Trump administration.

The USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group, which includes the carrier, three Navy destroyers and one cruiser, is in the Red Sea and was part of the mission. The USS Georgia cruise missile submarine has also been operating in the region.

RENO COUNTY —Two people have been arrested in connection with the June 2024 drug death of Kevin Rodriguez.

Reno County booking records show that Karisa Dion Tipton and Michael O. Thompson II are being held in the Reno County Detention Center, each with a $250,000 bond.&nbsp; Thompson was booked in on March 12 and Tipton on March 13.

District Court records show that between June 16 and June 17, 2024, that Tipton and Thompson distributed methamphetamine to Rodriguez who later died.

Tipton has been charged with one count of distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death, one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance resulting in death, and one count of unlawful use of a communication facility.&nbsp;

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Ford F150 driven by Robert Miguel&nbsp;Pendleton, 17, Kansas City, Kansas,&nbsp;was northbound on Interstate 635 one mile south of Interstate 70.

The pickup struck Cruz who was walking in lane one of the Interstate.&nbsp; She was pronounce dead at the scene and was transported to Forensic Medical.

The Trump administration has transferred hundreds of immigrants to El Salvador even as a federal judge issued an&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-aclu-deportations-venezuelans-b2566f05b10bf1cde1caf467a3b001cc">order</a>&nbsp;temporarily barring the deportations under an 18th century wartime declaration targeting Venezuelan gang members, officials said Sunday. Flights were in the air at the time of the ruling.

U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg issued an order Saturday blocking the deportations, but lawyers told him there were already two planes with immigrants in the air — one headed for El Salvador, the other for Honduras. Boasberg verbally ordered the planes be turned around, but they apparently were not and he did not include the directive in his written order.

In a court filing Sunday, the Department of Justice, which has appealed Boasberg's decision, said the immigrants “had already been removed from U.S. territory” when the written order was issued at 7:26 pm.

Trump's allies were gleeful over the results.

“Oopsie…Too late,” Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, who agreed to house about 300 immigrants for a year at a cost of $6 million in his country’s prisons, wrote on the social media site X above an article about Boasberg’s ruling. That post was recirculated by White House communications director Steven Cheung.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who negotiated an earlier deal with Bukele to house immigrants, posted on the site: “We sent over 250 alien enemy members of Tren de Aragua which El Salvador has agreed to hold in their very good jails at a fair price that will also save our taxpayer dollars.”

Steve Vladeck, a professor at the Georgetown University Law Center, said that Boasberg's verbal directive to turn around the planes was not technically part of his final order but that the Trump administration clearly violated the “spirit” of it.

“This just incentivizes future courts to be hyper specific in their orders and not give the government any wiggle room,” Vladeck said.

The immigrants were deported after Trump’s declaration of the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-mass-deportations-immigration-844f3050ba99552b900ed9f3a1dec22d">Alien Enemies Act</a>&nbsp;of 1798, which has been used only&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/alien-enemies-trump-immigration-deportations-21a62ede23b8c493b60d00a9c125722f">three times</a>&nbsp;in U.S. history.

The law, invoked during the War of 1812 and World Wars I and II, requires a president to declare the United States is at war, giving him extraordinary powers to detain or remove foreigners who otherwise would have protections under immigration or criminal laws. It was last used to justify the detention of Japanese-American civilians during World War II.

A Justice Department spokesperson on Sunday referred to an earlier statement from Attorney General Pam Bondi blasting Boasberg’s ruling and didn’t immediately answer questions about whether the administration ignored the court’s order.

Venezuela’s government in a statement Sunday rejected the use of Trump’s declaration of the law, characterizing it as evocative of “the darkest episodes in human history, from slavery to the horror of the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/germany-far-right-democracy-protests-afd-nazis-2dce0ea7ed40fccd3f0ec1c46edcfd42">Nazi concentration camps</a>.”

<a href="https://apnews.com/article/tren-de-aragua-venezuela-guns-nypd-trafficking-50c6483916569a685daf55c2eb6d299f">Tren de Aragua</a>&nbsp;originated in an infamously lawless prison in the central state of Aragua and accompanied an exodus of millions of Venezuelans, the overwhelming majority of whom were seeking better living conditions after their nation’s economy came undone during the past decade. Trump seized on the gang during his campaign to paint&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/election-2024-trump-aurora-colorado-crime-immigration-c76df9f1dcda7e06a983105e5e970aeb">misleading</a>&nbsp;pictures of communities that he contended were “taken over” by what were actually a handful of lawbreakers.

The Trump administration has not identified the immigrants deported, provided any evidence they are in fact members of Tren de Aragua or that they committed any crimes in the United States. It also sent two top members of the Salvadoran MS-13 gang to&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/el-salvador-trump-prison-immigrants-4ab3fc3c0474efb308084604b61f8a37">El Salvador</a>&nbsp;who had been arrested in the United States.

Video released by El Salvador’s government Sunday showed men exiting airplanes onto an airport tarmac lined by officers in riot gear. The men, who had their hands and ankles shackled, struggled to walk as officers pushed their heads down to have them bend down at the waist.

The video also showed the men being transported to prison in a large convoy of buses guarded by police and military vehicles and at least one helicopter. The men were shown kneeling on the ground as their heads were shaved before they changed into the prison’s all-white uniform — knee-length shorts, T-shirt, socks and rubber clogs — and placed in cells.

The immigrants were taken to the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/el-salvador-us-rubio-prison-de912f6a8199aaa7c8490585dcaa3b87">notorious</a>&nbsp;CECOT facility, the centerpiece of Bukele's push to pacify his once violence-wracked country through tough police measures and limits on basic rights

The Trump administration said the president actually signed the proclamation contending Tren de Aragua was invading the United States on Friday night but didn't announce it until Saturday afternoon. Immigration lawyers said that, late Friday, they noticed Venezuelans who otherwise couldn't be deported under immigration law being moved to Texas for deportation flights. They began to file lawsuits to halt the transfers.

“Basically any Venezuelan citizen in the US may be removed on pretext of belonging to Tren de Aragua, with no chance at defense,” Adam Isacson of the Washington Office for Latin America, a human rights group, warned on X.

The litigation that led to the hold on deportations was filed on behalf of five Venezuelans held in Texas who lawyers said were concerned they'd be falsely accused of being members of the gang. Once the act is invoked, they warned, Trump could simply declare anyone a Tren de Aragua member and remove them from the country.

Boasberg barred those Venezuelans' deportations Saturday morning when the suit was filed, but only broadened it to all people in federal custody who could be targeted by the act after his afternoon hearing. He noted that the law has never before been used outside of a congressionally declared war and that plaintiffs may successfully argue Trump exceeded his legal authority in invoking it.

The bar on deportations stands for up to 14 days and the immigrants will remain in federal custody during that time. Boasberg has scheduled a hearing Friday to hear additional arguments in the case.

He said he had to act because the immigrants whose deportations may actually violate the U.S. Constitution deserved a chance to have their pleas heard in court.

“Once they’re out of the country," Boasberg said, "there’s little I could do."

Boasberg issued an order Saturday blocking the deportations, but lawyers told him there were already two planes with immigrants in the air — one headed for El Salvador, the other for Honduras. Boasberg verbally ordered the planes be turned around, but they apparently were not and he did not include the directive in his written order.</p><p>In a court filing Sunday, the Department of Justice, which has appealed Boasberg's decision, said the immigrants “had already been removed from U.S. territory” when the written order was issued at 7:26 pm.</p><p>Trump's allies were gleeful over the results.</p><p>“Oopsie…Too late,” Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, who agreed to house about 300 immigrants for a year at a cost of $6 million in his country’s prisons, wrote on the social media site X above an article about Boasberg’s ruling. That post was recirculated by White House communications director Steven Cheung.</p><p>Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who negotiated an earlier deal with Bukele to house immigrants, posted on the site: “We sent over 250 alien enemy members of Tren de Aragua which El Salvador has agreed to hold in their very good jails at a fair price that will also save our taxpayer dollars.”</p><p>Steve Vladeck, a professor at the Georgetown University Law Center, said that Boasberg's verbal directive to turn around the planes was not technically part of his final order but that the Trump administration clearly violated the “spirit” of it.</p><p>“This just incentivizes future courts to be hyper specific in their orders and not give the government any wiggle room,” Vladeck said.</p><p>The immigrants were deported after Trump’s declaration of the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-mass-deportations-immigration-844f3050ba99552b900ed9f3a1dec22d">Alien Enemies Act</a>&nbsp;of 1798, which has been used only&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/alien-enemies-trump-immigration-deportations-21a62ede23b8c493b60d00a9c125722f">three times</a>&nbsp;in U.S. history.</p><p>The law, invoked during the War of 1812 and World Wars I and II, requires a president to declare the United States is at war, giving him extraordinary powers to detain or remove foreigners who otherwise would have protections under immigration or criminal laws. It was last used to justify the detention of Japanese-American civilians during World War II.</p><p>A Justice Department spokesperson on Sunday referred to an earlier statement from Attorney General Pam Bondi blasting Boasberg’s ruling and didn’t immediately answer questions about whether the administration ignored the court’s order.</p><p>Venezuela’s government in a statement Sunday rejected the use of Trump’s declaration of the law, characterizing it as evocative of “the darkest episodes in human history, from slavery to the horror of the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/germany-far-right-democracy-protests-afd-nazis-2dce0ea7ed40fccd3f0ec1c46edcfd42">Nazi concentration camps</a>.”</p><p><a href="https://apnews.com/article/tren-de-aragua-venezuela-guns-nypd-trafficking-50c6483916569a685daf55c2eb6d299f">Tren de Aragua</a>&nbsp;originated in an infamously lawless prison in the central state of Aragua and accompanied an exodus of millions of Venezuelans, the overwhelming majority of whom were seeking better living conditions after their nation’s economy came undone during the past decade. Trump seized on the gang during his campaign to paint&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/election-2024-trump-aurora-colorado-crime-immigration-c76df9f1dcda7e06a983105e5e970aeb">misleading</a>&nbsp;pictures of communities that he contended were “taken over” by what were actually a handful of lawbreakers.</p><p>The Trump administration has not identified the immigrants deported, provided any evidence they are in fact members of Tren de Aragua or that they committed any crimes in the United States. It also sent two top members of the Salvadoran MS-13 gang to&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/el-salvador-trump-prison-immigrants-4ab3fc3c0474efb308084604b61f8a37">El Salvador</a>&nbsp;who had been arrested in the United States.</p><p>Video released by El Salvador’s government Sunday showed men exiting airplanes onto an airport tarmac lined by officers in riot gear. The men, who had their hands and ankles shackled, struggled to walk as officers pushed their heads down to have them bend down at the waist.</p><p>The video also showed the men being transported to prison in a large convoy of buses guarded by police and military vehicles and at least one helicopter. The men were shown kneeling on the ground as their heads were shaved before they changed into the prison’s all-white uniform — knee-length shorts, T-shirt, socks and rubber clogs — and placed in cells.</p><p>The immigrants were taken to the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/el-salvador-us-rubio-prison-de912f6a8199aaa7c8490585dcaa3b87">notorious</a>&nbsp;CECOT facility, the centerpiece of Bukele's push to pacify his once violence-wracked country through tough police measures and limits on basic rights</p><p>The Trump administration said the president actually signed the proclamation contending Tren de Aragua was invading the United States on Friday night but didn't announce it until Saturday afternoon. Immigration lawyers said that, late Friday, they noticed Venezuelans who otherwise couldn't be deported under immigration law being moved to Texas for deportation flights. They began to file lawsuits to halt the transfers.</p><p>“Basically any Venezuelan citizen in the US may be removed on pretext of belonging to Tren de Aragua, with no chance at defense,” Adam Isacson of the Washington Office for Latin America, a human rights group, warned on X.</p><p>The litigation that led to the hold on deportations was filed on behalf of five Venezuelans held in Texas who lawyers said were concerned they'd be falsely accused of being members of the gang. Once the act is invoked, they warned, Trump could simply declare anyone a Tren de Aragua member and remove them from the country.</p><p>Boasberg barred those Venezuelans' deportations Saturday morning when the suit was filed, but only broadened it to all people in federal custody who could be targeted by the act after his afternoon hearing. He noted that the law has never before been used outside of a congressionally declared war and that plaintiffs may successfully argue Trump exceeded his legal authority in invoking it.</p><p>The bar on deportations stands for up to 14 days and the immigrants will remain in federal custody during that time. &nbsp;Tucker was initially charged with Property Damage in the 1st Degree. He is now being&nbsp;<a href="https://www.jacksoncountyprosecutor.com/DocumentCenter/View/2533/Javaune-Tucker---Amended-Complaint-Redacted">charged</a>&nbsp;with two counts of Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unlawful Machine Gun, 1st Degree Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, and six counts of Burglary in the Second Degree.&nbsp;

Detectives connected the vehicle to five burglaries that took place in the early morning hours of March 1. Based on surveillance footage from the area of the burglaries, detectives were able to identify Tucker. When they took him into custody, they found stolen firearms, including a Glock modified with a switch, which converts firearms from semiautomatic to fully automatic, allowing for continuous fire and increased lethality. He also had the key fob to the stolen Jeep, which had a stolen cash register inside. The defendant admitted to stealing the Jeep and committing the burglaries.&nbsp;

The defendant has a history of felony convictions, prohibiting him from possessing firearms.&nbsp;

WASHINGTON (AP) — Dr. Mehmet Oz promised Senate Finance committee members including Kansas Senator Roger Marshall on Friday to fight health care fraud and push to make Americans healthier if he becomes the next leader of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

But the former heart surgeon and TV personality dodged several opportunities to say broadly whether he would oppose&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/medicaid-cuts-work-requirements-congress-republicans-90ec1119f1d95de067c76f79eec7fa87">cuts to Medicaid</a>, the government-funded program for people with low incomes.

Oz, President Donald Trump’s pick to be the next CMS administrator, also said technology like artificial intelligence and telemedicine could be a key in making care more efficient and accessible.

“We have a generational opportunity to fix our health care system and help people stay healthy for longer,” he said.

The 64-year-old&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/dr-oz-mehmet-things-to-know-trump-be62594d66e07b9544e48ddf9febf7bf">was a respected heart surgeon</a>&nbsp;who turned into a popular TV pitchman. He hawked everything from supplements to private health insurance plans on “The Dr. Oz Show,” which ran for 13 seasons and helped him amass a fortune.

Now he has his sights on overseeing health insurance for about 150 million Americans enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid or Affordable Care Act coverage. As CMS administrator, he could wield significant power over most health companies operating in the U.S. because he can make decisions about who and what are covered by Medicare and Medicaid.

Oz faced over two and a half hours of questioning Friday before the Republican-controlled Senate Finance Committee, which will vote later on whether to forward his nomination to the full Senate for consideration.

Leading the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services presents a “monumental opportunity” to make the country healthier, Oz told senators. He talked about how a healthy population cuts down on expensive chronic diseases, and he offered suggestions of ways to help with that.

He noted, for instance, that most Medicare Advantage plans — privately run versions of the federally funded Medicare program — provide an allowance for food purchases. But they give no “real advice” on how to use it wisely.

“We don’t have to order people to eat healthy, we have to make it easier for people to be healthy,” adding that he considered maintaining good health a “patriotic duty.”

He talked about going after insurers that bill for diagnoses that never lead to treatment.</p><p>He also said technology like telemedicine can be used to help close gaps in care access, particularly in rural areas. Several senators mentioned concerns about the closure of rural hospitals in their states.</p><p>He said rural hospitals could form partnerships with bigger institutions in nearby cities.</p><p>“We have to revisit how we deliver rural care in America,” he said. “We can’t depend on 100-bed hospitals that do one delivery a day to provide state-of-the-art care.”</p><p>In response to a question about whether he would support Medicaid cuts if they lead to rural hospital closures, Oz said he didn't want those hospitals to close “unless we have a better option.”</p><p>Oz also would like to see limits on insurer care pre-approvals in Medicare Advantage. He called that practice, known as prior authorization, “a pox on the system” that hikes administrative costs.</p><p>Oz also told senators that he favored work requirements for Medicaid recipients, but paperwork shouldn’t be used to reaffirm that they are working or to block people from staying enrolled.</p><p>Democrats tried to pin down Oz on potential cuts to the state- and federally funded Medicaid program that Republicans are considering. Oz did note that doctors dislike the program for its relatively low payments and some don't want to take those patients.</p><p>He said that when Medicaid eligibility was expanded without improving resources for doctors, that made care options even thinner for the program's core patients, which include children, pregnant women and people with disabilities.</p><p>“We have to make some important decisions to improve the quality of care,” he said.</p><p>Oz's hearing came as the Trump administration seeks to finalize leadership posts for the nation’s top health agencies.</p><p>On Thursday, Senate committees voted to advance the nominations of Marty Makary, poised to lead the Food and Drug Administration, and Jay Bhattacharya, set to helm the National Institutes for Health, for a full Senate vote. The nomination of Dave Weldon to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/dave-weldon-cdc-director-9a3d061832e2f0f644f2c58fbae36965">was abruptly withdrawn</a>&nbsp;Thursday.</p><p>Those men have all leaned into&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/rfk-jr-robert-kennedy-vaccines-measles-steak-shake-9c970a1f6bdfd6ac4b4160480e996ac0">Robert F.
