The match was originally scheduled for February 3rd but had to be rescheduled due to weather.

The Indians
win six matches. Tacoma Augustine at 113, Brayden Hines at 120, Harley
Zimmerman at 132, Dalton Dale at 160, Gavin Meyers at 220 and Gavin Nutting at
heavyweight. Zimmerman and Dale win by fall. Meyers has a major decision and
Nutting wins by sudden victory.

🏀 Tuesday's prep results

HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs boys and girls basketball
teams picked up a pair of big wins over their longtime rivals Russell Tuesday
at Al Billinger Fieldhouse in Hays.

Girls: TMP 73, Russel 33 The TMP Lady Monarchs used a 19-5 run to open the second
quarter and four players scored in double-figures as they claimed their 13th
straight win Tuesday, 73-33 against the Russell Broncos.

TMP (14-2, 8-0 MCL) rushed out to a 6-0 start to the game before Russell
answered with back-to-back field goals to cut the TMP lead to two. Emilee Lane
answered with the first of her three three-pointers that sparked a 12-4 run to
put TMP up 18-8. After a pair of Russell (9-8, 5-3) free throws the Monarchs led 18-10
after the first quarter.

Jaci VonLintel scored the first five points of the second
quarter leading TMP on a 19-5 run to start the second quarter as the Monarchs
built a 37-15 lead.

Leading by 20 at the end of the third quarter TMP strung together
a 24-0 run to go up 63-19 and cruised the rest of the way to a 73-33 win.

Emilee Lane led all scorers with 21 points and grabbed nine
rebounds. Sophia Balthazor hit three three-pointers and finished with 17
points. Jaci VonLintel added 15 points and Kassidi Yost scored a career-high 13
points.

Boys: TMP 59, Russell 42 The TMP boys ran their win streak to three games in a
Russell Tuesday with a 59-42 win over the Broncos.

Russell’s Jackson Cross scored nine first quarter points as the
Broncos (9-7, 3-4 MCL) built a five-point lead at 11-6. The Monarchs (12-3, 7-0 MCL) scored the final five
points of the first quarter capped off with a Kade Harris three-pointer.

A Cross free throw put Russell back up by one at 12-11 to
start the second quarter but with six minutes left in the second quarter Kenton
Ginther hit his first of seven three’s to put TMP up 14-12, a lead they would
never surrender.

Ginter drained three three-pointers in the second quarter as
the Monarchs outscored Russell 19-10 in the second quarter and led 29-21 at
halftime.

TMP held Russell to just four third quarter field goals
while the Monarchs outscored the Broncos 22-9 to build a 51-30 lead heading
into the fourth quarter.

Russell scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter
but TMP was able to secure the 59-42 victory.

Kenton Ginther’s career-high 21 points paced the Monarchs. Jace
Wentling added 15 points and Dylan Werth finished with 10 points.

The Monarchs host the Phillipsburg Panthers on Friday at Al
Billinger Fieldhouse.

Fort Hays State Men's Basketball continues to receive votes in the NABC Top 25 Poll. The Tigers received four votes in the latest edition released on Tuesday (Feb. 8), the fourth-highest listed team among those receiving votes outside the Top 25. This is the second-straight week and sixth time overall this season the Tigers have been among the receiving votes list in the NABC Top 25 Poll. The Central Region remains stacked with five teams inside the Top 25 Poll. The defending outdoor national champion broke his own school record at Saturday's Herm Wilson Invitational in Wichita, Kan. (Feb. 5), clearing the 17-1.75 bar. Stanley now sits alone in first place on the NCAA Division II performance chart, breaking a tie with a Central Missouri athlete. After clearing the 16-6 bar to clinch first place, his fourth title of the season, Stanley lifted the bar nearly eight inches to try and break his personal best. The Bennington, Kan. native did just that on his third and final attempt when he cleared a bar over 17 feet for the second time this season.&nbsp;&nbsp;

NEW ORLEANS - Both Fort Hays State track and field teams are once again ranked in the top 20 in the latest USTFCCCA National Track and Field Rating Index, released Tuesday (Feb. 8). The Tiger men are 10th nationally this week, while the women are 19th in Division II. The men picked up a total of 82.13 points in the ratings process thanks to 13 marks that rank in the top 40 this season in Division II.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6513">Ryan Stanley</a>&nbsp;is now the national leader in the pole vault after breaking his own school record Saturday with a clearance of 17-1.75. Two other Tigers also rank in the top 11 in the pole vault, including&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6485">Jacob Clark</a>&nbsp;(sixth, 16-4.75) and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6493">Mark Faber</a>&nbsp;(11th, 16-4).&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6498">Philip Landrum</a>&nbsp;is ranked in the top six in two sprints, including fourth in the 200m dash (21.29) and sixth in the 60m dash (6.73).&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6484">Nolan Churchman's</a>&nbsp;school-record heptathlon total of 5,304 is fifth-best in the country. Additionally, the Tiger men are fifth in the latest regional rankings while the women are seventh. Both teams are fourth in the initial MIAA power rankings. Six event squads are ranked in the top 10 nationally, including three from the men and three from the women. The men's pole vault has the top-ranked group in the country, while men's heptathlon is third and men's long jump is 10th. The women's pentathlon group is second, with the 60m hurdles squad coming in fifth and the high jump unit slotted eighth. With just over two weeks to go before the MIAA Championships, the Tigers are scheduled to send athletes to a pair of meets this weekend (Feb. 11-12). NEW ORLEANS - Both Fort Hays State track and field teams are once again ranked in the top 20 in the latest USTFCCCA National Track and Field Rating Index, released Tuesday (Feb. 8). The Tiger men are 10th nationally this week, while the women are 19th in Division II. The men picked up a total of 82.13 points in the ratings process thanks to 13 marks that rank in the top 40 this season in Division II.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6513">Ryan Stanley</a>&nbsp;is now the national leader in the pole vault after breaking his own school record Saturday with a clearance of 17-1.75. Two other Tigers also rank in the top 11 in the pole vault, including&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6485">Jacob Clark</a>&nbsp;(sixth, 16-4.75) and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6493">Mark Faber</a>&nbsp;(11th, 16-4).&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6498">Philip Landrum</a>&nbsp;is ranked in the top six in two sprints, including fourth in the 200m dash (21.29) and sixth in the 60m dash (6.73).&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6484">Nolan Churchman's</a>&nbsp;school-record heptathlon total of 5,304 is fifth-best in the country. The women earned 48.41 marks from nine nationally-ranked marks, all of which are in the top 26.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6538">Lyric Holman</a>&nbsp;is fifth in the 60m dash (7.50) and 13th in the 200m dash (24.64).&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6549">Mattie Rossi</a>&nbsp;is sixth in both the pentathlon (3,670) and the 60m hurdles (8.60).&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6551">Taylor Savolt</a>&nbsp;is ranked in the triple jump (10th, 40-0), pentathlon (3,508) and long jump (26th, 18-7.75).&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6537">Alexandra Hart</a>&nbsp;moved up to 13th in the high jump this week after clearing the 5-7 bar. Holman, Rossi and Savolt teamed up with&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6555">Chloe Stanley</a>&nbsp;to rank 11th in the 4x400m relay (3:51.23). Additionally, the Tiger men are fifth in the latest regional rankings while the women are seventh. Both teams are fourth in the initial MIAA power rankings. Six event squads are ranked in the top 10 nationally, including three from the men and three from the women. The men's pole vault has the top-ranked group in the country, while men's heptathlon is third and men's long jump is 10th. The women's pentathlon group is second, with the 60m hurdles squad coming in fifth and the high jump unit slotted eighth. With just over two weeks to go before the MIAA Championships, the Tigers are scheduled to send athletes to a pair of meets this weekend (Feb. 11-12). The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association released their latest set of rankings Tuesday.

The Hays High boys hold at No. 3 in Class 5A. In fact no change in the top-10 spots from last week in 5A. Despite their loss to the Indians on Friday, Dodge City remains fourth in the 6A poll. Blue Valley Northwest takes over the top-spot from Lawrence-Free State who drops to second.

Trego jumps up three spots to No. 5 in 2A. Ellinwood is up two to No. 4 and Sacred Heart is in at No. 10.

The Osborne boys are up one spot to No. 5 in 1A-Division I. Sylvan-Lucas is in at No. 10. Northern Valley remains second in 1A-Division II, Dighton is up a spot to No. 5, Logan/Palco moves up one to No. 9 while Wheatland/Grinnell drops a spot to No. 10.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Timmy Allen scored 24 points and his long jumper from just beyond the free throw line with 21 seconds left put No. 20 Texas ahead before Marcus Carr's free throws sealed a 79-76 win over No. 8 Kansas on Monday night.

Texas, one of the best defensive teams in the country, had to withstand a blistering shooting half from the top-scoring team in the Big 12.

Kansas led 76-72 before the Longhorns' Tre Mitchell, who had missed all five of his 3-point attempts, banked one in to get the Longhorns within one. Kansas then turned it over when Ochai Agbaji’s lob to David McCormack bounced off the front of the rim.

Allen's jumper put Texas ahead before Carr's steal and free throws with 6 seconds left sealed the victory, Texas' third in a row over the Jayhawks. Texas swept Kansas in the regular season last season.

Mitchell scored 17 and Carr finished with 10 points for the Longhorns (18-6, 7-4 Big 12).

Jalen Wilson scored 18 to lead the Jayhawks (19-4, 8-2), who still remain in first place in the Big 12. Agbagi, the leading scorer in the Big 12, finished with 11 points, nearly 10 points below his average.

Texas led 40-35 at halftime on a twisting floater from Andrew Jones before a Jayhawks turnover set up Carr's buzzer-beater 3-pointer. Texas had missed its first 10 long range attempts before Carr swished from the right wing.

Kansas struggled in the first half to find the free-flowing offense that can flip a game in a flash. Texas guard Courtney Ramey didn't score a point in the half, but his lockdown defensive effort on Agbaji held the Jayhawks guard to just seven points on just five shots in the half.

But Kansas kept pecking away and a hot shooting start to the second half — the Jayhawks made nine of their first 12 shots — eventually put them ahead on Josef Yesufu's steal and dunk. Kansas shot 64 % in the second half.

A 3-pointer from Dajuan Harris and a dunk by Christian Braun helped Kansas build a 67-62 lead before Ramey rallied the Longhorns with consecutive layups to keep the Jayhawks from pulling away.

🏀 Allen jumper sends No. 20 Texas over No. 8 Kansas

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Fort Hays State started slow and never recovered in a 67-58 loss at Northeastern State on Monday afternoon. The No. 6/5 ranked Tigers moved to 19-3 overall and 13-3 in the MIAA, while the RiverHawks snapped a five-game losing streak and moved to 5-17 overall and 3-13 in the MIAA. Down only one after one quarter, the Tigers saw the RiverHawks go on a 14-3 run to open the second quarter to build a 12-point lead. However, the Tigers were able to trim the lead back to seven by halftime.

The third quarter proved to be the difference in the game for the RiverHawks as they kept the Tigers from building any momentum out of the break. NSU went on to outscore the Tigers 24-11 in the third frame to take a sizable 20-point lead into the fourth quarter. FHSU shot just 26.7 percent from the field and 12.5 percent beyond the 3-point line in the quarter, while NSU countered at 52.6 percent overall and 60 percent beyond the arc in the frame. The Tigers still battled over the final 10 minutes, but the margin was too big to overcome. They scored 11 points off 10 NSU turnovers in the quarter. FHSU cut the lead inside 10 with 4:11 to play, but could never find the finishing surge they needed even though they caused chaos with their full-court pressure. FHSU cut the lead to eight points three times before the final horn and the final margin ended at nine.

Fort Hays State's 16-game winning streak over Northeastern State came to an end. It was the first win for the RiverHawks over the Tigers since the 2013-14 season. All four of the wins for NSU in the all-time series have been in Oklahoma, three in Tahlequah and one in neutral site play in Alva back in 1982. The Tigers finished at just 37.5 percent from the floor for the game, while the RiverHawks finished at 48.8 percent. Both teams hit 21 field goals, but NSU made three more 3-point field goals and six more free throws. Second-chance points were a killer for the Tigers as the RiverHawks outscored them 16-9 in that category. The RiverHawks won the intensity battle on the boards, outrebounding the Tigers 38-23 overall. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6438">Olivia Hollenbeck</a>&nbsp;led the Tigers with 12 points, while&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6441">Jessie Sallach</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6437">Jaden Hobbs</a>&nbsp;each finished with 10. Hobbs scored all 10 of her points in the fourth quarter. Maleeah Langstaff continued her hot play for the RiverHawks with a team-high 24 points. She has scored 20 or more points in five of the last eight games for NSU. Ashton Hackler added 16 points to give NSU two players in double figures. The Tigers now have just a half-game lead in the MIAA at 13-3, but have two other teams even with them in the loss column. Both Missouri Southern and Missouri Western are 12-3 in conference play. Nebraska-Kearney is one game back of the Tigers at 12-4.

The Tigers still battled over the final 10 minutes, but the margin was too big to overcome. They scored 11 points off 10 NSU turnovers in the quarter. FHSU cut the lead inside 10 with 4:11 to play, but could never find the finishing surge they needed even though they caused chaos with their full-court pressure. Second-chance points were a killer for the Tigers as the RiverHawks outscored them 16-9 in that category. Schmidt came back in to pitch in the seventh and worked a 1-2-3 inning for her first collegiate save. She finished with one strikeout in three innings of work. Game 2: Regis 4, Fort Hays State 2 Regis did all of its damage in the second inning of game two. The first two Ranger batters of the inning reached base and moved up on a sacrifice bunt. She took the ball from Schmidt at the start of the third inning and held the Rangers to three runs (just one earned) in her four innings of work and struck out three. Schmidt came back in to pitch in the seventh and worked a 1-2-3 inning for her first collegiate save. She finished with one strikeout in three innings of work. Game 2: Regis 4, Fort Hays State 2 Regis did all of its damage in the second inning of game two. The first two Ranger batters of the inning reached base and moved up on a sacrifice bunt. An RBI single produced the first run, and then a two-out three run home run accounted for the remaining three runs scored by Regis. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6339">Sara Breckbill</a>&nbsp;did all of the scoring damage for Fort Hays State, hitting a solo home run to right field in the fourth and then an RBI double in the fifth. The Tigers were able to load the bases with two outs in the seventh for a chance at a late rally, but a strikeout ended the game. The Tigers had only three hits in the contest, the two by Breckbill and one by&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6338">Loren Beggs</a>. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6352">Savanah Egger</a>&nbsp;threw her second-straight complete game effort, though she was on the short end of the final score again. EDMOND, Okla. - The No. 6 Fort Hays State women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and held off a late Central Oklahoma run Saturday afternoon (Feb. 5), beating the Bronchos 75-68 on the road. The Bronchos outshot and outrebounded the Tigers, but Fort Hays State forced 22 UCO turnovers to more than make up the difference. Central Oklahoma scored first but it was all Tigers after that in the first quarter, with FHSU outscoring the Bronchos 19-9 over the opening 10 minutes.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6443">Katie Wagner</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6438">Olivia Hollenbeck</a>&nbsp;combined for 12 points in the opening frame.

The Bronchos opened the second quarter with an 11-4 run to close within three, 23-20. But the Tigers countered with three consecutive 3-pointers in just 51 seconds to go back in front by double digits.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6447">Lauren West</a>&nbsp;buried her second long ball of the game to open the run before&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6436">Sydney Golladay</a>&nbsp;turned a steal into a triple. West then sank another shot from behind the arc 30 seconds later off a pass from Wagner, giving the Tigers a 34-23 lead.

After taking a 10-point lead into the locker room, 42-32, the Tigers built the lead as high as 18 by the midway point of the third quarter thanks in part to a season-high fourth 3-pointer from West. But Central Oklahoma responded once again, outscoring the Tigers 12-5 over the final four minutes of the third to close within 11, 61-50. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6437">Jaden Hobbs</a>&nbsp;helped the Tigers break up the rally momentarily with an early 3-pointer in the fourth quarter before the Bronchos closed within two with a 14-2 run. Fort Hays State missed all 11 of their shot attempts during the run, allowing UCO to make it a one-possession game. But the defense came up with big stops down the stretch while Golladay and Hollenbeck hit clutch shots on the offensive end to regain control. The Tigers hit five free throws down the stretch to seal the win. Five Tigers scored in double figures for the third time this season, including a game-high 15 points from Hollenbeck thanks to a 5-of-9 effort from the floor and a 5-of-6 day at the stripe. Hobbs added 14 points and five assists, while Golladay, Wagner and West all scored 12 points. UCO's Kelsey Johnson led the Bronchos with 27 points and 13 rebounds. The Tigers hit 41.3 percent from the floor (26-of-63), compared to a 44.8 percent shooting effort by the Bronchos (26-of-58). 🏀 No. 6 FHSU women hold off Bronchos

EDMOND, Okla. – Fort Hays State saw a five-game win streak snapped on Saturday (Feb. 5) in a 75-68 loss to No. 16/16 ranked Central Oklahoma. The Tigers clawed their way back into the game late in the first half and briefly enjoyed a couple of leads in the second half, however the Bronchos found a way down the stretch to hit big shots when they needed them and remained unbeaten on their home floor this season. The Bronchos came out of the gate firing on all cylinders and built a 16-point lead, 30-14, about 12 minutes into the game. However, the Tigers battled back and cut the lead all the way down to three just before halftime. The Bronchos took a four-point lead of 42-38 into the locker room.

FHSU scored the first five points of the second half to briefly take a 43-42 lead and the second half was a back-and-forth battle the rest of the way. UCO went on a 6-0 run to take the lead back by five, but then FHSU battled back once again and took a 54-53 lead on a&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6459">Traejon Davis</a>&nbsp;3-point field goal with 13:30 to play. UCO once again moved in front, but the Tigers took a two-point lead of 61-59 on a fast break layup by&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6460">Kaleb Hammeke</a>&nbsp;with 7:46 to play. The Tigers would lead by two points one more time before UCO went in front for good with 4:49 to play on an Isaiah Wade jumper. The Tigers cut the lead back to one, but UCO hit shots when they needed them down the stretch, while a couple of key chances for the Tigers fell off the mark.

<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6468">Jared Vitztum</a>&nbsp;led the Tigers with 20 points and seven rebounds. He was 8-of-14 from the field with three 3-point field goals. Hammeke and Davis each chipped in 11 points for the Tigers and Hammeke had a team-best eight assists. Callen Haydon led the Bronchos with 19 points and five assists and was a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line. Wade finished with 17 points and a team-best eight rebounds. Cam Givens added 13 points for UCO. The Bronchos shot 50.9 percent from the field for the game, while the Tigers finished at 45.5 percent. FHSU used 12 3-point field goals to stay in the game, shooting 48 percent beyond the 3-point line. Both teams remained in their same positions in the MIAA standings with the result. UCO is still second, now 19-3 overall and 14-2 in the MIAA. FHSU remains third, now 16-4 overall and 11-4 in the MIAA.&nbsp;&nbsp;

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Nijel Pack scored 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting, Mark Smith had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Kansas State beat TCU 75-63 on Saturday night.

Pack made three 3-pointers and had four steals. Markquis Nowell had 14 points, six rebounds and six assists, and Mike McGuirl hit three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points for Kansas State (12-10, 4-6 Big 12).

Damion Baugh scored 17 points, Francisco Farabello 14 and Emanuel Miller added 13 points and eight rebounds for TCU (15-5, 4-4).

Smith made a layup 95 seconds into the game to make it 4-2 and the Wildcats led the rest of the way. McGuirl hit a 3-pointer to stretch the lead to double figures with 7 minutes left in the first half. Smith made the second of two free throws to give Kansas State a 31-20 advantage about 3 minutes later.

The Horned Frogs used a 17-8 spurt to close the first half and open the second to trim their deficit to 39-37 with 16:58 to play, but McGuirl bookended an 18-5 run with 3-pointers to make it 57-42 midway through the period.

🏀 Pack, Smith help Kansas State beat TCU

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Christian Braun and Ochai Agbaji each scored 18 points and No. 10 Kansas bolted to a big lead and routed No. 8 Baylor 83-59 Saturday to hold the top spot in the Big 12 Conference race.

The Jayhawks (19-3, 8-1) led by as many as 34 points late in the game. This was the first time Kansas had hosted a defending national champion since Dec. 15, 2018, when it beat Villanova 74-71 at Allen Fieldhouse.

“I thought we played pretty solid," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "We rebounded it. Our first-shot defense was good, and our ball-screen defense was excellent. I thought it was a good team outing.”

Baylor (19-4, 7-3) had won nine straight games against Top 10 opponents. But the Bears never got close to extending that streak — after scoring the first basket, they quickly fell behind 12-2 and their deficit kept increasing.

Jalen Wilson scored 15 for Kansas. Braun had 10 rebounds and Agbaji had nine as the Jayhawks grabbed a 46-37 advantage on the boards.

Kansas had lost its previous home game, 80-62 to Kentucky last weekend.

“It was a lot of fun,” Braun said. “We took last Saturday pretty hard. We had to bounce back. We did good job of coming out with more energy than we did last Saturday.”

Adam Flagler had 16 points for Baylor and Kendall Brown added 12.

“Well, that’s not how we envisioned today,” Baylor coach Scott Drew said. “They killed us in transition and second-chance points. We didn’t give our half-court defense a chance.

“It snowballed on us. We haven’t been beaten like that in three or four years. It’s disappointing. It starts with me. You’re not supposed to let things snowball like that as a leader," he said.

Kansas was ahead 21-7 before the second media timeout, stretched the lead to 20 and led 39-21 at halftime. Baylor never got closer than 16 points after the break.

“The job we did on Flagler in the first half was also good,” Self said. “He got loose in the second half a few times. I thought our defense was probably as good as it’s been all year.”

The Jayhawks reached the 1-and-1 bonus with 16:43 left in the game. An offensive foul on Matthew Mayer, after he appeared to be hacked on his way to the basket, was one of the early fouls and drew a technical foul on Drew.

“I’ve been coming up here 19 years,” Drew said. “Some things boil over.”

Baylor: It’s hard to win when you don’t make shots. Baylor shot just 29.6 percent (21 of 71) from the field.

Kansas: The Jayhawks don’t lose back-to-back home games very often. Kansas lost last Saturday at home to Kentucky. The last Kansas team to lose consecutive games at Allen Fieldhouse was in Roy Williams’ first year as head coach, 1988-89.

“I thought we responded pretty well up there after getting it handed to us last Saturday," Self said.

Baylor will stay in the state of Kansas in its next game, taking on Kansas State in Manhattan on Wednesday night.

DENVER – Fort Hays State Softball started the 2022 season with a pair of setbacks at MSU Denver on Saturday (Feb. 5). The Roadrunners won game one 8-1 before taking the second game in walk-off fashion by a score of 6-5. It was the first two games of the season for both squads. Game 1: MSU Denver 8, Fort Hays State 1 A big fourth inning turned out to be too much for the Tigers to recover from in the opener of the 2022 season. FHSU initially took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the fourth, but saw the Roadrunners rally with several extra base hits in the bottom half of the inning. Fort Hays State manufactured its only run of the game by loading the bases with a&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6342">Jessica Espinoza</a>&nbsp;single, a&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6344">Sarah Tiffany</a>&nbsp;walk, and then an error by the Roadrunners.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6338">Loren Beggs</a>&nbsp;produced a sacrifice fly down the right field line to score Espinoza from third. FHSU starter&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6351">Morgan Schmidt</a>&nbsp;held the Roadrunners scoreless through three innings, but ran into trouble in the fourth surrendering four straight hits that quickly turned into four runs. Three of those hits went for extra bases as MSU Denver vaulted out in front 4-1 in the blink of an eye.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6345">Bailey Carlson</a>&nbsp;relieved Schmidt and surrendered a sac fly and another extra-base hit that pushed the advantage to 6-1. The first of those two runs surrendered with Bailey in the circle went on Schmidt's final line. Carlson settled in to work a scoreless fifth, but allowed two more runs in the sixth. Espinoza had the only two hits of the game for the Tigers as MSU Denver starter Destinee Lopez threw a complete game and struck out 14 Tigers. Game 2: MSU Denver 6, Fort Hays State 5 Fort Hays State had MSU Denver down to its last out with a 5-4 lead in the seventh when the Roadrunners won in walk-off fashion on a two-run home run by Hannah DiFabio. FHSU had just taken its first lead of the day in the top half of the seventh. MSU Denver worked its way out to a 4-0 lead by scoring two in the first, one in the third, and one in the fifth. However, the Tigers came storming back in the sixth thanks to several miscues by the Roadrunners. After a pair of walks by&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6356">Sydnee Hoffman</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6339">Sara Breckbill</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6635">Regan Curry</a>&nbsp;singled home the first run for the Tigers. An error then helped the Tigers load the bases and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6355">Madison Pierce</a>&nbsp;was hit by a pitch to force in a second run. With&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6636">Reese Curry</a>&nbsp;at the dish, a wild pitch allowed her sister Regan to score from third, drawing the Tigers within one. The Tigers grabbed their first lead in the top of the seventh when&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6338">Loren Beggs</a>&nbsp;doubled and advanced on a throwing error to set up a sacrifice fly RBI by Breckbill. However, a leadoff walk to start the bottom of the seventh would ultimately set up the walk-off home run with two outs by DiFabio. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6352">Savanah Egger</a>&nbsp;went the distance for the Tigers in the pitching circle. She struck out four in her complete-game effort. Sarah Norton of MSU Denver was in the pitching circle for all but one Tiger out and picked up the win. She struck out six. The Tigers look to bounce back tomorrow when they play a doubleheader at Regis University. The doubleheader is set to begin at 1 pm CT / 12 pm MT at the Regis Softball Field in Denver. The Rangers split a pair of games with Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday to open their season.

 </figure>DENVER – Fort Hays State Softball started the 2022 season with a pair of setbacks at MSU Denver on Saturday (Feb. 5). The Roadrunners won game one 8-1 before taking the second game in walk-off fashion by a score of 6-5. It was the first two games of the season for both squads. Game 1: MSU Denver 8, Fort Hays State 1 A big fourth inning turned out to be too much for the Tigers to recover from in the opener of the 2022 season. FHSU initially took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the fourth, but saw the Roadrunners rally with several extra base hits in the bottom half of the inning. Fort Hays State manufactured its only run of the game by loading the bases with a&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6342">Jessica Espinoza</a>&nbsp;single, a&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6344">Sarah Tiffany</a>&nbsp;walk, and then an error by the Roadrunners.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6338">Loren Beggs</a>&nbsp;produced a sacrifice fly down the right field line to score Espinoza from third. FHSU starter&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6351">Morgan Schmidt</a>&nbsp;held the Roadrunners scoreless through three innings, but ran into trouble in the fourth surrendering four straight hits that quickly turned into four runs. Three of those hits went for extra bases as MSU Denver vaulted out in front 4-1 in the blink of an eye.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6345">Bailey Carlson</a>&nbsp;relieved Schmidt and surrendered a sac fly and another extra-base hit that pushed the advantage to 6-1. The first of those two runs surrendered with Bailey in the circle went on Schmidt's final line. Carlson settled in to work a scoreless fifth, but allowed two more runs in the sixth. Espinoza had the only two hits of the game for the Tigers as MSU Denver starter Destinee Lopez threw a complete game and struck out 14 Tigers. Game 2: MSU Denver 6, Fort Hays State 5 Fort Hays State had MSU Denver down to its last out with a 5-4 lead in the seventh when the Roadrunners won in walk-off fashion on a two-run home run by Hannah DiFabio. FHSU had just taken its first lead of the day in the top half of the seventh. MSU Denver worked its way out to a 4-0 lead by scoring two in the first, one in the third, and one in the fifth. However, the Tigers came storming back in the sixth thanks to several miscues by the Roadrunners. After a pair of walks by&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6356">Sydnee Hoffman</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6339">Sara Breckbill</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6635">Regan Curry</a>&nbsp;singled home the first run for the Tigers. An error then helped the Tigers load the bases and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6355">Madison Pierce</a>&nbsp;was hit by a pitch to force in a second run. With&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6636">Reese Curry</a>&nbsp;at the dish, a wild pitch allowed her sister Regan to score from third, drawing the Tigers within one. The Tigers completed a four-run comeback when a wild pitch scored&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6344">Sarah Tiffany</a>&nbsp;from third. The Tigers grabbed their first lead in the top of the seventh when&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6338">Loren Beggs</a>&nbsp;doubled and advanced on a throwing error to set up a sacrifice fly RBI by Breckbill. However, a leadoff walk to start the bottom of the seventh would ultimately set up the walk-off home run with two outs by DiFabio. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6352">Savanah Egger</a>&nbsp;went the distance for the Tigers in the pitching circle. She struck out four in her complete-game effort. Sarah Norton of MSU Denver was in the pitching circle for all but one Tiger out and picked up the win. She struck out six. The Tigers look to bounce back tomorrow when they play a doubleheader at Regis University. The doubleheader is set to begin at 1 pm CT / 12 pm MT at the Regis Softball Field in Denver. The Tigers collected eight hits in the contest, but three FHSU errors and three Mines home runs in the fourth inning pushed the Orediggers over the top. Opening Day starter&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6317">Conner Kessler</a>&nbsp;retired the side in order in the top of the first before the first two batters reached for the Tigers, but the Orediggers escaped the inning with a fielder's choice and two popups. Mines struck first with four runs in the second, just two of which were earned after a pair of Tiger errors. The Tigers picked up just one more hit over the next four innings, which allowed the Orediggers to go up 12-0 thanks to a seven-run fourth inning. The Tigers started to claw back with one run in the sixth before pushing across three more in the seventh. Redshirt-freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6620">Jenner Kehe</a>&nbsp;picked up his second hit of the game with one out in the sixth before a hit by pitch and a walk loaded the bases. Mines starter Kevin Zapanta (1-0) went 6.1 innings, totaling six strikeouts and allowing four hits.
