KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second straight week, Fort Hays State Women's Soccer is among the list of teams receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, released on Tuesday. FHSU enters the final week of the regular season with an overall record of 11-2-3.

FHSU will take on its second-straight nationally ranked opponent when its hosts Washburn on Friday night in Hays. The Ichabods are up to No. 6 in the latest poll, currently at 14-1-1 overall on the season. FHSU and Washburn met earlier this season in a non-conference match in Topeka, which went the way of Washburn by a score of 2-1. The Ichabods were not ranked yet when that contest happened on September 22. FHSU looks to extend its win streak against WU in Hays, which currently sits at four-straight matches going back to 2018.

This week will prove to be an exciting chase for the MIAA regular season title. Fort Hays State and No. 15 ranked Central Missouri are tied for second place in the MIAA standings, only a game back of Washburn. Washburn is 8-0-1 in MIAA play, while FHSU and UCM are both 7-1-1. The Tigers are looking to pull back even with Washburn for first place in the standings after keeping pace at the top the past two weeks. After the contest with Washburn on Friday, FHSU finishes the regular season and conference slate at Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday.

The Tigers have already clinched a berth to the MIAA Tournament and a home match in the quarterfinals on Friday, November 3, but have their sites on a potential conference title this week.

DENVER (AP) — Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson's four-game suspension for illegal hits was reduced on appeal to two games Tuesday.

Derrick Brooks cut the suspension in half after hearing Jackson's appeal. Under the collective bargaining agreement, Brooks and James Thrash — both former players — are the two hearing officers jointly appointed and compensated by the NFL and NFL Players Association to rule on appeals of on-field discipline.

Jackson will miss a home game against Kansas City and a game at Buffalo surrounding the Broncos’ bye week. He will be eligible to return to the team on Nov. 14. Under the initial suspension, he also would have missed games against Minnesota and Cleveland next month.

Jackson will forfeit about $279,000 in salary instead of the $589,000 he would have lost had the four-game suspension been upheld.

Jackson was flagged for unnecessary roughness and ejected for&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/NFLRT/status/1716225076763431390?s=20">a high hit to backpedaling Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave</a>&nbsp;in the fourth quarter of Denver’s&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/packers-broncos-1bca189ba76cbfc78f60a2d5ef082e7b">19-17 victory</a>&nbsp;last weekend.

His second ejection of the season came just 24 hours after the league announced he had been fined $43,709 for an unflagged hit on Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco in Week 6, his fourth fine for over-the-top tackles this season.

Those fines total $89,670, and Jackson faces another hefty fine for his hit on Musgrave.

Jon Runyan, the NFL’s vice president of football operations, noted Jackson’s multiple offenses for personal fouls for violating player safety-related rules when issuing the original suspension.

Jackson also was ejected from Denver’s loss to Washington in Week 2 after he was flagged for an illegal hit on Commanders tight end Logan Thomas. That came a week after Jackson’s illegal hit on Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers. Both Thomas and Meyers were concussed on the plays.

Jackson signed a one-year, $2.515 million contract with the Broncos last spring to return for a 14th NFL season. He lost his starting job to Caden Sterns in training camp but returned to the starting lineup when Sterns suffered a knee injury on his second snap in the opener.

Jackson was replaced Sunday by PJ Locke, who sealed Denver's win with his first career interception in the closing minutes.

Coach Sean Payton said Monday he's certain Jackson will lower his target zone and stop committing fouls that are injuring opponents and hurting the Broncos (2-5).

“I know he’ll keep working on it,” Payton said. "He’s someone that’s smart and really wants to do the right thing.”

TULSA, Okla. – The Fort Hays State men's golf team wrapped up their fall season with a twelfth place finish on Tuesday at the Tulsa Club hosted by Rogers State. The tournament was played at The Club at Indian Springs which totaled 6,897 yards and was a par-72 course.

Fort Hays State as a team shot two sub-300 rounds with a 296 in round one and a 299 in the final round. The Tigers finished 33-over par with a total of 897 shots. Fort Hays State was able to climb one spot on the leaderboard in the final round and placed fifth out of MIAA teams.

The Tigers were led by Cooper Scheck&nbsp;and Jackson Rader&nbsp;who both turned in top-20 performances by tying for 16th&nbsp;place. Rader and Scheck were two of five players in the field that finished with a 219, 3-over par. Scheck entered round two at 2-over par and put himself in a great spot with five birdies in the second round but was plagued by a triple bogey on his final hole of the round. Scheck bounced back with a 73 on his third round. Rader Shot his best round in round two with a 1-under, 71. Rader carded at least three birdies in each of the three rounds. There were only four MIAA golfers that placed higher than Scheck and Rader.

Cole Streck&nbsp;tied for 54th&nbsp;place after shooting a 13-over par on the tournament. Streck climb eight spots on the leaderboard during the final round and finished things off the right way with a birdie on his last hole. Streck had round scores of 76, 78, and 75. Tanner Copeland&nbsp;finished just a few spots behind Streck, tying for 57th&nbsp;place. Copeland got off to a great start with a 73 in round one. He finished the tournament with and 81 and 76 in the last two rounds.

Jacob George&nbsp;tied for 78th&nbsp;place after shooting a 241. George recorded four birdies through his three rounds. &nbsp;Bryson Oots of William Jewell College took home the individual title after shooting an 8-under par, three strokes ahead of the next spot on the leaderboard. Oots raced out to a great start on the tournament with a 66 to start the competition. Southern Arkansas clinched the team title after three of their five players finished in the top 10. They finished at 2-over par as a team.

The team will now look forward to their spring season that is set to begin on March 11th&nbsp;at the Hillcat Classic hosted by Rogers State. The Tigers are set to golf in four tournaments in the Spring as well as the MIAA Championships.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Tigers commenced their campaign with a solid performance, posting a score of 346 in the first round. They continued their pursuit of excellence on the second day, improving their collective performance to 333 strokes. Ultimately, they capped off the last day of competition with a score of 341. Collectively, Fort Hays State University concluded the tournament with a total stroke count of 1020, securing the 18th position overall. Over the course of the tournament, the Tigers notched an impressive 14 birdies and 82 pars.

The standout performance of the event was delivered by Morgan Brasser, who tied for 8th place within the 102-player field in Tulsa. Brasser showed her exceptional finishing skills, going 8-over par while accumulating 31 pars and 9 birdies throughout the week. She displayed remarkable consistency, firing rounds of 76, 75, and 73. Brasser's tenacity was evident as she climbed the leaderboard from an initial 15th place tie.

Corbyn Marquess&nbsp;showcased unwavering consistency as well, contributing scores of 85, 81, and 85, alongside 23 pars and two birdies. She concluded the tournament in a tie for the 78th position. Shauna Lee&nbsp;provided essential support with rounds of 90, 85, and 90, securing a 96th overall position. Lee's performance yielded 11 pars and a birdie. Hayden York&nbsp;secured 99th place, delivering a solid showing with 17 pars and two birdies, producing rounds of 95, 92, and 93 during the invitational.

The coveted team title was clinched by Central Missouri, who concluded the tournament just nine strokes over par. Southwestern Oklahoma State secured second place, tallying a combined score of 35 strokes over par. &nbsp; RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Elias Ovelar Semeniuk and Ben Dixon&nbsp;of Fort Hays State were named GAC/MIAA Men's Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday. Ovelar Semeniuk was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Dixon was named Goalkeeper of the Week, helping the Tigers to wins in Hays over Ouachita Baptist and Harding.

Ovelar Semeniuk put together a 9-point week with four goals and an assist. He had a pair of goals in each match this past week for FHSU, helping the Tigers to a 6-0 win over Ouachita Baptist with the first and fourth goals of the match. He then scored the second and third goals of the 4-1 win over Harding. He added his lone assist for the week in the 6-0 win against Ouachita Baptist, helping Blake Arndt&nbsp;record his first career hat trick who went on to finish the week with 8 points individually (3 goals, 2 assists).

Dixon yielded only one goal for the week, playing all 180 minutes against Ouachita Baptist and Harding. He had three saves in his clean-sheet win over OBU and then four saves with just one goal allowed against Harding. DENVER (AP) — The NFL on Monday suspended Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson for four games without pay following his latest illegal hit to the head that resulted in his second ejection of the season.

Jackson, who faces about $589,000 in lost wages, was flagged for unnecessary roughness and ejected for&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/NFLRT/status/1716225076763431390?s=20">a high hit to Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave</a>&nbsp;in the fourth quarter of Denver’s 19-17 victory Sunday.

That came just 24 hours after the league announced Jackson had been fined $43,709 for an unflagged hit on Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco in Denver's Week 6 loss at Kansas City.

That brought his season total to $89,670 in fines and he's facing yet another one for his hit on Musgrave.

Jackson was fined in each of the first three games of the season for unnecessary roughness for a total of $45,961.

Jon Runyan, the NFL’s vice president of football operations, issued the suspension Monday for violations of the league’s unnecessary roughness rules.

In a letter to Jackson, Runyan wrote, “you delivered a forceful blow to the head/neck area of a defenseless receiver, when you had the time and space to avoid such contact. You could have made contact with your opponent within the rules, yet you chose not to.”

Runyan noted Jackson’s multiple offenses for personal fouls this season for violating player safety-related rules.

Jackson also was ejected from Denver's 35-33 loss to Washington in Week 2 after he was flagged for an illegal hit on Commanders tight end Logan Thomas, which came a week after Jackson's illegal hit on Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers. Both Meyers and Thomas were concussed on the plays.

Jackson, who signed a one-year, $2.515 million contract with the Broncos last spring to return for a 14th NFL season, lost his starting job to Caden Sterns in training camp. But Sterns suffered a knee injury on his second snap in the opener, and Jackson returned to the starting lineup.

PJ Locke, who replaced Jackson following the safety's disqualification, secured Denver's win over the Packers with a late interception, the first of his career.

Jackson will miss games against Kansas City, Buffalo, Minnesota and Cleveland before he's allowed to return to the team on Nov. 27 ahead of the Broncos' Week 13 game at Houston.

Before the suspension was announced, Broncos coach Sean Payton reiterated that he didn't believe Jackson was playing dirty or trying to hurt opponents.

He said he's sat on the NFL's competition committee for a number of years and "we're constantly trying to work with and educate the players. There are times when pad levels drop. I know Kareem, I know his heart and I know the way he’s played. I think it’s an easy narrative to say, ‘Well he’s just an old-timer playing in a new-timer’s game.’

“When you see the play, his head is removed from the forceable contact. Defenseless is a little bit more of an issue relative to the position the receiver’s in,” Payton added.

“I just know where he’s at as a player. We’ll keep working on that. I know he’ll keep working on it. He’s someone that’s smart and really wants to do the right thing.”

The Broncos (2-5) host the Chiefs (6-1) Sunday.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — This season of the Kansas City Chiefs might someday be remembered for two distinct eras: pre-Taylor and post-Taylor.

Whether coincidence or fate or a function of true love, the Chiefs tight end has been on a tear since his overtures toward pop superstar Taylor Swift resulted in&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-kansas-city-kelce-e97f370dc8931de37cc0875dd53cf46d">a newfound relationship</a>. Kelce was out with a hyperextended knee in Week 1, when the Chiefs lost to the Lions, and had four catches for 26 yards in his return against the Jaguars. But in the six games since Swift first watched Kelce play, he's caught 48 passes for 499 yards and four touchdowns.

That includes a 12-catch performance for 179 yards and a score in&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chargers-chiefs-kansas-city-los-angeles-nfl-9de04ec31e8987fdb2d0522ae158d8cc">a 31-17 win over the Chargers</a>&nbsp;on Sunday, when Swift was back in an Arrowhead Stadium suite and chest-bumping Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

In the four games Swift has attended, Kelce has averaged 108 yards receiving. He averaged 46.5 in the two games she did not.

That led Chiefs coach Andy Reid to say: “Taylor can stay around as long as she want.”

He wasn't joking, either. She might be Kelce's good-luck charm.

Or maybe he's just defying logic by getting better with age.

Even though he turned 34 earlier this month, the same age as retired tight end Rob Gronkowski, Kelce continues to make plays that leave everyone wondering just how he did that. Take his game against the Chargers, a division rival that has seen him plenty of times yet was powerless to prevent him from finding open nooks and crannies in their defense.

In one case, Kelce found a yawning chasm and ran 54 yards before he was finally brought down by the Chargers.

“The younger Trav would have scored on that one,” Mahomes said with a smile, “I'll say that.”

He might not have been that open, though. Mahomes said the biggest difference in the 34-year-old Kelce from the one who broke into the league a decade ago is his ability to diagnose what the defense is doing, then quickly find a way to counteract it.

“He's played every single team and every single coverage,” Mahomes said, “and knows every way to make them pay.”

That much is true regardless of whether Swift is in the house.

The Chiefs&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/los-angeles-chargers-chiefs-nfl-herbert-48b3f6993df37cc4ef89e9f2687e58e2">sacked Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert five times</a>&nbsp;on Sunday, and each came from a different player — and none from Chris Jones, whose streak of eight straight regular-season games with a sack came to an end. That production from across the board is a good sign for the Chiefs' pass rush, which has been relying heavily on their All-Pro defensive tackle for years.

“All of us are versatile, we’re all playing inside or out. Getting us all on the field is huge — every single one of us can rush,” said Mike Danna, who had one of the sacks Sunday. "Keep on stacking the reps and getting better with the guys.”

The Chiefs were penalized six times for 43 yards, but a few of them were particularly painful. One was a questionable block in the back on left guard Joe Thuney well downfield that took away Jerick McKinnon's 48-yard touchdown reception; the Chiefs wound up getting a field goal on the drive instead.

Second-round draft pick Rashee Rice is quickly developing into an impact wide receiver. He had five catches for 60 yards and a score against Los Angeles, and he's had at least four catches in each of his last three games.

“He’s doing a really good job of just doing what he’s supposed to do and making the plays that he’s supposed to make, not trying to be anything that he’s not,” wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling said. “You see a lot of rookies come in and try to do too much and can’t figure out the right thing to do and the wrong thing to do. He’s just been doing his job and it’s been paying off for him. He’s a quiet kid who listens to what he’s told to do. He always wants to learn. He’s always taking notes, and it shows.”

Former first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire's time in Kansas City is coming to a lackluster end. He had just two carries for five yards against the Chargers and has 32 for 105 yards through seven games in the final season of his rookie contract.

Playmaking linebacker Nick Bolton fractured his wrist while tackling the Chargers' Keenan Allen. Bolton was only in his second game back after missing the previous three with an ankle injury.

29 and 3 — Mahomes has 29 wins and three losses in his career against the AFC West. And with the victory over the Chargers, the Chiefs have a three-game lead in the division just seven weeks into the season.

The Chiefs can do more damage in the AFC West race when they visit the Broncos on Sunday. The two will be playing for the second time in three weeks after Kansas City scraped its way to a 19-8 win on Oct. 12 at Arrowhead Stadium.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns, Travis Kelce caught 12 passes for 179 yards and a score, and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers 31-17 on Sunday to take command of the AFC West.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling had three catches for 84 yards and a touchdown, Rashee Rice and Isiah Pacheco also caught TD passes, and the Chiefs (6-1) won their sixth straight to take a three-game lead in a division they have won seven straight years.

The Chiefs were leading 24-17 midway through the fourth quarter when Mecole Hardman, who returned to Kansas City this week in&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-kansas-city-hardman-42f4f30cc2f8e73026636f408eabc3ed">a trade with the New York Jets</a>, brought back a punt 50 yards. That gave Kansas City a short field and, six plays later, Mahomes hit Pacheco out of the backfield for the touchdown that put the game away.

The Chargers' Justin Herbert, who spent the day under constant pressure from the league's No. 2 scoring defense, had 259 yards passing with a touchdown and two interceptions. Joshua Palmer caught five passes for 133 yards and Joshua Kelley ran seven times for 75 yards and a score.

The Chiefs had been relying all season on their defense to bail out an offense that had struggled to hit its stride.

Mahomes and Co. finally found it in the first half.

After an opening drive that netted a field goal, the reigning league MVP capped three of the next four drives with TD passes. The first was a 46-yard strike to Valdes-Scantling, the second to Rice, and the final one — almost fittingly — a flip from the 1-yard line to Kelce, who bulldozed through a group of defenders and into the end zone with 15 seconds left in the first half.

That prompted big cheers from the home crowd, including Taylor Swift, who watched from a luxury suite and celebrated with&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1716198134270034307">a personalized handshake with Brittany Mahomes</a>, the QB's wife.

The score left Mahomes with 321 yards passing, the fourth time in his career that he had been over 300 yards before halftime. And it left Kelce with nine catches for 143 yards and a score.

It only left the Chiefs with a 24-17 lead, though, because the Chargers were getting some big plays of their own.

After the Chargers evened the score with a field goal of their own, Kelley got loose for a 49-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter. And after Herbert connected with Palmer for 60 yards down the middle of the field, the Los Angeles quarterback found Gerald Everett in the end zone for a touchdown.

Given all the first-half offense, the second half was a dud. Both teams put together long drives in the third quarter, and both of them ended up with turnovers, leaving the Chiefs clinging to their 24-17 lead heading into the fourth.

Swift was again in attendance to watch Kelce and the Chiefs. She was seen wearing a friendship bracelet with “87” on it. Kelce's failed attempt to give her a friendship bracelet during her Eras Tour led to the tight end's courtship of the pop star, and an invitation to a game at Arrowhead Stadium. Swift took him up on it and they have been seeing each other ever since.

Chiefs pass rusher Charles Omenihu, who was suspended the first six games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, made his debut in a big way. He had a sack in the first half and tipped a pass that L'Jarius Sneed picked off in the second.

Chargers: RB Austin Ekeler limped off in the first half but returned to the game. ... Everett left in the second with a quad injury.

Chiefs: LB Nick Bolton appeared to hurt his wrist tackling Allen midway through the fourth quarter.

Chargers: Play the Bears next Sunday night.

DENVER (AP) — P.J. Locke saved the Denver Broncos from another second-half meltdown Sunday, intercepting Jordan Love's deep pass in the closing minutes to preserve a 19-17 win over the Green Bay Packers.

Locke — subbing for safety Kareem Jackson, who was ejected for the second time this season following an illegal high hit earlier in the fourth quarter on tight end Luke Musgrave — picked off the throw intended for Samori Toure just after the two-minute warning.

The Broncos ran out the clock to give coach Sean Payton his first win at home in four tries and end a dubious streak in which Denver had lost 10 consecutive games when leading at halftime.

This time, it was a 9-0 lead the Broncos (2-5) frittered away before regaining the advantage on Wil Lutz's 52-yard field goal with 3:50 remaining.

The Packers (2-4) scored all of their points in the second half and took a 17-16 lead on Love's 4-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Reed that went off Romeo Doubs' hands.

Doubs pulled the Packers within 16-10 in the third quarter on a 16-yard touchdown catch that both he and cornerback Patrick Surtain II caught as they tumbled to the ground.

On the broadcast, CBS rules expert Gene Steratore said he believed&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/NFL/status/1716221608929669400?s=20">the touchdown should have been ruled an interception</a>&nbsp;because Surtain had two feet down before Doubs did. Therefore, Surtain had completed the catch before Doubs had done so, Steratore argued.

Russell Wilson rebounded from his worst game as a Bronco — a 95-yard performance at Kansas City last week in the Broncos' 16th consecutive loss to the Chiefs — to throw for 195 yards on 20-of-29 passing with one touchdown, a 18-yarder to Courtland Sutton that gave Denver a 16-3 lead.

The only scoring the first half was a trio of field goals by Lutz.

Packers rookie Anders Carlson, who grew up in Colorado Springs, missed his first field-goal attempt of the season when his 43-yard try in the second quarter sailed wide left. He was good from 29 yards out to open the second half.

Jackson, who's been fined four times already for illegal hits and drew an ejection against Washington in Week 2, was DQ'd after hitting Musgrave in the head and neck area after his 18-yard catch along the Packers sideline early in the fourth quarter.

Musgrave left the game after that hit. The Packers said he had hurt an ankle.

The Packers have been outscored 63-6 in the first half of their last four games.

Four Packers were injured in the second quarter: DL Devonte Wyatt (knee), S Darnell Savage (calf), CB Eric Stokes (hamstring) and WR Jayden Reed (shin).

Both teams struggled to find rhythm in the first period thanks to stifling defense. Nine total shots were recorded in the first period with six belonging to Central Missouri and three for Fort Hays State. Both goalkeepers notched three saves in the first 45 minutes of play, sending both sides to the locker room scoreless at the break.

It did not take long for the Jennies to strike in the second period, scoring their first goal of the match in the 47'. The Tigers would stay aggressive on both sides of the pitch, firing seven shots in the second period, three on goal, but UCM would go on to capitalize on two more scores. Allison Worley&nbsp;had the most offensive opportunities for the Tigers with five shot attempts, two that were on target. The Jennies scored again in both the 55' and 84' of the match. Central Missouri had three different goal scorers for all their points.

⚽ Tiger suffer first conference loss at No. 17 Central Missouri

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Will Howard threw three touchdown passes, including a 61-yarder to DJ Giddens, to help Kansas State beat TCU 41-3 on Saturday night.

The contest was a rematch from the Big 12 title game last season, which Kansas State won 31-28.

Howard went 10-for-16 passing for 154 yards with three touchdowns and 62 yards rushing. Howard started at quarterback for the Wildcats, but K-State quickly used both Howard and freshman Avery Johnson.

“We had really good first half, but we felt we left points out there,” Howard said. “It wasn’t perfect, but it was really good and we really built off it. The defense did a heck of a job, too.”

A week after a five-touchdown performance, Johnson earned his first career start by taking a jet-sweep for 4 yards on the opening play. Johnson finished with 73 yards rushing and threw for 90 yards and a touchdown, going 5-for-10 passing. Treshaun Ward was the recipient of Johnson’s first collegiate touchdown pass.

Giddens ran for 85 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown to make it 7-0, and his 61-yard catch-and-run gave the Wildcats a 21-3 lead going into the second quarter. Jayce Brown and Will Swanson had their first collegiate touchdown receptions.

The Wildcats had 587 total yards, the most allowed by TCU all season.

“Everyone was talking about the quarterbacks, but the defense stole the show.” K-State head coach Chris Klieman said. “That is a high-octane offense with a fast tempo. We had a great gameplan and our kids executed at a high level."

Josh Hoover went 23 for 43 for 187 yards with an interception for TCU in his second career start. The Horned Frogs were held to 300 yards, their lowest total this season.

Emani Bailey had 100 yards rush for had his fifth career 100-yard game. The Horned Frogs finished with 113 total rushing yards.

“They were good and we were really bad. It was just one of those nights, I don’t have a great explanation. We’ve got to do the best we can to get it fixed,” TCU head coach Sonny Dykes said. “…We just have to get better and we’re going to practice and get better. We’ve got four games and none will be easy.”

Griffin Kell put the Horned Frogs on the board with a 32-yard field goal in the first quarter.

Horned Frogs: TCU entered the game averaging 488 yards per contest through seven games. The unit struggled to generate much momentum, with just 122 yards in the first half. The Horned Frogs went 2 of 13 on third down and 0 of 4 on third-down situations of 9-plus yards. The defense got hit hard early and failed to stop the two-quarterback mix of Johnson and Howard. Bailey was the biggest bright spot for TCU for most of the game. The final drive was the best of the game for the Horned Frogs on a 16-play, 73-yard drive, which ended on the Kansas State two-yard line as time expired.

Kansas State returned home to the friendly confines of Bill Snyder Family Stadium for the first time since hosting UCF for its Big 12 opener on September 23. The Wildcats are 4-0 at home this season. TCU will take on Texas Tech in Lubbock on Nov. 2 after a week off. The Horned Frogs currently hold a four-game win streak over the Red Raiders.

TOPEKA, Kan. – For a second straight week, the Fort Hays State
football raced out to a quick start only to struggle in the second and fourth quarters.
Saturday, the Tigers scored touchdowns on their first two possessions but
needed a key third down conversion late in the game to hold off Washburn 31-27
at Yager Stadium.

Fort Hays State won their fourth-straight and improved to 6-2
overall and 5-2 in the MIAA while the Ichabods fell to 1-7 overall and 0-7 in
the MIAA.
&nbsp;
The Tigers built a 17-point lead with just over
six minutes to play and appeared to push the lead to 20 on a 40-yard Carson
Arndt field goal which was waived off after the officials stopped the play just
prior to the snap because the play clock was not reset properly. Washburn
blocked the second try which fueled a 14-point rally down the stretch.

Fort Hays State took a 14-0 lead after the first quarter only
to see Washburn outscore them 14-3 in the second quarter to pull within 17-14 at
halftime.
&nbsp;
The Tigers scored a pair of touchdowns in the
third quarter to extend their lead to 31-14. Washburn used a couple of big
plays following the blocked kick to score two touchdowns in a span of less than
four minutes and closed the gap to three with 2:35 to play. 

Jack Dawson connected with tight end Cale Cormaney on a
nine-yard completion on third-and-four with 1:40 to play to put the game away.
&nbsp;
Fort Hays State outgained the Ichabods by 207
total yards (487-280) and ran 24 more offensive plays in the game while
possessing the ball for nearly 13 more minutes.

For a fourth-straight week the Tigers were good on the ground
with 196 rushing yards. Shane Watts led the way with 144 yards and two touchdowns,
both in the third quarter. Jack Dawson threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns,
finding Hayden Horace and Colt Fuller for touchdowns in the first quarter.
Trevor Watts had a team-high 10 receptions for 81 yards, while Bryson Smith led
in receiving yards with 87 on four catches.

John Johnson led the Tiger defense with seven tackles. Myles
Menges had two sacks and Sam Brandt had a pair of pass breakups.

Sam Van Dyne led Washburn on offense with 202
passing yards. Teondre Carter ran for a team-high 56 yards and two touchdowns.
D.J. Bell had 82 receiving yards.

🏈 Tigers hold off late Washburn rally for fourth straight win

HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State men's and women's wrestling teams were on display to the public for the first time during the 2023-24 season Saturday evening (Oct. 21) with the annual Black and Gold Scrimmage. Team black finished the evening on top, winning 41-16 after taking nine of the 14 matches

Drew Bell and Marcell Dely&nbsp;both picked up a pair of wins on the evening, including two pins for Bell and one pin and one decision for Dely. Hunter Harris&nbsp;also picked up a win via fall, while Connor Padgett, Tereus Henry&nbsp;and Cason Lindsey&nbsp;all recorded major decision victories. The other six matches all resulted in decisions, including a last-second victory by Kevin Honas&nbsp;following a takedown just before the final whistle.

The women's team held three exhibition matches midway through the evening, resulting in 10-0 technical fall victories from Josiah Ortiz&nbsp;and Piper Cadden&nbsp;and a 14-10 decision from Marissa Porsch.

The men's squad will return to the practice room for two weeks before officially beginning the season on Friday, November 3 with duals against New Mexico Highlands and Northern Colorado.

The women's team will spend the 2023-24 season practicing and engaging in unattached, individual competition before officially competing as a team in 2024-25. three sets Saturday afternoon at No. 19 Central Oklahoma, 25-17,
25-14, 25-18. The Tigers (9-14, 3-11 MIAA) matched the Bronchos (20-3, 11-2
MIAA) with six team blocks, but a 43-25 edge in kills aided UCO in the win.

Fort Hays State kept things close to open the
first set until a 7-1 Broncho run turned a 9-9 tie into a 16-10 lead. Another
big UCO run in the second set blew things open, with the Bronchos scoring nine
in a row to go from up two, 13-11, to up 11, 22-11. The Tigers led as late as
9-8 in the third set before UCO scored four in a row to take the lead. FHSU
tied things up at 13 before another Broncho run put UCO on top for good.

Riley Tinder&nbsp;led the Tigers with six kills while adding
seven digs. Brooke Hyland&nbsp;picked up a team-best 15 digs, while Gracie Rains&nbsp;totaled three blocks to lead the way. Caiya Stucky&nbsp;had 19 assists on the day.

Fort Hays State will return home to host its final
two home matches of the season next week when the Tigers take on No. 21
Washburn on Tuesday (Oct. 24) and Newman on Thursday (Oct. 26), with both

🏐 Tigers come up short at No. 21 Central Oklahoma

GREAT BEND - Arely Maldonado led the Hays High girls' cross country team to a third place team finish by placing fourth at the Great Bend 5A regional Saturday at the Lake Barton Cross Country Course. 

The Indians qualify as a team with their third place finish.

Maldonado ran a 19:14.20 for her top five finish. The Salina Central duo of Katelyn Rupe and Kaylie Shultz went finished first and second with times of 17:21.18 and 18:02.05.

The Hays High boys finished in fifth place with 121 points.
They were led by Taevian Maupin who finished sixth (17:30.35) to earn a spot at
next week’s state meet Saturday (October 28) at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence.

Hays PostGREAT BEND - Arely Maldonado led the Hays High girls' cross country team to a third place team finish by placing fourth at the Great Bend 5A regional Saturday at the Lake Barton Cross Country Course. The Indians qualify as a team with their third place finish.Maldonado ran a 19:14.20 for her top five finish.
