Metta 'Nadine' Bair

Stanley Wilber, 88, of Leavenworth, died Sunday, March 27, 2022. He was 
born May 2, 1933, in Weston, Mo., to Philanthropy and Lena (Large) 
Wilber. 
On Aug. 9, 1952, Stanley married Helen Thomas in Leavenworth, Kan. She 
preceded him in death March 25, 2005. Stanley later married Wilma Cook 
in June 2006, she preceded him in death in January 2020. He was also 
preceded in death by his parents. 
Stanley is survived by four daughters, Sandra Becker and Susan Collins 
both of Leavenworth, Sheryl Parker of DeSoto, Kan., and Sindy (Rick) 
Page of Leavenworth; four step-children, Rick Howard of Raymore, Mo., 
Randy (Sherry) Howard of Nesbit, Miss., Russell Howard of Kansas City, 
Mo., and Kim (Rob) Perez of Hays, Kan.; a brother, Clarence of 
Leavenworth; a sister, Bonnie Ruebhausen of Leavenworth; eight 
grandchildren, Chris Wood Sr., Andrew Thompson, Nathan Walters, 
Matthew Thompson, Tamara Bryant, Alyssa Walters, Meghan Tilson and 
Kendra Walters; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild 
on the way. 
He enjoyed fishing, photography and playing guitar. Stanley will be greatly missed by his family. 
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2022, at the 
R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens

Theodore Calvin Ronen, better known as Ted, 86, Hutchinson KS, died on April 4, 2022, at Hospice House.

He was born July 29, 1935, in Wichita KS, to William Loren and Marie 
Olivette (Weihe) Ronen.&nbsp; He grew up in Kansas and was a graduate of St. 
John High School in 1953.&nbsp; He graduated from Kansas State Teachers 
College (currently Emporia State University)&nbsp;with a degree in business 
administration/marketing in 1957.&nbsp; While in college, he played junior 
varsity basketball for two years and was a member of the men’s chorale 
and glee club.&nbsp;

Ted married Adele Marie Wilkens on December 28, 1955, when he was a junior at KSTC, Emporia.

Ted was co-owner of Meade Mfg. in Meade.&nbsp; He later started his own 
business in Meade, The Ronen Agency, which served the public in 
insurance, real estate, and securities. &nbsp;Most recently, after moving to 
Hutchinson, he was a real estate broker (aka The Cookie Man) for 
Coldwell Banker Americana from 1991 until his retirement in 2012.

In Meade, he was a member of Lions Club, a member of the school board
 for 8 years, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and he served on the 
City Council for several years.&nbsp; He was a member of the First 
Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; He was in a bowling league and played on the men’s
 softball team.&nbsp; He coached his young sons’ baseball and basketball 
teams.&nbsp; Ted’s greatest interest/hobby was cars—especially Fords.&nbsp; He 
also enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Adele, of Hutchinson; 4 
children, Pamela Jo Gillen (Bob) of McPherson (formerly of Hays), 
Michael Ronen (Lisa) of Kechi, Jack Ronen (Vonda) of Wichita, and 
Jeffrey Ronen (Michelle) of Wichita; 2 brothers, Jim Ronen (Cibyl) of 
Henderson TN, and Bill Ronen (Peggy) of Bosque Farms NM; 1 sister, Heidi
 Goodman (Gerald) of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren, Kelsey Smyth, Valerie
 Bryant (Scott), Amanda Harmon (Chad), Rebecca Walenz (Sam), Kyle Ronen 
(Lauren), Kirk Ronen, Derek Ronen, Christopher Ronen (Taylor), Kevin 
Ronen, and Casie Taylor (David); 3 step-grandchildren, Seth Blehm, Avery
 McCulloch, and Mackenzie McCulloch; 10 great-grandchildren, Anderson 
Bryant, Connor Bryant, Alice Bryant, Collin Harmon, Grace Harmon, Jonah

predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Olivia Walenz.

Cremation has taken place; inurnment will be at Lorraine Cemetery, 
Lorraine.&nbsp; The family will gather for a private Celebration of Life at a
 later date.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00

William E. “Bill” Kuntzsch, 84, of Russell, Kansas, and formerly of Bunker Hill, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Russell Regional Hospital.

Bill was born March 26, 1938, in Russell, the son of William H. and Margret F. (Reddig) Kuntzsch.&nbsp; He grew up in the Russell area and attended country schools.

Bill was united in marriage to Mary L. Weathers on May 6, 1956, in Russell.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children; William Jr., Malinda, Glenda and Alan.

Bill worked in the oil fields his whole life.&nbsp; He was a proud volunteer of the Bunker Hill Fire Department for over 25 years.&nbsp; He also later in life was the sexton of the Bunker Hill Cemetery.

Bill’s surviving family include his wife of 65 years, Mary of the home; daughters, Malinda Walker (Kurt) of&nbsp; Luray, Kansas and Glenda Kerns (Mike) of Stockton, Kansas; sons, William Kuntzsch, Jr., (Janet) of Topeka, Kansas and Alan Kuntzsch (Sheila) of Bunker Hill, Kansas; Brothers, James Kuntzsch (Joyce) of Dorrance, Kansas, Kenny Kuntzsch (Linda) of Russell, Kansas, and Dennis Kuntzsch (Cheryl) of Palco, Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a brother and granddaughter, Malorie Hamlin.

Aaron Lee Boese, 38, passed away April 4, 2022, in Garden City.

He was born March 25, 1984, in Larned, the son of Brent Lynn Boese and Janice Leann Helzer Perez.

A lifetime area resident, he was a member of the Church of Jesus 
Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Radium Bridge Club. He enjoyed 
riding motorcycles and 4-wheelers, rebuilding and working on things, 
fishing, hunting, camping, the beach, and going to the water park with 
his kids.

Survivors include: his mother, Janice Perez, Great Bend; step father,
 John Perez Jr., Tolleson, Arizona; three sons, Diego Perez, Topeka, 
Tristen Perez, Great Bend, Gunnar Boese, Rozel; three daughters, Shaylyn
 Perez, Topeka, Erin Perez, Great Bend, Mariah Byard, Rozel; step son, 
Peyton Price, Rozel; step daughter, Tamber McIntyre, Rozel; former

Susan Dawn Adams, age 67, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Goodland Regional Medical Center.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was born March 27, 1955, in Victorville, California. Daughter of 
James and Bernita (Arell) Gibson and Marilyn Gibson. She grew up in 
Colorado. Went to school at Bear Creek High School in Colorado and 
Wilson High School in Wilson, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On November 6, 1986 she married Dave Adams in Goodland. They made 
their home in Kanorado. She worked as the Kanorado City Clerk for 23 
years, she retired in 2021. She enjoyed riding horses, crocheting, 
gardening, camping, fishing, and most of all spending time with her 
family and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Susan is preceded in death by Parents; James, Bernita, and Marilyn Gibson; Daughter, Bobbi Jo; In-laws, David and Wanda Adams.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Crystal (Shaun) 
Mantey of Kanorado, KS; son, Chad (Jennifer) Niebels of Fort Drum, NY;

Susan Dawn Adams

Elizabeth C. “Betty” Hineman, 90, died Thursday March 31, 2022, at Lane 
County Hospital in Dighton, Kansas. She was born August 31, 1931, in 
LaCrosse, Kansas the daughter of Paul and Esther Viola (Haller) Yost. 
She grew up in Dighton, Kansas, and graduated from there. She attended 
college at South Western and K-State. She was a K-State Singer as was 
her future husband. She married Herbert T. Hineman on February 25, 1951 
and to this union four children were born. Betty took great pride in her
 home and poured a lot of love into it. She enjoyed playing the piano; 
her family fondly remembers the sounds of music filling her home. She 
also loved Saturday Night Supper Club, Bridge Club, and attending her 
children and grandchildren’s activities. She was a constant happy and 
positive influence in the lives of everyone who knew her. 
Survivors include her Daughters- Jeanie (Randy) Caprez of Russell, 
Kansas, Ann (Gerald) Fay of Dighton, Kansas, Granddaughters- Elizabeth 
Fay of Dighton and Joanna Kerby of Wichita Step-Granddaughters- 
Mechelle Caprez of Hutchinson, Tenille Kimberlin of Holton, and 7 
Great-Grandchildren. 
Betty is preceded in death by her Parents, Daughter- Ellen Hineman, and Son- Jeff Hineman. 
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday April 9, 2022, at the 
United Methodist Church, burial will follow in Dighton Memorial

 </figure>Elizabeth C. “Betty” Hineman, 90, died Thursday March 31, 2022, at Lane 
County Hospital in Dighton, Kansas. She was born August 31, 1931, in 
LaCrosse, Kansas the daughter of Paul and Esther Viola (Haller) Yost. 
She grew up in Dighton, Kansas, and graduated from there. She attended 
college at South Western and K-State. She was a K-State Singer as was 
her future husband. She married Herbert T. Hineman on February 25, 1951 
and to this union four children were born. Betty took great pride in her
 home and poured a lot of love into it. She enjoyed playing the piano; 
her family fondly remembers the sounds of music filling her home. She 
also loved Saturday Night Supper Club, Bridge Club, and attending her 
children and grandchildren’s activities. She was a constant happy and 
positive influence in the lives of everyone who knew her. 
Survivors include her Daughters- Jeanie (Randy) Caprez of Russell, 
Kansas, Ann (Gerald) Fay of Dighton, Kansas, Granddaughters- Elizabeth 
Fay of Dighton and Joanna Kerby of Wichita Step-Granddaughters- 
Mechelle Caprez of Hutchinson, Tenille Kimberlin of Holton, and 7 
Great-Grandchildren. 
Betty is preceded in death by her Parents, Daughter- Ellen Hineman, and Son- Jeff Hineman. 
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday April 9, 2022, at the 
United Methodist Church, burial will follow in Dighton Memorial 
Cemetery. Services will also be available via Facebook Live via the

Elizabeth C. 'Betty' Hineman

Chad Christopher LaRue, 38, Salina, died Monday, April 4, 2022, at Salina Regional Health Center.

He was born July 11, 1983, in Ventura 
County, California, the son of David Paul “Moose” and Lois Lee (Craven) 
LaRue.&nbsp; Chad attended Hays High School and lived most of his life in 
Hays before moving to Salina several years ago.&nbsp; He had a strong faith 
in God, enjoyed playing video games, and was good with computers.

Survivors include his brother Jeremy LaRue and wife Kendra, and grandmother Audrey LaRue, all of Hays.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents: Paul LaRue, Harold Dean and Mary Alice Craven.

Chad Christopher LaRue

Carolyn “Carol” Klaus, 93, Hays, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022, at Via Christi Village.

She was born October 29, 1928, on the 
family farm near St. Peter, Kansas the daughter of Jacob J. and 
Marcianna (Rohleder) Gerstner.&nbsp; She attended school in Collyer up until 
her junior year of high school and graduated from Hays High School in 
1947.&nbsp; On October 18, 1947, she was united in marriage to Wilfred Klaus 
in Pittsburg.&nbsp;

She had numerous jobs within the 
community at: Singer Sewing Company, J.M. McDonalds Department Store, 
St. Joseph’s Family Credit Union, and several banks, until she landed 
her dream job at Edward Jones.&nbsp; After almost two decades, Carolyn 
retired as a limited partner of the firm. &nbsp;She was a member of 
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella.&nbsp;
 She was very active in her church and community teaching sewing classes
 to 4-H children, an instructor for CCD/PSR classes at IHM, a member of 
American Business Women, President and Treasurer for the VFW Auxiliary, a
 member of American Legion Auxiliary, and volunteering for the Friends 
of the Library and IHM funeral dinner committee.&nbsp;&nbsp; When she wasn’t 
volunteering, she doted over her seven grandchildren as often as she 
could.&nbsp; She loved to bake, sew, embroider, as well as garden, especially
 her blackberries.

She is survived by a son: Mark Klaus 
and wife Karen of O’Fallon, MO, two daughters: Donna Harkness of 
Wichita, KS and Jean Pfeifer and husband John of Lawrence, KS, a 
brother: Rudy Gerstner and wife Pam of Sun City, AZ, a sister-in-law: 
Sandra Gerstner of Scott City, KS, three granddaughters: Chelsea McKay 
and husband Grant of Berglenn, Germany, Shannon Klaus of Sunnyvale, CA, 
and Erica Rule and husband Zach of O’Fallon, MO,&nbsp; four grandsons: Jacob 
Pfeifer and wife Emily of Bentonville, AR, Clayton Pfeifer of Manhattan,
 KS, and Reed Pfeifer and Jack Pfeifer, both of Lawrence, KS, and 
numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her 
parents, her husband Wilfred in 2008, a son Arthur in 1969, and a 
son-in-law Charlie Harkness in 2014, as well as six brothers and six 
sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic
 Church with Fr. Gale Hammerschmidt officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in 
St. Joseph Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on 
Friday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Saturday, all at the Hays Memorial
 Chapel Funeral Home.&nbsp; A combined Daughters of Isabella and VFW 
Auxiliary rosary will be at 5:30 pm followed by a vigil service at 6:30,
 both on Friday at the funeral home.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Carolyn 'Carol' Klaus

Grace Van Roekel, daughter of Roy and Juanita (Lyon) Brown, was born April 13, 1933, in Norton County, KS.  Grace attended country schools and then the Prairie View schools.  She died Monday, April 4, 2022, at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, at the age of 88.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Van Roekel.  They raised four children in Logan, KS.

Grace enjoyed hand work, quilting and sewing, and her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great gram.

Grace later married Dean Dillon.  The couple later divorced.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond “Ray”; sister Mae Rupke; brothers: Dale and Walter Brown; brother-in-laws: Ira Van Roekel, Albert Van Roekel, Mel Rupke, Wilbur Van Roekel, Ferd Van Roekel; and sister-in-laws: Goldie Vos, Jennie Barnard, Martha Van Roekel, and Darline Brown.

Survivors include her children: Donald Van Roekel and wife Mary Beth of Logan, Marcia Shott of Lincoln, NE, John Van Roekel of Phillipsburg, and Ronald “Short” Van Roekel and Deb Dillon of Logan, KS; 6 grandchildren: Ryan Van Roekel and wife Julie of Ft. Collins, CO, Amy Schick and husband Brad of Goodland, KS, Amanda Shaw of Lincoln, NE, Stephanie Everett and husband Justin of Denton, NE, Tyler Van Roekel of Logan, KS, and Britney Van Roekel of Hays, KS; 8 great grandchildren: Nyah and Noah Van Roekel, McKenna and Caden Schick, David, Cambry, and Addison Everett, and Ella Grace Shaw; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. in the Logan Christian Church with Pastor Troy Buss officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.

 Joie Henry, age 45, of Russell, Kansas, died unexpectedly on March 29, 
2022, at the Russell Regional Hospital, Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Her loss was 
completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.&nbsp; 
Joie was born on June 28, 1976, in Ft. Myers, FL to Timothy W. Dugan and
 Faith J. (Jewell) Dugan.

She was a homemaker and most recently worked in healthcare as a caregiver.&nbsp; Joie also loved to spend time with her family and friends.&nbsp; 
Anyone who knew Joie, knew that she was so loving and kind. She loved 
her sons so much and was extremely proud to be a grandmother.

Joie's family and friends will miss her more than words can say.

Survivors include her parents, Tim and Faith Dugan, of Donalsonville, 
GA,; her sons, Nicholas Wayne Henry, of Donalsonville, GA; and Richard 
David Henry, of Russell, KS: her sisters, Billie-Jo Sanders, of

Frances Joie Henry

Harold Gene Lonsinger, 95, of Alton, KS passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, in rural Alton, KS. He was born on November 5, 1926, to Louis &amp; Bessie (Snodgrass) Lonsinger in Wamego, KS. Harold was one of 11 children. 

Harold graduated from high school and graduated from KSU in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to college, he served in the U. S. Army during WWII and the Korean wars. Harold worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Cary Salt, and also for Doscisil that makes sausage for Pizza Hut in Hutchinson, KS. In 1996, he started farming in the Alton, KS area. Harold married Olympia Braez and to this union, no children were born. Olympia passed away in 2009. 

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Olympia and siblings: Don, Delbert &amp; Frances. Harold is survived by sisters: Virginia Deitrich of Topeka, KS; Vera A. Lichtenban of Warrensburg, MO; Judith Tipton of Bynum, TX; brothers: Richard Lonsinger of Osborne, KS; Jack Lonsinger of Liberty, MO; Lawrence Lonsinger of Bakersfield CA; Robert Lonsinger of Florence, OR.

Elva “Irene” Cooper passed away to be in her heavenly home, on March 28,
 2022, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 90. She was born to 
Ralph and Elva (Weinhold) Cooper on January 13, 1932, in Russell County,
 Kansas. Irene was united in marriage to Henry Hrabik Jr. and they were 
blessed with two boys: Steven and David. The couple later divorced.
 Irene grew up in Russell County. She graduated from Dorrance High 
School in 1951 and furthered her education at a business school in 
Denver, Colorado. When Irene and Henry Jr. married, the couple moved 
around, and she stayed home to raise her family. Irene was raised in a 
God-centered home, so in turn she raised her family to know and love the
 Lord. She loved her family and her Dachshunds like they were her own 
kids. Irene enjoyed playing the piano, singing, country gospel music, 
and old westerns like Bonanza and Gunsmoke.
 Irene was an angel among us with a heart of gold. She set before us 
an example and taught us with her daily life how to act with justice, to
 treasure the Lord's gracious love, and to walk humbly in the company of
 our Savior. We will miss her greatly, but only for a little while, 
until we see her again on the streets of gold.
 She is survived by her children, Steven Hrabik of Colorado Springs, 
CO and David and Vonda Hrabik of Colorado Springs, CO; siblings, Ina 
Hendrick of Salina, KS, Nancy Duryee of Dorrance, KS, Mayme Martin of 
Russell Co., KS; one grandchild, Amanda and Mike Maricekic; and 
great-grandchildren, Malakai and Amila.
 Irene joins on the streets of gold, her parents, Ralph and Elva Cooper; and siblings, Talbert Cooper and Mavis Kaufman.
 A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 10 AM 
at the First Baptist Church in Wilson. Visitation will be on Friday from
 2PM until 8PM with Family Receiving Friends from 5PM until 7PM at the

Elva 'Irene' Cooper 

Harold Dean “Deano” Smith, 65, died Monday, April 4, 2022 at Minneola District Hospital in Minneola, Kansas.

He was born on September 26, 1956 the son of Rose and Albert “Bud” 
(Bertalan) Smith at Dodge City, Kansas. He was a lifetime area resident 
and worked at Hy Plains Dressed Beef for 14 years and J-A-G as a 
concrete foreman for 23 years. He loved to cook and worked at various 
restaurants in Dodge City. He also won judges choice award for the Boot 
Hill chili cook off and was very proud of it. Deano enjoyed playing 
Santa at many different functions in Dodge City.

Dean joined the Army in 1974 and graduated from Wahiawa High School, 
Wahiawa, Hawaii, while stationed at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii. He
 previously attended Dodge City High School but was expelled ¼ credit 
short for streaking.

While in the Army he attained the rank of Sargent in the air defense 
artillery. He later joined the National Guard and was a combat medic, 
becoming section Chief of the medical section and was also on the state 
rifle team. He was a member of the National Guard for 15 years.

After returning from the service, he married Terry Jo Looney in July 1978. They had one daughter, Kayla, and later divorced.

He met Audrey (Burton) Calvin in 2000 and have been together ever 
since. They married on June 10, 2017 at Dodge City, Kansas. She 
survives.

Survivors also include a son, Daniel Calvin, Austin, Texas; a 
daughter, Kayla Cowan and husband Brandon, Goodland, Kansas; and 3 
grandsons, Braxton, Cooper and Dawson Cowan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Keith Lee Smith.

Memorial service will be Friday, April 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Ziegler 
Funeral Chapel, Dodge City with Rev. Shawn Fletcher officiating. Burial 
will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge. There will be no
 public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the 
register Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 
Dodge City.

The family suggests memorials to Disabled Veterans or the American 
Legion District 8 both in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.

Susan (Gibson) Adams

Longtime Goodland, KS resident Lowell Floyd Guyer, 87, passed away on
 Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the Goodland Regional Medical Center in 
Goodland.

Lowell, commonly referred to by many as "Alley Cat," was born on 
December 28, 1934, in Osborne, Kansas, to Floyd Dewitt and Ellen Grace 
(Lukens) Guyer.&nbsp; He was the oldest of two children.&nbsp; He graduated from 
Osborne High School in 1952, and then went on to completed one year at 
Fort Hays State University.

On May 7, 1961, Lowell married Carol Jean McClean in Arnold, KS.&nbsp; To 
this union, three children were born; Barry, Susan and Wendy.&nbsp; In 1984, 
the family moved from Osborne to Goodland, where Lowell liked the flat, 
open countryside. &nbsp;&nbsp;

He was a member of the Goodland United Methodist Church, the Goodland
 Elks Club and the Goodland Lions Club.&nbsp; Born and raised as a farmer, 
Lowell, dedicated his life to the land.&nbsp; For all his life, he farmed 
near his birthplace of Osborne and other locations in Goodland and 
Eastern Colorado. The Guyer name has 2 century farms, one in Osborne Co 
and Sherman Co, KS. &nbsp;He and his family spent their summers following the
 wheat harvest from Texas to North Dakota making friends along the way.&nbsp;
 Lowell had an uncanny way to fix virtually any piece of equipment he 
put his hands on.&nbsp; He also was ahead of the times and like to experiment
 and create new things.&nbsp; He made from scratch, one of the first 
satellite dishes as well as one the of the first 40-foot wheat 
headers.&nbsp;&nbsp; He loved old cars and had three 1920’s Model T cars that he 
restored himself. &nbsp;The grandkids called him ‘Boppy’ and friends called 
him ‘Alley Cat’, his CB handle from the late 70’s when CB radios were 
the new form of communication and he was able to talk to people all over
 the world.&nbsp; He loved to joke with people and tell stories of the past.&nbsp;
 He was not one to sit around and would always tell the guys to “get to 
work”.&nbsp; In his last days he continued to help out with any farming and 
harvesting that needed to be done.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brother Howard Guyer.

He is survived by his wife Carol Guyer of Goodland, KS, his children 
Barry (Joni) Guyer of Goodland, KS, Susan (Kevin) Weishaar of Spring, TX
 and Wendy (Gene) Noce of Ankeny, IA.&nbsp; He is also survived by seven 
grandchildren; Bailee Topliff of Goodland, KS, Bryan (Trista) Guyer of 
Goodland, KS, Kirsten Weishaar of Austin, TX, Paige Weishaar of Dallas, 
TX, Jordan (Jake) Snook of Ankeny, IA and Aaron and McKenzie Noce of

Anna M. Imel, 67, died April 1, 2022, at Meadowlark Hills Nursing Home
 in Manhattan, Kansas. She was born on January 3, 1955, at Dodge City, 
Kansas the daughter of Bernardo and Anita (Herrera) Lopez. &nbsp;

She enjoyed watching television and working on word search and 
crossword puzzles in her spare time. Anna cherished the time that she 
could spend with her grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter Katie Grote of Phillipsburg, Kansas; 
two sons Lucas Imel of Phillipsburg, Kansas and Dwight Imel Jr. of Dodge
 City as well as three granddaughters Celeste, Kadence, Blakely and four
 grandsons Carter, Emerson, Corbin and Easton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Benny Lopez.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday April&nbsp;
 8, 2022, at 10:30 AM with Mr. Dusty Cookson presiding.&nbsp; Burial will

She was born September 1, 1974, in Larned the daughter of Donna Sue Caplinger.

She was a lifetime Larned resident; moving to Ellsworth in 1999.&nbsp; She
 attended the First United Methodist Church in Ellsworth; was a member 
of the Aktion Club, the Special Olympics and enjoyed attending the Tim 
Tebow Night to Shine event; was a former member of the Cat Backers and 
she loved watching The Lawrence Welk Show.

Survivors include; her parents, Verlin “Orley” and Donna Morgan, 
Larned; her aunts and uncles, Hugh and Linda Mounday, Hutchinson, Dave 
Morgan, Derby and Gale and Sharon Morgan, Sunrise Beach, Missouri; a 
Special Cousin, Kala Steffen, Fort Collins, Colorado and many other 
cousins.

She was preceded in death by; her grandparents, Don and Marjorie 
Caplinger and William and Ailsa Morgan and her uncle, Gary Caplinger.

Judith Lee Janssen, 79, of Russell, Kansas, died on Friday, April 1, 2022, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

Judith was born on December 4, 1942, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter 
of Willis W. and Elsie (Bender) Harbaugh.&nbsp; She grew up in Luray, Kansas,
 and graduated from Luray High School.&nbsp; She met, fell in love and was 
united in marriage to Wayne Harry Janssen on June 20, 1964, in Russell, 
Kansas.&nbsp; From this union Judith and Wayne were blessed with two boys 
Dean and Douglas.&nbsp; She worked as a bookkeeper at Gatewood Nursing Home.&nbsp;
 She also worked as a manager and chairman of the board for the Russell 
Senior Center.&nbsp; She enjoyed bowling, making ceramic, sewing, crafts and 
fishing whenever she had the opportunity.&nbsp; Most of all she enjoyed 
spending time with her family.

Surviving family include her husband Wayne of the home, sons Dean 
Janssen of Nicholson, Pennsylvania and Douglas Janssen and wife Cindy of
 Ellsworth, Kansas; brother Stanley Harbaugh and wife Bonnie of 
Palisade, Colorado; 1 grandchild, 3 step grandchildren and 4 step great 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Walter Dodson and brother Wayne Harbaugh.

A gathering service to celebrate Judith’s life and meet with the 
family will be held from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., on Friday, April 8, 2022, at

Judith Lee Janssen

Harold Dee Robbins, 76, of Yakutat, Alaska, passed away February 3, 2022, in Alaska.

Harold was born to Bob and Eula Fae Robbins on July 30, 1945, in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Growing up, he worked hard helping on the family farm, and after high school, he departed to Nampa, Idaho to attend Northwest Nazarene College (NNC).&nbsp; At NNC, he met his wife and the soon-to-be mother of his children, Betty Lee.&nbsp; He and Betty were married on June 3, 1967, and soon after followed the births of their two children; Patrick and Rhonda.

Harold chased his dreams to the wild country of Alaska, where he made the finest ice in Southeast Alaska, and blazed the trail to building a life in Dry Bay.&nbsp; He and Betty raided their children to love Jesus and respect the outdoors.

In 1995, Betty left to be with Jesus.&nbsp; Harold remained in Yakutat, where he met his partner, best friend, and wife, who would carry him through his remaining years on earth, Mary McMullin.

Harold and Mary lived some of their best years together—traveling, spending time with their dongs, and enjoying quality time with family and friends.

Harold is preceded in death by his late wife Betty, and his parents, Bob and Eula Fae.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Pat &amp; Lisa Robbins and Rhonda &amp; Pat Tonole; Mary’s children, Melissa Allison, and Sarah; his siblings, William, Cleta and Diana; his grandchildren; LaDonn, Kaytlynn, Caleb, Moriah, Mathias, Sara, Magnus, Braun, and Orion; his great grandchildren, Fathom, Coveley and Finn; and too many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends to count.

Harold Dee Robbins

Aspen was given to us on February 25, 1997, in Wichita, KS.  She spent 
the first seventy-two days of her life in the NICU then was released to 
her home in Garden City, KS.


God never promised a life of ease, but He said it would be worth it.  
And it was. Aspen taught all who knew her about love, courage, patience,
 and how to live and enjoy life.   She taught others how to listen with 
their hearts and not just with their ears.  
Aspen loved her family with everything she had.  Her first loves were 
her mother, Mandy Fine Phillips, her grandmother Sandy Fine (“Oma”) and 
her godmother Sandra Wiederstein (“Budda”).  At the age of twelve, she 
found the father of her dreams, William (Bill) Phillips.  Then in 2019 
she gained a little brother, James.


Aspen and her dad were unstoppable.  They knew no limits.  She could be 
found swimming, riding through mudpuddles in her wheelchair when 
visiting the “Pumpkin Patch” or having the opportunity to skydive.   Her
 dad even devised a way for her to ride on his motorcycle. 

She “lived 
her life out loud” and her family made sure she had fun doing it.  
Aspen enjoyed listening to music, including her school’s band, eating 
snacks, or being outside, especially if the activities were fast and 
loud. 


Aspen started school just before the age of three.  She attended 
Florence Wilson Elementary, Victor Ornelas Elementary, Charles Stones 
Intermediate Center and the Garden City High School before graduating in
 2018.  She loved attending school, and for her last ten years in 
school, was always greeted by her special friend, Miss Deb (Amos).  
Together, Aspen and Miss Deb explored the schools, ate lunches, went on 
bus rides, played games, sang, went on field trips around town and never
 stopped learning.  She was a great example of “living life to the 
fullest.”  When she wasn’t in school, Anna Wiebe and Linda Rosales would
 be seen helping her anyway possible and simply just cherishing their 
time with her.
Aspen was a part of the Karis, Inc. community since it’s opening in 
2004, due to her “Budda." Once she graduated from High School, she 
began to participate in Day Service activities, but the individuals 
there already knew her.  Any staff that worked with Aspen loved to be 
with her and loved her smile and giggles. 


Aspen lost her “Budda” Sandra Wiederstein in 2019.  Her father, Bill 
Phillips, passed away in 2020.  Charles Robert Phillips, grandfather of 
Colby, KS also preceded her in death.


She is survived by her mother, Mandy; her younger brother, James; 
grandmothers Sandy Fine, Bessie Tillis, and Leona Wiederstein all of 
Garden City; grandmother Rose Phillips of Colby, KS and numerous other 
extended family. 

 
Aspen was called home to be with God and those who went before her on 
Sunday, March 27, 2022, in her home.  A Celebration of Life service will
 be held at First Assembly of God Church, Garden City on Saturday, April
 9 at 10:00am, followed by an interment at Valley View Cemetery.   
Memorials can be made to Karis, Inc or New Life Community Church 
(Playground Project), both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden 
City.  She continues to impact those that loved her with memories of her
 “Living Life Out Loud”.

Aspen Alexis-Nicole Phillips

Karen Mae “Karyn” (Forsythe) Schumacher, age 60, of&nbsp;Hays, Kansas, died Tuesday, March&nbsp;22, 2022, at Hays Medical Center, &nbsp;

Karyn&nbsp;was born January 12, 1962, in Hays, Kansas, to Donald Bert and Olga (Villar) Forsythe. She married Jay Naldo Schumacher.

Karyn&nbsp;was&nbsp;a co-owner of Heartland Crafts &amp; Gifts in Hays, and owned a house cleaning service for a number of years.&nbsp;Karyn&nbsp;took a lot of pride in her work for her clients&nbsp;that&nbsp;she cleaned for. &nbsp;Karyn&nbsp;wanted everything to be top notched when she was done&nbsp;with her job.&nbsp;&nbsp;Karyn&nbsp;grew up in Hays and was a 1980 graduate of Hays High School.&nbsp;Karyn&nbsp;also worked at the Ellis County Dispatch, Carlos O’Kelly’s Restaurant,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Gutierrez Mexican Restaurant. &nbsp;Karyn&nbsp;lived in Victoria most&nbsp;of her adult life&nbsp;then moved to Hays.&nbsp;&nbsp;Karyn&nbsp;enjoyed crafts, going to garage sales, and had a great love for animals.&nbsp;

Survivors include her son, Jeremiah and wife, Kayci, Hays, KS; her seven grandchildren, Ben, Ella, Jack, Max, Oliver, Claire, Sam; her brother, John Forsythe; FL;&nbsp;and her sister, Sue Rohr and husband, Mike, Newton, KS.&nbsp;Karen was preceded in death by her parents. &nbsp; &nbsp;

A Celebration Of Life Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the High Plains Baptist Church, 2700 Canterbury Road, Hays,&nbsp;Kansas with Pastor Russell Kirkpatrick and assisted by Brett&nbsp;Denham.&nbsp;A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, April 4, 2022, at&nbsp;Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays,&nbsp;and from 10:00 to 11:00&nbsp;A.M. Tuesday, at High Plains Baptist Church.

Derek Daniel Favinger was born in Newport, RI on May 15, 
1966, and passed away on March 20, 2022. His father was Dean DeLoss 
Favinger, his mother was Emily Mary Halemano and his step mother was 
Jane Favinger. 

 He married his honey, 
LaVeta Kirkpatrick on July 31, 1997, in Smith Center, KS. They were 
together for 31 years total. Throughout these years, they shared a lot 
of love, laughter and tears.

His greatest 
joy in life was being called “Papa." His grandbabies were his whole 
world. He never knew the word “no” when it came to them. His face lit up
 the second he saw them, even if it was a 5-minute time span and run to 
hug them.“Ohana” had the most meaning to 
him. It didn’t matter if you shared the same blood type or not, you were
 family and he made it known. He was always so family oriented and 
wanted to be at every event he could.

The 
best things he gave to this world were his huge, perfect smile and his 
warm, tight hugs. He had a laugh that you could hear for miles and the 
biggest heart out of anyone on this planet. Everyone will forever 
cherish that last hug and “I love you."

He 
is preceded in death by his brothers Charles “Wes” Fannin and Richard 
Fannin, Father Dean Favinger, Niece Crystal Staples, Paternal 
Grandparents Sylvester and Inez Favinger, Maternal Grandparents John and
 Mary Halemano and Aunt Wanda Belden.

He is
 survived by his siblings: Georgianna (Tim) Staples, Linda Bennett, 
Maria (Daryl) Staples, Jonathan Favinger, Cindy (Pat) White, Tammy 
(Sharon) Roth, his children: Nicole Nawyn, Michael (Becca) Favinger, 
Stephanie (Matt) Watt, Curtis Favinger, numerous nephews, nieces, 
cousins, grandchildren and friends.
