Center, Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on February 8, 1960, in Ransom, 
Kansas the youngest son of Joseph and Marcella (Kraus) Lutters.

Viewing will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City on 
Wednesday, May 25, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.&nbsp; A Rosary will be

Richard John Lutters

Elmer Jay Kathka was born March 16, 1926, on the family farm near 
Oberlin, Kansas to Julius Arthur Kathka and Cora (Barrett) Kathka. He 
was raised in Oberlin and attended school there, graduating from Decatur
 Community High School with the class of 1944. 
 Elmer joined the US Navy with his twin brother Elner in 1944 and 
served on the USS Rockbridge as a Seaman 1st Class. He was honorably 
discharged in 1946.
 In 1949, Elmer married Colleen (White) Kathka in Oberlin. They 
resided in Oberlin and 4 children were born to this union, Steve Kathka,
 Mara (Kathka) Crawford, Warren Kathka and Marrianne (Kathka) Ryno. 
They were married for 28 years. 
 Elmer was married to Kay Lebsack in 1980. They were married for 1 
year. He then married Violet Brown in 1983, they were married for 25 
years. 
 Elmer farmed the family farm north of Oberlin in addition to several
 leased properties in Decatur County. He owned and operated the 5th 
Wheel Service Station and Café for 30 years. He also ran and operated 
the Oberlin Insurance Agency for 10 years. Elmer was a past President 
of the Highway 83 Association, a member of the United Methodist church, 
VFW and American Legion. 
 On Saturday, May 14, 2022, Elmer passed away at his home at Kinship 
Pointe, McCook, NE from natural causes. He was 96 years, 1 month and 29
 days. 
 Survivors include Warren Kathka (son) and his wife Angela Ft. Worth,
 TX, Marrianne (Kathka) Ryno (daughter) and her husband Michael, 
Jefferson City, MO, Grandchildren Marcus Machart and his wife Karen, 
Smithfield, VA, Mandel Machart and his wife Pramila, Sterling Heights, 
MI, Matthew Machart and his wife Dakari, Clearwater, KS, Cassandra 
Lentz, Salt Lake City, UT and Callie (Lentz) Cummings and her husband 
Christopher, Leavenworth, KS, other great grandchildren, family and 
friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Kathka and 
Cora (Barrett) Kathka, two children Steve E. Kathka and Mara Lou

Lilly Marie “Lil” Penka, 83, passed away May 21, 2022, at her home in
 Great Bend.&nbsp; She was born January 9, 1939, in Garden City, to Al A. and
 Albertina (Urban) Dreiling. Lil married Donald Lee Penka Nov. 25, 1963,
 in Garden City.&nbsp; He died Aug. 10, 2021.

Lil, a resident of Great Bend since 1963 coming from Garden City, was
 a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church,
 Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Society.&nbsp; Lil operated a home day 
care for many years, in which she maintained relationships with many of 
the children she cared for.&nbsp; Because of all those relationships, the 
family would like to invite any of her kids and their families to sit 
together at the church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling and 
cherished family time and her grandchildren’s events.&nbsp;

Survivors include one son, Matt Penka and his wife Christi of Great 
Bend; two daughters, Michele Smith and husband Delbert of Topeka, and 
Melissa Sides of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Lauren Penka, Blake 
Penka, Dru Penka, Sarah Smith, Samantha Smith, Ashley Sides and Braden 
Sides; one sister, Violet Fry of Garden City; and one brother-in-law, 
Vincent Simmons of Garden City.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marcene Penka; a 
brother Johnny Dreiling and his wife Helen; two sisters, Mary Ann 
Campbell and husband Jerry, and Sylvia Simmons; and a brother-in-law 
Melvin Fry.

Dennis Roy Miller

Andrew Charles Melcher, 71, of Greeley, Colorado, went to be with His Lord &amp; Heavenly families on February 1, 2022, from his home in Greeley. Andrew was born in Wichita, Ks the third of six children to Cleo E. &amp; Patricia J. (Stoll) Melcher on June 16, 1950. 

He grew up &amp; attended grade, junior &amp; senior high schools in Schulte, Wichita, &amp; Salina ,Ks. He also attended Fort Hays State University, Hays, Ks &amp; Newman University, Wichita, Ks before moving onto his career working with heavy industrial equipment. Andrew lived most of his adult life in both Colorado &amp; California before returning to Colorado for his retirement years. 

Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, by his youngest &amp; oldest brothers: Arnold. K &amp; Christopher E.; by all his aunts, uncles as well as some cousins &amp; friends. 

Andy is survived by three siblings, Madelon (Lowell) Melcher-Scripter, Michael (Susan Beamer)Melcher, &amp; Denise (Daryl) Batchelor as well as nieces, nephews, cousins &amp; friends. Andy was an avid Denver Bronco's fan, never interrupt Bronco game!! In Andy's pre-California days while living in Colorado, he owned &amp; rode a motorcycle. He especially enjoyed riding it in the Colorado mountains. John Denver; especially "Rocky Mountain High" is a remembered favorite. Andy's family is very appreciative the assistance &amp; support from his Greeley neighbors &amp; a close friend he worked &amp; lived with both in California &amp; Colorado. A Celebration of Life will occur in Kansas later this year.

Frances Lucille Smith, 80, Hays, died Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She was born May 27, 1941, in 
Pflugerville, Texas, the daughter of Willie and Frances Julia (Kruger) 
Smith.&nbsp; She was a Pflugerville High School graduate in the class of 
1959, attended Texas Lutheran College earning a Bachelor’s Degree in 
English, and later earned her Master’s Degree.&nbsp; For 38 years, she 
passionately taught high school English, speech, photography, 
journalism, newspaper, and yearbook, retiring in 2003.&nbsp; Her career began
 in Beeville, Texas and included schools in Sidney Nebraska, and Lenora,
 Goodland, and Ulysses, Kansas.&nbsp; On June 18, 1966, she was united in 
marriage to Denny D. Smith in Pflugerville, and they were married 55 
years before he preceded her in death on September 17, 2021.&nbsp; Francis 
was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Woman’s Auxiliary Club, Beta 
Xi, recognized in Who’s Who Among American Teachers, and active in Lions
 Club International where she served as Council Chair and received the 
Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.&nbsp; She enjoyed her cats, baking desserts, 
and making jewelry.&nbsp; Frances expressed her love for writing through 
poetry, short stories, and stories about her childhood.&nbsp; She was a 
talented artist, enjoying water coloring and drawing Christmas pictures 
for handmade Christmas cards.

Survivors include her two sons: 
Christopher Smith (Jason Blackwell) of Los Angeles, CA and Alden Smith 
(Phyllis) of Mundelein, IL, a stepson: Brent Smith (Lynn Hoobler) of 
Topeka, a brother: Hugh Lee Smith (Cheryl) of Marble Falls, TX, a 
grandson: Kinton Smith (Sarah), a great grandson: Ronin, and numerous

Bob was born January 4, 1942, to Edward and Patricia (Ryan) Temple in 
Emerson, Nebraska.&nbsp; Bob grew up in Emerson and graduated from Sacred 
Heart Catholic High School.&nbsp; Bob served in the U.S. Army.&nbsp; He attended 
the drafting program at the Northwest Kansas Technical School in 
Goodland. &nbsp;On October 2, 1976, he married Aurelia May Rice in Goodland, 
Kansas.&nbsp; Bob worked as a linehaul driver for Yellow Freight for 31 
years, retiring in 1999.&nbsp; He was a member of the Catholic Church, Elks, 
VFW and Teamster/Steward.&nbsp; He enjoyed driving a semi-truck, reading, 
spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, telling jokes 
and stories.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his wife, Aurelia; parents, Edward and Patricia; and brother, Edward Jr.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Jackie Traverson of Bolivar, MO and

Barbara Jean Mikessell was born June 26, 1953, in Alma, NE to Bobby Duane
 and Betty Ann (Miller) Dietz. She passed away May 18, 2022, at the 
Norton County Hospital at the age of 68.
 Barb grew up on the farm in rural Orleans, NE. She was a 1973 
graduate of Orleans High School. Barb met her husband, Dick Mikessell,

 joy to her life. Barb had a very special place in her heart for her 
great granddaughter, Remi; she loved the time they spent together. She 
was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Norton.

Barbara Jean Mikessell 

Ronald "Ron" George Shubert, age 78, 
passed away on May 5, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. He 
was blessed to have his loving wife and 4 children at his side at the 
time of his passing.

Ron was born on March 8, 1944, in Hays, Kansas.

He attended Zurich Grade School and 
then Plainville High School, graduating in 1962. After high school, Ron 
joined the US Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego. He served 4 
years, including 2 tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Silver Star, the
 US Armed Forces 3rd highest military decoration for valor in conflict. 
His citation included: “With utter disregard for his own safety, Lance 
Corporal Shubert, armed with only an M-79 grenade launcher, fearlessly 
advanced directly toward enemy positions. Lance Corporal Shubert’s 
intrepid courage in the face of extreme peril undoubtedly saved the 
lives of many of his fellow Marines.”

At the end of his military service, Ron
 returned to Plainville, Kansas and married Bonita "Bonnie" K. Saindon. 
They had attended grade school together in Zurich. Ron and Bonnie were 
united in marriage on August 31, 1968 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in 
Zurich, KS.

Ron worked as an electrical lineman for
 the local power company for 34 years in Plainville, KS where they 
settled to start a family.

He and Bonnie raised 4 children, who 
looked at him as their hero. Ron had a love of hunting, camping, and 
fishing that he shared with his wife and kids for many years.

Upon retiring, he and his wife traveled
 the USA and Canada for 8 years in their 5th-wheel camper having many 
adventures and making cherished memories. Their favorite adventures were
 their 4 months in Alaska and winters in Arizona.

After their travels, they moved to Munjor, Kansas, where they resided for nearly 10 years.

In September of 2020, they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma.

Ron is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of
 53 years; his children, Mindy Geist (Derek) of Edmond, OK, Jason 
Shubert of New York City, NY, Dustin Shubert (Sarah) of Hays, KS, Ryan 
Shubert (Bridgit) of Hays, KS, and niece, Jill (Shubert) Heil (Scott) of
 Kansas City, MO.

He was beloved "Popop" to his 10 
grandchildren: Avery, Ethan, Elizabeth (Mindy). Samantha and Jaxson 
(Jason). Cooper and Hunter (Ryan). Felicity, Linus, and Vincent 
(Dustin).

He is preceded in death by his parents, George D. Shubert, Beulah M. (Loreg) Shubert, and his only sibling, Terry Shubert.

There will be a military funeral honors ceremony and burial. Date is yet to be determined.

His ornery spirit and infectious laugh will be truly missed by family members and many friends.

Patricia Irene Fraker, age 73, of McDonald, Kansas passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Good Samaritan in Atwood.&nbsp;

Patricia was born July 3, 1948, to Edgar and Lillian (Byers) Fraker in
 Greeley, Colorado. Patty grew up and attended school in Greeley. She 
lived many places in Colorado and Kansas and &nbsp;spent a short time in 
California. Patty worked as a cook at a dude ranch in southern Colorado,
 as head nutritionist at Grace Manor in Burlington and owned C&amp;P 
Canvas. In 2019 she moved to McDonald. Patty enjoyed collecting dolls, 
reading romance novels, crafting including cross stitch and plastic 
canvas and spending time with her family and friends.&nbsp;

Patty was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Ron Fraker.&nbsp;

She is survived by her long-time companion, Chuck Parrish of 
McDonald, KS; daughter, Tammy (Curt) Freeman of Florence, CO; sons, Troy
 (April) Basnett of Palmer, AK, Donny (Melinda) Basnett of McDonald, KS 
and Tony (Kimberly) Basnett of Brighton, CO; 11 grandchildren; 18 great

Ethan James Morgan, 29, of Stockton, Kansas, passed away on May 18, 2022, after a tragic car accident.
 On August 25, 1992, Ethan was born to Marlene and Randy Morgan in 
Phillipsburg, Kansas. He loved racing motorcycles, doing mechanical work
 on vehicles, causing trouble, being a daredevil and spending time with 
his family and friends. He had recently gotten his GED and began working
 for Discovery Drilling which he genuinely enjoyed. He had a great sense
 of humor and adventure. He was a father, brother, son, nephew, cousin, 
uncle, and a friend to many. 
 In 2014, he met Ashley Peters and they had a daughter named Zoe whom he loved very dearly. 
 He is survived by his parents, Marlene and Randy Morgan; siblings, 
Jennifer Padgett, Shane Morgan, Allison Morgan; daughter, Zoe Peters; 
and many nieces and nephews.
 Ethan is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Lyril and Lyle 
Morgan; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Lillian Schmidt. 
 A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 
Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be

Terry Walters, age 80, passed away on April 11, 2022, at his home in Georgetown, Texas. Terry was born in Hays, Kansas on April 4, 1942, the first of nine children to Fidelia (Gottschalk) and William Walters. 


Terry attended most of his school years in Hays - from Jefferson Grade School to St. Francis Seminary High School in Victoria, to St. Joseph's Military Academy in Hays, to Fort Hays State University. 


Terry served two tours of duty in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Benner. He worked for IBM for 20 years and then with his brothers, two sisters, and two sisters-in-law at The Forms Group for 15 years. 


Terry was a very positive life force who will be missed by everyone who knew him. He always had a story to tell and was passionate about life and his faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, son, uncle, and godfather and loved his family with all his heart and soul. 


He is survived by his wife, Janet; son Barry and his wife Kathlene; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Austin and Alyssa; great grandchildren, Orion and Jameson; brothers, Dave and wife Mary, Pete and wife Barbi, and John and wife Barbara; sisters, Kathy Brenner, Lilly Kingsley and husband Tim, and Sue Prediger and husband Joel; many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. 


He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Cynthia, and his brother, Bill.

Andrew Joseph Gomes, age 23, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in Wichita County, Kansas. He was born on January 17, 1999, in Jackson, California, the son of Douglas and Arlee Azevedo Peterson.  He was a resident of Scott City, Kansas since 2016 moving from Valley Springs, California. He was a farmer. 

Survivors include one daughter, Avery Gomes of Scott City Kansas, Mother, Arlee Peterson of Scott city, Kansas, Father, Douglas Peterson of Scott City, Kansas,  Paternal Father, Joseph Gomes of Scott city, Paternal Mother, Jill Mathos of Sonora, California, Two brothers, Seth Gomes of Sonora, California, Alex Phillips of Scott City, and Two sisters, Kyara Gomes of Oklahoma, Kayla Coffey Of Minnesota, and Uncle, Jason Peterson of Citrus Heights, California.

Andrew Joseph Gomes

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved 
mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, Clarice Ellen 
Brining, on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las 
Cruces, New Mexico. Clarice was born in Caldwell, Kansas, on April 30, 
1924, and moved with her parents to Great Bend, Kansas in 1937.&nbsp; She 
married Richard Curtis Brining on June 12, 1948.&nbsp; She taught first grade
 at Eisenhower School until she resigned to devote her time to family, 
friends, and church. She helped with the family farm by driving wheat 
trucks at harvest, taking meals to the field, moving farm equipment, and
 running numerous errands. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, 
reading, and traveling. She was delighted to host family gatherings and 
was always ready for any adventure. She loved her friends from high 
school, extension, and church. She was a member of P.E.O. and a 
volunteer with Stephens Ministry and the Life Giving Center.

Clarice had a passion and love for her family to whom she gave of 
herself so generously. She was also devoted to the Lord and lived 
accordingly. She was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist 
Church, and was dedicated to her church family. She greeted everyone 
with a smile and a happy heart. Her positive attitude, spontaneous sense
 of humor, natural curiosity, and loving spirit were contagious. We are 
so grateful to have had you in our lives for so long, Mom. You will be 
missed and never forgotten. We thank everyone who enriched her life by 
including her in theirs.

Those left to mourn her passing include: her son, Robert Brining and 
wife Linda; daughter Linda Keener and husband Will and a daughter-in-law
 Erika Brining; her brothers, Don Hammond, Dean Hammond and wife Wilma; 
her grandchildren, Andrew Keener and wife Megan, Anna Kimtis and husband
 John, Rachel Mawhirter and husband Justin, Rebecca Padgett and husband 
Isaiah, and Robby Brining; her great grandsons, Jace, Emmett, and 
Gabriel Mawhirter, Benjamin and Thomas Keener, and a great 
granddaughter, Ada Kimtis; plus numerous nieces, nephews, extended 
family and friends. A special thanks to Craig Haneke, Bev Simonson, and 
Barb Brining Ross, who were not only family, but kind, attentive and 
generous friends.

She was preceded in death by: her husband of 58 years, Richard 
Brining; her son, Roger Brining; her father, Harold Hammond; her mother,
 Mabel Hammond Zugg; her sister, Helen Neff and husband Alven “Bill” and
 her sisters-in-law, Mildred Hammond, Mildred Snyder and husband Dutch, 
and Wilma Riegel and husband Don; and her brother-in-law, Raymond 
Brining and wife Dorothy.

Family and friends will join together to celebrate her life during a 
visitation at ­Bryant Funeral Home at 1425 South Patton Road, Great 
Bend, KS, on May 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family present 
from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will also be held at Bryant 
Funeral Home, on May 26 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Great Bend 
Cemetery.

 go to the school where her passion for children was fulfilled by

married Richard Curtis Brining on June 12, 1948.&nbsp; She taught first grade
 at Eisenhower School until she resigned to devote her time to family, 
friends, and church. She helped with the family farm by driving wheat 
trucks at harvest, taking meals to the field, moving farm equipment, and
 running numerous errands. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, 
reading, and traveling. She was delighted to host family gatherings and 
was always ready for any adventure. She loved her friends from high 
school, extension, and church. She was a member of P.E.O. and a 
volunteer with Stephens Ministry and the Life Giving Center.Clarice had a passion and love for her family to whom she gave of 
herself so generously. She was also devoted to the Lord and lived 
accordingly. She was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist 
Church, and was dedicated to her church family. She greeted everyone 
with a smile and a happy heart. Her positive attitude, spontaneous sense
 of humor, natural curiosity, and loving spirit were contagious. We are 
so grateful to have had you in our lives for so long, Mom. You will be 
missed and never forgotten. We thank everyone who enriched her life by 
including her in theirs.Those left to mourn her passing include: her son, Robert Brining and

Lee Etta Elmore, 78, passed away May 17, 2022, in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

She was born September 26, 1943, in Lyons, the daughter of Denzil and Marion Stroud Frantz.

A Larned resident for 32 years, she was a Mental Health Technician at
 Larned State Hospital. She was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed 
doing needlework: sewing, quilting and cross stich, and especially loved
 making quilts for her grandbabies. &nbsp;She also loved bowling and 
gardening.

On December 31, 1991, she married Daniel Elmore at Larned; he survives.

Other survivors include: 8 children, Marissa (Bobby) Janzen, Kechi, 
KS, Joseph Trimble, Rozel, Christopher Trimble, Muskogee, OK, Georgia 
(Wayne) Furrh, Muskogee, Leslie (Troy) Davis, Kinsley, Chris (Shannon) 
Elmore, Hoisington, Shaun (Megan) Elmore, Hoisington, Sahra (Tony) 
Valencia, Buckeye, AZ; brother, William “Bill” Frantz, Lawrence; sister,
 Denise Gustafson, Copperas Cove, TX; twenty-seven grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Robert David “Bobby” Harrell Jr., age 
43, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, the 
result of an automobile accident in McPherson County. Bobby was born 
March 13, 1979, in Hays, Kansas, to Shelly Stegman and Robert Harrell 
Sr.&nbsp;

On March 20, 2021, he married the love 
of his life, Tessa Kester in Kansas City. Bobby was a Nationally 
Certified Mobile Ophthalmic Technician working for Institutional Eye 
Care LLC.&nbsp; He graduated from Hays High in 1997 and while a Junior at 
Hays High in 1996 he joined the US Army Reserves serving with the 388th 
Medical Battalion.

Robert loved spending time with family,
 fishing, watching football and playing video games. Robert was a proud 
father to Madison, Alyssa &amp; Bethany. Robert was an amazing husband, 
father, brother, son, and friend. He was the most loving and devoted 
father and family man. He had a contagious laugh that was loved by so 
many. He was witty and always knew how to put a smile on someone's face.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Tessa 
Harrell of Kansas City; daughters, Madison Harrell, Alyssa Harvey, and 
Bethany Harvey all of Kansas City; parents, Shelly (Stegman) Harrell of

Judy Rae Kistler, 77, of Colby, died Monday, May 16, 2022, in Kansas 
City, MO. She was born August 11, 1944, in Topeka, KS, to Leonard and 
Helen (Spencer) Cook. Judy graduated from Topeka West High School. 
Judy was a real-estate broker in Colby for over 20 years. She was active
 in the Colby Chamber of Commerce and was on the hospital board when 
Citizens Medical Center was built. Judy was a dog lover and K-State fan.
 She had a green thumb and a love of gardening that led her to complete 
the Extension Master Gardener program through K-State. Judy enjoyed 
tending to her many indoor and outdoor flowers and plants as well as the
 landscapes she designed. She was a member of the Berean Church, in 
Colby, and was actively involved with the church’s youth programs. On 
June 7, 1980, Judy married Hal Kistler, in Colby. 
Judy was preceded in death by her parents. 
She is survived by her husband Hal; sons, Travis (Sara) Oliver and Tyler
 (Julie) Oliver; grandchildren, Alyson Oliver, Kennedy Oliver and Wyatt

Judy Rae Kistler

Maryellen Batt, 94, of Salina, Kansas, died May 17, 2022.&nbsp; She was 
the only child of Walter and Alice Justice born on November 20, 1927.&nbsp; 
The family moved to Salina from Canton in 1935.&nbsp; She went through the 
Salina school system, graduating from Salina High School in 1945.&nbsp; She 
earned an AA degree in Design Merchandizing from Christian College, a 
2-year girl’s school in Columbia, Missouri, and a BA degree in education
 from Marymount College in Salina.&nbsp;

Maryellen taught English and art in the 7th and 8th grades in Hays, 
Kansas, for two years before moving back to Salina to marry Robert Alan 
Batt who graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in 
architecture and worked for Wilson and Company Engineers and 
Architects.&nbsp; They were married in the First Presbyterian Church July 7, 
1951.

That same year Grace Stewart, director of Elementary Education, asked
 Mrs. Batt to teach a 4th grade class during a teacher shortage.&nbsp; This 
led to 10 more years of teaching in the 4th and 5th grades.&nbsp; She was 
honored by a life membership in the PTA, a parent-teacher association.&nbsp; 
Maryellen taught art in 7th and 8th grades at Roosevelt Junior High 
School and taught Business English at Brown-Mackie School of Business 
for 5 years.&nbsp; While Bob and Maryellen were building a house in the 
country, she worked as Interior Decorator for TL Collins Decorators.

She enjoyed membership in the American Association of University 
Women, serving on Salina and state boards and honored by a named 
fellowship in 1977 – 78 by the Salina branch to be used for women 
working on doctoral degrees.&nbsp; Maryellen loved to read and was a member 
of the Current Literature Club of Salina, the Salina Art Center since 
its beginning in Salina, and served on the Salina Arts and Humanities 
Commission and worked in various capacities; a lifetime member of 
Midwest Weavers Organization and helped organize the Smoky Valley 
Weaving Guild in Salina.&nbsp; She was also a member of PEO, chapter ED, and 
the First Presbyterian church.

Maryellen and Bob traveled to many wonderful places throughout the 
world.&nbsp; While in China they watched people playing Mah-Jongg on the 
streets.&nbsp; She too enjoyed playing Mah-Jongg for many years with her 
friends.

She enjoyed many years of weaving materials and garments using yarn 
dyed with plant materials that were collected in the woods around their 
house in the country.&nbsp; Their dogs went on these hikes too.

Christopher Morley wrote “a successful life is living your own life in your own way.”&nbsp; Maryellen believed this to be true.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Salina Animal 
Shelter in memory of their many dogs.&nbsp; Memorial services will be

Landon Lane Koehn, age 43, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in 
Wichita County, Kansas. He was born on January 27, 1979, in Tribune, 
Kansas, the son of Mervin Ray &amp; Patsy Sue Wedel Koehn.&nbsp; A lifetime 
resident of Wichita County, Kansas, he was a farmer.

He was a member of the Scott Mennonite Church in Pence, Kansas.

On June 6, 1999, he married Nancy Jane Dirks in Pence, Kansas.&nbsp; She Survives.

Survivors include his Wife - Nancy J. Koehn of Marienthal, Kansas,

Landon Lane Koehn, age 43, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in 
Wichita County, Kansas. He was born on January 27, 1979, in Tribune, 
Kansas, the son of Mervin Ray &amp; Patsy Sue Wedel Koehn.&nbsp; A lifetime 
resident of Wichita County, Kansas, he was a farmer.He was a member of the Scott Mennonite Church in Pence, Kansas.On June 6, 1999, he married Nancy Jane Dirks in Pence, Kansas.&nbsp; She Survives.Survivors include his Wife - Nancy J. Koehn of Marienthal, Kansas, 
One Son - Kobe Koehn of Marienthal, Kansas, Three Daughters - Cheri 
Koehn of Marienthal, Kansas, Shayla Koehn of Marienthal, Kansas, Haley

Joan Margret Morphy, 89, of Colby, died Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 
Citizens Medical Center, Colby. She was born on the family farm at 
Temple Hill in rural Onslow, IA, on January 20, 1933, to Bernard and 
Margret (Fagan) Keating. Being raised on a farm, Joan developed a 
lifelong love for the farm life. After high school, Joan attended Mount 
Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, IA, where she received a bachelor’s 
degree in Nursing. Joan worked as a nurse for most of her life. She was 
also a lifelong catholic and married Harry Morphy at St. Peter’s 
Catholic Church, in Temple Hill, IA, on June 1, 1957. In her younger 
years, Joan enjoyed golfing. She also liked playing bridge and other 
card games. Joan especially loved spending time with her grandsons. 
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry; parents; son David 
Arthur Morphy; daughter Jane Ellen Morphy; three brothers and one 
sister. 
Joan is survived by her daughters Julie Saddler and Lisa Morphy; grandsons Cade and Alex Morphy, and their mother Carol. 
Memorial Masses will take place at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at
 Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby, and at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17,
 2022, at the Mary Our Queen Church, in Omaha, NE, with inurnment in

Joan Margret Morphy (Keating)

Sister Donna Marie&nbsp;Kleinsorge, CSA, formerly known as Sister Cornelius, died peacefully on May 13, 2022, at Nazareth Center in Fond du Lac, WI.&nbsp;

Donna Marie was born on March 13, 1934, in Dresden, KS, the oldest daughter of George A.&nbsp;Kleinsorge, Sr., and Dorothy Mildred&nbsp;Dempewolf&nbsp;Kleinsorge. &nbsp;She grew up on her family farm with one brother and four sisters. Donna Marie entered St. Agnes Convent in 1949 and graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1952. She made her first profession of vows in the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes as Sister Cornelius on August 15, 1954, in Fond du Lac, WI.&nbsp;

Sister Donna Marie was a Licensed Practical Nurse receiving her diploma from the Fond du Lac Vocational School in 1958. In 1979, she received a BS in Human Relations from Marian College, Fond du Lac, WI, and later took courses in Music Therapy from&nbsp;AlvernoCollege in Milwaukee, WI. She continually attended classes in health care and health services to keep herself professionally updated. Sister Donna Marie’s educational pursuits and her many natural talents allowed her to serve in a variety of ministries throughout her years in religious life. She had a particular love for the elderly and relished attending to their needs. &nbsp;

Her varied ministries included serving in parish school settings as a classroom teacher, music teacher, and housekeeper for her CSA sisters in Nanty Glo, PA, Kewaskum, WI, and Hudson, WI. In Fond du Lac, she worked on the nursing staff of St. Agnes Hospital, the Sisters’ Infirmary at St. Agnes Convent, and at the Boyle Home for the Aged. She was the organist at the Leo House in New York City and in Fond du Lac at the Boyle Home and Nazareth Heights Infirmary. In 1979 she became Assistant Activity Director at St. Vincent-St. Joseph Rehabilitation Campus in Freeport, IL. &nbsp;

Sister moved to Kansas in 1982 working first in the Good Samaritan Center in Hays as a Music Therapist, Volunteer Coordinator, and Day Care Coordinator. In 1986, she ministered as a pastoral associate at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Smith Center, KS. She went on to serve as Health Service Coordinator at the Adult Day Care Center in Leawood, KS, and at Rush County Nursing Home in La Crosse, KS. &nbsp;For eight years (1991–1999), Sister Donna Marie was the LPN Director at Grand Generation Adult Day Care Center in Grand Island, NE. &nbsp;She spent her last years in active ministry serving as a pastoral associate at Sacred Heart Parish in Colby, KS, and as a volunteer among the elderly offering a ministry of care and presence through her arts and crafts projects, her advocacy efforts, her caregiver relief services and by being a telephone companion for the elderly who lived alone&nbsp;or had no family.

In July of 2014, Sister Donna Marie returned to Fond du Lac and became a resident at Nazareth Court and Center where she lived with her CSA sisters and received care until the time of her death.&nbsp;

Sister Donna Marie was preceded in death by her parents George A. and Dorothy M.&nbsp;Kleinsorge&nbsp;and her sister, Melva Jean Edmonds.

Sister is survived by her brother George, her sisters Sister Vivian&nbsp;Kleinsorge, CSA, Evelyn Henderson, and Eleanora Hanna, and the&nbsp;Sisters&nbsp;of St. Agnes, with whom she lived, prayed and ministered.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, from 9:45 am–11:00 a.m. and 12:00–1:30 p.m. at Nazareth Court and Center, 375 Gillett Street, Fond du Lac, WI.&nbsp;A Prayer Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Please check in for the Visitation and Prayer Service at the 375 Gillett Street entrance only. &nbsp;

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Sister Donna Marie at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022, at St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street, Fond du Lac, WI, with Father James Leary, OFM Cap., presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Springs Cemetery, Fond du Lac, WI.

Ronald Duane Duncanson, 89, of Garnett, Kansas passed away on Saturday, 
May 14, 2022, at the Richmond Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in 
Richmond, Kansas. He was born to Bruce and Pearl (Chichester) Duncanson 
on December 22, 1932, on the family farm in Rural Sheridan County 
Kansas. 

Ron attended his first six years of school at a country school 
and received the rest of his elementary and secondary education in the 
Hoxie Schools graduating with the class 1951. In August of 1952, at the 
Hoxie United Methodist Church, Ron married the love of his life Orlene 
Carter. They celebrated 69 years of marriage. Ron and Orlene were 
blessed with three beautiful daughters Debra, Lisa, and Patricia. They 
spent the first years of marriage living in Hoxie, Kansas. They moved to
 Denver and then were transferred to Minneapolis, Minnesota and finally 
Dallas, Texas where they resided until they moved to Garnett, Kansas to 
live with a granddaughter Mellisa Wilson. Ron and Orlene were blessed 
with three beautiful daughters Debra, Lisa, and Patricia.
 Most of Ron’s career was spent working inventory control and sales 
for aircraft spare parts for Dresser Industries and B.F. Goodrich. Ron 
and Orlene loved and enjoyed their children and grandchildren. Most of 
their trips were spent traveling to see their family. 
 Left to mourn Ron’s passing is his loving wife Orlene (Carter) 
Duncanson of Garnett, Kansas; daughters, Lisa Ryder (Jim) and Patricia 
Duncanson all of Rattan, Oklahoma; grandchildren, J.R. Vaughan, Mellisa 
Wilson (Galen), Tiffany Paxton (Kipp), Christina Ryder, Serena 
Ryder, and Ronny Ryder; and 16 great-grandchildren. 
 Ron was preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Pearl Duncanson; 
daughter, Debra Stephens; brothers, Virgil Duncanson, and Harold 
Duncanson; sisters, Mildred Lofton, Bernadine Deibert, and Arlene 
Lorenz.
