Braxton Dean Reichel, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Rush 
County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born July 9, 2021.

Braxton laughed and smiled throughout his ten months; bringing joy 
and happiness to everyone he touched.&nbsp; Though his time with his family 
was short, he touched many lives and was loved deeply by those around 
him.&nbsp; His life was a brief gift to us that will live on as his heart 
valves were donated and received by those who were in need.

Braxton is survived by his mommy, Rebecca Reichel, Alexander, Kansas;
 his identical twin brother, Brenden Neal Reichel, Alexander, Kansas; 
his maternal grandparents, Joel and Terry Reichel, Alexander, Kansas; 
his aunt, Ashley Reichel, Alexander, Kansas; his two uncles, Levi 
Reichel, La Crosse, Kansas, and Travis Reichel, Madison, Nebraska; and 
his six cousins, Tommy Reichel, Evelynn Reichel, Noah Reichel, Madilynn 
Reichel, Willow Reichel, and Bentley Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Neal and Opal 
Reichel, and William “Bill” Frederick Cecil, Sr., and Jacqueline 
“Jackie” Bernadine Cecil.

Memorial service will be Friday, May 27, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the 
First Christian Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Pastor Mark Sizemore and
 Pastor Nick Kaufmann – Mamisashvili officiating.&nbsp;

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to 
Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri, or Ronald McDonald

Braxton Dean Reichel

Twila M. Francis passed away at her home Friday, May 20, 2022, at the 
age of 89. She was born on November 17, 1932, in Lucas, Kansas to Edward
 and Velma (Duncan) Naegele. She was united in marriage to William T. 
“Bill” Francis on June 8, 1952. The couple was blessed with three 
children: Russ, Karma, and Glenda.
 Twila was a lifelong resident of Lucas. She worked as a homemaker on
 the dairy farm, raising her children, milking cows, and helping with 
her grandkids. If she wasn’t working outside, you could find her in the 
kitchen. She was a phenomenal cook and baker. You could always look 
forward to a hearty meat and potatoes meal followed up with a baked pie 
or other sweet treat. It is said that the kitchen is a gathering place 
for friends and family where memories are homemade and seasoned with 
love. No matter what great food Twila was preparing, it was always done
 with unconditional love for family and friends. While those amazing 
smells from her kitchen will be greatly missed, the sweet aroma of her 
kindness, tenderness, and love will be with us forever.
 Later she started a part time job at USD 407 helping in the kitchen.
 She enjoyed seeing and getting to know all the kids as well as making 
good friends with her coworkers. Twila also enjoyed many years raising 
her beloved Pugs. She always had a pug around until later in her life. 
Her summers were spent taking their annual vacation with her Sister 
(Wilmetta) and Brother-in law. No matter where the adventures took them 
they had a great time. Her favorite vacation spot was Las Vegas where 
she would test her luck at the casinos, and even won a time or two. 
Twila was a collector of Indians (If you have ever been to her house you
 would know) she has a special Indian from each one of her kids and 
grandkids that she proudly displayed. Anyone that knew Twila, knew that
 she was an avid KU fan and rarely ever missed a game. She was so 
excited over the National Championship she taped the game and watched 
over and over again just as excited as the first time she saw the game. 
She had a zest for life and lived life to its fullest.			 
 
 She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Velma Naegele; 
husband, William “Bill” Francis; and brother-in-law, David Dick.
 Survivors are children, Russ Francis, Karma Habiger, Glenda (Mark) 
Buttenhoff of Lucas; sister, Wilmetta Dick of Lucas, KS; four 
grandchildren, Jade Ward, Kayla McGinnes, and Logan and Layne 
Buttenhoff; two great-grandchildren, Chalee and Gage Francis.
 A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 10:30AM 
at the Lucas United Methodist Church in Lucas, Kansas. There will be no

Patricia Ann Searle Ward, 90, of Casper, Wyo., passed away Friday, 20 May, 
2022 at Central Wyoming Hospice &amp; Transitions of Casper. Patricia
 was born on March 24, 1932 in Cincinnati OH to the late Victor Searle 
and the late Anna Ruetepohler Searle. She graduated from Yokohama 
American high school in 1950 while her father was stationed overseas as 
part of U.S. occupation forces in Japan. She married William “Bill” 
Ward in 1952 while they were students at University of Oklahoma. He 
supported her continued education and degrees. She earned her Bachelor’s
 degree from Southeastern. Louisiana. She earned Master’s and Education 
Specialist degrees from Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS . They had a
 daughter and son who knew their mom was always in school. They traveled
 various oil field towns until they settled in Russell KS from 1963-mid 
1980s when Bill had his last transfer and retirement in Casper, WY. Patricia
 was an accomplished Language Arts middle school teacher at Ruppenthal 
Middle School in Russell, KS and had published book on learning packets 
and simulation game. In Casper, she volunteered for Habitat for 
Humanity, English as Second Language tutoring at Casper College, VITA 
taxes for senior citizens among other activities. She and her husband 
Bill traveled and fished extensively in Mexico, British Columbia and 
visited New Zealand numerous times. She routinely caught the biggest 
fish of any family members. She proudly supported her children’s adult 
projects and her grandchildren’s activities-careers. She is 
survived by two children: Kathryn (Jeri Kinser) Ward of Carbondale &amp;
 Cobden, IL, William “Bill” Ward (Beth) of Denver NC. She is also 
survived by her beloved twin sister Barbara Henthorn, and favorite 
niece, Susan Henthorn Hurst. She’s also survived by two grandchildren: 
William (Gwen) Ward and Rebecca (Vlad) Ward. And special son, John 
Cameron, special friends Linda Slone, Laura Burback, Cheryl VonRiesen, 
Louise Russell, and numerous church friends, neighbors &amp; 
volunteers. She was an other mother to many in Casper and beyond in her 
listening and charitable activities including Highland Church. Up until 
her time of death, she was an avid reader and drove around Casper. She

Lester Gene Satchell, 75, of Russell, Kansas, died on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the Medicalodges in Goddard, Kansas.

Lester was born on January 27, 1947, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of 
E. Paul and Irene Emma (Waymaster) Satchell.&nbsp; He grew up in Bunker Hill,
 Kansas and graduated from Bunker Hill High School.&nbsp; After high school, 
he attended Ft. Hays State University for a short while.&nbsp; In 1966 he 
joined the United States Marine Corp from 1966 to 1970 and fought in the
 Vietnam war.&nbsp; After serving his country he worked in California as an 
owner and operator of his own electrical business.&nbsp; He later went back 
to college and received his bachelor’s degree in education and taught as
 a special education teacher for about 15 years.&nbsp; He was a member of the
 Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 and the Russell American Legion Post #99 and 
was an avid reader.

Surviving family include his mother Irene Satchell of Russell, 
Kansas; daughter Ranea D. Satchell of Wichita, Kansas and sister Rebecca
 Speicher of Russell, Kansas.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his father E. Paul Satchell and step 
brothers Eddie, Roy and Paul Satchell. 

Cremation has been selected by the family. &nbsp;

Due to large amounts of rain at the cemetery and poor road conditions, the funeral service location has changed.

A memorial service to celebrate Lester’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Family will greet guests the day of the service.&nbsp; Military honors will be presented by the Russell V.F.W. Charles Harlan “Ske” Skelton, 90, passed away May 24, 2022, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, KS.

He was born August 24, 1931, in Larned, KS, the son of Nelse N. and 
Mary Ruth Hazel Combs Skelton. A lifetime Larned resident, he was a 
retired Electrician for the City of Larned, where he worked for 25 
years.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Noon Lions Club, was a 
Volunteer Fireman for the Larned Fire Department for 20 plus years, all 
of Larned. He enjoyed coin collecting, golf, doing crossword puzzles and
 loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. 
He also served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.

On June 11, 1952 he married MaryAlice in Larned.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include: son, Jay (Beth) Skelton, Perry, KS; two 
daughters, Janene (Steven) Soeken, Ellinwood, KS, Karan (Keith) Rudolph,
 Montgomery, AL; brother, Jack (Connie) Skelton, Larned, KS; seven 
grandchildren, Jon (Karren) Skelton, Nicole (Mike) Cloud, Joshua Skelton
 (Melissa), Heather (Travis Maley) Skelton, Kirstie (Scott) Wuerdeman, 
Adam (Kylee) Soeken, Craig (Kate) Soeken; fifteen great grandchildren 
and many nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Skelton, Neal 
Skelton, and three sisters, Mary Brothers, Ruth Deckert, Hazel Callahan.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2022 at Beckwith 
Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Ryan Webster presiding.&nbsp; Visitation will

Charles Harlan 'Ske' Skelton

June Anne Ellis, age 61 years, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away on 
Sunday evening, May 22, 2022, at the University of Kansas Health Systems –
 Great Bend Campus in Great Bend after a sudden illness.&nbsp; She leaves 
behind a huge void with words unable to explain our loss.&nbsp; June was born
 on June 29, 1960, at Beloit, Kansas, to Harold Duane and Betty Jean 
(Mott) Sibley.&nbsp; 

June graduated from Beloit High School in 1978 and then 
graduated from North Central Vocational Technical School in Beloit with a
 Degree in Accounting and Office Management.&nbsp; She married the love of 
her life Todd Andrew Ellis on July 7, 1984, at Beloit, Kansas. They were 
blessed with three sons:&nbsp; Joshua Dean, Tyler Andrew, and Matthew 
Edward.&nbsp; After moving to Great Bend in 1984, June was employed as Office
 Manager by Dove Chevrolet for 20 years and then another 4 years after 
it became Marmie Chevrolet.&nbsp; Her hobbies included time spent with family
 and laughs with friends, spoiling her grandkids and loving Todd.

June is survived by her husband Todd A. Ellis of Great Bend, Kansas; 
three sons:&nbsp; Joshua Dean (&amp; Taylor) Ellis, Tyler Andrew Ellis, and 
Matthew Edward Ellis all of Great Bend, Kansas; four grandchildren:&nbsp;

Sunday evening, May 22, 2022, at the University of Kansas Health Systems –
 Great Bend Campus in Great Bend after a sudden illness.&nbsp; She leaves 
behind a huge void with words unable to explain our loss.&nbsp; June was born
 on June 29, 1960, at Beloit, Kansas, to Harold Duane and Betty Jean 
(Mott) Sibley.&nbsp; June graduated from Beloit High School in 1978 and then 
graduated from North Central Vocational Technical School in Beloit with a
 Degree in Accounting and Office Management.&nbsp; She married the love of 
her life Todd Andrew Ellis on July 7, 1984, at Beloit, Kansas. They were 
blessed with three sons:&nbsp; Joshua Dean, Tyler Andrew, and Matthew 
Edward.&nbsp; After moving to Great Bend in 1984, June was employed as Office
 Manager by Dove Chevrolet for 20 years and then another 4 years after 
it became Marmie Chevrolet.&nbsp; Her hobbies included time spent with family
 and laughs with friends, spoiling her grandkids and loving Todd.June is survived by her husband Todd A. Ellis of Great Bend, Kansas; 
three sons:&nbsp; Joshua Dean (&amp; Taylor) Ellis, Tyler Andrew Ellis, and 
Matthew Edward Ellis all of Great Bend, Kansas; four grandchildren:&nbsp;

Davanna "Dee" G. Justice, 61, of Woodbine, KS, &nbsp;formerly of Rush, Barton, and Ellis counties, passed away Saturday, May 21st, 2022, at the Via Christi Village, in Manhattan. She was a co-owner of Citywide Security in Topeka.&nbsp; Davanna G. Fletcher was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 4, 1961, the daughter of the late Linda and Charles Fletcher. Anne Laura Marie Werth Klaus, 93, died Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Hays Medical Center. She was born December 28, 1928, on the family farm near Schoenchen, Kansas, the daughter of Wendelin and Brigitta (Dinges) Werth.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Edwin Klaus September 13, 1949, in Schoenchen. He died September 20, 2007, shortly after their 58th anniversary.&nbsp; Laura grew up on the family farm west of Schoenchen with her 10 brothers and sisters and attended school in Schoenchen. When her mother became ill, Laura stayed home to help take care of her younger siblings. She continued in that role after her mother’s death in 1946, until she was married.&nbsp; She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she helped with many funeral dinners and was a member of the St. Joseph’s Christian Mothers. She also attended the Perpetual Adoration Chapel regularly. Laura loved to cook but was most well-known for the numerous rugs she crocheted for people. She loved music, playing her accordion, card games and family get togethers. Laura Klaus

Margaret Ann (Hughes) Cain, 68, passed away on May 8, 2022, at Hays 
Medical Center, Hays Kansas. Margaret lived in Colby, Kansas, since 
March of this year. She was born in Scott City, Kansas to John Kenneth 
and Gloria Ann (Nodine) Hughes. She grew up in Leoti, Kansas and 
attended R.B.S.E.S Elementary and Wichita County High School. She 
graduated with the class of 1972. After graduation from high school she
 attended school in Goodland to become a cosmetologist. She married 
Dennis Cain in 1989. Margaret had one daughter, Jonell Sekavec of Hoxie,
 Kansas. 
 In 2017, she moved back to Leoti with her life partner Rick Kessler. 
 Margaret worked as a cosmetologist for over 27 years. Margaret 
enjoyed crocheting hand towels and potholders and spoiling her two dogs 
Gin and Dacota. Most of all in life she loved her grandchildren she 
enjoyed watching them play the sports they loved.
 Margret leaves to morn her loss, her only daughter Jonell Sekavec 
and husband Jeremy of Hoxie, Kansas; grandchildren, Kaden Sekavec 
(Destiny Clark), Macon Sekavec, and Onna Sekavec all of Hoxie, Kansas; 
brothers, Charles Hughes and wife Connie Leoti, Kansas and Timothy 
Hughes of LaCrosse, Kansas; sister-in-law, Dana Cain (Cheryl) of 
Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Dustin Hughes, Debi Hughes, Cody Hughes, 
Tyler Hughes, and Kalyn Hughes; as well as her great nieces and many

Margaret Ann (Hughes) Cain

Douglas Wayne Carmichael passed away on May 22, 2022, in Hays, Kansas, at
 the age of 60. He was born on April 15, 1962, in Hays, Kansas, to Wayne 
and Lynn (Amos) Carmichael. He was united in marriage on August 3, 1990,
 in Hays, to Andrea Dome. They were married for 30 years. The couple was
 blessed with two children: Katie and Jessie. 
 Doug grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School
 with the class of 1980. He furthered his education at Fort Hays State 
University and earned a Wildlife Biology Degree. Following college, he 
attended Jack Cassidy Guide School in Gunnison, Colorado, and went to 
work for Wyoming Game and Fish as a guide in the forest service. Doug 
later returned to Rooks County and went to work for the Kansas 
Department of Wildlife and Parks as a warden and park manager of Cedar 
Bluff State Park. Later, he farmed and ranched for the remainder of his 
years. Doug was an outdoor enthusiast and a lover of wildlife. He 
enjoyed his time spent camping at the lake, hunting and fishing, and you
 could always look forward to his grilling or smoked dishes that were 
seasoned with his special “Doug’s Seasoning”. Aside from the love he had
 for the outdoors, wildlife, and random pets he would gather, he was a 
devout family man and loved his kids and grandkids unconditionally.
 Doug was a hardworking, loving, and dedicated family man. Although 
he will be greatly missed, his life, his love, and his legacy will live 
on in the hearts of his family and friends.
 He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Lynn Carmichael of 
Plainville, KS; daughters Katie (Cody) Rehmer of Colby, KS and Jessie 
Carmichael (Valley Scharping) of Manhattan, KS; sisters, Pam (Alan) 
VonFeldt of Andover, KS, Jana (Rick) Nyland of Phillipsburg, KS; two 
grandchildren, Kaelynn and Kyler Rehmer; and niece, Leah Nyland.

Douglas Wayne Carmichael

David William Lewis,75, Topeka, Kansas, passed away on May 23, 2022. 
 David was born December 17, 1946, in Arlington, Virginia, the son of 
Albert and Faye Baker Lewis. He was raised in Hays, Kansas, by his half 
brother, Ray Hayes and Ray’s wife, Theresa. David graduated from St. 
Joseph Military Academy in Hays. He moved to Topeka in 1970. He was a 
business owner during most of his working life and was also known as a 
commercial real estate developer. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, 
Quail Unlimited and was very active in the Boys and Girls Club. 
 He is survived by his children, Michelle Koelling (Duke), Janet Lewis 
and Mark Lewis (Amy); grandchildren, Gunner, Hunter and Dallas Koelling,
 Karli Ludolph (Austin), Tyler Lemon, and Austin and Madison Lewis; 
great-grandchildren, Avery Ludolph and Gabriella Lewis; companion of 30 
years, Cheryl Logan; and Cheryl’s daughter, Elizabeth Johnson (Andrew). 
He was preceded in death by four siblings and four half siblings. His children want to say thank you for always being on our side.

brother, Ray Hayes and Ray’s wife, Theresa. David graduated from St. 
Joseph Military Academy in Hays. He moved to Topeka in 1970. He was a 
business owner during most of his working life and was also known as a 
commercial real estate developer. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, 
Quail Unlimited and was very active in the Boys and Girls Club. 
 He is survived by his children, Michelle Koelling (Duke), Janet Lewis 
and Mark Lewis (Amy); grandchildren, Gunner, Hunter and Dallas Koelling,
 Karli Ludolph (Austin), Tyler Lemon, and Austin and Madison Lewis; 
great-grandchildren, Avery Ludolph and Gabriella Lewis; companion of 30 
years, Cheryl Logan; and Cheryl’s daughter, Elizabeth Johnson (Andrew). 
He was preceded in death by four siblings and four half siblings. His children want to say thank you for always being on our side.

Wanda was born November 7, 1930, in Stockton, Kansas, one of six children to&nbsp;Raymond&nbsp; andDorilda&nbsp;(Manny)&nbsp;LaBarge.&nbsp;She was&nbsp;raised in Damar,&nbsp;Kansas, and&nbsp;resided mostly in Missoula, Montana.&nbsp;She moved to&nbsp;Washington’s Olympic Peninsula in 2015 to be closer to her son, Kelly.

Wanda worked as a beautician for much of her life, but her family was always her true passion.&nbsp; She loved to play pinochle and she was an incredible gardener.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Wanda is survived by her son Kelly (Debby) Brault; sisters Delores Newell, Marilyn (John) Zimmerman and Barbara&nbsp;LaBarge&nbsp;Duran and her brother Eldon (Karen)&nbsp;LaBarge. Wanda Jane Brault

Mary Arlene (Laas) Bain passed away peacefully and surrounded by love
 on May 22, 2022, at her home in Ness City, KS surrounded by love. She 
was born on April 4, 1931, to Jacob and Mary (Schneider) Laas in Utica, KS
 and was the youngest of 11 children. Mary was a 1949 graduate of Ness 
City High School and shortly after graduation married Donald L. Bain in 
July 1949 &amp; had six children.

Throughout her life, Mary had many achievements including becoming a 
Realtor for Coldwell Banker in the mid 1980s. She worked for the Ness 
County Treasurers Office, Ness County Hospital in Medical Records, and 
the Ness City Public Library and was an active &amp; avid 
member/supporter of the United Methodist Church, the Ness County 
Historical Museum, and the Gradatim Club. To know Mary was to value the 
appreciation of joy she found in simplicity; a call or visit from family
 or friends, listening to favorite hymns or reading her Bible and 
spending hours outside, especially in her gardens - which if you ever 
had the pleasure of seeing, was like stepping into a Better Homes &amp; 
Gardens magazine (but better than Martha Stewart, as mom would say). In 
2016, Mary was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease which she fought 
bravely &amp; forcefully until the very end. She did not lose the battle
 against this enemy; she became the Victor of Freedom over its 
debilitation, never wavering from her faith or allowing her 
strength/mind succumb to such defeat.&nbsp;

Mary was the epitome of a matriarch, the literal glue that bound her 
family together and will leave a tremendous void in all that loved and 
knew her. She leaves behind her wonderful children; Debbie (Bain)

Mary Arlene Bain

Donald Eugene Bethel passed away on May 21, 2022, in Plainville, Kansas 
at the age of 83. He was born on March 2, 1939, to Charles and Rose 
Bethel in Hartley, Iowa. Donald was united in marriage on December 24, 
1959, to Patricia Ann (Cain) Bethel. The couple was blessed with four 
sons: Greg, Scott, David, and Jason.
 Don grew up in Hartley, Iowa and attended Hartley High School. He 
was drafted by the United States Army to serve in the Korean War from 
1956 until his honorable discharge in 1959. He moved to Rooks County 
where he met his wife, Pat; they moved several times but always managed 
to return to the county they would call home. Don worked several jobs 
from repair work, to well service and tools, but his love was raising 
black angus cattle and farming the land to feed them. He enjoyed his 
time outdoors, fishing, hunting, mechanic work and stock car racing; and
 ending his day with the coldest beer he could find! He was tough but 
fair, straightforward, and honest. Don had an eye for detail and never 
missed spotting something out of place, out of the ordinary, or a deer. 
He was a member of the VFW Post 8871 and was also one of the original 
founders of the Plainville Rescue Squad.
 Don was an honorable man of integrity and hard work ethic. May his 
legacy be to love your family and country, to work hard, and at the end 
of the day, enjoy a nice cold beer.
 He is survived by his wife Pat of the home in Plainville, KS; sons, 
Greg (Jennifer) Bethel of Schoenchen, KS, Scott (K’Ann) Bethel of Palco,
 KS, David Bethel of Plainville, KS, Jason (Jamie) Bethel of Plainville,
 KS; sister, Alice Betten of Iowa; ten grandchildren and five 
great-grandchildren.
 Don is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose Bethel;

Evan William Hopkins, 20, died Sunday, May 15, 2022, at
 St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born March 6, 2002, in 
Garden City, Kansas the son of Todd Alan &amp; Julie Ann (Gallaher) 
Hopkins. 
 Evan grew up in Garden City, where he attended Garden City schools 
and graduated from Garden City High School in 2020. He then moved to 
Manhattan, Kansas, where he has been an Agronomy student at Kansas State
 University. Evan had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed spending 
his time fishing, camping, hiking, and as an Eagle Scout he loved 
teaching scouting to younger Boy Scouts. He also had a love for animals
 and computers. Evan was a member of Venture Crew, Boy Scouts of 
America, and while in high school was on the high school Trap Shooting 
Team. 
 Survivors include his mother Julie Ann Hopkins of Manhattan, KS; a 
brother Brendan Hopkins of Manhattan, KS; a sister Cara Hopkins of St. 
Louis, MO; and his grandmothers Minnie M. Miller of Garden City, KS, and
 Carol Hopkins of Great Bend, KS. Evan is preceded in death by his 
father Todd Alan Hopkins; and his grandparents Les Hopkins, William 
Gallaher and Kathleen Gallaher.

Evan William Hopkins

Carolyn Julia (Eller) Harvey passed away peacefully at the Bethesda 
Home in Goessel, Kansas, on May 20, 2022, at the age of 82. She was born 
November 13, 1939, to George LeRoy Eller and Hazel Irene (Proctor) Eller 
on a farm in Smith County, Kansas. She was the youngest of five 
children.

Carolyn attended school in Gaylord, Kansas, and graduated from high
 school in 1957. Soon after graduation, she moved to Denver, Colorado to
 work as a clerk in a downtown Denver business.

While working in Denver, Carolyn met Loren Harvey while Loren and 
her brother, Paul Eller, were in training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri.
 On June 14, 1959, they were married at the First Nazarene Church in 
Gaylord. The young couple established their home in Beloit, Kansas.

Carolyn and Loren were blessed with two sons, Leroy and Eric. 
Carolyn was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her 
family in this manner during the early years of her sons’ lives.

In 1970, she was the Lead Census taker for Mitchell County, 
Kansas. After completing her tenure in this role, she provided daycare 
for other families in the family home. In 1980, she began as a 
substitute food service worker for USD 273 in Beloit, and was soon a 
full-time food service worker at Beloit Elementary School.

Carolyn loved reading, sewing clothes for her sons, cross 
stitching, canning vegetable from the family garden, making baby 
blankets for friends and family, doing puzzles, playing cards, and 
attending activities for Leroy and Eric. During her retirement, Carolyn 
enjoyed camping with friends, volunteering at the church, Mitchell 
County Hospital, and on the Mitchell County election board, and of 
course, attending the activities of her grandchildren as often as 
possible. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in 
Beloit, the United Methodist Women, and the Order of the Eastern Star in
 Beloit and later in Clay Center.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Loren; son Leroy and wife 
Winsome of McPherson, Kansas; three grandchildren, Gavin, Collin, and 
Isabella; two sisters-in-law, Betty Eller and Elaine Eller; as well as 
many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces 
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bernice 
and Blache; brothers, Richard and Paul; and her son, Eric.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, May 26, at the Beloit 
First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM Wednesday 
at the Roberts Family Funeral Home.

 given to the Church, Solomon Valley Hospice of Beloit, Nicol Home of 
Glasco, Good Shepherd Hospice of Newton, or the Bethesda Home of

possible. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in 
Beloit, the United Methodist Women, and the Order of the Eastern Star in
 Beloit and later in Clay Center.Carolyn is survived by her husband Loren; son Leroy and wife 
Winsome of McPherson, Kansas; three grandchildren, Gavin, Collin, and 
Isabella; two sisters-in-law, Betty Eller and Elaine Eller; as well as 
many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces 
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bernice 
and Blache; brothers, Richard and Paul; and her son, Eric.Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, May 26, at the Beloit 
First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM Wednesday 
at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
 given to the Church, Solomon Valley Hospice of Beloit, Nicol Home of 
Glasco, Good Shepherd Hospice of Newton, or the Bethesda Home of

Roger Dwain Robinson, 65, of Oberlin passed away on May 20, 2022, at his 
home with his family by his side. Roger was born on Jan. 4, 1957, in 
Bridgeport, NE to William “Bill” and Dorothy (Hamilton) Robinson.
 Roger grew up in Bayard, NE and attended Bayard High School.

He 
married Nancy Gabel on March 1, 1975, in Bayard, NE. To that union, they 
had 2 children: Chris and Tiffany. For many years, Roger took care of 
all the maintenance needs at the Decatur County Courthouse. In his 
spare time, he loved to read and work on his woodworking projects. But 
most of all he loved spending time with his family.
 Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy Robinson of Oberlin, KS; 
children: Chris (Kristin) Robinson of Jacksonville, FL and Tiffany 
(Tyler) Witt of Oberlin, KS; grandchildren: Trevor and Tessa Witt of

Howard Eugene Bosley, 83, passed away on May 22, 2022, at Harry Hynes
 Inpatient Unit in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on August 15, 1938, to 
Glenn and Helen (Portenier) Bosley in Haigler, Nebraska. Howard married 
Phyllis Bantam on August 24, 1958 in Orleans, Nebraska. She survives.

Coming from communities in Nebraska and Kansas, Howard was a Great

 Natural Gas Co., from which he retired in 1993. He was a member of the 
First Presbyterian Church of Great Bend and Ellsworth where he served as
 an elder and deacon, lifetime member of ASME International, member of 
Jaycees, Rotary International, Lions Club, Lake Barton Golf Club, and a 
founding member of First Step Recycling. Howard was an avid golfer and 
Huskers football fan.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Eugene (Cindy) 
Bosley, Robert (Tammy) Bosley, Eric (Jennifer) Bosley; eleven 
grandchildren, Brandon (Bree), Melanie, Chancelor, Layne, Wright, Shane,
 Wynn, Hope, Andrew, Grant, and William Bosley; two step-granddaughters,
 Ashley Smith and Mallory (Austin) Case; and four 
step-great-grandchildren, Emma Stroda, Kade Benedict, Carter Case, 
Apollo Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, 
Christina Bosley Whitley; and a brother and sister-in-law, Leslie 
(Norma) Bosley.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A 
celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date at the First 
Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Kathleen Luke presiding. In lieu of

Hilary Dominic Dreiling was born in 
Victoria, Kansas, April 10, 1929, to Herman P. and Pauline (Windholz) 
Dreiling.&nbsp; He married Florence Fern (Naiman) Dreiling, June 21, 1962, in
 St. Joseph’s Church, Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on 
Friday, February 1, 2009.

He had bachelor’s, master’s, and 
specialists’ degrees from Fort Hays State University. He also did 
graduate work at Wichita State University. He was a member of the Newman
 club, Half Century Club, and Phi Delta Kappa.

He taught at Quinter and Marion high 
schools for six years, and was a school principal for Salina, Claflin, 
and at Garden City for 20 years. Prior to being principal, he was the 
school district business manager at USD 457, Garden City, Kansas.

He served in the US Navy during the 
Korean War from 1948 to 1952. His first duty was aboard a ship, the USS 
Atlanta CL 104 for one year, as an office clerk he was then transferred 
to a naval administration building, Commander Western Sea Frontier, 
Treasure Island, San Francisco, California for his remaining three 
years, prior to his honorable discharge, as a Petty Officer.

He was a former member of the Victoria 
VFW and the Hays American Legion, the Claflin Lions Club, and a number 
of school administrative organizations.

Survivors include a brother, Julius H.&nbsp; Dreiling, Victoria; Two sisters, Tina Kuhn, Victoria and Leona Hatfield,
 Hays, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 
parents; A sister, Ada Pfeifer, and three nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be on 
Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Saint Joseph's Church, Hays, 
Kansas. Visitation will be at the Church from 9:30 to 10:00. Private 
inurnment will be at a later date in the Basilica of Saint Fidelis 
Church Cemetery, Victoria.

James LeRoy Whipple, 88 passed away May 21, 2022, at Hodgeman County Intermediate Swing Bed, Jetmore, Kansas.

He was born March 29, 1934, in Powers County, Colorado, the son of 
James Bowie and Winnifred Burk Whipple. A longtime area resident; he was
 the Owner/Operator of the Jim Whipple Service Station.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Jetmore; the Jedidiah
 Smith Muzzleloaders, was a charter member of the full Gospel 
International mens group, the Pairs and Squares Square Dancers and the 
Jetmore Fire Department.

On November 25, 1954, he married Marcella DeLaney in Tribune, Kansas.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include; three daughters, Marcia (Jay) Hahn, Hanston,
 Marla (Jay) Burns, Hutchinson and Marlene Maupin, Jetmore; a brother, 
David Whipple, Jetmore, eight grandchildren and thirteen great 
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by; a daughter, Machele Reneé Whipple, a 
brother, Henry Whipple, two sisters, Alberta Reiger and Roberta Winget.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jetmore United 
Methodist Church, with Reverend Mark Durham and Pastor Peter Mtuamwari

Richard A. Dodson, 71, died May 19, 2022 ending his ongoing challenges 
with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born June 14, 1950, in Albuquerque, New 
Mexico, the youngest son of Martha E. (Delgado) Nielson and Conrad C. 
Dodson. Rick, after leaving home at age 14, was semi-adopted by 
his new chosen family, the Schmidts of Hays, Kansas. He later became a 
graduate of St. Joseph’s Military Academy. Rick earned degrees in both 
Business Management and Psychology from the University of New Mexico and
 joined corporate America working for Litton Industries as a regional 
sales manager. He started his own marketing and management consulting 
company (Drake Systems, Inc.), in 1986, in Tulsa. Retiring in 2007, Rick
 with his wife, Robin, spent most of their time being grandparents to 
five grandchildren from their five children. Aside from various 
philanthropic endeavors, Rick stayed active in golf and tennis with a 
special group of fraternal friends known as the “Rafters”. In 2017, upon
 receiving his terminal illness prognosis, Rick bought a small farm just
 a mile away from his and Robin’s home. There, he spent many days 
clearing the land, tending to the chickens, ducks, and gardens. Allowing
 him to once again relive the “good life” he fondly remembered from 
Kansas that brought him the appreciation of humility and the inner peace
 of simplicity. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in
 death by his older brother, Bob Dodson. Surviving, in addition to his 
beloved wife and best friend, Robin, are his sister, Carol Stringfield 
and her husband, Foster; Rick’s five children: Adam, Kristy, Clay, 
Stephanie, and Jordan and their respective partners and by his “Little 
Monkeys” and magical grandchildren: Jaxsen, Alexis, Addison, Connor, and
 Norah. Rick chose to be cremated in lieu of a funeral. He asked
 that a donation be made to the Rafter Living Tree Memorial c/o Indian 
Springs Rafter Fund. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service &amp; Crematory.&nbsp;

Richard A. Dodson

Kellie Rae (Murphy) Connell, age 54, of Murray, KY, passed away on 
Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House 
in Murray. She was surrounded by her loving family after a long, 
difficult, and courageous fight with metastatic melanoma.

Kellie was born April 9, 1968, in Independence, MO. She spent most of
 her formative years in Hays, KS, where she graduated from Hays High in 
1986. She attended the University of Kansas and Missouri State 
University. Kellie worked for Kraft Foodservice in Salem, MO where she 
met the love of her life, Jay Connell. They were married in the Harper 
Chapel United Methodist Church in Osage Beach, MO. Kellie, Jay, and 
their family moved to Murray in 2000.

Kellie and Jay's love story continued for almost 29 years of marriage
 and were blessed with two beautiful, strong, and very capable 
daughters, Madison Mendel (Jason), Atlanta, GA, and Kendra (fiancé Cole 
Riley), Murray, KY.

Kellie was also survived by her loving parents, Don and Carole 
Murphy, and her sister and lifelong friend, Kimberly (Murphy) Gomez, of 
Spring Hill, TN.

Kellie loved her life, family, friends, and her God. Kellie was the

Church. She was most proud of being a great wife and mother. Kellie was 
always first in line to volunteer her time at fund-raisers, carpooling 
kids to and from sporting events, and providing afterschool child-care 
for her friends. She was so very proud of the wonderful young women that
 she and Jay ushered into adulthood. Kellie's life was shortened, but no
 less full of love, and accomplishments.

A celebration of Kellie's life will be announced at a later date.

 </figure>Kellie Rae (Murphy) Connell, age 54, of Murray, KY, passed away on 
Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House 
in Murray. She was surrounded by her loving family after a long, 
difficult, and courageous fight with metastatic melanoma.Kellie was born April 9, 1968, in Independence, MO. She spent most of
 her formative years in Hays, KS, where she graduated from Hays High in 
1986. She attended the University of Kansas and Missouri State 
University. Kellie worked for Kraft Foodservice in Salem, MO where she 
met the love of her life, Jay Connell. They were married in the Harper 
Chapel United Methodist Church in Osage Beach, MO. Kellie, Jay, and 
their family moved to Murray in 2000.Kellie and Jay's love story continued for almost 29 years of marriage
 and were blessed with two beautiful, strong, and very capable 
daughters, Madison Mendel (Jason), Atlanta, GA, and Kendra (fiancé Cole 
Riley), Murray, KY.Kellie was also survived by her loving parents, Don and Carole 
Murphy, and her sister and lifelong friend, Kimberly (Murphy) Gomez, of 
Spring Hill, TN.Kellie loved her life, family, friends, and her God. Kellie was the
