Della Nora Deatherage, 88, passed away Tuesday, May 
24, 2022.&nbsp; On February 20, 1934, Della took her first breath as the 
daughter of Albina and Miles Lantz.&nbsp; She was the tenth of eleven 
children.

Della grew up to be the Rodeo Queen of Sylvan Grove, KS and graduated
 from Sylvan Grove High School in 1952. She then worked at the Tower 
Café in Russell, KS where she met Donald, her lifelong partner of 66 
years. They moved around chasing oil wells and ended up in Salina with 
three kids in tow.&nbsp; Della became manager for Gibson’s Hardware on 
Broadway. She started injecting and spraying trees which developed into 
Greenburst Lawns where she never stopped working.

She loved to go to bingo and the casino when she could and also loved
 shopping and auctions. She had her dogs to keep her company when her 
husband and daughter passed. I think the memories got the best of her 
and in the early hours on May 24th she took her last breath and left us 
peacefully.

Della was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Deatherage; daughter, Cheryl Deatherage; and all her siblings.

She is survived by her sons, Don Ray and Edward Dean; three 
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and
 friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022, at First Christian Church.

Terry Legleiter, age 66, of Hays, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society - Hays.

Cremation occurred&nbsp;under the direction of Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

A memorial service is planned for Terry in early 2023, when his family is able to gather together.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by his son:&nbsp;Tyler; 
grandson: Taethon; brother: Darrell&nbsp;Legleiter (Nadine); sisters: Kathy 
Dreher; Sheri Hayslip (Jerry); and Sandy Bradshaw (Marc). Also two bonus
 grandchildren: Lincoln and Annie Brown, together with their mother, 
Jackalyn "Jax" Brown.

Lloyd Henry Gemaehlich “Shorts” was born December 20, 1931, in Akron, 
Colorado, to William and Mary (Grauerholz) Gemaehlich.  He passed away on
 May 30, 2022, at the age of 90 at Smith County Memorial Hospital. 

He 
was confirmed at St John’s Lutheran Church on March 25, 1945. Lloyd 
attended and graduated from Kensington High School in 1949. He enlisted
 in the U.S. Army in April 1952 and served during the Korean War in 
Alaska until discharge in 1954. Lloyd was united in marriage to 
Margaret J Malik on August 4, 1957. He worked at the grain elevator in 
Scott City for many years. While living in Hays worked at the DMV until
 he retired and they relocated to Estes Park, where he was employed part
 time at the YMCA. 
 Preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret J, sisters Leona 
(Reinhardt) Kuhlmann, Clara (Vernon) Beckmann, brothers LeRoy (Margaret 
C) and Kenneth Gemaehlich. 
 Survivors are son Donald Gemaehlich of Chandler, AZ and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.&nbsp;

Erica Joan Murphy, age 42, of Oakley, passed away May 29, 2022, at Logan
 County Hospital from a 14-month fight with cancer, with her loving 
family at her side. On March 19, 1980, she was born in Eureka, KS to 
Jack and Carol (Lumley) Deniston. She was a graduate of Scott Community 
High School in Scott City KS, she attended Colby Community College where
 she studied to be a vet tech. She was a member of the Oakley Christian 
Church in Oakley, KS. 
Erica was united in marriage to the love of her life, Michael James Murphy on June 19, 2020. 
Erica worked for Dr. Bowers, veterinarian, in Colby; Loves, in Colby; as
 a para for the school system in Oakley, as a CNA, and a Certified 
Medical coder for Logan County Health Services and her most recent job 
as a Certified coder for Logan County Hospital in Oakley. 
Erica enjoyed the outdoors. She loved to play softball each summer. 
Hunting was the highlight of her winter activities and fishing was the 
thing she enjoyed most in the summer. She and Mike could sit on the boat
 on a lake from sunup to dark fishing. Most days they would catch their 
limit. 
Erica loved gardening and canning the vegetables she grew. She also 
raised goats. On her birthday in 2021, one of her expectant mamma goats 
was sick and about to die, which would have caused the unborn baby goats
 to die. With the help of a vet over the phone, she was able to do a 
C-section and deliver three small but healthy baby goats that she named 
Three, Nineteen, and Eighty, her birthdate. 
She loved all animals. Malaika, a german shepherd, was one of her 
favorite dogs, though she has long since passed. Last year, Erica needed
 a support animal to help her get through cancer. She got Todd and he 
gave her so much joy. 
She loved her house plants and she had several in her office at work. She even managed to grow an avocado tree from a seed. 
As the children, Chloe, Jakob, Taylor, and Wyatt grew up, Erica and Mike
 spent a lot of time attending their activities such as Cross Country, 
Forensics, Choir, Football, and Wrestling. She loved her kids and was 
very proud of them. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, Paxton, Aviah, 
Theodore, and Jonah. 
Her loving family includes her parents, Jack and Carol Deniston; 
husband, Mike; sister, Elise, and niece Hayla Edwards; daughter, Chloe 
Bley; son Jakob Bley; stepsons, Taylor Murphy (Nikki) and Wyatt Murphy 
(Baylee); second daughter Avery Evins; and grandchildren, Paxton, Aviah,
 Theodore and Jonah Murphy. 
Preceding her in death were grandparents, Marvin and Evelene Lumley, Earl Deniston, and Bill McKenzie.

John
 W. Marlett Jr., 73, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on 
Friday, May 27, 2022, surrounded by family at Wesley Medical Center, 
Wichita.&nbsp; He was a master machinist at Midwest Industries. &nbsp;He also was a
 master gunsmith, and in his younger years, he worked at his father’s 
A&amp;W Restaurants in Hays, McPherson and Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; John 
served in the United States Army Reserve.

He
 was born on March 16, 1949, in Larned, KS, the son of John William 
Marlett, Sr. and Betty Janiel (Brack) Marlett.&nbsp; He graduated from Hays 
High School and attended Salina Vo-Tech.&nbsp; On June 7, 1968, John was 
united in marriage to Joyce A. “Jo” Shearhart in Hays, KS.&nbsp; 

John was a life member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors
 include: his loving wife of nearly 54 years, Jo of the home; sons, John
 Marlett, III (Nicole) of McPherson, KS, Michael Marlett of Council 
Bluffs, IA, Matthew Marlett of McPherson, KS, Mark Marlett (Corry) of

from Marymount College of Nursing as an RN.&nbsp; Carolyn met the love of her
 life, Gilbert Urban, at a polka wedding dance. They were married 
shortly after on October 12, 1957, in Larned.

Carolyn was a devoted mother to her 5 children while continuing her 
career as a pediatric nurse at St. John Hospital and later at Salina 
Clinic. She enjoyed attending Saturday night dances with Gilbert and 
friends, gardening, sewing, and singing in the Sacred Heart Cathedral 
and St. Mary’s Church choirs.

Survivors include: her children Cathy Reynolds (Jim), Connie Holloway
 (Sam), Cheryl Mersman (Ron), Teresa Marshall (Eric), and Joe Urban 
(Renee); 19 grandchildren; 23 great-children; and sister, Mary Lou 
Wheeler. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, parents,
 granddaughter, Elise Holloway, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, with vigil 
service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Mass of

Carolyn Clara Finger Urban

Paula D. Miller, age 51, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, at the 
Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on June 25, 
1970, the daughter of William &amp; Barbara Wilken Miller.&nbsp; A resident 
of Winfield, Kansas since 1992, moving from Scott City, Kansas, she was a
 high school math teacher for USD #470 in Arkansas City, Kansas.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Scott City, Kansas, 
NEA, KNEA, and Delta Kappa Gamma.&nbsp; Paula graduated from Scott Community 
High School in 1988.&nbsp; In 1992, she received her Bachelor's Degree in 
Secondary Math Education and then her Master's Degree in Mathematics in 
2000, both from Emporia State University.&nbsp; Paula was awarded with the 
Exceptional Educator Award twice while teaching in Arkansas City, 
Kansas.

Survivors include her Parents - William “Bill” and Barbara Miller of 
Scott City, Kansas, One Brother - Dak &amp; Monique Miller of Scott 
City, Kansas, One Niece - Anna &amp; Lane Hayes of Scott City, Kansas, 
and One Nephew - Lance Miller of Scott City, Kansas, One Great Nephew - 
Weston Hayes of Scott City, Kansas, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and 
Cousins.

She was preceded in death by her Grandparents and One Aunt - Margaret Scalia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, 
at the First Christian Church in Scott City, Kansas with Rev. Rodney

1970, the daughter of William &amp; Barbara Wilken Miller.&nbsp; A resident 
of Winfield, Kansas since 1992, moving from Scott City, Kansas, she was a
 high school math teacher for USD #470 in Arkansas City, Kansas.She was a member of First Christian Church in Scott City, Kansas, 
NEA, KNEA, and Delta Kappa Gamma.&nbsp; Paula graduated from Scott Community 
High School in 1988.&nbsp; In 1992, she received her Bachelor's Degree in 
Secondary Math Education and then her Master's Degree in Mathematics in 
2000, both from Emporia State University.&nbsp; Paula was awarded with the 
Exceptional Educator Award twice while teaching in Arkansas City, 
Kansas.Survivors include her Parents - William “Bill” and Barbara Miller of 
Scott City, Kansas, One Brother - Dak &amp; Monique Miller of Scott 
City, Kansas, One Niece - Anna &amp; Lane Hayes of Scott City, Kansas,

Betty Miller Sack, 90, passed away May 28, 2022, at Hays Medical 
Center, Hays.&nbsp; She was born June 26, 1931, at St. Louis, Mo., to Raymond
 and Hilda (Weirch) Drake.&nbsp; Betty married Lee Miller Oct. 4, 1949, and 
later divorced.&nbsp; She then married Leroy Sack Oct. 1, 1983, at Great 
Bend.&nbsp; He survives.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Betty, a resident of Great Bend since 1956 coming from Gove County, 
was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society.&nbsp; She 
was a bookkeeper and secretary for Chase Well Service, Darnell Truck 
Service and the Credit Union, and not being afraid of hard work, ironed 
and sold Avon in her younger years.&nbsp; She enjoyed playing cards at the 
Senior Center, bowling until her health would not allow, and was 
committed to praying the Rosary.&nbsp; Betty made her children a priority and
 cherished time with her grandchildren, traveling to all of their events
 and activities.

Survivors include her husband Leroy Sack; one son, Robert Miller of 
Shawnee; two daughters, Cathy Peacock of Las Vegas, Nev. and Pam Miller 
Finley of Great Bend; two brothers, Kenneth Drake and wife Barbara of 
Hazleton, Pa., and Chuck Frederich and wife Louise of Spring Branch, 
Texas; step son, David Sack and wife Lana of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nine 
grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.&nbsp; She was preceded in passing 
by a brother, Raymond “Jr.” Drake; sister, Delores Ferrao and her 
husband Warren; son in law, David Peacock; step daughter Debbie Sack; 
one grandson, Wesley Turnball; and Lee Miller’s brother and wife, Harold

Betty Miller Sack

LaVerne Madgalene Luebbers, age 85, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 
2022, at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. She was born
 on January 7, 1937, to Herman &amp; Anna Palkowitsh Kuehler in Lasara, 
Texas. A resident of Marienthal since 1940, she was a homemaker and 
office clerk for the FSA offices in Scott City, Kansas, and Lakin, 
Kansas, and worked for the Wichita County Treasures office.

She was a member of St. Mary’s church in Marienthal, Kansas where she
 was a volunteer for the Altar Society and a member of the Daughters of 
Isabella. She volunteered as a member of the Wichita County Hospital 
Volunteers and served on the Senior Center board. She was a volunteer on
 the SWKAAA Sub Region 3 Board and SWKAAA board of directors. She was a 
member of the Patchwork Quilt Guild.

LaVerne married August Luebbers on May 24, 1955, in Sharon Springs, Kansas. He survives.

Survivors include her husband - Gus Luebbers of Marienthal, Kansas, 
and four sons, Jerome &amp; Darla Luebbers of Leoti, Kansas, Dennis 
&amp; Mary Sue Luebbers of Hutchinson, Kansas, Bill &amp; Marilyn 
Luebbers of Leoti, Kansas, Tony &amp; JaLene Luebbers of Garden City, 
Kansas, two daughters, Berta &amp; Hugh Binns of Scott City, Kansas, Bev
 &amp; Tim Smith of Paola, Kansas, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-one

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ralph and Elmer, and one granddaughter, Annie Luebbers.

Betty M. (Perrin) Lee, 79, passed away March 24, 2022, in St. James, Missouri.

She was born May 21, 1942, the daughter of Clarence and Bernice 
(Edgell) Perrin at the farm home in Allison Township in Decatur County, 
Kansas.&nbsp; She attended the Allison 3D &amp; S rural school district.&nbsp; 
Then she attended Jennings Rural High School, graduating with the class 
of 1960.

Betty was baptized at the Allison Christian Church on June 17, 1951 
and attended several Christian churches in Salina, Hays and Pawnee 
Rock.&nbsp; In 1972, she became a member of the Bergthal Mennonite Church, 
north of Pawnee Rock.&nbsp; She remained a member there until she moved to 
Smith Center, where she transferred her membership to the First 
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

She went to Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina, for two years and 
finished her studies at Fort Hays Kansas State, earning her BA in 
English with a minor in French.

Betty married Donald F. Lee on January 22, 1964.&nbsp; They had two 
children, Michelle A., born July 23, 1967 and Frank E. born July 23, 
1972.&nbsp; They were married 33 years when Donald passed away April 24, 
1997.

She began her teaching career at Pawnee Rock High School where she 
taught English for 3 years.&nbsp; She then went to Larned High School where 
she taught English and journalism and sponsored the high school 
newspaper and yearbook.&nbsp; She taught in Larned for 35 years.&nbsp; After 
retiring, she spent several more years in Pawnee Rock, living there for a
 total for 40 years and then moved to Smith Center, to be with her son 
Frank and his family. She moved to Newberg, Missouri in June 2020 to 
live with her daughter, Michelle.

She and Donald had several foster boys live with them; Steve Crosby, 
Larry Crosby, William Kloepping, Jaime Chism and Dick Porter.

Betty was preceded in death by an infant sister, her parents, her 
husband, maternal grandparents and paternal grandmother, and one 
brother-in-law.

Her survivors include; her daughter, Michelle and companion Rob 
Walters of Newburg, MO; a son, Frank and wife Jennifer and 
grandchildren, Andrea, Brendan, and Addisyn of Smith Center, sisters; 
Carolyn (John) Ronning of Salina and Eula Doggett of Saugerties, NY, a 
brother, Willard (Tina) Perrin of Oberlin, numerous relatives and 
friends including special friends, Laura Cormack and Patricia DePriest 
and their families.

Memorial Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2022,&nbsp; at Pawnee Rock Cemetery, Pawnee Rock, Kansas.&nbsp; Family requests friends 
to join them for a visitation immediately following the service at The

from dental assistant school.&nbsp; She worked as a dental assistant, and for
 25 years was an aircraft machinist at Boeing Wichita.&nbsp; She was a great 
cook, the life of the party, could make anyone laugh, and never judged 
people too harshly.&nbsp; Her hobbies included bingo, gardening, gambling, 
playing games on her tablet, and dancing.

Survivors include a daughter: Stephanie
 Werth of Hays, a son: Todd Werth of Udall, three sisters: Laurine Werth
 of Hays, Mary Ann Rindt of Wichita, and Genavive “Jenny” Mendenhall of 
Wichita, four grandchildren: Lidia Werth, Zachary Werth and wife 
Jessica, Alysha Werth-Bieberle and husband Zell, and Tanner Diehl, and 
numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her 
parents, her husband: General Sherman “Dude” Thomas, seven brothers: 
Ernest Werth, Glenn Richard Werth, Norman Steve Werth, Irvin Lee Werth,

 25 years was an aircraft machinist at Boeing Wichita.&nbsp; She was a great 
cook, the life of the party, could make anyone laugh, and never judged 
people too harshly.&nbsp; Her hobbies included bingo, gardening, gambling, 
playing games on her tablet, and dancing.Survivors include a daughter: Stephanie
 Werth of Hays, a son: Todd Werth of Udall, three sisters: Laurine Werth
 of Hays, Mary Ann Rindt of Wichita, and Genavive “Jenny” Mendenhall of 
Wichita, four grandchildren: Lidia Werth, Zachary Werth and wife 
Jessica, Alysha Werth-Bieberle and husband Zell, and Tanner Diehl, and 
numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her

Cheryl Kay (Werth) Thomas

Freddie R. Lamm, son of Mildred Jean (Pfeiffer) and Henry Silas Lamm 
Jr., was born September 11, 1955, in Boonville, Missouri, and departed 
life on May 26, 2022, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, 
Kansas, surrounded by his loving family. 
Freddie was raised on a farm outside of Wooldridge, Missouri, until 1976
 when his parents retired from farming and moved to Boonville, Missouri.
 Freddie attended the University of Missouri and earned a Bachelor of 
Science in Agricultural Engineering and a Master’s Degree in 
Agricultural Engineering. While working at the Kansas State University's
 Colby Branch Experiment Station he earned his Doctoral Degree of 
Agricultural Engineering and subsequently earned his Professional 
Engineering license. 
Freddie was a compassionate person and not only believed but lived a 
life by Luke 12:48, “For unto whom much is given, much is expected.” 
This was shown by how he dedicated his efforts to helping others, such 
as, the College View Baptist Church, Colby After School Program, Thomas 
County Genesis Food Bank, Jana’s Campaign, and donating proceeds from 
his published works to farmers. Freddie enjoyed politics and was always 
up for a lively discussion. 
One of Freddie’s proudest moments of 2022, would be completing his 43rd year working at the Kansas State University Northwest Research-Extension Center. During his 
time at NWREC, Freddie was always at the cutting edge of irrigation 
research and contributed to internationally recognized technologies: 
sub-surface drip irrigation. His contributions were further recognized 
by his Irrigation Association Man of the Year award and being named a 
Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological 
Engineering. 
He leaves to mourn his passing, wife Donna of Colby; children Elaine, Brooklyn, NY, Henry Silas IV, Naperville, IL; Rachel (Chelston Ketting), stationed at 
Hurlburt Field, FL and Sarah, Lawrence, KS; siblings Sharon Whitley, 
Henry Silas III (Gail), and Greg; and nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carol. 
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, 
at the Berean Church, Colby, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. 
Interment will take place in the Dresden Cemetery, Dresden, KS.

Phyllis Elaine Archer, 68, of Ellis Kansas, passed away on April 
28th, 2022.&nbsp; Phyllis was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on March 13th, 1954.
 Phyllis graduated from Lamar High School and continued on to receive a 
business degree from Ottawa University.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Mike Archer on August 10th, 2011. 
They were married 10 years.&nbsp; Phyllis worked as a credit manager for the 
Garden City Co-op for 17 years and retired in 2019.&nbsp; Phyllis enjoyed 
cooking, crocheting, spending time with her grandchildren and great 
grandchildren, riding motorcycles, and spending time on the lake.

Phyllis is survived by Mike, her husband, her children Scot Orozco, 
Patty Cordoba-Marentes, Selyna Brown, Luie Orozco, &amp; Felip Orozco. 
18 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, and other family and 
friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by Her first husband Luiz 
(Blackie/Ramon) Orozco, Elizabeth and Norval King (Her Mom and Dad), 
Celia Snodgrass (Sister), Joseph “Grant” King (brother), Lea Orozco 
(daughter), and granddaughter Juanita Calderon-Cordoba.

Larry “Flash” Samuel Kuhlmann passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 
Redbud Village in Plainville, KS at the age of 74. He was born on April 
8, 1948, to Clarence Samuel and Geraldine Dorthea (Prosser) Kuhlmann in 
Athol, KS. He married Patricia Garrison on October 30, 1967, in Hill 
City, KS. They were blessed with 4 children: Jack, Lori, Carol, and 
Christa. 
 Flash grew up in Athol and attended schools in Athol, Smith Center, 
and Kensington. After school he worked wherever he could as a tractor 
and auto mechanic; John Deer, Solar Farms, Mid-America International, 
Winchell, and Taylor Fuel Systems.
 Flash loved coon hunting, fishing, mowing his yard, Nascar races, 
working on cars, and “Gunsmoke”; but most of all he loved his family and
 spending time with his grandkids. Flash was a good-hearted man who 
worked hard, enjoyed life and cherished his family and friends. 
Although he will be greatly missed, his love and memories will be with 
us forever.
 Left to survive Flash are his children, Jack (Deidra) Kuhlmann of 
Stockton, KS, Lori Pasilas of Norton, KS, Carol (Randy) Axelson of 
Stockton, KS, and Christa (John) Cleaves of Belleville, IL; brother, Bob

Christopher Joseph Redetzke, 44, died May 27, 2022, at his second 
home, Wilson Lake.&nbsp; He was born January 30, 1978, in Hoisington, Kansas,
 the son of Gregory F. and Bernice M. (Rubio) Redetzke.&nbsp; Chris was a 
member of the Hoisington High School Class of 1996.

In 2004 he married Erika Landers and together they had six children.&nbsp; They later divorced but remained close friends.

A lifetime Hoisington resident, Chris worked in the oil field as a 
driller with LD Drilling for the last 25 years.&nbsp; He was confirmed in St.
 John the Evangelist Catholic Church.&nbsp; Chris could most often be found 
at Lake Wilson, he loved camping and everything to do with lake life. He
 also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and he especially loved watching his
 boys compete in wrestling.

He is survived by his six children; Tausha, Aiden, Eastin, Xavier, 
Taylor and Kylee Redetzke; his father, Greg Redetzke of Susank; brother,
 James Redetzke of Great Bend; sisters, Shauna Siebert of Great Bend and
 Breanna Baker of Hoisington; his companion, Ginny McAnulla; life 
partner, Erika Spencer of Andover; and step father, Joe Baker of 
Hoisington; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice (Rubio) Baker and all of his grandparents.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home with
 family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and Rosary to begin at 7 p.m.

Christopher Joseph Redetzke

Davanna "Dee" G. Justice, 61, of Woodbine, KS, passed away Saturday, May 21st, at the Via Christi Village, in Manhattan.  She was a co-owner of Citywide Security in Topeka and co-owner of the Drain Doctor of Woodbine.

Davanna G. Fletcher was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 4, 1961, the daughter of the late Linda and Charles  Fletcher.  She was formerly married to Willard A. Justice, with whom they had dated since the age of 16, and he survives.

Davanna is also survived by a daughter, Deborah Anne (Andrew) Pinkstaff, of Colorado Springs, CO; a step-daughter, Melissa (William) Boles, of Manhattan, a step-son, David Dodds, of Missouri;  two brothers, Charles Fletcher, Omaha, NE and Morgan Countryman, of Texas; sister Callie Brayton, Republic KS, ten grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.  Dee was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Marie Justice, and her parents. 

At her request, inurnment will follow after the cremation, at the McCracken City Cemetery, McCracken, KS.

Davanna 'Dee' Gay Justice

Glennace Mowry Kirn was born
 July 2, 1929, on a farm north of Gorham, KS, to Floyd Albert and Mary 
Josephine (Frank) Mowry.&nbsp; She passed away May 26, 2022.&nbsp; When she was 
three years old, the family moved to a farm southwest of Plainville, KS,
 where she grew up and attended Windy Ridge rural school.&nbsp; 

She graduated
 as co-valedictorian from Plainville High School with the class of 
1947.&nbsp;She then moved to Salina 
where she attended Brown-Mackie School of Business, graduating from the 
Executive Secretarial Class.&nbsp; While in school, she worked part time at 
Gebhart Hardware Store, Salina, until graduation at which time she 
became employed in the office of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, 
becoming secretary to the District Plant Superintendent.&nbsp;

On August 11, 1951, she was 
united in marriage to Ralph Maurice Kirn of Solomon at the old Sacred 
Heart Cathedral in Salina.&nbsp; To this union, one son, Larry Joseph, and 
four daughters, Linda Marie, Cynthia Anne, Rebecca Louise and Julia 
Elaine were born.&nbsp; At the time of their marriage, they moved to a farm 
southeast of Minneapolis where Ralph farmed and raised sheep.&nbsp; When 
Romer of KS opened in March 1960, Ralph became the first plant 
superintendent and the family moved into Minneapolis in December of that
 year.&nbsp;

Glennace was a stay-at-home 
mother until she took employment with the Minneapolis Messenger in the 
fall of 1967.&nbsp; In 1972, she became the Minneapolis Grade School 
secretary, a job she held for 22 years, retiring in 1994.&nbsp; With the 
assistance of many others, she was the founding director of Love INC (In
 the Name of Christ) of Ottawa County, a most fulfilling job she held 
for 13 years, retiring at the age of 80 on August 5, 2009.&nbsp; She was also
 a member of the Catholic Church all of her life;&nbsp; the governing board 
of Central Kansas Mental Health Center for 25 years; the Ottawa County 
Ministerial Association for 20 years, the Ottawa County Mental Health 
Education Committee, the Ottawa County Health Planning Commission, the 
Ottawa County Democrats, and other boards.&nbsp; In 2007, she was awarded the
 local Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award and in 2009 was 
awarded the Volunteer Hero of the year for an 18-county area by the 
American Red Cross.

She is survived by her son, 
Larry (Josh Rabinowitz); daughters, Linda Hardy, Cindy Huth (Jeff), 
Becky Gassman (Dennis) and Julie Kirn (Bill Kuhn); grandchildren, 
Maxwell, Aaron, Dylan, Devon, Mindy, Micah, Missy, Michaela, Tanner,

 July 2, 1929, on a farm north of Gorham, KS, to Floyd Albert and Mary 
Josephine (Frank) Mowry.&nbsp; She passed away May 26, 2022.&nbsp; When she was 
three years old, the family moved to a farm southwest of Plainville, KS,
 where she grew up and attended Windy Ridge rural school.&nbsp; She graduated
 as co-valedictorian from Plainville High School with the class of 
1947.&nbsp;She then moved to Salina 
where she attended Brown-Mackie School of Business, graduating from the 
Executive Secretarial Class.&nbsp; While in school, she worked part time at 
Gebhart Hardware Store, Salina, until graduation at which time she 
became employed in the office of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, 
becoming secretary to the District Plant Superintendent.&nbsp;On August 11, 1951, she was 
united in marriage to Ralph Maurice Kirn of Solomon at the old Sacred 
Heart Cathedral in Salina.&nbsp; To this union, one son, Larry Joseph, and 
four daughters, Linda Marie, Cynthia Anne, Rebecca Louise and Julia 
Elaine were born.&nbsp; At the time of their marriage, they moved to a farm 
southeast of Minneapolis where Ralph farmed and raised sheep.&nbsp; When 
Romer of KS opened in March 1960, Ralph became the first plant 
superintendent and the family moved into Minneapolis in December of that
 year.&nbsp;Glennace was a stay-at-home 
mother until she took employment with the Minneapolis Messenger in the 
fall of 1967.&nbsp; In 1972, she became the Minneapolis Grade School 
secretary, a job she held for 22 years, retiring in 1994.&nbsp; With the 
assistance of many others, she was the founding director of Love INC (In
 the Name of Christ) of Ottawa County, a most fulfilling job she held 
for 13 years, retiring at the age of 80 on August 5, 2009.&nbsp; She was also
 a member of the Catholic Church all of her life;&nbsp; the governing board 
of Central Kansas Mental Health Center for 25 years; the Ottawa County 
Ministerial Association for 20 years, the Ottawa County Mental Health 
Education Committee, the Ottawa County Health Planning Commission, the 
Ottawa County Democrats, and other boards.&nbsp; In 2007, she was awarded the
 local Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award and in 2009 was 
awarded the Volunteer Hero of the year for an 18-county area by the 
American Red Cross.She is survived by her son, 
Larry (Josh Rabinowitz); daughters, Linda Hardy, Cindy Huth (Jeff), 
Becky Gassman (Dennis) and Julie Kirn (Bill Kuhn); grandchildren, 
Maxwell, Aaron, Dylan, Devon, Mindy, Micah, Missy, Michaela, Tanner, 
Trayer, Diane, Greg and Hannah; and eleven great-grandchildren.&nbsp;Preceding her in death were

Glennace Mowry Kirn

Kenneth B. Moore was born in Berkeley, California on January 11, 
1941, to Lonzo B and Betty Lou Moore. His 9-year-old brother Don 
welcomed him home.&nbsp; Ken died on May 26, 2022, at the age of 81years. He 
is preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, and first wife 
Nettie.

Ken’s father, Lonzo, died when he was 6 years old but was a guiding 
influence through his life.&nbsp; Lonzo was a teacher for a college in 
Berkeley when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Most of Lonzo's students were 
arrested because they were Japanese. This was the first experience that 
contributed to Ken’s later call to a ministry with disenfranchised 
members of society. His family returned to Oklahoma City where Lonzo 
resumed his former position as an attorney writing laws for the Oklahoma
 Legislature. Lonzo also co-authored newspaper articles advocating 
women’s rights, another experience which contributed to Ken’s call to 
ministry and exposed him to the plight of those in less powerful 
positions.

After his father’s death, Ken and his family moved to Memphis, 
Tennessee.&nbsp; He graduated from college in 1963 and felt called to 
minister to people in need. However, Ken was drafted into the Army in 
1963 and spent 2 years as an aide in the Physical Therapy Clinic at Ft. 
Bragg, NC.&nbsp; Following his years of service, Ken married Nettie Bergman. 
They had twin sons-- Jonathan Mark and David Matthew. Ken then completed
 his first master's degree in Old Testament.&nbsp; Following completion of 
seminary, Ken was called into the ministry of law enforcement. As a law 
enforcement officer, Ken served 20 years as patrol officer, 
investigator, undersheriff, sheriff, and chief of police. Additionally, 
Ken served 17 years as a Special Agent in the Army Reserve Criminal 
Investigation Command (CID). As appointed Sheriff of Dickinson County, 
Ken hired the first female patrol deputy for that department. Ken also 
worked closely with the local domestic violence/sexual assault center 
and with drug/alcohol counselors to establish an emergency hotline for 
Dickinson County.

Ken later moved to Hutchinson and taught criminal justice for 15 
years.&nbsp; Many of his former students work in the criminal justice system,
 especially law enforcement. Ken married Dr. Carol Schrock Miller at 
First Mennonite Church in Hutchinson, KS, and became a stepfather to her
 three children, Kristine, James, and Katharine.

Following retirement from teaching, Ken worked part-time doing 
in-home family therapy with families involved in juvenile court 
through-out southcentral Kansas.&nbsp; He then became Director of Reno County
 Community Corrections where he helped develop a drug court that 
continues to serve the community today. Ken continued his work with 
families as a mediator in Restorative Justice’s family group 
conferencing with juvenile offenders and their victims in Wichita and 
Reno County. He also served as a member of the Kansas Advisory Group to 
the Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority and represented the State of 
Kansas on the federal Juvenile Justice Committee for the U.S. Justice 
Department's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Ken 
returned to law enforcement in 2013 as Cawker City's law enforcement and
 code enforcement officer. He retired from his service in 2018.

Ken is survived by his wife Dr. Carol Moore, his children Jonathan 
(wife Shelly of Abilene, KS and their daughters – Rachael, (husband 
Cody, Salina, KS), Alyssa (husband Richie and daughter Nora, Salina, 
KS), and Katie (Abilene, KS)), and David (wife Staci, Little Rock, AK), 
and stepchildren Kristine (husband Dr. Scott Sullivan, Augusta, KS and 
children Zoe and David), James (wife Regina Miller, Wichita, KS and 
their children Cameron and Camille), and Dr. Katharine Miller (Las 
Vegas, NV).

From Ken:&nbsp; I have had the most amazing life. I owe everything 
wonderful in my story to my God. I have seen God throughout my life. 
Thank you, my God, for your almost daily showing yourself alive in 
situations I had limited control over. I felt like Joseph in the Bible, 
“The Lord was with him and the Lord blessed everything he did.”&nbsp; Genesis
 39:3.&nbsp; Shalom, Salaam, and Peace to all.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at First 
Mennonite Church, 52 Rambler Road, Hutchinson, with Pastors Tonya Wenger
 and Jim Unruh officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the church 
columbarium.&nbsp; Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor 
Guard.&nbsp; Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at

Kenneth B. Moore

Velda Mae Spencer, 88, died Friday, May 27, 2022, at High Plains 
Retirement Village Assisted Living in Lakin, Kansas. She was born 
December 2, 1933, in Pratt County, Kansas, the daughter of Wymer J. 
&amp; Lotus L. (Blair) Cartwright. 
 Velda moved with her family North of Kendall, Kansas when she was a
 young child. She attended Kendall elementary schools and later 
graduated from Syracuse High School in 1951. On July 21, 1951, she 
married Robert Jack Spencer in Syracuse, Kansas. They made their home 
on the family farmstead South of Kendall, where Velda was a loving 
mother, homemaker, and partner with “Farmer Bob.” Velda was a member of
 the Kendall United Methodist Church, the Meno Women’s Group, Syracuse 
Bowling League, and served on the Kendall School Board. She enjoyed 
spending her time bowling, ceramics, China painting, and sewing. 
 Survivors include three children Kathy &amp; husband Dave Sampselle
 of Taneytown, Maryland, Tammy Spencer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 
and Kyle &amp; wife Karla Spencer of Scott City, Kansas; two 
grandchildren Dirk &amp; wife Heather Sampselle and Zachary Spencer; and
 two great grandchildren Macayla and Audrey. 
 Velda is preceded in death by her husband Robert who died on 
December 28, 2018. She is also preceded in death by a son Darwin 
Spencer; three brothers Edward Dean Cartwright, Lowell Cartwright, &amp;
 Ronnie Cartwright; and a sister Ione Harlow. 
 A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Time, on 
Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse, Kansas with

Velda Mae Spencer

Jeannie Marie Mater, 78, beloved mother, grandmother, and great 
grandmother, died at her home in Hoisington, surrounded by family, on 
May 27, 2022. She was born August 25, 1944, in Ellsworth, Kansas, the 
daughter of Walter “Earl” and Myrtle Nora (Maynard) Thornton.&nbsp; Jeannie 
was a 1962 graduate of Ellsworth High School.

A longtime Hoisington resident she worked as a CNA for Home Health in
 La Crosse, Kansas, and later as a CNA and ward clerk for Clara Barton 
Hospital retiring in October of 2020. Jeannie was involved in 4-H for 
many years with her children. She was an excellent cook and baker and 
was best known for her kolaches, elephant ears and her pepper jelly.

Survivors include; five daughters, Stacey Vincent of Hoisington, 
Dulcy Palnau, Corrie Mater, Audrey (Chad) Kirkman, and Sarah Mater, all 
of Wichita; a sister, Charlotte Brown of Puyallup, Washington; eight 
grandchildren, April (LaShon) VanSyoc of Hoisington, Tristan Palnau of 
Wichita, Brody Nicholas of Osage City, Payton Steiner, Aidan Palnau, 
both of Wichita, Braxton Nicholas of Hoisington, Orvis and Theodore 
Kirkman both of Wichita; and three great grandchildren, Ki, Nora, and 
Ella VanSyoc.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Aaron Nicholas; a sister, Veatress Webb, and a brother, Earl “Junior” Thornton.

Jeannie Marie Mater

Frank Rohleder, was born December 17, 1926 at home, near St. Peter Kansas.

He was the second child born to Peter and Anna (Pfeifer) Rohleder. 
Frank served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in the Philippines 
from 1945 to 1946. He returned swearing he would never eat rice again or
 go on a cruise. And he never did either.

He met the love of his life Marcella Marie Norton in Park, Kansas in 
the summer of 1948. Their first date was a blind date to the movies with
 friends. They married on August 30, 1950 at the Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church in Park Kansas. They enjoyed 71+ years of married life.

The happy couple moved to Aurora Colorado in November 1955. Frank 
worked in the Grocery industry for the majority of his career until 
suffering a stroke at the age of 58.

Frank’s passions included, caring for the yard, polka, politics, 
baseball, and cheering for his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Frank loved his family unconditionally and will be missed and 
cherished by all. Frank went to heaven on May 1st, 2022. He is survived 
by his wife, Marcella Rohleder, five children, Marylyn Young, Gary 
Rohleder, Randy Rohleder, Sharon (Terry) Andrews, Lyle (Julie) Rohleder 
and dozens of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great 
grandchildren, his brother Richard Rohleder and sister Ramilda Richmeier
 and their families.

Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, May 31st&nbsp;at 10:30 a.m. at 
the Wakeeney Veteran’s Cemetery followed by a reception from 11 a.m. to 1
 p.m. at the Wakeeney V.F.W. Wearing Kansas City Chiefs colors (Red 
&amp; Yellow) are encouraged.

 </figure>Frank Rohleder, was born December 17, 1926 at home, near St. Peter Kansas.He was the second child born to Peter and Anna (Pfeifer) Rohleder. 
Frank served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in the Philippines 
from 1945 to 1946. He returned swearing he would never eat rice again or
 go on a cruise. And he never did either.He met the love of his life Marcella Marie Norton in Park, Kansas in 
the summer of 1948. Their first date was a blind date to the movies with
 friends. They married on August 30, 1950 at the Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church in Park Kansas. They enjoyed 71+ years of married life.The happy couple moved to Aurora Colorado in November 1955. Frank 
worked in the Grocery industry for the majority of his career until 
suffering a stroke at the age of 58.Frank’s passions included, caring for the yard, polka, politics, 
baseball, and cheering for his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs.Frank loved his family unconditionally and will be missed and 
cherished by all. Frank went to heaven on May 1st, 2022. He is survived 
by his wife, Marcella Rohleder, five children, Marylyn Young, Gary 
Rohleder, Randy Rohleder, Sharon (Terry) Andrews, Lyle (Julie) Rohleder 
and dozens of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great 
grandchildren, his brother Richard Rohleder and sister Ramilda Richmeier
 and their families.Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, May 31st&nbsp;at 10:30 a.m. at 
the Wakeeney Veteran’s Cemetery followed by a reception from 11 a.m. to 1
 p.m. at the Wakeeney V.F.W. Wearing Kansas City Chiefs colors (Red 
&amp; Yellow) are encouraged.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation (via check) to either 
the Kansas Veteran's Cemetery at&nbsp;Wakeeney&nbsp;or the Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church of Park Kansas.
