Phyllis Elaine Archer, 68, of Ellis Kansas, passed away on April 
28th, 2022.&nbsp; Phyllis was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on March 13th, 1954.
 Phyllis graduated from Lamar High School and continued on to receive a 
business degree from Ottawa University.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Mike Archer on August 10th, 2011. 
They were married 10 years.&nbsp; Phyllis worked as a credit manager for the 
Garden City Co-op for 17 years and retired in 2019.&nbsp; Phyllis enjoyed 
cooking, crocheting, spending time with her grandchildren and great 
grandchildren, riding motorcycles, and spending time on the lake.

Phyllis is survived by Mike, her husband, her children Scot Orozco, 
Patty Cordoba-Marentes, Selyna Brown, Luie Orozco, &amp; Felip Orozco. 
18 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, and other family and 
friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by Her first husband Luiz 
(Blackie/Ramon) Orozco, Elizabeth and Norval King (Her Mom and Dad), 
Celia Snodgrass (Sister), Joseph “Grant” King (brother), Lea Orozco 
(daughter), and granddaughter Juanita Calderon-Cordoba.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Larry “Flash” Samuel Kuhlmann passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 
Redbud Village in Plainville, KS at the age of 74. He was born on April 
8, 1948, to Clarence Samuel and Geraldine Dorthea (Prosser) Kuhlmann in 
Athol, KS. He married Patricia Garrison on October 30, 1967, in Hill 
City, KS. They were blessed with 4 children: Jack, Lori, Carol, and 
Christa. 
 Flash grew up in Athol and attended schools in Athol, Smith Center, 
and Kensington. After school he worked wherever he could as a tractor 
and auto mechanic; John Deer, Solar Farms, Mid-America International, 
Winchell, and Taylor Fuel Systems.
 Flash loved coon hunting, fishing, mowing his yard, Nascar races, 
working on cars, and “Gunsmoke”; but most of all he loved his family and
 spending time with his grandkids. Flash was a good-hearted man who 
worked hard, enjoyed life and cherished his family and friends. 
Although he will be greatly missed, his love and memories will be with 
us forever.
 Left to survive Flash are his children, Jack (Deidra) Kuhlmann of 
Stockton, KS, Lori Pasilas of Norton, KS, Carol (Randy) Axelson of 
Stockton, KS, and Christa (John) Cleaves of Belleville, IL; brother, Bob

Larry 'Flash' Samuel Kuhlmann

Christopher Joseph Redetzke, 44, died May 27, 2022, at his second 
home, Wilson Lake.&nbsp; He was born January 30, 1978, in Hoisington, Kansas,
 the son of Gregory F. and Bernice M. (Rubio) Redetzke.&nbsp; Chris was a 
member of the Hoisington High School Class of 1996.

In 2004 he married Erika Landers and together they had six children.&nbsp; They later divorced but remained close friends.

A lifetime Hoisington resident, Chris worked in the oil field as a 
driller with LD Drilling for the last 25 years.&nbsp; He was confirmed in St.
 John the Evangelist Catholic Church.&nbsp; Chris could most often be found 
at Lake Wilson, he loved camping and everything to do with lake life. He
 also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and he especially loved watching his
 boys compete in wrestling.

He is survived by his six children; Tausha, Aiden, Eastin, Xavier, 
Taylor and Kylee Redetzke; his father, Greg Redetzke of Susank; brother,
 James Redetzke of Great Bend; sisters, Shauna Siebert of Great Bend and
 Breanna Baker of Hoisington; his companion, Ginny McAnulla; life 
partner, Erika Spencer of Andover; and step father, Joe Baker of 
Hoisington; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice (Rubio) Baker and all of his grandparents.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home with
 family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and Rosary to begin at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at
 St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.&nbsp; Burial will follow in St.

Christopher Joseph Redetzke

Davanna "Dee" G. Justice, 61, of Woodbine, KS, passed away Saturday, May 21st, at the Via Christi Village, in Manhattan.  She was a co-owner of Citywide Security in Topeka and co-owner of the Drain Doctor of Woodbine.

Davanna G. Fletcher was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 4, 1961, the daughter of the late Linda and Charles  Fletcher.  She was formerly married to Willard A. Justice, with whom they had dated since the age of 16, and he survives.

Davanna is also survived by a daughter, Deborah Anne (Andrew) Pinkstaff, of Colorado Springs, CO; a step-daughter, Melissa (William) Boles, of Manhattan, a step-son, David Dodds, of Missouri;  two brothers, Charles Fletcher, Omaha, NE and Morgan Countryman, of Texas; sister Callie Brayton, Republic KS, ten grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.  Dee was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Marie Justice, and her parents. 

At her request, inurnment will follow after the cremation, at the McCracken City Cemetery, McCracken, KS.

Glennace Mowry Kirn was born
 July 2, 1929, on a farm north of Gorham, KS, to Floyd Albert and Mary 
Josephine (Frank) Mowry.&nbsp; She passed away May 26, 2022.&nbsp; When she was 
three years old, the family moved to a farm southwest of Plainville, KS,
 where she grew up and attended Windy Ridge rural school.&nbsp; 

She graduated
 as co-valedictorian from Plainville High School with the class of 
1947.&nbsp;She then moved to Salina 
where she attended Brown-Mackie School of Business, graduating from the 
Executive Secretarial Class.&nbsp; While in school, she worked part time at 
Gebhart Hardware Store, Salina, until graduation at which time she 
became employed in the office of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, 
becoming secretary to the District Plant Superintendent.&nbsp;

On August 11, 1951, she was 
united in marriage to Ralph Maurice Kirn of Solomon at the old Sacred 
Heart Cathedral in Salina.&nbsp; To this union, one son, Larry Joseph, and 
four daughters, Linda Marie, Cynthia Anne, Rebecca Louise and Julia 
Elaine were born.&nbsp; At the time of their marriage, they moved to a farm 
southeast of Minneapolis where Ralph farmed and raised sheep.&nbsp; When 
Romer of KS opened in March 1960, Ralph became the first plant 
superintendent and the family moved into Minneapolis in December of that
 year.&nbsp;

Glennace was a stay-at-home 
mother until she took employment with the Minneapolis Messenger in the 
fall of 1967.&nbsp; In 1972, she became the Minneapolis Grade School 
secretary, a job she held for 22 years, retiring in 1994.&nbsp; With the 
assistance of many others, she was the founding director of Love INC (In
 the Name of Christ) of Ottawa County, a most fulfilling job she held 
for 13 years, retiring at the age of 80 on August 5, 2009.&nbsp; She was also
 a member of the Catholic Church all of her life;&nbsp; the governing board 
of Central Kansas Mental Health Center for 25 years; the Ottawa County 
Ministerial Association for 20 years, the Ottawa County Mental Health 
Education Committee, the Ottawa County Health Planning Commission, the 
Ottawa County Democrats, and other boards.&nbsp; In 2007, she was awarded the
 local Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award and in 2009 was 
awarded the Volunteer Hero of the year for an 18-county area by the 
American Red Cross.

She is survived by her son, 
Larry (Josh Rabinowitz); daughters, Linda Hardy, Cindy Huth (Jeff), 
Becky Gassman (Dennis) and Julie Kirn (Bill Kuhn); grandchildren, 
Maxwell, Aaron, Dylan, Devon, Mindy, Micah, Missy, Michaela, Tanner, 
Trayer, Diane, Greg and Hannah; and eleven great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Preceding her in death were 
her parents, her husband, a sister, Verna Bice, a brother, Ralph Mowry, 
and many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Visitation will be at Wilson
 Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, on Tuesday, May 31, from 2:00 P.M. to
 6:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. 
with the Rosary set to begin at 6:00 P.M.&nbsp; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00
 A.M., Wednesday, June 1, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 
Minneapolis, with Father Mark Wesely.&nbsp; Internment will be held at

Glennace Mowry Kirn

Kenneth B. Moore was born in Berkeley, California on January 11, 
1941, to Lonzo B and Betty Lou Moore. His 9-year-old brother Don 
welcomed him home.&nbsp; Ken died on May 26, 2022, at the age of 81years. He 
is preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, and first wife 
Nettie.

Ken’s father, Lonzo, died when he was 6 years old but was a guiding 
influence through his life.&nbsp; Lonzo was a teacher for a college in 
Berkeley when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Most of Lonzo's students were 
arrested because they were Japanese. This was the first experience that 
contributed to Ken’s later call to a ministry with disenfranchised 
members of society. His family returned to Oklahoma City where Lonzo 
resumed his former position as an attorney writing laws for the Oklahoma
 Legislature. Lonzo also co-authored newspaper articles advocating 
women’s rights, another experience which contributed to Ken’s call to 
ministry and exposed him to the plight of those in less powerful 
positions.

After his father’s death, Ken and his family moved to Memphis, 
Tennessee.&nbsp; He graduated from college in 1963 and felt called to 
minister to people in need. However, Ken was drafted into the Army in 
1963 and spent 2 years as an aide in the Physical Therapy Clinic at Ft. 
Bragg, NC.&nbsp; Following his years of service, Ken married Nettie Bergman. 
They had twin sons-- Jonathan Mark and David Matthew. Ken then completed
 his first master's degree in Old Testament.&nbsp; Following completion of 
seminary, Ken was called into the ministry of law enforcement. As a law 
enforcement officer, Ken served 20 years as patrol officer, 
investigator, undersheriff, sheriff, and chief of police. Additionally, 
Ken served 17 years as a Special Agent in the Army Reserve Criminal 
Investigation Command (CID). As appointed Sheriff of Dickinson County, 
Ken hired the first female patrol deputy for that department. Ken also 
worked closely with the local domestic violence/sexual assault center 
and with drug/alcohol counselors to establish an emergency hotline for 
Dickinson County.

Ken later moved to Hutchinson and taught criminal justice for 15 
years.&nbsp; Many of his former students work in the criminal justice system,
 especially law enforcement. Ken married Dr. Carol Schrock Miller at 
First Mennonite Church in Hutchinson, KS, and became a stepfather to her
 three children, Kristine, James, and Katharine.

Following retirement from teaching, Ken worked part-time doing 
in-home family therapy with families involved in juvenile court 
through-out southcentral Kansas.&nbsp; He then became Director of Reno County
 Community Corrections where he helped develop a drug court that 
continues to serve the community today. Ken continued his work with 
families as a mediator in Restorative Justice’s family group 
conferencing with juvenile offenders and their victims in Wichita and 
Reno County. He also served as a member of the Kansas Advisory Group to 
the Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority and represented the State of 
Kansas on the federal Juvenile Justice Committee for the U.S. Justice 
Department's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Ken 
returned to law enforcement in 2013 as Cawker City's law enforcement and
 code enforcement officer. He retired from his service in 2018.

Ken is survived by his wife Dr. Carol Moore, his children Jonathan 
(wife Shelly of Abilene, KS and their daughters – Rachael, (husband 
Cody, Salina, KS), Alyssa (husband Richie and daughter Nora, Salina, 
KS), and Katie (Abilene, KS)), and David (wife Staci, Little Rock, AK), 
and stepchildren Kristine (husband Dr. Scott Sullivan, Augusta, KS and 
children Zoe and David), James (wife Regina Miller, Wichita, KS and 
their children Cameron and Camille), and Dr. Katharine Miller (Las 
Vegas, NV).

 </figure>Kenneth B. Moore was born in Berkeley, California on January 11, 
1941, to Lonzo B and Betty Lou Moore. His 9-year-old brother Don 
welcomed him home.&nbsp; Ken died on May 26, 2022, at the age of 81years. He 
is preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, and first wife 
Nettie.Ken’s father, Lonzo, died when he was 6 years old but was a guiding 
influence through his life.&nbsp; Lonzo was a teacher for a college in 
Berkeley when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Most of Lonzo's students were 
arrested because they were Japanese. This was the first experience that 
contributed to Ken’s later call to a ministry with disenfranchised 
members of society. His family returned to Oklahoma City where Lonzo 
resumed his former position as an attorney writing laws for the Oklahoma
 Legislature. Lonzo also co-authored newspaper articles advocating 
women’s rights, another experience which contributed to Ken’s call to 
ministry and exposed him to the plight of those in less powerful 
positions.After his father’s death, Ken and his family moved to Memphis, 
Tennessee.&nbsp; He graduated from college in 1963 and felt called to 
minister to people in need. However, Ken was drafted into the Army in 
1963 and spent 2 years as an aide in the Physical Therapy Clinic at Ft. 
Bragg, NC.&nbsp; Following his years of service, Ken married Nettie Bergman. 
They had twin sons-- Jonathan Mark and David Matthew. Ken then completed
 his first master's degree in Old Testament.&nbsp; Following completion of 
seminary, Ken was called into the ministry of law enforcement. As a law 
enforcement officer, Ken served 20 years as patrol officer, 
investigator, undersheriff, sheriff, and chief of police. Additionally, 
Ken served 17 years as a Special Agent in the Army Reserve Criminal 
Investigation Command (CID). As appointed Sheriff of Dickinson County, 
Ken hired the first female patrol deputy for that department. Ken also 
worked closely with the local domestic violence/sexual assault center 
and with drug/alcohol counselors to establish an emergency hotline for 
Dickinson County.Ken later moved to Hutchinson and taught criminal justice for 15 
years.&nbsp; Many of his former students work in the criminal justice system,
 especially law enforcement. Ken married Dr. Carol Schrock Miller at 
First Mennonite Church in Hutchinson, KS, and became a stepfather to her
 three children, Kristine, James, and Katharine.Following retirement from teaching, Ken worked part-time doing 
in-home family therapy with families involved in juvenile court 
through-out southcentral Kansas.&nbsp; He then became Director of Reno County
 Community Corrections where he helped develop a drug court that 
continues to serve the community today. Ken continued his work with 
families as a mediator in Restorative Justice’s family group 
conferencing with juvenile offenders and their victims in Wichita and 
Reno County. He also served as a member of the Kansas Advisory Group to 
the Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority and represented the State of 
Kansas on the federal Juvenile Justice Committee for the U.S. Justice 
Department's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Ken 
returned to law enforcement in 2013 as Cawker City's law enforcement and
 code enforcement officer. He retired from his service in 2018.Ken is survived by his wife Dr. Carol Moore, his children Jonathan 
(wife Shelly of Abilene, KS and their daughters – Rachael, (husband 
Cody, Salina, KS), Alyssa (husband Richie and daughter Nora, Salina,

Velda Mae Spencer, 88, died Friday, May 27, 2022, at High Plains 
Retirement Village Assisted Living in Lakin, Kansas. She was born 
December 2, 1933, in Pratt County, Kansas, the daughter of Wymer J. 
&amp; Lotus L. (Blair) Cartwright. 
 Velda moved with her family North of Kendall, Kansas when she was a
 young child. She attended Kendall elementary schools and later 
graduated from Syracuse High School in 1951. On July 21, 1951, she 
married Robert Jack Spencer in Syracuse, Kansas. They made their home 
on the family farmstead South of Kendall, where Velda was a loving 
mother, homemaker, and partner with “Farmer Bob.” Velda was a member of
 the Kendall United Methodist Church, the Meno Women’s Group, Syracuse 
Bowling League, and served on the Kendall School Board. She enjoyed 
spending her time bowling, ceramics, China painting, and sewing. 
 Survivors include three children Kathy &amp; husband Dave Sampselle
 of Taneytown, Maryland, Tammy Spencer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 
and Kyle &amp; wife Karla Spencer of Scott City, Kansas; two 
grandchildren Dirk &amp; wife Heather Sampselle and Zachary Spencer; and
 two great grandchildren Macayla and Audrey. 
 Velda is preceded in death by her husband Robert who died on 
December 28, 2018. She is also preceded in death by a son Darwin 
Spencer; three brothers Edward Dean Cartwright, Lowell Cartwright, &amp;
 Ronnie Cartwright; and a sister Ione Harlow. 
 A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Time, on 
Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse, Kansas with

Jeannie Marie Mater, 78, beloved mother, grandmother, and great 
grandmother, died at her home in Hoisington, surrounded by family, on 
May 27, 2022. She was born August 25, 1944, in Ellsworth, Kansas, the 
daughter of Walter “Earl” and Myrtle Nora (Maynard) Thornton.&nbsp; Jeannie 
was a 1962 graduate of Ellsworth High School.

A longtime Hoisington resident she worked as a CNA for Home Health in
 La Crosse, Kansas, and later as a CNA and ward clerk for Clara Barton 
Hospital retiring in October of 2020. Jeannie was involved in 4-H for 
many years with her children. She was an excellent cook and baker and 
was best known for her kolaches, elephant ears and her pepper jelly.

Survivors include; five daughters, Stacey Vincent of Hoisington, 
Dulcy Palnau, Corrie Mater, Audrey (Chad) Kirkman, and Sarah Mater, all 
of Wichita; a sister, Charlotte Brown of Puyallup, Washington; eight 
grandchildren, April (LaShon) VanSyoc of Hoisington, Tristan Palnau of 
Wichita, Brody Nicholas of Osage City, Payton Steiner, Aidan Palnau, 
both of Wichita, Braxton Nicholas of Hoisington, Orvis and Theodore 
Kirkman both of Wichita; and three great grandchildren, Ki, Nora, and 
Ella VanSyoc.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Aaron Nicholas; a sister, Veatress Webb, and a brother, Earl “Junior” Thornton.

Friends may sign the book Monday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., with family to 
greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.&nbsp; There will be no

Jeannie Marie Mater

Frank Rohleder, was born December 17, 1926 at home, near St. Peter Kansas.

He was the second child born to Peter and Anna (Pfeifer) Rohleder. 
Frank served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in the Philippines 
from 1945 to 1946. He returned swearing he would never eat rice again or
 go on a cruise. And he never did either.

He met the love of his life Marcella Marie Norton in Park, Kansas in 
the summer of 1948. Their first date was a blind date to the movies with
 friends. They married on August 30, 1950 at the Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church in Park Kansas. They enjoyed 71+ years of married life.

The happy couple moved to Aurora Colorado in November 1955. Frank 
worked in the Grocery industry for the majority of his career until 
suffering a stroke at the age of 58.

Frank’s passions included, caring for the yard, polka, politics, 
baseball, and cheering for his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Frank loved his family unconditionally and will be missed and 
cherished by all. Frank went to heaven on May 1st, 2022. He is survived 
by his wife, Marcella Rohleder, five children, Marylyn Young, Gary 
Rohleder, Randy Rohleder, Sharon (Terry) Andrews, Lyle (Julie) Rohleder 
and dozens of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great 
grandchildren, his brother Richard Rohleder and sister Ramilda Richmeier
 and their families.

Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, May 31st&nbsp;at 10:30 a.m. at 
the Wakeeney Veteran’s Cemetery followed by a reception from 11 a.m. to 1

Gwendolyn (Gwen) Lee (Phillips) McCartee, 85, of Marionville, 
Missouri, passed away on May 25, 2022. Gwen was born at home in 
WaKeeney, Kansas on August 1st, 1936. She graduated from Utica High School in Utica, Kansas.

Gwen was united in marriage to Verlon E. McCartee on January 9, 
1955.&nbsp; They were married for 28 years.&nbsp; She worked as a cashier for 
Sutherland lumber for a number of years. &nbsp;The most joy in her life was 
her grandkids and her great grandkids.

Gwen is survived by her children, Teresa Lester and husband Gary of 
Bellevue, Nebraska, Troki Brill and husband Michael of Marionville, 
Missouri; sisters Norma Harvey of WaKeeney, Kansas, and Vicki James of 
Denver, Colorado; sister-in-law Beverly McCartee of Pueblo, Colorado; 
grandkids Aaron Lester and wife Shana of Bellevue, Nebraska, Amber Urich
 and husband Aaron of DeSoto, Missouri, Kevin Thompson of Marionville, 
Missouri; great-grandkids, Daniel, Daylon, and Brady Lester, Kelsey,

Rosalee “Rose” Brungardt, 73, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM with a Funeral Mass starting at 10:30 AM Friday, June 3, 2022 at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9405 Mission Road, Leawood, KS.&nbsp; Burial in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in memory of Rose.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rose was born December 13, 1948, in Hays, KS to Joseph and Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt.&nbsp; She was a 1966 graduate from Marion High School and attended classes at Fort Hays State University and Johnson County Community College.&nbsp; She was a computer programmer for Western Auto for over 20 years and later retired from Sprint (Century Link).&nbsp; She was a member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church.&nbsp; Rose enjoyed traveling over the years and was an avid photographer.&nbsp; She photographed her trips and family events and then organized the photographs into beautiful photo albums.&nbsp; She was known for the numerous different varieties of cookies she made and shared with friends and family at Christmas.&nbsp; She enjoyed organizing gatherings and spending time with family and friends.&nbsp; Rose enjoyed breakfast outings with the Western Auto Breakfast Club.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rose was preceded in death by her grandparents Balthasar and Rosa (Frank) Brungardt, and John and Anna (Broekelman) Wellbrock; her parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt; sister Geraldine “Gerri” Enslinger and brother-in-laws Edward “Eddie” Suppes, Francis Wildeman and John Van Quaethem.&nbsp;

 </figure>Rosalee “Rose” Brungardt, 73, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM with a Funeral Mass starting at 10:30 AM Friday, June 3, 2022 at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9405 Mission Road, Leawood, KS.&nbsp; Burial in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in memory of Rose.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rose was born December 13, 1948, in Hays, KS to Joseph and Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt.&nbsp; She was a 1966 graduate from Marion High School and attended classes at Fort Hays State University and Johnson County Community College.&nbsp; She was a computer programmer for Western Auto for over 20 years and later retired from Sprint (Century Link).&nbsp; She was a member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church.&nbsp; Rose enjoyed traveling over the years and was an avid photographer.&nbsp; She photographed her trips and family events and then organized the photographs into beautiful photo albums.&nbsp; She was known for the numerous different varieties of cookies she made and shared with friends and family at Christmas.&nbsp; She enjoyed organizing gatherings and spending time with family and friends.&nbsp; Rose enjoyed breakfast outings with the Western Auto Breakfast Club.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rose was preceded in death by her grandparents Balthasar and Rosa (Frank) Brungardt, and John and Anna (Broekelman) Wellbrock; her parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt; sister Geraldine “Gerri” Enslinger and brother-in-laws Edward “Eddie” Suppes, Francis Wildeman and John Van Quaethem.&nbsp; She is survived by her sisters; Doreen Wildeman, Mae Suppes, Helen Van Quaethem, Mary Brungardt, brother Dale and his wife Thuong Brungardt, brother-in-law; Cornelius “Corny” Enslinger, nieces and nephews; Gloria Rohr and husband Neil, Terry Suppes and wife Marsha, Darrell Enslinger, Rick Suppes, David Suppes and wife Michele, Dennis Enslinger and husband Tom Lore, Troy Wildeman and wife Kim, Dean Enslinger and wife Chelsea, Paul Brungardt, Ronda Van Quaethem and husband Doug Veach, Jennie Brungardt and husband Rodney Rego, Renee Van Quaethem and husband Michael van der Breggen, Tonya Brungardt and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Stanley Wade Smith,79, went home to his heavenly father May 26, 2022.
 Stan was born September 10, 1942 to Wade and Edith (Bennett) Smith at 
the Gleason Hospital in Larned, KS. A lifetime resident of Larned. He 
married his soul mate Judy (Barks) August 7, 1964, they were blessed 
with eight children to raise. Paula Smith-Davis of Larned, Zena Jacobs 
of Nevada, Judy Smith of Larned, Stanelle Smith of Larned, Tyler Smith 
of Colorado, and Ossian Hook of Larned, and grandson Ryan Jacobs of 
Nevada.

He has one brother Charles in California. He was preceded in death by
 his parents, his son-in-law Troy Davis, his beloved Pomeranian Shadow 
and Chihuahua Lucy I. He leaves behind his precious Chihuahuas Lucy II 
and Rosie.

Stan was a member of the Methodist Church, the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, 
Kansas Rifle Association, and the gun clubs in Larned, Kinsley, and 
Ellinwood. He loved the outdoors, watching westerns, he could always 
answer your questions about the Bible or History. He liked to tease and 
always had a comeback for any smart crack. He also had a green thumb and
 grew beautiful flowers.

He worked for Archer Daniels Western Alfalfa at Frizzells, Ward Feed 
Yard, and 25 years at Pawnee County COOP where he retired. He worked 
hard all his life and always gave 110%. He was a very giving and polite 
man. He will be truly missed.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 
Larned Cemetery with Bob Sallee presiding. Visitation will be held from 
1pm to 8pm Monday, May 30th, 2022, at Beckwith Mortuary.

Margie Lee Veselik was born on May 9, 1930, on a farm in Sherman 
County near Kanorado, Kansas to John and Nora Veselik.&nbsp; The youngest of 
seven children, she was the fond “Little Sister.”&nbsp; She graduated from 
Goodland High School in 1948.&nbsp; Margie lived in Kansas; Omaha, Nebraska; 
Alexandria Virginia and Aurora, Colorado.&nbsp;&nbsp; She had a variety of jobs 
including manager of a clothing store, Trainer for a publishing company,
 window dresser for a department store, and a hostess at the prestigious
 Statler hotel, two blocks north of the White House.&nbsp; She worked in 
Payroll for the US Department of Labor, OSHA Division, retiring from 
that position in 1995.&nbsp; In retirement, she enjoyed working part-time at 
the gift shop at historic Mount Vernon.

Margie will be remembered for her love of children and animals and 
for her gregarious nature.&nbsp; Her talent for decorating and creating 
clothing ensembles is renowned.&nbsp; Most important in her life were her 
family and her faith.&nbsp; She had a deep love for Jesus Christ, a devotion 
for the Blessed Mother, and a special connection to the Infant of Prague
 because her ancestors immigrated from Bohemia.&nbsp;&nbsp; She enjoyed being 
involved in her Parish, The Church of the Risen Christ.&nbsp; She volunteered
 at the Book Nook, Parish Food Bank, and was an usher at the 11 a.m. 
Sunday Mass where she delighted in talking with her fellow Parishioners;
 especially the children.

She lived according to a phrase that she loved, “Thy Will be Done.”&nbsp;&nbsp;
 She believed that the Lord was at her side to guide her through every 
situation.&nbsp; As her health failed, it became apparent that she trusted 
God above all things and that her faith in Him gave her great peace.

Margie was a beloved friend, Aunt, Mother, Grandmother, and Great 
Grandmother.&nbsp; She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all 
who loved her.

Surviving family includes a Daughter Kathryn (Paul) Andreasen, 
nephews John Veselik, Ronald (Marjorie) Veselik, nieces Greta (Bruce) 
Lawlor, Gretchen (Glenn) Andrews, grandchildren Benjamin (Margaret) 
Andreasen, Lauren (Michael) Helgerson, Jacob Andreasen, great 
grandchildren August Helgerson, Rosa Helgerson, Alice Helgerson, Joseph 
Helgerson, great nieces Valerie Veselik-Jones, Jennifer (James) Schafer,
 Jessica (Troy) Carstensen, Erin (Keith) Bartlett, Morgan (Christopher) 
Matthews, Heather Andrews, and many great, great grand nieces and

Twila Lou Miller, 78, of McDonald, KS, died Saturday, May 21, 2022. She 
was born on July 22, 1943, to Kenneth and Gladys (Compton) Miller, at 
the family home in Thomas County, KS. She attended school in McDonald, 
KS, until her parents moved to Kanorado, KS, where she continued her 
schooling. After her father Kenneth passed away in 1965, Twila and her 
mother moved back to McDonald, where Twila remained until she moved to 
the Good Samaritan, in Atwood, KS. 
Twila loved children and baby sat for several children through the 
years. She had also worked at Bell and Carlson, Good Samaritan, and the 
Donut Shop, all in Atwood. When her mother moved to the Good Samaritan 
Center, Twila would go to the home and help with hair or work in the 
kitchen. 
Twila accepted the Lord as her savior at the Federated Church, in 
McDonald, in the 1980’s. She attended the Federated Church and helped 
with Awana’s. 
Twila was preceded in death by an older sister, Leanna, at age 3 ½; her 
parents, Kenneth and Gladys; two brothers, Marlyn and Gail and a sister,
 Lila Runge. She leaves behind her sister Kay Winfrey, of Tillamook, OR;
 brother-in-law, Howard Runge; sister-in-law, Kay Miller and 13 nieces 
and nephews and their families. 
A graveside service for Twila will take place at a later date. Memorials

Twila Lou Miller

Vernon “Vern” Eugene&nbsp;Wasinger, 85 retired&nbsp;banker, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2022. Vernon was a loving husband, father,&nbsp;grandfather&nbsp;and uncle. He was born in Hays, KS on August 7, 1936. He attended grade school in Antonino and Hays, KS and was very proud to be a graduate of St. Josephs Military Academy in Hays, KS.&nbsp;

Vernon worked in banking for 50 years and treasured his lifelong friends he made along the way. He worked for Fourth Financial Corporation in Wichita for 30 years and completed his banking career at Bankers Bank of Kansas in consulting and business development.&nbsp;

Vernon had many hobbies. He loved fine art and was an artist and cartoonist himself. He was a gun engraver and fast draw performer. He enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. Vernon loved classic cars and collecting antique radios&nbsp;was his favorite pastime.&nbsp;He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Above all, he enjoyed time with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to tell.&nbsp;

Vernon is preceded in death by his wife,&nbsp;Theresa&nbsp;Wasinger;&nbsp;stepson,&nbsp;Todd Rusk;&nbsp;grandchildren,Jonathan&nbsp;and Emily Boswell;&nbsp;parents,&nbsp;Alex and Henrietta&nbsp;Wasinger;&nbsp;and brother,&nbsp;Ronald&nbsp;Wasinger. He is survived by his children,&nbsp;Jolene (Mike) Boswell of Wichita, Tim (Annette)&nbsp;Wasinger&nbsp;of Andover, Brian (Lisa)&nbsp;Wasinger&nbsp;of Edmond OK, and Pam (Jeff) Black of Tulsa OK;&nbsp;12 grandchildren;&nbsp;5 great-grandchildren;&nbsp;and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Vernon 'Vern' Eugene Wasinger

Great Bend KS and former Wallace County, KS resident Dolores P.&nbsp; Medina, 87, passed away on November 23, 2021, at Azria Health Nursing 
Home in Great Bend, KS.

Dolores was born on December 9, 1933, in Chacon, New Mexico, to 
Roberto and Abelina (Gonzalez) Torrez. She was one of eight children, 
three brothers and four sisters. The family moved to Olney Springs, 
Colorado where Dolores and her siblings attended school and had numerous
 stories about growing up in the Arkansas Valley.

On September 22, 1951, she married Jess Medina and to this union 
five children were born, Rita, Jess, Sara, Norman and Celia. She enjoyed
 being with her children and grandchildren and attending ball games and 
school activities. &nbsp;

Dolores worked at the Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Sharon 
Springs, KS for 17 years starting in 1981, earning her Medication Aide 
Certification in 1986 and continued working until 1998. She retired and 
moved to Great Bend, KS. She enjoyed watching her KU basketball and 
Denver Bronco football games with her little dog Magoo in her arms and 
let everyone know not to call her until the games were over!!

Preceding her in death were her parents, a daughter Celia Jane 
Medina, one son Norman Gary Medina, three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her children Rita (Dennis) Smith of Weskan, KS,
 Jess (Carmen) Medina of San Antonio, TX, formerly of Sublette, KS and 
Sara (Gary) Pletcher of Great Bend, KS. She is also survived by a 
daughter-in-law Cindy Medina of Salina, KS, one brother Cipriano (Mary) 
Torrez of Jacksonville, FL, one sister Gloria (Mark) Kreidler of 
Sunnyvale, CA, eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Craig Allen Helzer, 65, passed away May 24, 2022, at his home in Larned.

He was born January 14, 1957, in Larned, KS, the son of Wiley Dean 
Helzer and Marcialee Lawrence.&nbsp; A longtime area resident, he was a truck
 driver.

He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and the Bob’s 
Bikes group.&nbsp; He enjoyed tinkering with cars, motorcycles, different 
woods and metals, going fishing and glass blowing.

On October 31, 2015, he married Jacqueline Laune Hignett in Larned.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include: mother, Marcialee Lawrence, Lewis; two 
sisters, Sherry (John) Castaneda, Lewis, Janice Perez, Great Bend; two 
aunts, Elsie (David) Helget, Hugoton, Mary Ellen Smith, Belton, TX; two 
cousins, Randy Lawrence, Lewis, Marletta Shelton, Larned; numerous 
other, aunts, uncles, cousins,s nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wiley Helzer; beloved uncle, Marvin “Bud” Lawrence and a nephew, Aaron Boese.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service for family and 
friends will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the First 
Southern Baptist Church, Larned.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in the Wayne 
Cemetery, Lewis at a later date.

Karen&nbsp;(O’Brien)&nbsp;Weber, 81, White Bear Lake, Minn., died Tuesday, May 17, 2022. She was born on Oct. 28, 1940, to Peter and Leta O’Brien and grew up on the family farm near St. Francis, Kan.

She lived most of her adult life in Minnesota and worked as a substitute teacher while raising her family with her husband, Duane Weber. She was actively involved with Girl Scouts and St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; and two brothers, Glen&nbsp;O’Brien&nbsp;and Dean O’Brien.

She is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Blair, Karna Gruber, and Sharna Weber; a son, Ray Weber; two brothers, Neal (Julie) O’Brien, Scott City, and Rex (Diane) O’Brien, Hays; and six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Mary of the Lake Church later this&nbsp;summer;&nbsp;burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn.

Karen (O’Brien) Weber

Carolyn Julia (Eller) Harvey passed away peacefully at the Bethesda 
Home in Goessel, Kansas on May 20, 2022, at the age of 82. She was born 
November 13, 1939, to George LeRoy Eller and Hazel Irene (Proctor) Eller 
on a farm in Smith County, Kansas. She was the youngest of five 
children.

Carolyn attended school in Gaylord, Kansas and graduated from high
 school in 1957. Soon after graduation, she moved to Denver, Colorado to
 work as a clerk in a downtown Denver business.

While working in Denver, Carolyn met Loren Harvey while Loren and 
her brother, Paul Eller, were in training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri.
 On June 14, 1959, they were married at the First Nazarene Church in 
Gaylord. The young couple established their home in Beloit, Kansas.

Carolyn and Loren were blessed with two sons, Leroy and Eric. 
Carolyn was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her 
family in this manner during the early years of her sons’ lives.

In 1970, she was the Lead Census taker for Mitchell County, 
Kansas. After completing her tenure in this role, she provided daycare 
for other families in the family home. In 1980, she began as a 
substitute food service worker for USD 273 in Beloit, and was soon a 
full-time food service worker at Beloit Elementary School.

Carolyn loved reading, sewing clothes for her sons, cross 
stitching, canning vegetable from the family garden, making baby 
blankets for friends and family, doing puzzles, playing cards, and 
attending activities for Leroy and Eric. During her retirement, Carolyn 
enjoyed camping with friends, volunteering at the church, Mitchell 
County Hospital, and on the Mitchell County election board, and of 
course, attending the activities of her grandchildren as often as 
possible. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in 
Beloit, the United Methodist Women, and the Order of the Eastern Star in
 Beloit and later in Clay Center.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Loren; son Leroy and wife 
Winsome of McPherson, Kansas; three grandchildren, Gavin, Collin, and 
Isabella; two sisters-in-law, Betty Eller and Elaine Eller; as well as 
many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces 
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bernice 
and Blache; brothers, Richard and Paul; and her son, Eric.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, May 26, at the Beloit 
First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM, with 
family beginning at 4 PM on Wednesday at the Roberts Family Funeral 
Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Church, Solomon 
Valley Hospice of Beloit, Nicol Home of Glasco, Good Shepherd Hospice of
 Newton, or the Bethesda Home of Goessel.

Carolyn Julia (Eller) Harvey

Patricia Briggs, 70, died on Monday, May 23, 2022, at St Catherine 
Hospital in Garden City. She was born on August 17, 1951, at Garden City
 the daughter of Peter William &amp; Rose Mary (Brungardt) Burgardt. 
She married Steven W. Briggs on February 1, 1975, at Garden City. 
Patricia graduated from Garden City High School and entered the Convent 
in Great Bend for a short time. She received her Bachelors of Arts from
 Fort Hays State University and later a degree in Theology through 
Newman University. She moved back to Garden City and went to work at 
the Dillons Bakery. Later working at Garst Seed Company and then became
 the Secretary at Sellers Tractor Company. 
Patricia was a member of St Mary Catholic Church where she was active in
 the Daughters of Isabella and helped on funeral dinners for many years.
 She also was part of the International Festival and a 4-H Leader. She
 enjoyed arts, crafts, crossword puzzles and traveling with her family. 
 She had obtained her CDL license so she could drive the truck with her 
husband. Her biggest joy was being part of her Grandchildren’s lives 
and being part of their activities. 
She is survived by her Husband- Steven Briggs, 2 Daughters- Colette Hunt
 of Wichita (Ryan) and Christy Briggs of Scott City (Jason Majors), 
Brother- Michael Burgardt of Tacoma, Washington, Sister- Coleen Harrison
 of Logan, Utah and 4 Grandchildren, Laren &amp; Madelynn Hunt and

Jana Jacobs, 66 years, of Holdrege, NE passed away peacefully at home on May 13th, 2022 after a battle with renal failure.

Jana was born July 30th, 1955, to Dale and Lotte (Horn) Balthazor in Beloit, KS.

The family moved to Phillipsburg in 1959.&nbsp; Jana completed school in 
Phillipsburg.&nbsp; While in high school she worked at the Birdhouse and 
shortly after graduation she began her career at Phillips County Road 
and Bridge Department where she worked for over 30 years as a heavy 
equipment operator.

In 1976, she was united in marriage to Kenny Guthrie.&nbsp; And through 
this union Kenny adopted Jana’s son Jasen.&nbsp; The couple made their home 
in Phillipsburg and in 1980 Alicia was born.&nbsp; Kenny preceded them in 
death in April 1998.

She was united in marriage to Roy Jacobs on September 19th,
 1998 in Phillipsburg.&nbsp; The couple enjoyed gardening, yardwork, riding 
their bikes, fishing, spending time with their grandchildren, and time 
together.&nbsp; Roy was always willing to go along with whatever Jana threw 
his way, even renovating three houses.

Jana’s most precious gift was her grandchildren.&nbsp; She loved every 
moment she got with them.&nbsp; Which led her to Palmer, NE, while living 
there she worked as a Med Aide at the Veterans Home in Grand Island.

In 2012, she moved to Orleans, NE to be closer to family and you 
guessed it, her daughter and grandkids lived across the street.&nbsp; In 2016
 her grandkids moved to Holdrege and you can guess where she moved in 
2017, yep right down the street from her “babies” as she called them.

Survivors include her husband Roy of Phillipsburg; Son Jasen Guthrie 
and wife Tanya of Phillipsburg; her daughter Alicia Norton and husband 
Jeremy of Holdrege, NE; Father Dale Balthazor of Topeka, KS; brother 
Brad Balthazoer of Topeka; 4 grandchildren Taylor, Olivia, Kennedie, and
 Jakob of Holdrege; and 2 great grandsons Paxton and Ryftin of Holdrege.

She was preceded in death by her mother Anna Lotte Balthazoer and her brother Gary Horn.

Cremation was planned. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Eric Randall Huffman, 54, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 8, 
2022. Eric was born June 6, 1967, in Quinter, Kansas to Karen and Galen 
Huffman. Eric came into this world with special needs, but also with 
special gifts to share. 

He was raised by the most amazing parents, 
treasured by his family, lovingly supported by the entire community in 
which he grew up, and tenderly cared for by dedicated staff members who 
selflessly gave their time and energy to bring Eric joy and comfort 
throughout his adult life. He loved Hot Wheels cars, throwing rocks in 
the water, riding his bike, markers and crayons, stickers, puppies, 
music, and anything with a Jayhawk logo on it. He loved attending the 
Quinter Church of the Brethren – the church in which he grew up - with 
Mom and Dad. He attended Beamgard Learning Center in Atwood, KS until 
the age of 20, then moved into a group home in Hays, KS, where he lived 
and was cared for by Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas until 
2019. He then lived in Wichita, KS in a Starkey group home until his 
death. 
 Eric is survived by sister Jana Pote (David) of Wichita, brother 
Scott Huffman (Carolyn) of Lawrence, sister Penelope Callantine of 
Wichita, and brother Jeff Huffman (Shawna) of Lawrence, as well as many 
beloved nieces and nephews. 
 A memorial service will be held Friday, May 27, at 11:00 a.m. at

Eric Randall Huffman

Longtime Sharon Springs, KS resident, Marjorie Louise Poe, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 23, 2022, at the Greeley County Long-term Care Center.

Marjorie was born on February 6, 1931, in Fort Morgan, CO to Samuel J. and Christina Wacker. &nbsp;On January 1, 1950, she married the love of her life, Ernest E. Poe at the First Baptist Church in Fort Morgan, CO.

While in Fort Morgan, Ernest and Marjorie were blessed with 3 children, Ed, Kenneth and Linda.

Ernest, Marjorie and their family moved to Healy, KS in 1958, and then moved to Sharon Springs in 1970. &nbsp;She was active in ABW, both in Scott City and Sharon Springs, and she enjoyed teaching Sunday school at the Baptist Churches.

She spent her days as a homemaker and helping on the ranch and farm, wherever needed. &nbsp;The family enjoyed most holidays at their house where Mom always had too much food for us to eat.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Ernest, one brother Samuel Wacker and two sisters Lillian Longacre and Johanna&nbsp;Windolph.

She is lovingly survived by her sons Edward (Valerie) Poe and Kenneth (Becky) Poe, and her daughter Linda (Greg) See; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters Bernice&nbsp;Turcott&nbsp;and Grace (Lou) Davis; two brothers&nbsp;Wendel&nbsp;(Margaret) Wacker and Edwin (Barbara) Wacker; one<a></a>&nbsp;brother-in-law Ron&nbsp;Windolph&nbsp;and one sister-in-law Tippy Wacker.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 10:30 AM MT at the Sharon Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor Bruce&nbsp;Burfield&nbsp;officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow in the Sharon Springs Cemetery. &nbsp;There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be designated to the Wallace County Ambulance Service and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
