Manuel Rios Jr., age 79, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, at the 
Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on January 7, 
1943, in Laredo, Texas, the son of Manuel Rios Sr. and Hortencia Garcia 
Rios.&nbsp; A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1991 moving from Holcomb, 
Kansas, he was a retired farming mechanic.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas.

On November 30, 1963, he married Virginia Camacho in Stamford, Texas.&nbsp; She passed away on April 7, 2008, in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include his&nbsp; Three Sons - Roy Rios of Scott City, Kansas, 
Andrew Rios of Scott City, Kansas, Alex Rios of Scott City, Kansas, 
Three Daughters - Olivia Enriquez of Scott City, Kansas, Debbie Oronia 
of Scott City, Kansas, Laurie Rios of Scott City, Kansas, One Brother - 
Tony Rios of Garden City, Kansas, Eight Sisters - Juanita Otero of 
Holcomb, Kansas, Ramona Gandarilla of Holcomb, Kansas, Mary Garcia of 
Holcomb, Kansas, Lupe Rios of Garden City, Kansas, Elena Rios of Denver,
 Colorado, Francis Rios of Dodge City, Kansas, Anita Rios Tretto of 
Dodge City, Kansas, Betsy Villanueva of Texas, Fifteen Grandchildren, 
Eleven Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife - Virginia Rios, Two 
Brothers - Pete Rios, and Andrew Rios, and One Sister - Carmen Jurado.

Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, 
at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas with Fr. Don Bedore 
presiding. &nbsp;Funeral services will be live-streamed at

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 10:00

Wilmetta Katie Lee Deutsch, 88, died Monday, May 16, 2022, at Country 
Place Senior Living in Hoisington, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Wilmetta was born December 24,
 1933, in Russell County, the daughter of John J. Mai and Katherina 
Elizabeth (Maier) Mai.&nbsp;&nbsp; She grew up in the Bender Hill area, attended 
Bender Hill Schools and graduated from Russell High School with the 
class of 1952.

Wilmetta married Junior Lee Deutsch April 25, 1954, in rural Russell 
County at Bender Hill Church. They recently celebrated 68 years of 
marriage.&nbsp; From this union they were blessed with two children, Johnny 
Deutsch and Kimberly (Deutsch) Emert.

Wilmetta lived all her life in the Hoisington area.&nbsp; She was a 
homemaker and worked at the Hoisington Hospital and for Dr. Robert 
Moore, MD and for Cardinal Pharmacy.&nbsp;

Wilmetta was a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church and the 
Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and church choir.&nbsp;&nbsp; She especially 
enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her husband 
camping on fishing trips and attending family golf outings and 
tournaments.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was very fond of her grandchildren and 
great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She enjoyed spending time at gatherings with many 
friends and relatives and traveling to Topeka and Kansas City.&nbsp;&nbsp; She 
enjoyed time at KSU events especially attending football games and 
tailgates with friends and family.

Wilmetta was preceded in death by husband Junior, her parents, one 
sister Viola Bender, five brothers, Leo Mai, Walter Mai, Clarence Mai, 
Earlin Mai and Howard Mai.

Survivors include a son, Johnny Deutsch (Carma) of Topeka,KS,&nbsp; 
daughter, Kimberly (Deutsch) Emert (John) of Mission, KS;&nbsp; Four 
grandchildren; Sara (Deutsch) Jones (Chris); Ryan Deutsch (Holly); Frank
 Emert (Anne); Molly Ellen (Emert) Campbell (Michael); Six 
great-grandchildren; Camden and Julia Jones of Bartlesville, OK;&nbsp;

Bonny Louise (Jensen) Walt, Quinter, Kansas, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the age of seventy, at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter, after a long, courageous battle with colon cancer.&nbsp;

She was born on November 6, 1951, in Goodland, KS, the daughter of Ruth “Betty” (Notz) Jensen and Peter A Jensen.&nbsp;

Bonny attended Kanorado High School, graduating in 1969. She had many different interests throughout the years and completed several different educational programs. Mostly, she was interested in healthcare. She completed a Certified Nurses Aid course and worked for many years as a CNA&nbsp;at Gove County Medical Center. She worked for three years as a Para Educator for a special needs student at Quinter High School. She enjoyed her time there and then returned to GCMC where she continued to work as a CNA and also as a Healthcare Unit Coordinator (HUC). She also completed her Emergency Medical Technician&nbsp;training and joined the Quinter EMS team.&nbsp;In all, she served at GCMC for twenty-nine years.&nbsp;She loved caring for people and never wanted to miss a day of work. She had a knack for comforting patients and her sense of humor was contagious. Everyone in her presence felt loved and valued.&nbsp;

On February 1, 1969, she married Delbert J Walt. They raised four children on their farm in rural Graham County.&nbsp;It was on this farm she learned to milk cows, raise calves and work in the fields. &nbsp;She loved farm life. &nbsp;They later divorced and she moved to Quinter. She loved&nbsp;decorating her home and working in her yard. Bonny was a fantastic cook and took great joy in feeding everyone she knew. She could whip up a meal in record time. She also loved crafting and building/fixing things. She always had any craft supply needed&nbsp;and could fix anything!

Bonny treasured her family. Her children and grandchildren were her world.&nbsp;She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and looked forward to every school or church program, graduation&nbsp;or&nbsp;wedding.

Preceding her in death were her parents,&nbsp;brother Luther F Jensen&nbsp;and sister-in-law Kay Jensen;and brother-in-law Richard (Dick)&nbsp;Stramel.

Surviving family includes&nbsp;her&nbsp;son Bradley Walt,&nbsp;his wife Tina (Kinderknecht)&nbsp;and their children Carson and Brecken, of WaKeeney; daughter Kerri Lacy, her husband Brian of Hays and their children, Kelsey Berg and husband Kevin (Kansas City), and Bailey&nbsp;(Joplin, MO); daughter Kimberly Broeckelman, her husband Kevin and their children Kamron and Korey&nbsp;of Quinter; son Troy Walt and his children Thayn, Evan, Ivy and Parker&nbsp;of Morland; companion, Carl Kaiser of Quinter, his children Clayton and Anna Kaiser and children Matthew, Anthony, Faustina, Mary, Henry, William and Jacob of Wichita; Lauren and Levi Younkin and children, Hadlie, Harloe, Jack and Rogan of Oakley.&nbsp;Also surviving is her sister, Ruth Stramel of Stratton, CO; brother Pete and wife Kay of St. Francis; sister Judi of Wichita; many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Friends and family may share their respects with visitation on Wednesday, May 18, 5 -7 PM at Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter.&nbsp;

Robert N. Wagner, age 89 years, of La Crosse, Kansas, passed away on 
Saturday morning, May 7, 2022, at Locust Grove Village Care Center in La 
Crosse.&nbsp; Robert was born on July 7, 1932, at La Crosse, Kansas, to Adam 
and Dorothy (Seuser) Wagner. He served in the U.S. Army for two years.&nbsp; 
Robert was an educator and taught at Barton County Community College in 
Great Bend, Kansas, for many years where he developed the Auto Mechanics 
Program.&nbsp; He enjoyed his farm property, was devoted to his faith and 
loved to be outdoors.&nbsp; Additional hobbies he enjoyed were photography, 
reading, woodworking, and building model boats and planes.

Survivors include his daughter Tammy (Brett) Carlson; one grandson, 
Preston Carlson and his son, Mark (Connie) Wagner; his niece Jan 
Deighton and nephew Dirk Deighton.&nbsp; Robert was preceded in death by his 
parents, his sister Faith and nephew Jeffrey.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 20, 
2022, at Lone Star Cemetery near Bison, Kansas with Pastor Mark Sizemore
 officiating. &nbsp;According to Robert’s wishes, there will be no public

Robert N. Wagner

Larry Leroy Gibson, 69, died May 4, 2022, at his home in Broken Arrow, 
OK. He was born September 24, 1952, in Oakley, KS, to Duane and Betty 
(Walz) Gibson, of Monument, KS. Larry was the third of five children. He
 attended Monument Consolidated School until he graduated from the 8th 
grade. Betty passed away in 1965 and Duane in 1968. Larry and his 
brother Ferman were lucky enough to have the Wilson Fink family take 
them in. Lee Fink and Larry were just like brothers. Later, they moved 
to the DeWitt Beougher farm. In 1966, Monument school unified with the 
Oakley schools creating USD #274 and Larry graduated in 1970, from 
Oakley High School. During high school he worked for area farmers and 
worked with his dad farming. From a young age he loved fast cars and 
motorcycles. At the age of 12, he would ride his motorcycle to Winona, 
from Monument, on the dirt roads, but he had to wait until his dad went 
to the field, because he sure did not have permission. When he wasn’t 
riding his bike or motorcycle, he was eating his mom’s chocolate chip 
cookies out of the deep freeze with the Schoenfeld and Moore boys. After
 graduation, Larry went to work for Eberle Construction and then he 
applied at the feedlot. He talked to Dick Kvasnicka about the job and 
Dick said, “I don’t think I know you.” Larry replied, “Yes you do, you 
wrote my dad and I enough tickets to fill a glovebox.” And he got the 
job. 
Larry and LaRae Engel got married in April of 1976 and had one sone, 
Clinton. After a few years, Larry started working in the Oil Fields. 
Larry loved to see the country. He spent many happy hours fishing in the
 Durango area and other places with Clint, when he was small. Larry, 
LaRae and Clint traveled all over the western United States and he loved
 the many rides to Sturgis, SD and other places with his friends. Larry 
and his sister Janet were able to take several trips together around the
 US. When you went with Larry, you had to be fast, because you saw the 
country at 80 mph. Although he and LaRae didn’t stay married, Larry 
remained an integral part of her and Clint’s lives. Larry was a 
cherished member of LaRae’s own family and was always welcome around the
 Engel’s table. His passing leaves an empty spot in their hearts. Larry 
always said that LaRae was his best friend. 
No one loved a joke or a good prank more than Larry. Many people over 
the years were the target of his good humor. Larry’s laughter was 
contagious and the faces of his friends and family would light up when 
he came into a room. Pitch games won’t be the same without him. 
In 1993, Larry moved to the Tulsa, OK area. There he started Gibson 
Trucking, bought a couple of dump trucks, and went to work. He had just 
retired in the last few years. Even as he grew older, his passion for 
fast cars and motorcycles was still there. He shared that love with his 
grandson, Logan. He was everyone’s favorite uncle, and he loved his 
nieces and nephews. Larry loved coyote hunting with his nephew Tate and 
his boys anytime he was in Oakley. He was a great mentor/uncle to a lot 
of kids in Oklahoma also. He was always someone you could count on. He 
would be there when you needed him. 
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Betty (1965) and Duane 
(1968); brother Ernest Lee (1951); sister Amy Lorraine (1957); 
brother-in-law Butch Collins (2014) and many aunts, uncles and cousins. 
He is survived by his best friend, LaRae (Marvin) Flanary; son, Clint 
(Amy) Gibson; grandchildren, Logan (Rachel West) Gibson and Randi 
Gibson; brother Ferman and his daughter Amanda; sister Janet Collins and
 her children, Jodi (Curtis Hansen), Jacque (Brad) Willems, Traci (Ron) 
Hazelton and Tate Collins; many great nieces and nephews and too many 
friends to list. 
Larry was a friend to all and will be missed by many. 
A memorial service will take place at Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 10:00 
a.m. at the United Christian Church, 219 Center Ave, Oakley, KS with

 </figure>Larry Leroy Gibson, 69, died May 4, 2022, at his home in Broken Arrow, 
OK. He was born September 24, 1952, in Oakley, KS, to Duane and Betty 
(Walz) Gibson, of Monument, KS. Larry was the third of five children. He
 attended Monument Consolidated School until he graduated from the 8th 
grade. Betty passed away in 1965 and Duane in 1968. Larry and his 
brother Ferman were lucky enough to have the Wilson Fink family take 
them in. Lee Fink and Larry were just like brothers. Later, they moved 
to the DeWitt Beougher farm. In 1966, Monument school unified with the 
Oakley schools creating USD #274 and Larry graduated in 1970, from 
Oakley High School. During high school he worked for area farmers and 
worked with his dad farming. From a young age he loved fast cars and 
motorcycles. At the age of 12, he would ride his motorcycle to Winona, 
from Monument, on the dirt roads, but he had to wait until his dad went 
to the field, because he sure did not have permission. When he wasn’t 
riding his bike or motorcycle, he was eating his mom’s chocolate chip 
cookies out of the deep freeze with the Schoenfeld and Moore boys. After
 graduation, Larry went to work for Eberle Construction and then he 
applied at the feedlot. He talked to Dick Kvasnicka about the job and

Juanita Audrey Hinnen “Bloom” Whelan, 93, longtime resident of Goodland, KS&nbsp;passed away peacefully and Goodland Regional Medical Center on May 11,&nbsp;2022,&nbsp;with family at her bedside.

She was the daughter of Fred Hinnen and Greta Sorrell. Juanita graduated from Clifton High School Class of 1946 in Clifton, KS,<a></a>&nbsp;and enjoyed attending the yearly class reunions until 3 years ago.

On July 12,&nbsp;1946,&nbsp;she married D. Lyle Bloom in Morganville, KS. The couple had 4 children Sondra, Tadd, Jody and Ty.

When her children were growing up, she and Lyle were very active with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Eastern Star, and Shriners. Her greatest joy was attending family activities that involved her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of Eastern Star and in 2005 she received her&nbsp;50-year&nbsp;pin.

Juanita worked as a bookkeeper all her adult life in Clay Center, KS,&nbsp;Scott City, KS, and Goodland, KS. In 1976 the couple moved to Goodland where they owned and operated B’s Pump and Well,&nbsp;and then&nbsp;in 1979 she and Lyle were co-owners&nbsp;of B-E’s Jewelry in Goodland for 25 years.

Juanita is survived by her children Tadd Bloom, Jody Engel, and Ty Bloom. Grandchildren Candas &amp; Cole Freeman, Lauren Bloom, Audrey Engel &amp; Bob, Ashley Cartmill &amp; James, Mark Engel &amp; Angela, Shelly Morris, Christopher Bloom &amp; Debi, Jennifer Sellers &amp; Danny, Lance Bloom &amp; Brittney, Zachary Bloom &amp; Crystal, Great grandchildren Jaide Freeman, Ronnie Latini, Talon Corke, Teagan Vaughn, Danika&nbsp;Corke, Reese Cartmill, Geoffrey Morris, Jason Morris &amp; Anndee, Jordyn Cole &amp; Trey, Jeremy Engel, Tyke Bloom, Tate Bloom, Tessa Bloom, Everlee Bloom, Elle Bloom, Kamarie Bloom, Kaylee Sellers, Bria Sellers, Isaac Sellers, Jace Sellers, Ian Sellers, Carter Bloom, Sydney Bloom, Tanner Bloom, Clair Bloom, Ethan Bloom, Devin Bloom, Felicity Bloom,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Landon Bloom.&nbsp;She is also survived by brothers&nbsp;Mike &amp;&nbsp;Kathy&nbsp;Hinnen&nbsp;and Robert&nbsp;Hinnen, along with many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 2:00 PM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Pettibone officiating. &nbsp;Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM MT until service time at the funeral home. &nbsp;Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.

Walter "Walt" Keever, 87, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Smith Center Health and Rehab, Smith Center, KS. 
 Walt was born on April 4, 1935, on the family farm in rural Smith 
County, KS, the son of Alfred and Avis (Gilbert) Keever.&nbsp; On October 25,
 1953, he marred Vera Mae Stones in Lebanon, KS.&nbsp; To this union they 
were blessed with three sons, Alan, John and Bryce. Walt was a
 member of the First Christian Church and Lions Club, both of Smith 
Center and was a past board member of High Plains Mental Health. 
 He &nbsp;was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Alan Wayne and 
Bryce Walter Keever, three brothers, Marion, Ora and Alvin Keever, four 
sisters, Arvilla Goebel, Oleta Pixler, Leota Arment and Rosalee 
Gutscher, a grandson Jeremiah Keever and a great-granddaughter Brayline 
Keever. Walt is survived by his wife Vera Keever of Smith 
Center; a son, John (Barbara) Keever of Smith Center; a brother &nbsp;Richard
 (Wanda) &nbsp;Keever of Russell; a sister Iris Rhoades of Plainville;&nbsp; six

Leona Bell

Mark David Peter, age 61, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 
the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. A life long resident of 
Tribune, he was born to Lawerence Arlan and Marjorie Woelk Peter on 
January 6, 1961, in Tribune, Kansas.

Mark was a well loved member of the community. He enjoyed his work 
cooking at the convenience store where he was able to visit with so many
 people. He was the kind of man who didn’t know a stranger, would give 
you the shirt of his back, and the money from his pocket. He was always 
ready to show off his wood working projects. Mark was a former member of
 the volunteer fire department.

Survivors include, one sister, Arla Peter of Tribune, Kansas, two 
brothers, Daniel &amp; Sally Peter of Tribune, Kansas, Lawrence Alan 
&amp; Sherry Peter of Tribune, Kansas, many nieces, nephews, and 
step-children.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Linda Kay Peter and Diana Lynn Ramsey.

Inurnment will be at a later time in the Greeley County cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Greeley County Fire Department in care of Price &amp; Sons Funeral Homes.

Edward Eugene Aaron, age 66, of Goodland passed way Monday, May 2, 2022, at his home in Goodland.&nbsp;

Gene was born August 15, 1955, to L.C. and Rosa (Westmorland) Aaron in
 Lamar, Colorado.&nbsp; He grew up in Lamar and attended school in Bonham, 
Texas, and Goodland, Kansas.&nbsp; He worked as a farm hand and tree trimmer, 
he also spent time gardening and growing food for the Farmers Market.&nbsp; 
Gene was a kind compassionate person, always ready to lend a hand where 
needed.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, camping with his brothers and spending time
 with his nieces and nephews at the park, swimming pool and stores.&nbsp; He 
knew and loved the Lord and prayed for others suffering.&nbsp; His favorite 
saying was “I hope I’ve made a difference in the life of a child.”&nbsp;

Gene is preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Carol, Mary Alice and
 Lay Lynn; brothers, Larry Charles, Robert Donald and David Lee.&nbsp; &nbsp;

He is survived by his sisters, Janet Swartz of Goodland, KS, Julia 
(Bill) Mohrman of Hobart, NE, Lydia (Billy) Reed of Winnie, TX and Bicky

Annette Kay (Schultz) Lantz, age 59, passed away at her home on May 10, 
2022. She was born the daughter of Richard &amp; Nola (Brown) Schultz 
at the Osborne County Memorial Hospital in Osborne, KS on April 13, 
1963. 
 She went to Lucas to school until she was in the 6th, 7th and 8th 
grade in Luray. She attended High School in Lucas during the time they 
were in the Russell, KS 407 District. She graduated the class of 1982. 
 After graduation she moved to Salina and worked for Tony’s Pizza 
Service for 34 years. While growing up she had the love of her dog and 
loved to ride horses. When her dad wanted to move cattle, he always 
came and got Annette to help him. 
 She met the love of her life Jerry Lantz and they got married 
February 25, 1983, in Salina, KS. They resided in Salina for 5 years 
until they moved outside of Salina where they had lived for 31 years. 
Jerry and Annette recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. 
Jerry &amp; Annette spent their time together travelling, enjoying their
 houseboat, fishing and just spending time together with their pets.
 She was preceded in death by her brother Larry Schultz; her

George Paul Korobka, age 74, of Hays, 
Kansas, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, the result of an automobile 
accident in rural Phillips County, Kansas. He was born January 1, 1948, 
in Regensburg, Germany to Tony and Anna (Metschetnaja) Korobka. George 
was a graduate of Newton High School. On December 24, 1979, he married 
Virginia (Ferguson) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

George and his wife, Virginia, owned 
and operated Reeve’s Fumigation Services in Atwood, Kansas before moving
 to Hays in 1991. He then became the Ellis County Noxious Weed Director.
 George was a US Army Veteran and had received a Purple Heart Medal 
which is earned by a service member who has greatly sacrificed 
themselves, or paid the ultimate price, while in the line of duty.

George was a member of the VFW and 
American Legion. It was no secret that he was simply an outdoorsman. 
George absolutely loved fishing and hunting, as well as his Monday night
 trap shooting at the Hays City Sportsmen's Club.&nbsp; He always saw the 
biggest deer on the property, but his shot was off just enough for it to
 escape.&nbsp; The stories were always amazing &amp; he enjoyed telling 
them.&nbsp; His love for fishing was evident, spending his last day at the 
lake, casting for the big one.

George was a proud grandpa to six 
grandchildren and especially enjoyed his time with “The Little’s” which 
is the youngest three grandchildren.&nbsp; Taking them to the park, playing 
in the yard or watching them at their sports events. George enjoyed a 
good day finding treasures at garage sales, there was always a bargain 
to be found.&nbsp; He was also known to partake in a little gambling, 
particularly in Las Vegas, but could easily be convinced to go gambling 
about anywhere.

George is survived by his wife, 
Virginia of Hays; two sons, Brice Korobka and wife Vicki of rural 
Phillipsburg and Gage Korobka and wife Pri`Trisha of Ellis; a brother, 
Victor Korobka of Newton, Kansas as well as his six grandchildren, 
Kruze, Locke, George, Brooke, Trace and Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Luba and Switlana.

Funeral services will be 11:30 AM 
Friday, May 13, 2022, at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory,&nbsp; 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601. Military Honors courtesy of the Hays VFW Honor

Dawn had worked in Hotel Management. 
She enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, and doing diamond art. She was a

Papa Wade Jackson Morris, 62, died May 12, 2022, at Clara Barton 
Hospital.&nbsp; He was born December 22, 1959, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son
 of Bobby J. and Virginia (Cronic) Morris.

Wade graduated from Greensburg High School in 1978 and then received his Associate Degree from SouthWestern College.

A longtime Barton County resident, Wade was a self employed welder 
working on the pipeline and odd jobs until recently when he started 
teaching his craft to future welders at Barton County Community 
College.&nbsp; He loved to tinker in his shop creating and inventing new 
things, and mentoring and helping anyone in need. Wade enjoyed 
gardening, fishing and crafting his own fishing lures, and would share a
 beer with anyone that bought it. He especially enjoyed lovingly 
tormenting his grandchildren.

On May 3, 1986, he married Diane Suchy at St. Rose Catholic Church in
 Great Bend. She survives along with their four children; Chelsi (Chris)
 Holinde of Great Bend, Shayla (Kody) Cook, Caitlyn (Cory) Meitner, and 
Hunter Morris, all of Hoisington; two brothers, Jeff (Carolyn) Morris 
and Derek (Joyce) Morris, all of Wichita; a step brother, Christopher 
(Lanissa) Hammond of Marion; a step sister, Brenda (Butch) Robertson of 
Colorado; and most importantly his ten beloved grandchildren, Haylee, 
Corbyn, Treyton, and Bayne Holinde, Millie, Marcie, and Albie Wade Cook,
 Tripp, Everleigh, and Lyla Wade Meitner.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby J. Morris, mother, 
Virginia Hammond, step father Stewart Hammond and a sister, Chandra 
Morris.

Esther L. Thul, 93, passed away May 12, 2022, at Ellinwood District 
Hospital. She was born on October 26, 1928, at Hominy, Okla., to Ira 
John &amp; Alta Mae (Parnell) Fosdick. She married Arthur N. Thul on 
July 29, 1944, at Dodge City.&nbsp; He died May 13, 1986.

A longtime Great Bend resident, Esther was a receptionist for Centel 
until she retired. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. 
Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, Bridge 
Club and the Ellinwood Bowling Team.

Survivors include, a sister in law, Geraldine “Gerry” Fosdick of 
Great Bend and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
 parents; her husband, Arthur N. Thul; two sons, Arthur “Johnny” Thul 
and Franklin Thul; an infant daughter, Linda Thul; three brothers and 
their spouses, John Fosdick (June), J.R. Fosdick and Donald Fosdick; 
three sisters and their spouses, Alta Snow (Debbs), Mary Walter (Bud), 
Lorene Johnson (Jabe) and an infant sister, Pauline Fosdick.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May

Betty Lou Ashley, 79, passed away May 10, 2022, at Azria Health Woodhaven in Great Bend.

She was born September 3, 1942, in Yuma, AZ, the daughter of Lester Ervin and Rose Lee Pebsworth Patton.

Moving from Texas and later Great Bend, she was a Larned resident 
since 1964. She was co-owner of Dairy Queen in Larned with her husband 
Ernie and a charter member of the First Southern Baptist Church where 
she was involved in many activities from Sunday school to vacation bible
 school. She was an avid doll collector and member of various doll 
clubs. She enjoyed making ceramics, sewing, painting, crafting, and 
spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids.

On November 10, 1959 she married Ernest A. Ashley at Perryton, TX; he survives.

Other survivors include: son, Duane Ashley, Larned; two daughters, 
Suzan (Jim) Haynes, and Sandi Bartz, both of Larned; seven 
grandchildren, Michael (Jessie) Ashley, Bermerton, WA, Jordan (Sarah) 
Haynes, Bixby, OK, Tyler Ashley, Kansas City, MO, Kaitlyn (Casey) 
Hatfield, Larned, Jeromy Bartz, Lincoln, NE, Brandon Bartz, Hays, Trevor
 Bartz, Larned; seven great grandchildren, Kaira Haynes, Josiah Haynes, 
Judah Haynes, Ariella Haynes, Colby Hatfield, Collins Hatfield, and 
Holden Ashley.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Ernest Lester Ashley;
 son-in-law, Michael Bartz; brother, Jerry Patton; sister, Sue Sharp; 
and a granddaughter, Laura Ashley.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022, at First 
Southern Baptist Church, Larned with Pastor Cecil Dale presiding.

Betty Lou Ashley

Deborah Jolene “Debby” Dreiling, 74, Hays, died Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Hays Good Samaritan Society.

She was born Jan. 31, 1948 in Belleville, the daughter of Henry “Hank” and Betty (Mulch) Trzicky. On Aug. 31, 1990, she was united in marriage to Harry Richard Dreiling in Hays. They celebrated 26 years of marriage before he died on Feb. 18, 2017. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed trips to Casinos, western movies, and spending time on the farm in Munden.

Survivors include her daughter: Melissa Largent of Newport, Tenn., a stepson: Jerome Dreiling of Hays, a stepdaughter: Virginia Basgall and husband Steve of Hays, a stepson-in-law: Bryan Phillips of Hays, one sister: Colleen Strnad and husband Vic of Lawrence, a granddaughter: Megan Largent, four step-grandchildren: MaRyan Hulvey and husband Nathan, Kendrick Basgall and wife Shania, Braden Dreiling and wife Ashley, and Gage Phillips, two great-grandsons: Daniel and Andrew, and four step-great-grandchildren: Airalia, Eleanor, Parker, and Krew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, and stepdaughter JoAnn Phillips.

Inurnment will take place at a later date in Tabor Cemetery, Munden. Memorials may be made payable to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Building Fund or to Hospice of HaysMed, in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine St., Hays, KS 67601.

Deborah Jolene 'Debby' Dreiling

Richard “Rick” Gerard Suchy, 66, passed away May 12, 2022, at the University Of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. He was born on June 11, 1955, in Great Bend, to Albion and Marcelline (Schwartz) Suchy. He married Kay Nelson on Aug. 31, 1974, in Great Bend.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Rick was the owner and operator of Suchy Construction. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #862, NRA, Duneville Campground and Shifters of Central Kansas.

Rick enjoyed hunting, cars, collecting all things auto memorabilia, dune buggies and sand cars. He especially loved spending time with his family and their Fourth of July celebrations.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Suchy of the home; a son, Aaron Suchy and Tierney Mermis and a daughter, Nikki Munsch and husband Rick, and a son-in-law, Gary Bainbridge all of Great Bend; five grandchildren, Braxton Love, Darin Munsch, Brodie Bainbridge, Hayley Suchy and Caylon Munsch; a brother, Randy Suchy and wife Cristy of Great Bend; five sisters, Diane Morris and husband Wade of Hoisington, Debra Langer and husband Bob of Great Bend, Brenda Ohnmacht and husband Steve of Great Bend, Arlene Manning and husband Greg of Ellinwood and Coleen "Coke" Suchy of Bushton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Kimberly Suchy Bainbridge.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Vigil service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be&nbsp; at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Memorials have been designated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
