Velda Irene Skolaut, of WaKeeney, KS, passed away on November 13, 
2022, at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, at the 
age of 73. 

She was born on November 30, 1948, to Russell and Ester 
“Arlene” (Hillman) Grecian in Hays, KS. She was married to Roger Sells 
on May 27, 1968. They were blessed with three children: Roger Jr “Bub”, 
Mindie, and Lee. They later divorced.

Velda grew up in 
WaKeeney and graduated from Trego County High School in 1966. She then 
went on to cosmetology school and was a beautician for many years. Velda
 loved her family and all her grandkids, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed
 road trips, especially her kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events. In her
 earlier years she enjoyed dancing, gambling, yard sales, partying, 
Bingo, and taking care of the neighborhood.

Velda loved
 people and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her strong spirit and open 
heart made all who knew her feel loved and cared for. Always putting the
 needs of her family, friends, and neighbors ahead of her own, she was a
 woman with a heart of gold who lived a life of simplicity, grace, and 
beauty. May we be comforted in remembering her life in its totality, and
 that as she enters eternal glory, the old things will pass, and all 
things will be made new.

Velda is survived by her 
children: Roger Sells, Jr “Bub” (Tana) of Russell, KS, Mindie Killmayer 
(Tom) of Brunswick, MD, and Lee Sells (Tina) of WaKeeney; sisters: Linda
 Swatzell (Victor) of Phillipsburg, KS, Charlotte Goff (Fred) of 
WaKeeney, and Shirley Grecian (Susan) of Hays; sister-in-law, Shelley 
Grecian; 10 grandchildren: Chelsea Eickhoff (Kenneth), Nicholas Sells, 
Phillip Killmayer (Ashley), Morgan Warfield (Travis), Alex Killmayer, 
Gillian Killmayer, Reed Killmayer, Teghan Groff (Brandon), Taylor 
Schoenthaler (Corbin), and Tanner Sells; and 5 great-grandchildren: 
Norah Warfield, Mason Killmayer, Karson Eickhoff, Ryker Eickhoff, and Ty
 Schoenthaler.

Velda is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Arlene Grecian; and brother, Richard Grecian.

A
 Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 11:00 AM 
at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in WaKeeney, KS. There will be no 
public visitation.

Sharyn Colene (Lambert) Kilian, 61, of Russell, Kansas, died on 
Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, 
Kansas.

Sharyn was born on September 29, 1961, in Plainville,
 Kansas, the daughter of Elwyn James and Wilda Madeline (Hand) Lambert.&nbsp;
 She grew up in Stockton, Kansas, and graduated from Stockton High 
School in 1979.&nbsp; In her teenage years Sharyn worked in her mother’s café
 as a waitress &amp; short order cook. After graduation she attended the
 Hays Academy of Hair Design in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was a beautician for 
over 30 years, during this time she also worked as a bartender for the 
Stockton VFW Post #8873.&nbsp; Through a mutual friend she met, fell in love 
and was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” Dennis Kilian on October 
25, 2008, in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Sharyn then worked as a canteen manager 
at the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 for several years and currently worked 
as head cook at the Russell Senior Center.&nbsp; She enjoyed cooking, 
gambling at casinos with Tony and friends, flowers, dancing, watching 
soap operas, Kansas University sports, Kansas City Chiefs football and 
betting at horse racing.&nbsp; Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her
 family and many friends.&nbsp; She will be fondly remembered for her dry 
wit, cooking skills and especially her deviled eggs.

Surviving family include her husband Tony of the home, twin sister 
Karyn Arnold (Mike Murphy) of Osborne, Kansas, sisters Linda Krysl of 
Bella Vista, Arkansas &amp; Diana Harris (Bill) of Pratt, Kansas; nieces
 and nephews Tammy, Tori, Stephanie, Courtney, Haley and Heath; great 
nieces and nephews Ross, Justin, Nicole, Layton, Madeline, Jayce and 
Colt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Eagon &amp; brother in-law Mark Krysl.

Sharyn was a very giving person and was deeply loved by her husband, family and friends.

A memorial celebration of Sharyn’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on
 Friday, November 18, 2022, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of 
Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. on Thursday, 
November 17, 2022, at the mortuary with family greeting guests from 6 
P.M. to 7 P.M. Thursday evening.&nbsp;

Martha Marie Leonhardt passed away in Sacramento, California, on November 7, 2022.&nbsp; She was 98 years old. She was born in Hays, Kansas, on February 8, 1924, and was one of ten children born to Peter and Rosa Spies.&nbsp; Martha grew up and attended school in Hays and had many happy memories from that time, especially summer days reading books from the library and swimming in the community pool.&nbsp; Martha and Cletus moved to San Mateo, California and raised their family in that community.&nbsp; After retirement they lived in Orangevale, California, where Martha went to college and became an Executive Housekeeper for Kaiser Hospitals. Martha and her husband returned to Hays in 1999 to spend time with family and childhood friends.&nbsp; In 2007, Martha returned to Sacramento, California, to be nearer to her children. &nbsp; Her survivors include her sons Kenneth Leonhardt (Carole), Robert Leonhardt and David Leonhardt (Tammie) and her daughter Donna Leonhardt. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. &nbsp; Martha was predeceased by her husband Cletus C. Leonhardt whom she married in June of 1942. Martha was also predeceased by her daughters Diana Mangin and Kerin Gale. &nbsp; Martha was guided by her strong and abiding faith throughout her life.&nbsp; She was a devoted and loving mother and her family will always cherish many wonderful memories of her care and devotion. Martha Marie Leonhardt

Scharlene Dee Mix, 57, passed away November 13, 2022, at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.

She was born October 16, 1965, in Jetmore, the daughter of Gary and 
Ruby Klein Rebel.&nbsp; Scharlene lived most of her life in Kansas, but had 
moved from Alamosa, CO to Jetmore 5 years ago. She was a homemaker and a
 secretary at the United Methodist Church for a short while and most 
recently was a secretary for Kindsvater Trucking in Dodge City.

She was a member of FCE and The Piecemakers, both of Jetmore.&nbsp; She 
loved to quilt, sew, knit, crochet and enjoyed fishing and camping and 
spending time with her grandchildren.

On September 7, 2013, she married Jimmy Mix in Pagosa Springs, CO.&nbsp; He survives.

Other survivors include: father, Gary (Susan) Rebel, La Crosse; son, 
Adam (Angie) Lopez, Pueblo, CO; two daughters, Sarah Soffel, Alamosa, 
CO, Crystal (Nate) Cornum, La Jara, CO; brother, Jeffery Rebel, 
Colorado; two sisters, Charlotte (VI) Macepuru, Albuquerque, NM, Becky 
Rebel, Denver, CO; fourteen grandchildren, Zachary, Adrianna, Rebecca, 
Xaiver, Bailey, Wyatt, Isabella, Quincy, Heavenly, Jonathan, Delton, 
Vaden, Zayin and Kahlynn.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby and a brother, Gary Rebel.

He was born July 30, 1936, in rural Logan County, KS, to Clifford and 
Eula (Logsden) McGuire. Raymond was a farmer and did custom harvesting. 
In his free time, he enjoyed bowling. Raymond and Carol Ann (Heier) were
 united in marriage on November 28, 1991. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Brenda McGuire; brother Alvin McGuire and a great grandchild. 
Raymond is survived by his wife Carol Ann; sons, Jerry (Teresa) McGuire 
and Kenny (Brenda) McGuire; seven grandchildren; sister Margaret

Mary Jane Lang, 96, Hays, died Saturday, November 12, 2022, at HaysMed.

She was born November 11, 1926, in 
Catharine, the daughter of Albert and Cherubim (Giebler) Staab.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mary 
was a graduate of Girls Catholic High School, and on August 6, 1948, was
 united in marriage to Andrew J. Lang.&nbsp;&nbsp;They celebrated 66 years of 
marriage before he preceded her in death on August 21, 2014.&nbsp;&nbsp;She and 
her husband owned and operated several bars.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mary enjoyed music, 
playing Bingo, and loved her family.

Survivors include four sons: David Lang
 and wife Cindy, Wayne Lang and wife Tammy, Donald Lang and wife Martha,
 all of Hays, and Alan Lang and wife Susan of Wichita, a daughter: 
Dianne Patterson and husband Charles of Ellis, two sisters: Patty Staab 
of Russell and Roseann Seader of Louisville, CO, nine grandchildren, and
 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her 
parents, husband Andrew, four brothers: Elmer,&nbsp;Roland, Irwin, and Marion

Kathleen Jane Beals Crampton passed away during her sleep Saturday, 
November 12, 2022, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, Kansas. 
Kathleen was born January 27, 1942, in Farnam, Nebraska, to Nancy Jane 
Beals and Joseph Ralph Beals. Kathleen lived on her parent’s farm in 
Frontier County, Nebraska, and graduated high school from Cambridge, 
Nebraska. After graduation, she babysat her nephews before becoming a 
farm wife. 
Kathy married Kenneth Lee Crampton August 10, 1961, in Indianola, 
Nebraska. Three children were born to this union: Karmel Carothers, 
Martin Crampton, and Kendra Bernard. Kathy was a farm wife and was an 
excellent seamstress. Ken and Kathy lived and farmed in Frontier County,
 Nebraska until January 1972 when they moved to their farm in Levant, 
Kansas. In 1995 Ken and Kathy moved to their ranch, C Lazy V located in 
Sylvan Grove, Kansas. They spent their retirement years in Colby and 
Salome, Arizona. 
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Joe Beals, and 
son Martin Crampton. She leaves behind her husband, sisters Marilyn 
Kester and Celia Liffrig, two daughters, one daughter-in-law, and seven 
grandchildren. 
Her family will fondly remember her as a joyful and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. 
The visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 6:00 p.m.,

Johnny “Junebug” Cheeks was born June 27, 1958, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Johnny Cheeks Sr. and Virginia Lee (Robinson) Cheeks.

Johnny attended Larned High School and graduated in 1976. After graduating, he went on to serve in the United States Army. &nbsp;After discharge from the military, he found his home in Hutchinson with his family in 1976.&nbsp; He worked as a forklift operator for Midwest Iron and Metal for many years.&nbsp; Johnny was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where he participated in the church choir and as an usher. &nbsp;Serving the Lord was one of Johnny’s greatest joys and we all find peace in knowing that he is right where he wants to be.

Johnny was preceded in death by his grandparents, Winifred and Beulah Robinson, as well as many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Survivors include his daughter, Jonica Banks (Chris) of Clearwater, Florida; granddaughter, Aminah Banks who he was the greatest papa to; his mother, Virginia Cheeks of Hutchinson; sister, Jonnie Brown (Donnie) of Seattle, Washington; brother, Jerry Cheeks of Hutchinson; and longtime friend, Nece Killebrew.

A Celebration of Johnny’s Life will take place on Wednesday, November 16 at 10:00 A.M., Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1015 E. 7th&nbsp;Ave, with Reverend William J. Maxine Joyce Peter, 89, of Ellinwood passed away on November 4, 2022, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas.

Mom
 was born in Ellinwood, Kansas on March 28, 1933, to Arden and Darlene 
Crossley.&nbsp; She attended Ellinwood Grade School and Ellinwood High School
 graduating in 1951.&nbsp; She met her future husband (our father), Duane 
Peter, in high school.&nbsp; It wasn’t until after high school that they 
began to date, and he became the love of her life.&nbsp; She graduated with a
 diploma in business from the Adela Hale School in Hutchinson in 1952. 
Later, she graduated from Barton County Community College with an 
associate degree in business.&nbsp; 

Education was always important to mom, 
and she encouraged that to us.&nbsp; She stressed education all throughout 
our lives, so we considered it a given that we follow her marching 
orders. Of the four of us, there are six bachelor’s degrees, and two 
master’s degrees.&nbsp; We have a clinical laboratory scientist, two music 
educators, and a CPA.

We grew up in a typical household back in 
the late 50s through the 80s.&nbsp; We knew our parents loved us very much. 
They wanted us to be happy and grow up to be good people and good 
citizens.&nbsp; We were nestled living close to lots of cousins, aunts and 
uncles, and grandparents. We loved growing up in Ellinwood and that was 
the world to us.

Throughout mom’s life, she held several jobs. Mom
 went to work for the electrical cooperative in Great Bend after 
graduation from school and continued to work there until her second 
child, Nancy, was born in 1960.&nbsp; Later in life, mom did secretarial work
 for Thompson Construction and Barton County Community College.&nbsp; She 
also enjoyed selling Avon and Mary Kay for many years.&nbsp; Her most 
important job though, was raising her four children.&nbsp; Dad was often in 
Tribune farming while Maxine had to hold down the fort in Ellinwood. Her
 children were her life.&nbsp; She attended everything they were in.&nbsp; She was
 always incredibly supportive of us, even when we got older, and then 
her grandchildren.&nbsp; She drove all over the state to watch her children 
perform, Lori and Nancy’s students’ performances, or watching Don and 
Craig run-in races. She even often participated in the races by running 
herself.&nbsp; While her body allowed it, she continued driving across the 
state for her grandchildren’s birthdays and other activities. When her 
life crippling disease slowed her down, she was only a block from where 
two of her grandchildren in Lindsborg attended school, so she was still 
able to catch their concerts and tennis matches.&nbsp;

While we were 
younger, she volunteered to help with Sunday school, Brownies, Cub 
Scouts, and Girl Scouts.&nbsp; Mom loved to stay active in every way.&nbsp; She 
was an exercise enthusiast; and was often spotted walking or jogging in 
the community. She and Dad enjoyed playing in Bridge Club together, but 
she was also very involved in her women’s Bridge Club, Tri-Circle, Unit,
 and the Red Hat Club.&nbsp; She was a founding member of the Wheat Bowl, 
served on the Kansas Tourism Committee, was a former President of the 
Ellinwood Chamber of Commerce, and past Grand Marshal of the After 
Harvest Festival Parade.&nbsp; She traveled the state promoting Ellinwood and
 the surrounding area at festivals, including the Kansas State Fair.&nbsp; 
She was involved with Ellinwood Area Enterprises and tourism projects, 
such as the Barton County Centennial Parade and the Ellinwood Gateway to
 Cheyenne Bottoms sign on the west side of town.&nbsp; She also served in an 
official capacity with the Barton County Democratic Party. She was 
dedicated to her family and the Ellinwood community.&nbsp;

Mom was 
preceded in death by her parents, Arden and Darlene Crossley; her 
brother, Gaylen Crossley; and her husband, our father, Duane Peter.&nbsp; She
 is survived by her four children; Don Peter (Carol Steele) of Leawood, 
Kansas; Nancy Green of Scott City, Kansas; Craig Peter of Prairie 
Village, Kansas and Lori (Sean) Nelson of Lindsborg, Kansas.&nbsp; She is 
also survived by her five grandchildren: Rachel (Dustin) Cooke, 
Christopher (Brittany) Green, Mattie Peter, and Per and Torsten Nelson.&nbsp;
 She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Ariana and Emerson 
Cooke, and one more on the way with Christopher and Brittany Green.

Cremation
 has taken&nbsp;place and services will be scheduled&nbsp;at a later date.

Maxine Joyce Peter

Julie Ann Cavender, age 66 years, of Great Bend, passed away on Nov. 
10, 2022, at The University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend Campus
 in Great Bend.&nbsp; 

Julie was born on May 22, 1956 at Oahu, Hawaii, to Don 
and Anna May (Smith) Jez.&nbsp; She grew up in Brownsville, Texas, and lived 
the life of a “Navy Brat” living in several places, and moved to Great 
Bend from Woodward, Okla. 44 years ago.&nbsp; Julie did in-home daycare for a
 number of years and was later employed by Dr. Copeland in Great Bend as
 an Eye Therapist.&nbsp; She was an accomplished artist in painting, 
photography, and ceramics, having attended Barton Community College in 
Great Bend in their Fine Arts program.&nbsp; Julie also loved gardening, 
raising houseplants, singing, and especially loved children.

Survivors
 include four daughters: Jennifer (&amp; Jason) Wilson of Lawrence, 
Michelle W. Cavender and Jewel R. Cavender, both of Great Bend, and 
Jessica I. (&amp; Matthew) Peebles of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren:&nbsp;
 Alees Cavender, Isabella Rodriguez, Jazmin Rodriguez, Daizy Gomez, 
Romeo Green, Genevieve Gilbert, Chandler Cavender, Kobi Wilson, Kalib 
Wilson, and Madisyn Peebles; three great-grandchildren:&nbsp; Kyleigh White, 
Sage Wilson, and Kingston Rodriguez, plus another on the way; one 
brother, Sam (&amp; Deanna) Smith of Windom.&nbsp; Julie was preceded in 
death by her parents; a brother Jez Jez, and a sister Jeanine Pettijohn.

According
 to her wishes, cremation has been chosen and a Celebration of Life 
Service will be held at a later date.&nbsp; Memorials may be directed to the

William 'Bill' F. Wilson

Anneliese Roberts, 88, passed away Sunday November 6, 2022, at the 
Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, Nebraska. Anneliese was born 
August 4, 1934, in Ismaning, Germany, to Franz and Anna Trumler. Her 
childhood was spent under the rule of Nazi Germany. During WWII, she 
attended&nbsp;school at Volkschule in Munich-Reim, Germany. She was accepted 
into a cosmetology apprenticeship. She finished her apprenticeship 
within 3 years and received her degree in cosmetology. After graduating,
 she worked as a journeyman cosmetologist until she married her husband 
and moved to the United States. She could not travel to the United 
States until she was approved for immigration into the United States. 
This took about 6 months. She received her naturalization on May 8, 
1952.

Anneliese married the love of her life, John Roberts, on March &nbsp; 17, 
1952, in Munich, Germany, and to this union six children were born. As 
her children grew, Anneliese worked as a cosmetologist in Alma, Nebraska
 and Orleans, Nebraska. She worked in this career for many years until 
her retirement. She enjoyed watching her children’s involvement in 
various sporting activities and school activities. She also enjoyed 
watching her children’s involvement with their horse showings. After 
retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband John to Arizona and 
California. Anneliese enjoyed cooking her many German dishes for her 
family. She could always make the best pot roast, cookies for her 
grandchildren, and various desserts. She also enjoyed gardening. She had
 an unbelievable green thumb which she passed onto many of her children 
and grandchildren. She grew the most beautiful flowers. She was a 
devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed 
fishing with her grandchildren. Family meant everything to her. She was a
 woman of Faith and a devoted Catholic and will be missed by everyone 
who knew her.

She resided at Fort Dodge, Kansas near Dodge City, Kansas with her 
husband John until his passing in July 2020. She cherished her time as a
 volunteer with many U.S. veterans. She enjoyed making crafts with John 
until she lost her eyesight to macular degeneration. She and her husband
 were very involved with the veteran’s poppy program for many years 
while residing at Fort Dodge, Kansas. For the past two years she resided
 in Ogallala, Nebraska with her daughter Sue and her family. She loved 
her pet dachshunds, Schnapps, Heidi, and Rusty.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was blessed with a wealth of family. She and her husband were happily married for 68 years before John was called home.

She is survived by a brother, Franz Trumler and wife Carol of Boelus,
 Nebraska; a brother-in-law, Francis Hofmeyer from California; two sons,
 Johnnie Roberts and wife Vicki of Paradise, Kansas; Donald Roberts and

 </figure>Anneliese Roberts, 88, passed away Sunday November 6, 2022, at the 
Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, Nebraska. Anneliese was born 
August 4, 1934, in Ismaning, Germany, to Franz and Anna Trumler. Her 
childhood was spent under the rule of Nazi Germany. During WWII, she 
attended&nbsp;school at Volkschule in Munich-Reim, Germany. She was accepted 
into a cosmetology apprenticeship. She finished her apprenticeship 
within 3 years and received her degree in cosmetology. After graduating,
 she worked as a journeyman cosmetologist until she married her husband 
and moved to the United States. She could not travel to the United 
States until she was approved for immigration into the United States. 
This took about 6 months. She received her naturalization on May 8, 
1952.Anneliese married the love of her life, John Roberts, on March &nbsp; 17, 
1952, in Munich, Germany, and to this union six children were born. As 
her children grew, Anneliese worked as a cosmetologist in Alma, Nebraska
 and Orleans, Nebraska. She worked in this career for many years until 
her retirement. She enjoyed watching her children’s involvement in 
various sporting activities and school activities. She also enjoyed 
watching her children’s involvement with their horse showings. After 
retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband John to Arizona and 
California. Anneliese enjoyed cooking her many German dishes for her 
family. She could always make the best pot roast, cookies for her 
grandchildren, and various desserts. She also enjoyed gardening. She had
 an unbelievable green thumb which she passed onto many of her children 
and grandchildren. She grew the most beautiful flowers. She was a 
devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed 
fishing with her grandchildren. Family meant everything to her. She was a
 woman of Faith and a devoted Catholic and will be missed by everyone 
who knew her.She resided at Fort Dodge, Kansas near Dodge City, Kansas with her 
husband John until his passing in July 2020. She cherished her time as a
 volunteer with many U.S. veterans. She enjoyed making crafts with John 
until she lost her eyesight to macular degeneration. She and her husband
 were very involved with the veteran’s poppy program for many years 
while residing at Fort Dodge, Kansas. For the past two years she resided
 in Ogallala, Nebraska with her daughter Sue and her family. She loved 
her pet dachshunds, Schnapps, Heidi, and Rusty.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was blessed with a wealth of family. She and her husband were happily married for 68 years before John was called home.She is survived by a brother, Franz Trumler and wife Carol of Boelus,
 Nebraska; a brother-in-law, Francis Hofmeyer from California; two sons,
 Johnnie Roberts and wife Vicki of Paradise, Kansas; Donald Roberts and

Anneliese Roberts

Melvin H. Brummer was born to Louis &amp; Marie (Schroeder) Brummer 
on May 20, 1937, in Tipton. He passed away on November 8, 2022, at the 
Resident Care Center in Beloit, KS at the age of 85.&nbsp;

Melvin grew up on a farm south of Tipton as the 5th of nine 
children where they learned a lot about farm life, faith &amp; family. 
The Brummer brothers’ shenanigans sometimes led to a rosary on the 
shanty steps. He attended St. Boniface Grade School, graduating from 
Tipton High School in 1955.&nbsp;

After graduation, Melvin met his wife Geraldine (Boden) Brummer. 
They were united in marriage on May 2, 1959. They settled on a farmstead
 west of Tipton where they side-by side operated a Grade A dairy, cattle
 and farming operation. Melvin and Gerry were blessed with 5 children in
 their 56 years of loving marriage.&nbsp;

Melvin was an active member of the St. Boniface Catholic church. 
He served as an Acolyte and Eucharistic Minister. Melvin was a member of
 Knights of Columbus Council 1645 where he served as Grand Knight and 
was also a member of the Robert F. Kennedy 4th Degree. One of his 
proudest moments was the installation of his 3 sons and 2 son-in-laws 
into the 4th Degree.&nbsp; Melvin placed a high value on faith, family, hard 
work and education; therefore served as a member of the National Guard, 
Parish Council and Tipton School Board.

Melvin lived life to the fullest! He shared his wisdom, 
compassion, leadership and sense of humor with everyone. Some of his 
favorite pastimes were raising greyhounds (Queenie), coyote hunting, 
tending and checking his cattle on a Sunday drive to the pasture with 
fishing pole in tow. He loved the time spent playing pinochle &amp; 
pitch with family, polka dancing and could be found tapping his foot 
along with a Lawrence Welk tune.&nbsp;

Melvin's 15 grandchildren captured his heart. They were familiar 
with the pet names of Smoke, George, Peter Murphy, &amp; Snickle Fritz. 
He enjoyed giving them rides in his John Deere tractor where he was 
known to share life lessons along with fun stories. If they ever got 
bored, he taught them how to sing along to the tune of “Jimmy Crack 
Corn.”

Melvin's parents, his loving wife, Gerry, brother Charles, &amp; 
sister Twyla Remus preceded him in death. Survivors include his 5 
children: Robin (Kevin) Moore of Osborne, Stacie (Gery) Hake of Tipton, 
Troy (Stacey) Brummer of Osborne, Tyler (Rebecca) of Genesee, ID, &amp; 
Chad (Candace) Brummer of Tipton. 15 Grandchildren: Kylin &amp; Katelyn 
Moore, Justin, Jaron, &amp; Linden Hake, Megan (Kyle) Montoya, Shelby 
&amp; Shyanne Brummer, Jayson &amp; Alyssa Carswell, Tristen, Logan, 
&amp; Cadyn Brummer, Trenton &amp; Allison Brummer. Great-granddaughter 
Kassidy Brummer along with 2 more Great-Grands arriving soon. Melvin’s 
siblings: Cynthia May of Beloit, Victor (Betty) Brummer of Tipton, Harry
 Brummer of Lincoln, Kenny (Joanne) Brummer of Tipton, Sylvia (Rick) 
Budke of Beloit, Michelle (Phillip) Murrow of Tipton, and numerous 
nieces, nephews, and friends that made his life complete.

Melvin will be remembered as someone who brought a light so great 
to the world that even after he’s gone, the light still remains forever 
in our hearts!

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Monday, November 14, at the St. 
Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton. A rosary service will be at 6:30 PM 
Sunday &amp; visitation will be from 5 PM until the rosary service 
begins at the Church. 

Memorials may be given to the Tipton Schools, or 
Masses.

Barbara Hill passed away November 11, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional 
Medical Center.&nbsp; She was born November 20, 1947, in Ponca City, OK, to 
Charlie and Virginia Musser.&nbsp; Barbara grew up in Ponca City, OK, Wichita
 Falls, TX, and Salina.

She married Dennis Hogan, in Salina; they later divorced.&nbsp; Barbara 
and Dennis had three children; Sherrie (Hogan) Hand, Belton, MO, Shawn 
Hogan, and Stephen Hogan, both of Salina; 11 grandchildren; and five 
great-grandchildren.

In 1989, Barbara married Don Hill, in Great Bend.&nbsp; Don has two sons; 
Rick Hill, Wichita, and Robert Hill, Santa Clara, CA; and two grandsons.

Barbara worked a variety of jobs, and had her own business for a 
time.&nbsp; She found her real love when she became a para in a Great Bend 
elementary school.&nbsp; This evolved into a desire to become a teacher.&nbsp; 
Barbara went back to school at age 47, and received her teaching 
certificate to teach elementary school.&nbsp; She taught several age levels, 
but finally found her passion in teaching third grade.&nbsp; Barbara loved 
that age, and was a dedicated teacher.&nbsp; She continued to teach until 
retirement.

Barbara’s parents, her younger sister, Patti, and her admiring second
 mother-in-law all have gone ahead into that Heavenly Kingdom that we 
all aspire to, and now Barbara joins them.&nbsp; Those left behind will miss 
our loving and talented Barbara.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 
Elliott Chapel.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Partridge Cemetery.&nbsp; Friends may 
call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, with the family present from

Army and Air Force, was a retired truck driver, had worked in the oil 
fields and auto sales manager, song writer in his retirement years. Dee
 enjoyed karaoke, playing cards, writing songs &amp; poems and more than
 anything, teasing his numerous grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; Sons: William Desaire and 
Kenneth George Desaire &amp; son-in-law, Joseph Gerhardt. Dee is 
survived by his wife of 15years, Twila Desaire; daughters: Christi 
(Gary) Wilson, Tammie (Gary) Fischer, Julie (Christopher) John, Melinda

David Allen New

Curtis Howard Archibald entered this life on January 8, 1949, in 
Norton, KS and left to enter his “Field of Dreams” on November 10, 2022,&nbsp; at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, NE.

Arch was an avid baseball
 fan from a very young age. He played baseball in empty lots with his 
cousins and friends growing up in Norton and playing more seriously 
while his family lived in Westminster, Co. They moved back to Norton 
when he was in junior high. He participated in football, basketball, and
 track, considered those the only reason to attend high school. Oh, and 
the girls, of course. He graduated in 1967.

Arch enlisted in the 
United States Marine Corps after a year at Fort Hays State. He was sent 
to Vietnam in 1968 where he was a radio operator for his company. He was
 injured by shrapnel after being in the country for 1 ½ months and sent 
to Guam via hospital ship. Curt liked to say he was so good at his job 
they sent him back to Vietnam after his recovery. He mustered out of the
 service in 1970. He believed everything that came after in his life was
 "gravy" since he survived. Arch returned to Fort Hays State for another
 year before returning to Norton to help with the family distributing 
business.

Arch and Norma Bruggeman were married in October 1974. 
He loved his role as husband, best friend and lover to his wife. He 
greeted his children, Rayeann and Mike with much love and enthusiasm and
 became “Dad”. He coached both of their ball teams, sometimes running 
from one field to the next. He welcomed his three grandsons with wonder 
and delight, Jake, Max, and Eli, and became “Poppy” in his new role.

Arch
 loved his life and when someone would ask him how he was, he would 
always answer with "fantastic".  Sadly, his last few years were dampened
 by many health issues, but he never lost his sense of humor.  He was 
extremely good at telling bad jokes.

Arch is preceded in death by 
his parents, Don and Mary Lue Archibald; parents-in-law, Ambrose and 
Virginia Bruggeman; his grandparents; brothers-in-law Robert Machen and 
Kirk Allred. He is survived by his wife, Norma of the home; children, 
Rayeann (Mike) of Ankeny, IA and Michael (Tiffany) of Olathe, KS; 
grandsons, Jake (Andia) of Greenwood, MO, Maxwell and Elijah of Olathe, 
KS; four sisters, Peggy Machen of Phoenix, AZ, Dona (Tom) Purcell, 
Phoenix, AZ, Becky (Dick) Knackendoffel, Grand Junction, CO, and 
Marianne (Gregg) Wicker, Norton, KS (He liked to tell people he had four
 sisters and each one had a brother); brothers-in-law, David (Roxie) 
Bruggeman, Roseland, NE, Paul (Karla) Bruggeman, Rexford, KS, and Chuck 
(Sheila) Cart, Salina, KS; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; his 
friend and partner in crime (for many years), Richard Miller, and an 
“adopted” son, Jake Ward.

A Celebration of Life will be held 9:00 
am Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the funeral home. Inurnment will 
follow at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at WaKeeney. A visitation will 
be from 6-8:00 pm Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Norton American Legion
 Post 63.

 service in 1970. He believed everything that came after in his life was
 "gravy" since he survived. Arch returned to Fort Hays State for another
 year before returning to Norton to help with the family distributing 
business.Arch and Norma Bruggeman were married in October 1974. 
He loved his role as husband, best friend and lover to his wife. He 
greeted his children, Rayeann and Mike with much love and enthusiasm and
 became “Dad”. He coached both of their ball teams, sometimes running 
from one field to the next. He welcomed his three grandsons with wonder 
and delight, Jake, Max, and Eli, and became “Poppy” in his new role.Arch
 loved his life and when someone would ask him how he was, he would 
always answer with "fantastic". Sadly, his last few years were dampened
 by many health issues, but he never lost his sense of humor. He was 
extremely good at telling bad jokes.Arch is preceded in death by 
his parents, Don and Mary Lue Archibald; parents-in-law, Ambrose and 
Virginia Bruggeman; his grandparents; brothers-in-law Robert Machen and 
Kirk Allred. He is survived by his wife, Norma of the home; children,

Marianne (Gregg) Wicker, Norton, KS (He liked to tell people he had four
 sisters and each one had a brother); brothers-in-law, David (Roxie) 
Bruggeman, Roseland, NE, Paul (Karla) Bruggeman, Rexford, KS, and Chuck 
(Sheila) Cart, Salina, KS; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; his 
friend and partner in crime (for many years), Richard Miller, and an 
“adopted” son, Jake Ward.A Celebration of Life will be held 9:00

Curtis Howard Archibald

Joan Mary Lockwood, 88, died November 8, 2022, at Brookdale Senior 
Living, Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born January 16, 1934, on the 
family farm near Burr Oak, Jewell County, Kansas, the daughter of Henry 
Simon and Daisy Margaret (Niceschwander) Heskett. In 1952, Joan 
graduated from Burr Oak High School.

On December 16, 1960, she married Gerald “Jerry” Lockwood at the 
Methodist Church in Stockton, Kansas. While in Stockton, Joan first 
worked as a clerk of the court and later served as Judge - pro tem for 
Rooks County.&nbsp; Jerry and Joan moved to Wichita, Ks; here she was 
employed at the Sedgwick county courthouse. While living in Wichita they
 had two sons Kevin and Kenton. In 1971 the family moved to Great Bend, 
Ks. where Jerry, Joan and partners opened Parts, Inc. She worked there 
as the Office Manager for many years.&nbsp;

Her pastimes included collecting antiques and glassware, crocheting, 
and researching family genealogy.&nbsp; She was a fabulous cook, enjoyed 
dancing and especially adored horses. She was an accomplished rider from
 childhood.&nbsp; She would share stories of taking her younger siblings 
along to school. Three kids on a gentle horse trotting down the road. 
Later in life horsepower was redefined. Joan enjoyed driving her bright 
yellow 69 Super Sport 396 Camaro. Her boys remember the roar of her 
Camaro and the taillights as she headed off to visit family in 
Nebraska.&nbsp;

Survivors include two sons; Kevin Lockwood and wife Wendy, and Kenton
 Lockwood and wife Cynthia, all of Great Bend; brother, Jerry Heskett of
 Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Barbara Ohmstede of Guide Rock, Nebraska; 
and her grandchildren whom she loved very much, Thomas Lockwood - 
Phoenix, Az., Ashley Lockwood - Oviedo, Fl., Corporal Ethan Lockwood 
U.S. Army and wife Heather - Fort Gordon, Ga., and Joanna Lockwood - 
Hays, Ks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, SFC 
Donald Heskett, and five sisters, Thelma Wallace, Wilma Hageman, 
Jacqueline Boyles, Ruth Pickett and Norma Rohrdanz.

Friends may sign the book, there will be no viewing as cremation has 
taken place. Family will greet friends from 6-8p.m., Monday, December 
19, 2022 at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Joan Mary Lockwood

Norma Ann Hawley passed away on November 10, 2022, at the Andbe 
Home. She was born on October 22, 1941, in Warsaw, Indiana, to Edith and
 LeRoy Hawley.

In 1944, the family moved to Pierceville, Kansas. 
Her family moved around because her father worked for Union Pacific 
Railroad. They lived in a box car in Tennis, Kansas, but went to school 
in Friends, Kansas.

In 1951, the family moved to Scott City, 
Kansas, where Norma graduated from High School in 1960. Then the family 
moved to Garden City, Kansas where Norma began working as a clerk for 
JCPenney. She worked there for 25 years. She also was a caregiver for 
her elderly parents.

In 1997, Norma moved to Phoenix, Arizona to 
be close to her sister, Edna Mead and family. In March of 2007, she 
moved to Hill City, Kansas. She did this to be near her niece, Pauline 
King. In October of 2010, Norma moved to Topeka, Kansas, to be near her 
cousin, Donald Johnson and family. Then in January 2013, she moved to 
Norton, Kansas, to be close to her sister, Wanda Davison and family.

In
 August of 2020, she moved to the Andbe Home in Norton, where she 
resided with her sister, Wanda. She remained there until her passing.

Norma
 enjoyed doing puzzles, cross stitching on plastic canvas, traveling and
 attending church. She also enjoyed going on bike rides, while in Hill 
City, she was often referred to as the “bike lady."

Norma is 
preceded in death by her parents; brother, Albert Hawley; sister, Edna 
Hawley Mead; brothers-in-law, Donald Davison and Delroy Mead. She is 
survived by her sister, Wanda Davison; cousins, Donald and Robert 
Johnson; nephews, Robert and Justin Mead; nieces, Debbie (Mead) Collins,
 Sherrie Mead, Pauline King, Sharon Avedisian, Carol (Hawley) Rohrbough,
 Marilyn Hawley, and sister-in-law, LeAnne Hawley.

Funeral 
services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the 
Cornerstone Church in Norton. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am –

Norma Ann Hawley

Derril Lee Castor, 88, of Russell, Kansas, passed away peacefully Monday, October 24, 2022, at Russell Regional Hospital with his family by his side.

Derril was born August 8, 1934, in Torrington, Wyoming, the son of Glen and Ethel (Durham) Castor.&nbsp; He lived his early years in Arapahoe, Colorado with his parents and older brother, Delbert. During his elementary school years, the family had moved to Kansas in the Russell and Osborne areas. Derril moved schools often, but found his grounding in Osborne, Kansas through the connection of his coach, James Lewis “Lew” Comer. Lew helped find Osborne families with whom Derril could live with during high school. Derril was a hard worker and held several part-time jobs to support himself when he wasn’t atschool or practice for football, basketball, track, or baseball. He was class president his freshman and senior years and graduated from Osborne High School in 1952. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and served from 1957 to 1962.&nbsp;

While in Osborne, Derril met his life partner, Marvel J. Mitchell, when he was in 7th grade. Their friendship continued throughout high school. He and Marvel were married on November 21, 1959, at the First Christian Church in Osborne, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children; L’Mitchell and Lezlee.&nbsp; They have made Russell their home since 1963.

Derril attended Ft. Hays State University where he obtained a B.S. in Art Education in 1964 and an M.S. in Art in 1966. Derril began teaching at Natoma High School and then Ruppenthal Middle School in Russell. For the majority of his 33 year teaching career, Derril taught Arts and Crafts at Russell High School. When he wasn’t teaching, Derril farmed and ranched in Osborne County. He was a founding member of the Russell’s Original Art Review (ROAR) in Russell.&nbsp; He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church of Russell and later attended the St. John Lutheran Church. He loved making jewelry, pottery, ice cream, and beef jerky.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening. He especially loved watching and attending his grandsons’ activities, and traveling with Marvel and friends. His little jokes and sweet nature will be truly missed. Derril will always be remembered as a true gentle-man.&nbsp;

Derril’s surviving family include his wife of 62 years Marvel of the home; son, L’Mitchell Castor of Prairie Village, Kansas; daughter, Lezlee Ivy (Eric) of Parkville, Missouri; and four grandsons, Connor Castor, Nick Castor, Brock Ivy and Tate Ivy; brother, Larry Castor (Gayle) of Littleton, Colorado, their children Blaine and Rolna; niece Terri Crandall and nephews Jeff and Jay Castor. He also left several cousins and a host of friends.

Derril was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Delbert Castor.

Celebration of Derril’s life will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 11:00 A.M.&nbsp; Private burial of ashes will take place at a later time.&nbsp;

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Russell Original Art Review (ROAR) or the Derril Castor Memorial Fund and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service.&nbsp;

Donald Ulysses Hickok, 97, of Ulysses, Ks went to be with his Lord and 
Savior, Jesus Christ, and was reunited with the love of his life on 
Wednesday, November 9th, 2022. 
He was born July 21st, 1925, to Charles William and Mary Frances 
(McGillivray) Hickok in Ulysses, Ks. He graduated from Grant County 
Rural High School and joined the Navy at the age of 17 in 1943. He was 
sent to school in Maryville, Missouri, and from there to California, and
 then to Iowa University. He was taking the pre-flight program, and then
 was to enter the flight training but World War II ended and changed his
 plans. He then attended Colorado University at Boulder, graduating 
in1949 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. 
 Don met the love of his life, Ruth Ann Reese on a blind date during his
 time at Boulder and they were married on June 14th, 1948, at the First 
Christian Church in Logan, Ks. They were married for 74 wonderful years 
and enjoyed their kids and grandkids. 
Living in Ulysses for 93 of his 97 years, Don had been a valued part of 
the community serving in many capacities. He was a member of the First 
United Methodist Church, the Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79,
 Rotary Club, and the Masons. He was the treasurer for the Ulysses 
School Board for many years. He and Ruth Ann owned and operated the 
local Gamble’s store, later called Hickok Home Center. They served many 
people in Ulysses and the surrounding area for 34 years until they 
retired in 1992. They had many opportunities to travel the world through
 the companies they worked with throughout the years and enjoyed it 
thoroughly. As they were approaching retirement, they built a cabin home
 in Cuchara, Colorado. They spent many summers in retirement enjoying 
the beautiful mountains and the many wonderful friends they met there. 
Don was a wonderful husband, father, “favorite father-in-law”, Granddad,
 Great-Granddad, uncle, and friend. He loved his family dearly and 
showed it so well. He enjoyed painting, creating many wonderful 
masterpieces that were adorned on the walls of their home and shared 
with family. He enjoyed fishing, and golfing in his younger years. He 
enjoyed cooking and “Chef La Don” was famous for his onion casserole. He
 enjoyed sharing his life stories with family and anyone who entered 
their home. 
Don is survived by his daughter, Susan Goulding and husband John of 
Prairie Village, Ks; son, Bill Hickok and wife Bobbi Jo of Ulysses, Ks; 
grandchildren, Alisha Hickok of Wichita, Ks; Nolan Hickok and wife Jamie
 of Wichita, Ks; Lauren Carolan and husband James of Prairie Village, 
Ks; Spencer Goulding of Murphy, Or; Joshua Hickok of Ulysses, Ks; Kyle 
Hickok and fiancée Cassidy of Ulysses, Ks; Reese Goulding of Oklahoma 
City, Ok; and Brooke Perez and husband Tanner of Ulysses, Ks; 
great-grandchildren, Emma Carolan and Brecklyn Perez; and numerous 
special nieces and nephews. 
Don is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Annabelle Lahey; brother, Charles Hickok; and grandson, Johnny Goulding. 
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday November 14th, 2022, at the
 First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn 
officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery with 
Military Rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. 
Visitation will be from 2-6 pm with the family present from 4-6 pm on 
Sunday, November 13th, 2022, at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. The 
Service will be live streamed on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page 
as well as the Ulysses United Methodist Church’s Facebook page.

retired in 1992. They had many opportunities to travel the world through
 the companies they worked with throughout the years and enjoyed it 
thoroughly. As they were approaching retirement, they built a cabin home
 in Cuchara, Colorado. They spent many summers in retirement enjoying 
the beautiful mountains and the many wonderful friends they met there. 
Don was a wonderful husband, father, “favorite father-in-law”, Granddad,
 Great-Granddad, uncle, and friend. He loved his family dearly and 
showed it so well. He enjoyed painting, creating many wonderful 
masterpieces that were adorned on the walls of their home and shared 
with family. He enjoyed fishing, and golfing in his younger years. He 
enjoyed cooking and “Chef La Don” was famous for his onion casserole. He
 enjoyed sharing his life stories with family and anyone who entered 
their home. 
Don is survived by his daughter, Susan Goulding and husband John of 
Prairie Village, Ks; son, Bill Hickok and wife Bobbi Jo of Ulysses, Ks; 
grandchildren, Alisha Hickok of Wichita, Ks; Nolan Hickok and wife Jamie
 of Wichita, Ks; Lauren Carolan and husband James of Prairie Village, 
Ks; Spencer Goulding of Murphy, Or; Joshua Hickok of Ulysses, Ks; Kyle 
Hickok and fiancée Cassidy of Ulysses, Ks; Reese Goulding of Oklahoma 
City, Ok; and Brooke Perez and husband Tanner of Ulysses, Ks; 
great-grandchildren, Emma Carolan and Brecklyn Perez; and numerous 
special nieces and nephews. 
Don is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Annabelle Lahey; brother, Charles Hickok; and grandson, Johnny Goulding. 
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday November 14th, 2022, at the
 First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn 
officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery with 
Military Rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. 
Visitation will be from 2-6 pm with the family present from 4-6 pm on 
Sunday, November 13th, 2022, at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. The

Donald Ulysses Hickok

Patricia Darlene Everhart of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away from this 
life to begin her eternal life in Heaven on November 3, 2022, at the age
 of 81. 

Patricia was born in Hays, Kansas, on October 12, 1941, the 
daughter of John A. Degenhardt and Albina R. (Hepp) Degenhardt. She grew
 up in Kansas and attended Girls Catholic High School in Hays, 
graduating with the Class of 1959. Ms. Everhart had a long and rewarding
 career managing the department of pediatrics billing office of The 
University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She celebrated her 
retirement in 2018 after many years of dedicated service.

Patricia was a nurturing, faithful, and loving person with a true 
servant’s heart. For over 50 years, she was a member of the St. Andrew 
Catholic Church in Moore. Throughout this time, she sang in choir, baked
 for funeral meals, and was in Music Ministry, which ministered to 
residents in various nursing homes, hospitals and prisons. She spent 
hours in prayer for her parish and was a prayer warrior for the parish 
prayer and rosary groups. She loved reading her prayer books and 
discussing the Word of God with her family and friends. Patricia lived 
her life with faith, compassion, forgiveness, and unconditional love, 
never expecting anything in return. She was a wonderful person with a 
heart spun from pure gold, and she will be dearly missed by all who were
 lucky enough to have known her.

She is preceded in death by a son, Charles Everhart, her parents, 
John and Albina Degenhardt, and an infant brother, John Degenhardt.

Left to cherish her memory are her five children, Jeffery 
Schlittenhardt and his wife Cindy of Oklahoma City, Kayla McNeill of 
Oklahoma City, John Schlittenhardt of Moore, David Schlittenhardt of 
Chickasha, and Michael Schlittenhardt of Moore; three sisters, Judy 
Kreutzer of Russell, Kansas, Mary Jo Hoffman and her husband Floyd of 
Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Donna Cooey and her husband Ralph of 
Longmont, Colorado; along with nine grandchildren, four 
great-grandchildren, and many other loving nieces, nephews and dear 
friends.

In Patricia’s memory, be kind, forgiving and compassionate towards others and always walk by faith.

Emilio Rodriguez-Lopez, 24, died November 9, 2022, at St. Anthony 
Hospital, Lakewood, Colorado.&nbsp; He was born on October 15, 1998, at Dodge 
City, the son of Raymond Lopez and Catherine Rodriguez-Herrera.

Emo was a lifetime resident of Dodge City and a 2017 graduate of 
Dodge City High School. He was active in the band during high school as 
well as just hanging out with friends. Emilio earned his CNA Certificate
 and was always willing to be a caretaker for family, friends and 
others. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing video games, 
cooking and his pets. Emilio was a manager at El Charro restaurant and 
was also a caregiver for the Fischer family. He continued his service 
with the Fisher family on the family farm assisting with whatever they 
needed.

Emilio is survived by his mother, Catherine Rodriguez-Herrera and 
husband Robert of Dodge City; father, Raymond Lopez and Liz of Texas; a 
brother, Anthony Rodriguez of Dodge City; sister, Isabel Rodriguez of 
Dodge City; two step siblings, Raymond and Enchantra Lopez; grand 
parents, Richard and Patricia Rodriguez of Dodge City; nephew, Elijah 
Rincon of Dodge City; aunts, Tina &amp; Jon Galloway of Wichita, Rosie 
&amp; Lenny Garcia of Wichita and Patrice Rodriguez &amp; Jerry Martinez

Emilio Rodriguez-Lopez

Ambrose John Wondra, 85, died November 9, 2022, at The Atriums Senior
 Living, Overland Park, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on June 19, 1937, on the 
family farm in Odin, Kansas, the son of Alfred V. and Regina Rose 
(Kirmer) Wondra.&nbsp; Ambrose graduated from Odin High School in 1955 and 
then served in the Army National Guard.&nbsp;

On August 21, 1971, he married Margie Lynn Miller in Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on December 22, 2011.

Ambrose farmed in the Odin area and worked at the flour mill in 
Claflin. He would also roughneck in the oil field during the winter. A 
longtime Odin resident. He moved to Country Place Senior Living in 
Hoisington, but was still often found tinkering at the farm in Odin. He 
recently moved to Overland Park to be closer to his family. He was a 
devoted member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of 
Columbus, both of Odin.&nbsp; Ambrose was a member of a bowling league in his
 younger years and always enjoyed watching the Kansas sports teams 
whether it was the Royals, Chiefs, K-State or KU. He especially loved 
attending his children’s sports and later his grandchildren’s sporting 
events.

He is survived by three children; Mellisa (Justin) Miller of 
Hutchinson, and Mindy (Paul) Burkhalter of Smithville, Missouri, and 
Mike (Angela) Wondra of Overland Park; six siblings, Bernard Wondra of 
Hoisington, Mary Rose Oberle of Claflin, Leona (Jim) Canfield of Great 
Bend, Theresa (Wayne) Schremmer of Wichita, Norbert (Nancy) Wondra of 
Eugene, Oregon, and Doris Morgan of Wichita; and eight grandchildren, 
Morgan and Brooke Miller, Andy Burkhalter, Aubrie Burkhalter and fiancé 
Camren Harris, &nbsp;Allie Burkhalter, and AJ, Connor and Caroline Wondra.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leo and Jerome Wondra, and a sister, Ann Oberle.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. 
Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the church with Vigil and
 Rosary beginning at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 18, 
2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin, Kansas, celebrated by Father
 Terrance Klein.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
