Davy E. Rothe, 86, of Hutchinson, died December 2, 2022, in 
Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born September 14, 1936, in Great Bend, Kansas, the 
son of Martin W. and Mabel A. Petersilie Rothe of Ness City, KS.

Davy graduated from Ness City High School in 1954.&nbsp; He proudly served
 in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-1957 as a radio operator, achieving
 the rank of Sergeant.&nbsp; He moved to Hutchinson in 1957 and attended 
Hutchinson Community College.&nbsp; Davy spent his career as a floor 
installer.&nbsp; He enjoyed camping, boating, hunting, carpentry, collecting 
toy tractors, playing cards, attending his grandchildren’s activities, 
games, concerts and recitals and spending time with his family.

On January, 30, 1976, Davy married Rebecca J. Koestel in Oklahoma.&nbsp; 
He is&nbsp; survived by: wife, Rebecca of Hutchinson; son, Clay (Karen) 
Rothe, Hutchinson; daughter, Laura (Andy) McReynolds, Hutchinson; 
daughter, Jayne Ediger, Partridge; daughter, Amy (James) Fletcher, 
Wichita; and son, David (Robyn) Rothe, Goddard; 13 grandchildren; 11 
great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Private services are pending.

Memorials are suggested to the Reno County Museum or Reno County 
Cancer Council, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St., 
Hutchinson KS 67501.

Glen Jacobs peacefully drifted into the arms of his 
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 4th, 2022, in the presence of 
his beloved life Partner Kathy Blue. Glen was born December 7th, 1958, in
 La Crosse, KS the son of Virgil and Eldora Jacobs.

Glen is survived by his Mother Eldora Mae Lindt. Partner in life 
Kathy Blue. Brother’s Tom Jacobs, Harlan Jacobs, Dennis Jacobs. Daughter
 Jermae and Son Dylan. Stepchildren Katie Young (Josh) of Canon City CO,
 Heidi Blue of Canon City CO, Peter Blue (Shelly) of Beloit KS. He had 
15 grandkids. Ty (Megan), Breanna, Mason, Kylie, Leslie, Brendan 
(Lizzy), Ashley, Tanner, Landen, Jasmine, Evan, Maddie &amp; Benny. 8 
great grandkids. Aiden, Harper, Nash, Bruce, Kaybri, Tytan, Jace and 
Darius.

Glen was preceded in death by his father Virgil Jacobs, younger brother Joseph and several other family members.

Glen never knew a stranger and his home was always open to all. He 
loved working with his hands and was an amazing artist. He helped build 
our family church in Lincoln KS along with our church in Beloit. Glen 
also enjoyed working on his family farm.

Memorial Service will be held 10:00 am Saturday December 10th at Ray Avenue Baptist Church, 2801 Ray Ave. Salina KS.

Annie Wauneta Parsons was born March 5, 1927, in Logan, Kansas, at the 
Hutchinson Farm to Willie “Bill” Carl and Annie Josephine (Fisk) 
Hutchinson and passed away peacefully December 5, 2022, at Norton County 
Hospital.

Waunnie was 8th out of 10 children, she and her siblings had a 
special bond and shared many fun times.&nbsp; Waunnie graduated from Logan 
High School in 1945 and then enjoyed teaching at the country school.

On October 9, 1947, she married her loving and devoted husband, 
Johnnie Parsons. They raised four children, DeeAnn, Max, Paula and Jill.

Waunnie was a homemaker, active member of the United Methodist Church
 and American Legion Auxiliary. She was very proud of her families 
military service. Waunnie was known for her baking and the many, many 
beautiful cakes she made for all occasions. She enjoyed the outdoors and
 shared the love of gardening and canning with many people.&nbsp; Her yard 
was a great place to sit, drink coffee and enjoy her love of flowers and
 birds. Waunnie also enjoyed quilting and she shared her beautiful 
hand-made quilts with family and friends. If there was a ballgame on tv,
 she was watching! Definitely never missing the KC Royals and Chiefs!

She is survived by son, Max (Karen) Parsons, Ness City, daughters, 
DeeAnn Ward, Hays, Paula Stutterhiem, Prairie View and Jill (Ray) Lampe,
 Tonganoxie. Grandchilden, Annie Diedrich, AJ Ward &amp; Cathy, Dustin 
&amp; Aimee Parsons, Barry &amp; Nikki Parsons, Heather &amp; Mark 
Solberg, Brandy &amp; Jeremy Coozennoy, Will &amp; Jamie Stutterheim, 
Cody, Weston and Sarah Lampe.

She was preceded in death by husband, Johnnie, son-in-laws, Spencer 
Stutterheim and Monk Ward, grandson-in-law, Randy Diedrich, her parents,
 brothers Leland, Max, Ward, Bill, Gene, and Don, sisters, Eve, Lucille 
and Phebe.

Wauneta Parsons

Ronald “Ronnie” K. Parks, 85, left this earth in quiet and peaceful 
comfort on December 6, 2022, at the Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, 
Kan.. He was born September 29, 1937, in Stafford, Kan., the only son of 
Charles K. and Elizabeth G. (Logue) Parks. He married Joan 
(Gallaugher) in Enid, Okla. on April 17, 1959. They would welcome their 
first child, Kenneth J. Parks in November of that year. Their second 
child, Julie Parks was born July 12, 1961, and they completed their 
family with the birth of their third and final child, Ronald “Stony” L. 
Parks on October 2, 1962. Ronnie was a man for his time and place, 
finding success through his hard work and determination. From his humble
 beginnings, he built a life and raised a family with his wife, Joan. 
They lived in Medicine Lodge, Kan., Ellis, Kan., Ellinwood, Kan., and 
eventually settled in Woodward, Okla. after his retirement. He 
built his career in the oilfield, working for Gabbert &amp; Jones 
Drilling Company and eventually Cheyenne Drilling Company until his 
retirement in 2002. His work ethic was revered by all those he worked 
with and it subsequently propelled him through the ranks of the drilling
 industry. After his retirement, Cheyenne Drilling would go on to name a
 rig after him. He was the foundation and stronghold for his family
 in good times and otherwise. He was strong and quiet, but full of love 
and support. He was the ultimate provider to those he loved. 
He is survived by his eldest son, Kenny and wife Tonya of Elkhart, Kan.;
 grandson Tyler Parks of Hugoton, Kan.; grandson Chance and wife Chelsey
 Parks of Ratliff City, Okla. and their children, his 
great-grandchildren, Andria and Kenneth; granddaughter Whitney Parks of 
Hays, Kan.; grandson Cole Parks of Elkhart, Kan., grandson Caleb Parks 
of Woodward, Okla.; and sister Velta Youngblood of Tucson, Ariz.; and 
numerous nieces and nephews. Ronnie is preceded in death by 
his parents; wife Joan Parks; daughter Julie Parks; son Ronald “Stony” 
Parks; grandson Brent Parks; and sister Shirley Carmin. 
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at

Darrell Tegarden, 73, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Diversicare of Larned.

He was born February 26, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Norman Raymond and Lois May Dover Tegarden.

Moving from Rogers, Arkansas, he was a Larned resident since 2009. He
 was contractor and built approximately 400 homes. He played softball, 
baseball, basketball, and football and was All American Kansas, played 
semiprofessional baseball, and was inducted into the Wichita West Hall 
of Fame for football and baseball. He was a member of the First Southern
 Baptist Church, Larned, served as a church deacon and loved fishing, 
hunting, guns, and knives.

He married Cathy L. O’Conner on August 25, 1968, in Wichita, Kansas.

Other survivors include: 2 daughters, Kari Moreton, Larned, and Amy 
(Paul) Carrington, Pratt, Kansas; sister, Elaine Tegarden, Texas, 
brother, Terry Tegarden, Dodge City, Kansas, Five grandchildren Austin 
(Kaylee) Carrington, Sara Beth Carrington, Max Moreton, William 
Carrington, and Seth Carrington; and 1 Great Grandchild Reuben 
Carrington.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and two sisters Judy Wallace and Janis Tegarden.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 
2022, at the First Southern Baptist Church, Larned, with Brother Benny

Darrell Ray Tegarden

Ben W. Keith, 93, passed away October 16, 2022, in Pharr, Texas. He 
was born August 17, 1929, in rural Graham County, Kansas, the first of 
two sons of William J. and Ethel L. (Fawcett) Keith. He grew up two 
miles west of Penokee along the Solomon River where he and his brother 
John ran barefoot, had a goat swing that swung out over a big embankment
 and chased lots of rabbits. He had always celebrated his birthday 
August 18th until he found his birth certificate and it stated he was 
born the 17th. His mom must have been in shock! His parents called him 
Benny until he started school when someone suggested that they shorten 
that to Ben, which sounded more grown up.

He attended Morland 
grade and high schools graduating in 1948. The boys rode with neighbors 
who drove Model A Fords and once had a ride in a 1926 Chevy. Ben enjoyed
 racing cars with John and their friends, wrestling and going to dances.
 Believe it or not, in high school he referred to himself as a 
“wallflower” because he was too shy to ask a girl to dance. He worked at
 the A.T. Sanger farm through high school, continuing working for the 
Sangers until joining the Armed Forces in June of 1954. He completed his
 basic training and schooling in Arkansas at Camp Chaffee. He was later 
stationed in Korea and was honorably discharged in June of 1956. He was 
proud to have served in the military and felt extremely honored when he 
received a Quilt of Valor in 2016. The quilt was on his chair and used 
every day.

When Ben returned to Graham County, he met and married 
Charlotte Riggs in 1959. Two daughters, Donna and Billie, were born to 
this union. The couple later divorced. In the mid-'60s, he joined his 
brother in a farm partnership and later owned his own farm. His favorite
 part of farming and ranching were the cattle. He would train them to 
come with a honk of his pickup horn. They would come running in great 
anticipation of a grain treat and the girls remember that if you weren’t
 fast enough to dump the grain, you would be surrounded by steers 
licking their lips! Farming and ranching were an integral part of Ben’s 
entire life and he was very proud when the farm received the recognition
 of a century farm. Ben was a member of the Masons for 70 years. He was a
 past Master of the Morland Lodge and later an active member of the 
Millbrook Lodge in Hill City. As an active community member,  he served a
 stint as Mayor of Morland, served on the cemetery, water district, and 
township boards.

Ben beamed with pride whenever he was with his 
grandson, Jay. On his summer visits from Texas, he was always amazed at 
how fast Jay was growing. Grandpa Ben had a plethora of gophers in his 
yard and taught Jay how to trap them, which Jay took great pleasure in 
showing his favorite aunt. There were several great nephews and young 
guests in town that got their first trapping and driving lessons from 
Ben. Jay has many memories with his grandpa, but a favorite is when they
 were catching minnows in the river and Grandpa just jumped right in. 
Ben’s laugh was contagious and couldn’t help a good laugh-out-loud every
 time he watched Jay’s dog and cat play hide, seek and attack!

Ben
 loved to travel and see new places. On one bus trip, he met Karen 
Stettes and together they enjoyed 25 years traveling and dancing. Their 
travels took them to Mexico, Alaska, New York and many bus trips 
throughout the United States. When they were home in Texas, they would 
have morning coffee and play a couple of dice games, of which he became 
quite proficient. In fact, he said he was almost ashamed that he kept 
winning! He also enjoyed playing cards and games, talking politics and 
made many friends especially if they were Republicans.

Preceding 
Ben in death were his parents, brother, John and sister-in-law Wilma and
  his niece Laura. Left to mourn his passing are his partner, Karen 
Stettes; daughters: Donna (Alex) Leslie and Billie (Mike) Frakes; and 
grandsons: Cody and Jay Frakes.

come with a honk of his pickup horn. They would come running in great 
anticipation of a grain treat and the girls remember that if you weren’t
 fast enough to dump the grain, you would be surrounded by steers 
licking their lips! Farming and ranching were an integral part of Ben’s 
entire life and he was very proud when the farm received the recognition
 of a century farm. Ben was a member of the Masons for 70 years. He was a
 past Master of the Morland Lodge and later an active member of the 
Millbrook Lodge in Hill City. As an active community member, he served a
 stint as Mayor of Morland, served on the cemetery, water district, and 
township boards.Ben beamed with pride whenever he was with his 
grandson, Jay. On his summer visits from Texas, he was always amazed at 
how fast Jay was growing. Grandpa Ben had a plethora of gophers in his 
yard and taught Jay how to trap them, which Jay took great pleasure in 
showing his favorite aunt. There were several great nephews and young 
guests in town that got their first trapping and driving lessons from 
Ben. Jay has many memories with his grandpa, but a favorite is when they
 were catching minnows in the river and Grandpa just jumped right in. 
Ben’s laugh was contagious and couldn’t help a good laugh-out-loud every
 time he watched Jay’s dog and cat play hide, seek and attack!Ben
 loved to travel and see new places. On one bus trip, he met Karen 
Stettes and together they enjoyed 25 years traveling and dancing. Their 
travels took them to Mexico, Alaska, New York and many bus trips 
throughout the United States. When they were home in Texas, they would 
have morning coffee and play a couple of dice games, of which he became 
quite proficient. In fact, he said he was almost ashamed that he kept 
winning! He also enjoyed playing cards and games, talking politics and 
made many friends especially if they were Republicans.Preceding 
Ben in death were his parents, brother, John and sister-in-law Wilma and
 his niece Laura. Left to mourn his passing are his partner, Karen

Leona Ruth Hockett, 88, passed away December 6, 2022, at Diversicare of Larned.

She was born September 19, 1934, in rural Burdett, the daughter of William Carl and Sarah Christina Schwindt Sucht.

A lifetime area resident, she was of the protestant faith. She was 
the assistant manager and then later the manager at T.M. Deal Lumber for
 thirty plus years, and a member of the Fort Larned Lions Club. Her 
hobbies included: cake decorating, painting, upholstery, and cooking.

On June 20, 1954, she married Wendell D. Griffin; they later divorced and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2018.

On August 8, 1992, she married Lee Hockett at Longford, Kansas; he preceded her in death on September 29, 2017.

Survivors include: daughter, Brenda (Brian) Reed, Larned; three sons,
 David (Teresa) Griffin Sr., Larned, Bruce (Elizabeth) Griffin, Larned, 
Byron Griffin, Larned; brother, Carl Sucht, Dodge City; seven 
grandchildren, David (Ginny) Griffin Jr., Heather (Cody) Folmer, Jessica
 Woods, Devin (Kristin) Reed, Kyle (Jessica) Reed, Carly Reed-Leiker, 
Bill (Sarah) Griffin; twenty great grandchildren, and one great-great 
grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Don Sucht.

Cremation has taken place and Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.

City, Kansas the daughter of Raymond and Stella (Crofton) Ellis.

Jane graduated from Garden City High School and then went on the 
attend beauty school.&nbsp; On October 19, 2959, she married Gary O’Brien in 
Ness City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2005.

&nbsp;She was a hair stylist in Ransom for several years before starting a
 family.&nbsp; Between raising a family, supporting her children in riding 
horses and sports, she worked as a waitress and at Rexall drug prior 
going to work at the Ness County Sheriff's Office where she was the 
Records clerk, and head dispatcher for 39 yrs. She retired in 2008. Jane
 was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and Altar Society, the Indian 
Hills Saddle Club, Kansas western horseman’s association where she was a
 board member for many years.&nbsp; Between the children’s activities, 
helping Gary, and work, Jane loved to show horses, embroidery, grow 
flowers, and watch KU Basketball.&nbsp;

Jane is survived by her three daughters, Jonetta and Jackie O’Brien 
of Ness City and Justina O’Brien of Hutchinson; two sisters, Maybelle 
Bowen of Garden City and Rosie Palkowitsh and her husband, Raymond, of 
Burlington, CO; and three sisters in law, Joyce Ellis of Dighton, Louis 
Shauers and her husband, Charlie, of Ness City, and LaVone Hoss of Ness 
City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, David
 and Jeffery O’Brien; three brothers, Raymond, Robert, and Ronald Ellis,

A longtime Larned resident, he was a plumber and member of the Larned
 United Methodist Church. He enjoyed drawing and putting together model 
cars.

Survivors include: his wife, Tandi Smith; two sons, Payton McConnell,
 McCook, Nebraska, Sjon Blakely, Norton; three daughters, Darian 
McConnell, McCook, Nebraska, McKenna McConnell, Omaha, Nebraska, and 
Madison McConnell of the home; step son, Quincy Landrum, Valley Center; 
step daughter, Taelyn Goans, Hutchinson; brother, Richard (Kathleen)

Donald Ray Myers was born March 10, 1936, at Trenton, Nebraska, to 
Archie (Pete) D. and Pauline (Polly) F. (Pfister) Myers. Don grew up and
 attended school in Palisade, Nebraska. He graduated from Sidney High 
School in 1955. On February 8, 1959, Don married Charlotte 
Rose Sayer at the Congregational Church in Ogallala, Nebraska. Don and 
Charlotte lived near McDonald, Kansas for a short time and then 
relocated to a home two miles south of Benkelman, NE, where they spent 
many happy years. In the spring of 1976 Don and Charlotte purchased 
their hog farm one mile west of Hamlet, NE. Don began his work
 ethic helping deliver milk to Palisade residents and shoveling snow, 
etc. After his mom’s death, he lived with his older brother and 
sister-in-law at Sidney where he found work delivering water trucks to 
oil well rigs and working at filling stations. After his high school 
graduation, Don worked for Kansas farmers until marriage and the move to
 Benkelman. Don often worked two jobs – farmhand, truck driver, Nebraska
 Port of Entry (Border Patrol), and Feed salesman. The move to Hamlet in
 1976 proved good for the family as they all worked together with the 
hog operation. Later, Don managed the Hamlet grain elevator. He 
thoroughly enjoyed working with the local farmers. Don enjoyed
 hunting, fishing, horseback riding, leather works including horse-tack 
and carpentry. He especially loved spending time with his children and 
grandchildren. Don passed away Friday evening, December 2, 
2022, at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center, Wauneta, Nebraska. He was 
86 years of age. Don was preceded in death by his parents; 
brothers John (Shirley), Robert (Delores), Albert, and Roger; sisters 
Arline Richardson (Bill), Hazel, Bonnie Ferguson (Dean), and Shirley;

Norma L. Siebert gained her heavenly wings on December 3, 2022, 
surrounded by family. Norma was born August 14, 1937, at her 
Grandparent’s farm in rural Lincoln County, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer
 R. and Lola A. (Coffman) Geyer. She was the youngest of eight children.

Norma attended school in Leoti, Kansas, and graduated from Wichita 
County High School. She married Howard C. Siebert on July 31, 1955, in 
Leoti, Kansas. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage. They raised their 
three children in Sharon Springs, Kansas. She loved her family dearly 
and was always ready to help her children and grandchildren. She was 
affectionately called Grandma Norma by 9 grandchildren and 25 great 
grandchildren.

After Norma raised her children, she completed EMT training. She 
volunteered for the Wallace County EMT Association for 25 years, she 
also enjoyed volunteering for the Wallace County Amusement Association. 
She was a member of the Sharon Springs United Methodist Church.

Norma was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Cathy Siebert, Great 
Grandson Kyler Unruh, her parents, brothers: Virgil, Harold, Elmer Jr., 
Lloyd, Arthur, Sydney, and sister Betty Baker.

Norma is survived by her husband Howard, son Lonnie and Eva Siebert, 
son Kyle and Jamie Siebert, and daughter Allison and Ralph Mitchell. 
Grandma Norma is also survived by her grandchildren Dana (Chris) Robl,

Norma L. Siebert

Robert Edward Struckhoff of Athol, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, 
December 4, 2022, at Smith Center Health and Rehabilitation. He was born
 in Denver, Colorado, on November 25, 1942, to Eddie and Geneva 
Struckhoff.  Bob was the first of six children.

Bob graduated from
 Kensington High School in 1960. He married Barbara Norton on June 24, 
1962, in the United Methodist Church of Franklin, Nebraska. Of this 
union two boys were born, John Edward Struckhoff and James Jay 
Struckhoff. Bob’s construction work led him and Barb to Burdett, Kansas,
 and then Albion, Nebraska. While in Albion, Bob had an accident that 
caused life altering injuries. After spending many months in the 
hospital, they were led back to Bob’s family farm where he farmed for 56
 years. He enjoyed farming with his boys during the later years.

In
 his early farming years, Bob spent countless hours with his dad custom 
haying and custom silage cutting. They milked cows and worked from sun 
up to sun down every day. Around 1980, Bob started J&amp;S Machinery 
where he went to countless farm sales, meeting people from all over. 
This became the new focus of his life. Many of the people he met along 
the way became his lifelong friends. He spent many hours at the 
machinery lot loading trucks until the wee hours of the morning.

When
 Bob wasn’t working on machinery or the farm, he could be found working 
on his race cars. Bob followed in his father’s footsteps with his love 
of stock car racing. One race car was never enough for Bob. He owned up 
to three race cars at a time and was always in #32. He loved competing 
against his family and friends from Athol. Between racing and auctions, 
Bob never knew a stranger.

Other important parts of Bob’s life 
involved fishing with his cousin PeeWee, decorating the family farm with
 Christmas lights, spending Friday nights at the Legion, chasing 
grandkids to and from sporting events, riding the combine, and playing 
cards. In July of 2020, Bob and Barb had to leave the farm due to health
 issues and moved to Smith Center Health and Rehab. Bob always had a 
smile for the nurses who cared for him.

Robert was preceded in 
death by his wife Barbara, parents Eddie and Geneva Struckhoff, in-laws 
Vincent and Emerald Norton, sister Sharilyn Currey, and grandson Ryan 
Struckhoff. Those left to cherish his memories include children John 
Struckhoff of Kensington, Jim (Trisha) Struckhoff of Smith Center; 
grandchildren Alyssa Jones, Ashley Struckhoff (Dalton), Ragen 
Struckhoff, Reece Struckhoff, Addie Struckhoff, Joel (Heidi) Struckhoff,
 Samantha (Paul) Carswell; great-grandchildren Kaley, Ryder, Harley; and
 many other friends and family members.

Harold Marion Jordan, age 89, of Hays, Kansas died Friday, December 2, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi, Hays. He was born February 22, 1933, at Hutchinson, Kansas, to Chester Marion and &nbsp;Jessie (Ruff) Jordan. He married Shirley (Haney) Jordan on October 18, 1952, at Clayton, New Mexico. She preceded him in death January 25, 2012. He grew up in Hanston, Kansas, and was a 1951 graduate of Hanston High School. He was a graduate of Fort Hays State University in Hays, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and held a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska. He was a schoolteacher for 32 years and retired in 1993 then moved to Hays. His teaching career included school districts at: Turon, Preston, Palco, Liberal, Santa Fe Trail, and Plainville, Kansas. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hays, KPERS, and a 32nd degree mason for more than 60 years. The last eighteen months he has been a resident of Ascension Via Christi, Hays. Survivors include two sons, Brad Jordan, Hays, Greg Jordan and wife, Barb, Topeka, KS; his sister Virginia Bender, Burlingame, KS; three grandsons, Zach Jordan, Austin Jordan, Alex Jordan and wife Alexis. Douglas M. Volkland, 80, passed away on December 1, 2022, at his home
 in Pawnee Rock, KS. He was born on June 24, 1942, in Bushton, Kan., to 
Phil and Effie (Darnell) Volkland.

A lifelong area resident, Douglas recently retired from his career as
 a CPA, as well as serving his clients. He loved his work and, in his 
spare time, loved watching movies.

Survivors include two sons, Eric (Shannon Reed) Volkland of Labadie, 
Mo. and Daniel of Delaware; and two sisters, Jeannie Heubner of 
Jacksonville, FL and Jacqueline Gmur of San Antonio, Tex. He is preceded
 in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, Friday, December 9, 
2022, at Bryant Funeral Home. A graveside service will then follow at

at Hays Medical Center, Hays, KS. He was born July 6, 1946, in Cheyenne,
 WY, to George and Imogene (Hughes) Perry. 

Douglas served in the United 
States Army and was an HVAC service technician. On September 26, 1965, 
he married Cleta Bogart. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and 
searching the internet. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Oakley. Douglas especially loved spending time with his 
grandchildren and giving hugs. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Jordan Jacoby. 
Douglas is survived by his wife Cleta; children, Chris (Paula) Perry, 
Sandra Perry, Jamie Junge and Jennifer Perry; brothers Larry and Gail

Brenton Ray Phillips, 63, of Selden, KS passed away December 2, 2022.
 He was born August 5, 1959, in Colby, KS to Norman Raleigh and Connie 
Phyllis (McIntyre) Phillips.

Brenton grew up in rural Decatur 
County and was a 1977 graduate of Golden Plains High School. He went on 
to attend one semester at Colby Community College. Brent married Diane 
Kay Voss on September 10, 1988 in Selden, KS. Brent was a rancher who 
had a deep seeded passion for raising his livestock. He won the Red 
Angus Gridmaster award multiple times. Brent made a living doing what he
 loved. He also enjoyed team roping and was able to compete alongside 
both Clay and Lucas. Brent served as a Director of Farm Credit of 
Western Kansas from 1995-2016. He enjoyed spending time and sharing his 
knowledge with his grandchildren, Brylee and Teagan, and was anxiously 
awaiting the arrival of his newest grandson. Brent was a family man with
 a tough exterior and a soft heart and was loved and will be greatly 
missed.

Brent is survived by his wife, Diane of the home; 
children: Lucas (Kori) Phillips of Oberlin, KS, Clay (Taylor) Phillips 
of Alva, OK, and Tyler (Lindsay) Richardson of Pratt, KS; parents,

Norma Lee (Geyer) Siebert

Ronald “Ron” McKain of Cawker City, Kansas, died December 2, 2022, at 9:40 pm at the age of 63.  Ron was born July 28, 1959, to Theodore (Ted) and Verda McKain in Concordia, Kansas .  Ron graduated from Downs High School in 1977.&nbsp; &nbsp;He married his wife Evelyn (Geist) McKain in Osborne in June of 1977.&nbsp;

As a child, Ron grew up in Downs, Kansas.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Ron liked to laugh and be happy.  He had quick wit for almost any occasion.  His dad called him “PQ” because when asked to do something he would always say “pretty quick, dad, pretty quick.”  He was also known for having the “fastest feet” in the family.  Funny and elaborate stories of the adventures with Ron are told enthusiastically by family members.  His siblings say he was not only a good brother but a good friend.

Ron was known as a knowledgeable dependable hard worker.   He began his manufacturing career at Port-a-Port in Salina, Kansas.  They built small airplane hangars for businesses.  Over his 10 years, at Port-a-Port, he traveled to multiple destinations throughout the United States and managed the facility in Salina.  In Beloit, Kansas he worked and was promoted to Plant Manager at Landoll Manufacturing.  He planned to retired in December after 25 years.  His employees recall, “he could run any machine in the building” and even built some of them.  He was very proud of the plant and help design the layout.  His employees remember he was willing to get dirty and help out on the floor if needed.   He took pride in his work and held himself to a high level of excellence.&nbsp;

His greatest love was his family.   Ron and Evelyn were high school sweethearts and married for 45 years.  As a father of two sons, he enjoyed spending time with his boys.  They especially enjoyed time together hunting.  He almost always had at least one of his boys with him wherever he went.  Brian remembers, his dad never complaining when asked to do things; even it was a simple as just running to the local convenience store.  Steven’s fondest memories revolve around how funny his dad could make any situation.  He says, “dad was always cracking jokes and making people laugh.”  Steven remembers his dad coaching him in YMCA soccer and baseball when he was young.   Grandpa Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren especially showing them around the farm and teaching them how to hunt and fish.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ron was an expert gardener and loved to share his knowledge with family and friends.  He and Evelyn spent countless hours harvesting and canning their produce.  His family was known to fight over their canned homemade salsa and pickles.   He loved animals and on any given day could be found tending to his chickens, ducks, geese, dogs, and cats.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife Evelyn McKain of Cawker City, Kansas.  His son Steven McKain and fiancée Amy Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Texas and son Brian McKain of Louisburg, Kansas.  He adored his grandchildren, Melissa McKain of Corpus Christi, Texas, Benjamin, Ayden, Katie and Jacob McKain of Louisburg, Kansas.  His siblings Timothy McKain and wife Tammy of Knob Noster, Missouri, Velann Ediger and husband Wayne of Cookeville, Tenneesse, Sister-in-law Maggie McKain of Osborne, Kansas, Harold McKain and wife Debbie of Tipton, Kansas, Scott McKain of Downs, Kansas, Virginia Pollock and husband Donnie of  Wichita, Kansas, Valerie Bauske of  Devils Lake, North Dakota and countless nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  </figure>Ronald “Ron” McKain of Cawker City, Kansas, died December 2, 2022, at 9:40 pm at the age of 63. Ron was born July 28, 1959, to Theodore (Ted) and Verda McKain in Concordia, Kansas . Ron graduated from Downs High School in 1977.&nbsp; &nbsp;He married his wife Evelyn (Geist) McKain in Osborne in June of 1977.&nbsp;As a child, Ron grew up in Downs, Kansas. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ron liked to laugh and be happy. He had quick wit for almost any occasion. His dad called him “PQ” because when asked to do something he would always say “pretty quick, dad, pretty quick.” He was also known for having the “fastest feet” in the family. Funny and elaborate stories of the adventures with Ron are told enthusiastically by family members. His siblings say he was not only a good brother but a good friend.Ron was known as a knowledgeable dependable hard worker. He began his manufacturing career at Port-a-Port in Salina, Kansas. They built small airplane hangars for businesses. Over his 10 years, at Port-a-Port, he traveled to multiple destinations throughout the United States and managed the facility in Salina. In Beloit, Kansas he worked and was promoted to Plant Manager at Landoll Manufacturing. He planned to retired in December after 25 years. His employees recall, “he could run any machine in the building” and even built some of them. He was very proud of the plant and help design the layout. His employees remember he was willing to get dirty and help out on the floor if needed. He took pride in his work and held himself to a high level of excellence.&nbsp;His greatest love was his family. Ron and Evelyn were high school sweethearts and married for 45 years. Ronald 'Ron' McKain

Ramey Jean Herrman, 78, passed away December 4, 2022, at her home in 
Ellinwood. She was born in Nashville, Tenn. on November 6, 1944, to 
Lowry Smith, Sr. &amp; Margaret (Fowler) Smith. She married Ronnie Smith
 in 1964 at Lincoln and they later divorced. She then married Leo Leroy 
Herrman Sr. on December 18, 1987, at Great Bend. He died September 13, 
2015.

A longtime area resident, Ramey lived in Ellinwood currently. She was
 a CNA for Woodhaven Care Center until her retirement at the age of 64. 
She was a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Great Bend and 
enjoyed spending time with her family and church family.

Survivors include, her five daughters, Karen Holloway (Mike) of Holt 
Summit, Mo., Donna Smith of Hoisington, Sonia Amerine of Ellinwood, Kim 
McLemore (Jason) of Medicine Lodge and Connie Carr (Isaac) of Otis; a 
son, Halen Herrman of Great Bend; her four stepsons, Leo L. Herrman, 
Jr., John Herrman, Michael Herrman all of Great Bend and Andrew Herrman 
of Odessa, Tex.; a brother, Lowry Smith, Jr. of Nevada, Mo., a sister, 
Doris Handy of Orlando, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren 
with one on the way; and her beloved Shih Tzu, Oakley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo Herrman, 
Sr.; a sister, Ann Osborne; and a granddaughter, Miranda Ramey Smith.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial 
services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 
Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Curtis Reinhardt presiding. A private 
family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Lakin-Comanche 
District Cemetery in Ellinwood.

Ramey Jean Herrman

Richard Lane Kvasnicka of Oakley, KS passed away peacefully on November 
30, 2022, at Logan County Senior Living at the age of 88. He was born on 
October 31, 1934, on a farm north of Lucas, KS to Charles Everett 
Kvasnicka and Amelia Keller Kvasnicka. 
The Kvasnicka family moved to Colby, KS in 1951 while Richard remained 
in Luray, KS to graduate with his high school class of 1952. Upon 
graduation, he moved to Colby where he joined the Army and served as a 
Specialist 5th Class stationed in Alaska. 
Richard joined the Kansas Highway Patrol as a Trooper in 1957 while 
living in Lawrence, KS. In June of 1959, he married Judith Ann Cleaver in
 Chanute, KS. Their children Cheryl, Lane and Lynn were born while 
living in Lawrence. He obtained his pilot’s license in 1961. In 1963, he 
flew on the KHP aircraft crew where they patrolled the sky and highways 
over northern Kansas. 
The KHP transferred Richard to Oakley in 1964 to train new officers. In 
1970 he was employed at Pioneer Feedyard. He was elected Logan County 
Magistrate Judge in 1993 and served proudly for 12 years. 
Upon his retirement in 2004, he continued enjoying gardening, 
woodworking, motorcycling, and being an avid sports fan supporting the 
Oakley Plainsmen and his beloved Kansas Jayhawks. Drinking lots of 
coffee with friends was a favorite as well. 
Service to his community included being a member of the Oakley City Council, Library Board and Logan County Fair Board. 
Lifelong friendships from his neighborhood and community where invaluable to him. 
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Amelia; his 
younger brothers Charles Jr. and Melvin; brother-in-law William 
Slotterback and a half brother and sister, Farrell and Glenna. 
He is survived by his wife Judith of Oakley, KS; daughters, Cheryl 
Kvasnicka of Phoenix, AZ and Lynn (Chris) Vick of Royce City, TX; son 
Lane (Sharon) Kvasnicka of Andover, KS; grandsons, Justin Kvasnicka of 
Fort Collins, CO, Brett (Emily) Kvasnicka of Billings, MT, Tanner Vick 
of Pittsburgh, KS and Tyler Kvasnicka (girlfriend Stevy Stauffer) of 
Kansas City, MO; granddaughter Megan (Weston) Cottrell of Royse City, 
TX; great grandchildren, Calvin, Jackson and Hayley Cottrell; sisters, 
Charlotte Kvasnicka of Ellsworth, KS and Nancy Slotterback of Des 
Moines, IA; sister-in-law Holly Hart of Peoria, AZ. He is also survived 
by numerous nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly.

Ronald Dean Conine, 71, passed away December 2, 2022, at the Shepherd’s Center, Cimarron, KS.

He was born June 29, 1951, in Garden City, Kansas; the son of Jack C. 
and Elsie Mildred Young Conine.&nbsp; A resident of Cimarron since 1983, he 
was a Scale Technician for Hammel Scale Company.

He was of the Christian Faith; and was a member of the V.F.W, Dodge City, Kansas.

On September 14, 1975, he married Peggy Dawn Halling; she survives.

Other survivors include; three daughters, Shawna Leigh (Jerry) King, 
Bonner Springs, KS, Tina Marie Marquez, Ingalls, and Marti Jo (Paul) 
Beatty, Pittsburg, PA; a sister, Barbara (Randy) Slagle, Ness City; four
 grandchildren, Jace Keegan Marquez, Taylor Paige King, Rylee Danielle 
King, and Ryker Conine Beatty and two sister-in-laws, Lynn Conine and 
Janis Conine.

He was preceded in death by; his parents, two brothers, Jacky Conine 
and Edward Conine, a sister, Irene Cline and a grandson, Ryder Conine 
Beatty.

We are saddened to announce the passing
 of Sherida Linn (Woofter) Shoff on, Friday, December 2, 2022, at the age
 of 72, in Denver, Colorado.

Sherida was born on March 10, 1950, in 
Colby, Kansa, to Dale and Gladys (Shipley) Woofter.&nbsp; She graduated from 
Colby High School in 1968 and attended Colby Community College.&nbsp; Sherida
 married Dennis Shoff on November 10, 1972, in Colby, Kansas, and they had
 three beautiful daughters.

&nbsp;In her early years (1971-1977), 
Sherida worked at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Colby, Kansas, then 
provided at-home daycare in Goodland, Kansas, until her children were in
 school.&nbsp; In October 1984, she went to work full-time at First National 
Bank, Goodland, Kansas.&nbsp; She semi-retired from the bank in January 2022,
 but worked part-time until her health forced her full retirement in 
October 2022.

She was a wonderful daughter, wife, 
mom, sister, grandma and great-grandma who was always there when anyone 
needed her. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the 
community. &nbsp;She loved to read, watch sports, cook, and most of all spend
 time with family.&nbsp; Some of her community engagements included Goodland 
Public Library Board, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Community 
Dress Down Day, Sherman County Community Services, and Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her mother Gladys
