Emilio Rodriguez-Lopez, 24, died November 9, 2022, at St. Anthony 
Hospital, Lakewood, Colorado.&nbsp; He was born on October 15, 1998, at Dodge 
City, the son of Raymond Lopez and Catherine Rodriguez-Herrera.

Emo was a lifetime resident of Dodge City and a 2017 graduate of 
Dodge City High School. He was active in the band during high school as 
well as just hanging out with friends. Emilio earned his CNA Certificate
 and was always willing to be a caretaker for family, friends and 
others. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing video games, 
cooking and his pets. Emilio was a manager at El Charro restaurant and 
was also a caregiver for the Fischer family. He continued his service 
with the Fisher family on the family farm assisting with whatever they 
needed.

Emilio is survived by his mother, Catherine Rodriguez-Herrera and 
husband Robert of Dodge City; father, Raymond Lopez and Liz of Texas; a 
brother, Anthony Rodriguez of Dodge City; sister, Isabel Rodriguez of 
Dodge City; two step siblings, Raymond and Enchantra Lopez; grand 
parents, Richard and Patricia Rodriguez of Dodge City; nephew, Elijah 
Rincon of Dodge City; aunts, Tina &amp; Jon Galloway of Wichita, Rosie 
&amp; Lenny Garcia of Wichita and Patrice Rodriguez &amp; Jerry Martinez
 of Dodge City; many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at Abundant Life Family Church on 
Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Dr. Jim and Lydia Ames 
presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Monday, 
November 14, 2022, from 1:00 to 8:00 PM.&nbsp;

Emilio Rodriguez-Lopez

Ambrose John Wondra, 85, died November 9, 2022, at The Atriums Senior
 Living, Overland Park, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on June 19, 1937, on the 
family farm in Odin, Kansas, the son of Alfred V. and Regina Rose 
(Kirmer) Wondra.&nbsp; Ambrose graduated from Odin High School in 1955 and 
then served in the Army National Guard.&nbsp;

On August 21, 1971, he married Margie Lynn Miller in Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on December 22, 2011.

Ambrose farmed in the Odin area and worked at the flour mill in 
Claflin. He would also roughneck in the oil field during the winter. A 
longtime Odin resident. He moved to Country Place Senior Living in 
Hoisington, but was still often found tinkering at the farm in Odin. He 
recently moved to Overland Park to be closer to his family. He was a 
devoted member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of 
Columbus, both of Odin.&nbsp; Ambrose was a member of a bowling league in his
 younger years and always enjoyed watching the Kansas sports teams 
whether it was the Royals, Chiefs, K-State or KU. He especially loved 
attending his children’s sports and later his grandchildren’s sporting 
events.

He is survived by three children; Mellisa (Justin) Miller of 
Hutchinson, and Mindy (Paul) Burkhalter of Smithville, Missouri, and 
Mike (Angela) Wondra of Overland Park; six siblings, Bernard Wondra of 
Hoisington, Mary Rose Oberle of Claflin, Leona (Jim) Canfield of Great 
Bend, Theresa (Wayne) Schremmer of Wichita, Norbert (Nancy) Wondra of 
Eugene, Oregon, and Doris Morgan of Wichita; and eight grandchildren, 
Morgan and Brooke Miller, Andy Burkhalter, Aubrie Burkhalter and fiancé 
Camren Harris, &nbsp;Allie Burkhalter, and AJ, Connor and Caroline Wondra.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leo and Jerome Wondra, and a sister, Ann Oberle.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. 
Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the church with Vigil and
 Rosary beginning at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 18, 
2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin, Kansas, celebrated by Father
 Terrance Klein.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Ambrose John Wondra

Pauline (Felder) Oborny was born on November 18, 1918, on a farm near
 Claflin, Kansas. Andy and Steffie Felder were her proud parents. As she
 grew up, she lived in Claflin and later moved to a farm near Rush 
Center, Kansas. Pauline passed away on November 7, 2022, at the Denver 
In-Patient Hospice Care Center. She was 103 years old.

She had brothers Joe Felder (Kinsley), Vernon Felder (Nekoma), and 
Louis Felder (Wakeeney/Hays). Her sisters were Sister Dorothy Felder 
(Great Bend), Bertha Johnson (Andover), and Marie Vondracek (Timken). 
All are deceased except for Louis whom is in Hays. Pauline graduated 
from LaCrosse High School in 1938. After high school, she worked as a 
telephone operator in Great Bend, Kansas.

After John C. Oborny returned from World War II, they were married on
 October 20, 1947. They lived shortly “on the hill” just west of Rush 
Center, Kansas. They purchased a store in Timken, Kansas called the 
“Oborny Mercantile” where they spent several years growing their family 
of seven children: Connie (Sperberg/Denver), John (Oborny/Wichita), 
Marietta (Jones/Wichita), Mark (Oborny/Yukon, Oklahoma), Rosemary 
(Wiley/Wichita), Louis (Oborny/Kansas City, Missouri), and Theresa 
(Oborny/Wichita).

In May of 1967, John and Pauline moved to Great Bend after selling 
the store in Timken. In 1984, John passed away. Pauline continued to 
live in Great Bend until she moved to Derby.

She fractured her hip in 2011 and soon after moved to Denver. She 
began a water class at National Jewish Hospital and just loved it. She 
was the oldest person in the class and everyone in the class loved to 
tease her because she was totally afraid of the water. She also loved 
her church, Mother of God, and made many friends there.

In 2017, she fell and broke her other hip. She moved into Garden 
Plaza Assisted Living Center in Aurora where she also made friends, 
loved it and called it home.

Pauline enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved 
going to church! She enjoyed crocheting, baking, doing arts and crafts, 
and playing cards, dominos, and bingo. She enjoyed being included with 
her great grandchildren’s extra-curricular activities.

All of her children are still alive. Her grandchildren are: Jason and
 Scott Sperberg, Erica Hickerson, Tricia Sanders, Lindsey Jones, Kristyn
 Abercrombie, Casey Taylor, Travis Oborny, David Wiley, and Haley and 
Lucas Oborny. Great Grandchildren include: Austin and Ashley Sperberg, 
Elle and Grace Sperberg, Calais and Flint Hickerson, Ollie and Isaac 
Sanders, Elliott Abercrombie, Christina, Brianna, Luke and Ave Taylor, 
Christopher and Clayton Oborny, and Penny and Orion Wiley.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 18,
 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home with a rosary said at 10:00 a.m. Graveside
 service will then follow at 11:30 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park in 
Great Bend, Kansas, with Father Prakash Kola presiding.

Pauline (Felder) Oborny

Ronald Rome, age 66, passed away November 7, 2022, at his home in Hays, Kansas, following a courageous battle against cancer.

Ron was born May 18, 1956, to Pete and Patricia (Gardner) Rome in Garden City, Kansas. He was a graduate of TMP-Marian and was the owner of Steel Fabrications Inc., in Hays.

Ron married Carol Rohr, in 1976, and from this union they were blessed with three children: Jordan, Jarrett and Jenna.&nbsp;

Ron was an avid gardener, fisherman, loved the ocean and spending time with his family, if there was any physicality to a vacation or excursion, Ron was the first in line.&nbsp; Museums, his aquarium, fossils, geology, and astronomy were a few of his passions, but family was his greatest love. Ron was a kind, honest man, father, grandfather, and friend.

Surviving family members include:&nbsp; Carol Rome, son: Jordan Rome, daughter: Jenna Rome Darrah, granddaughters: Camdyn Darrah and Caelyn Darrah, mother-in-law: Lillian (Gerstner) Rohr, all residing in Hays.&nbsp;Brothers: Joseph (Anna Mae) Rome, of Holcomb, KS; Mark (Sue) Rome, of Phoenix, AZ; Patrick (Liza) Rome, of El Paso, TX; Timothy (Irene) Rome, of Garden City, KS; Gary (Lisa) Rome, of Woodlands, TX; sisters: Ann Marie Jones, of Lansdowne, VA; Marilyn (Alex) Vest, of Palmer Lake, CO; Teresa Rome, of Colorado Springs, CO; and Lea Rome, of Goodland, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ronald Rome

Theresa A. Saunders, 85, of Stafford Springs, CT, wife of the late Albert R. Saunders, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. &nbsp;

She was born in Willimantic, CT, daughter of the late Ernest and Eva (Fontaine) Beaudry. &nbsp;Terrie&nbsp;retired as an aide from the Mansfield Training School. &nbsp;She enjoyed going to tag sales and flea markets, and always loved her trips to Small Point Maine and Point Judith in Rhode Island. &nbsp;Above all, spending time with her family meant the most to her, and she will be dearly missed by them. &nbsp;

Terrie&nbsp;is survived by her five children, Debra Galotto and her husband Tom, David Messeck, Gene Messeck and his wife Nancy, Kathi Messeck, and Michael Messeck and his wife Cindy of Hays; step children, Elizabeth Coyne and her husband Donald, Joan Soucier and her husband Allyn, and Kathleen Smith and her husband John; daughters-in-law, Debbie (DaDalt) Messeck Wilson and Peggy Saunders;&nbsp;and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; and great, great grandchildren. &nbsp;

She was predeceased by two children, Danny Messeck and Wendy Hower;&nbsp;step son, Clifford Saunders;&nbsp;and three grandchildren, Stephen, Samantha, and Daniel. &nbsp;

Saunders, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. &nbsp;She was born in Willimantic, CT, daughter of the late Ernest and Eva (Fontaine) Beaudry. &nbsp;Terrie&nbsp;retired as an aide from the Mansfield Training School. &nbsp;She enjoyed going to tag sales and flea markets, and always loved her trips to Small Point Maine and Point Judith in Rhode Island. &nbsp;Above all, spending time with her family meant the most to her, and she will be dearly missed by them. &nbsp;Terrie&nbsp;is survived by her five children, Debra Galotto and her husband Tom, David Messeck, Gene Messeck and his wife Nancy, Kathi Messeck, and Michael Messeck and his wife Cindy of Hays; step children, Elizabeth Coyne and her husband Donald, Joan Soucier and her husband Allyn, and Kathleen Smith and her husband John; daughters-in-law, Debbie (DaDalt) Messeck Wilson and Peggy Saunders;&nbsp;and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; and great, great grandchildren. &nbsp;She was predeceased by two children, Danny Messeck and Wendy Hower;&nbsp;step son, Clifford Saunders;&nbsp;and three grandchildren, Stephen, Samantha, and Daniel. &nbsp;A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 10:30-11:30&nbsp;A.M., with a funeral service to take place at 11:30&nbsp;A.M., at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. &nbsp;Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. &nbsp;The family would like to give special thanks to hospice nurse Erin Holder, and Doctors Brown and Skalski, for all of their care and support. &nbsp;Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Health of New England at Home, 76 Batterson&nbsp;Park Rd., Farmington, CT 06032.&nbsp;&nbsp;To leave a condolence online for the family, please visit:&nbsp;<a href="http://www.introvignefuneralhome.com/">www.introvignefuneralhome.com</a>

Carol K. Musil, age 81, passed away November 1, 2022, at HaysMed with 
her granddaughters Jamie and Amanda by her side.&nbsp;Carol was born May 25, 
1941, to Henry and Gladys (Akers) Dizmang in Goodland.&nbsp;

Katie’s parents passed away at a young age; her older siblings raised
 the younger ones as their own, allowing the 12 siblings to remain 
close. Katie grew up in Goodland and graduated from Goodland High School
 in 1960.&nbsp;

On February 11, 1959, Katie married Ronnie Dee Musil in Goodland. To 
this union Julie Kay, Ronnie Lester and John Dee were born.&nbsp;

Carol worked for many years as a&nbsp;housekeeper for a few elderly 
people, she also helped her niece Pat Kirby at Pat's daycare.&nbsp; She was 
head housekeeper at the original Comfort Inn for several years.

Katie loved hosting card parties, many wedding and baby showers for 
her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to various activities of 
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She traveled with her 
daughter Julie on a genealogical trip to eastern Kansas, Missouri, and 
Arkansas to learn more about her Dizmang roots where they were able to 
meet several cousins that Katie had never known.&nbsp;She enjoyed many 
adventures with her sister-in-law Dorothy, niece Tina (Musil) Hanson and
 Julie for Black Friday weekends in Colorado and their&nbsp;annual Christmas 
cookie baking.

She was honored to be with her granddaughter Jamie during the birth 
of three of her great-grandchildren. Although Carol loved all her 
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her great-granddaughter Kayden 
and Carol shared a special bond from the moment of Kayden's birth. Katie
 loved her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the 
light of her life.

Carol began collecting angels shortly after the loss of her son John 
and loved collecting a wide variety of them over the years,&nbsp;now she is 
our special angel.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ronnie of 63 years; 
daughter, Julie (Jim) McCauley of Goodland; daughter-in-law, Alison 
(DeVader-Musil) Jacobson of Burlington, CO; grandchildren: Zack (Denise) Musil, Jamie (David) Proctor, Amanda 
(Tyler) Marcotte, Malaree Jacobson,&nbsp;Mirannda (Ethan) Kurtzer, Chelsea 
(Chad) Carlin, Jessica (Nathaniel))&nbsp;Macbeth, Tyrel, Clayton and Cody 
Jacobson, Gregory, Jr., Christopher Unruh, Daniel Musil, Jami Musil and 
Dusty (Sandy) Musil; 20 great-grandchildren with 1 more due the first of
 2023; sister, Darlene Kirby; brothers, Raymond *Dick* (Nancy) Dizmang, 
Darold (Carolyn) Dizmang and Rex *Duane* (Twila) Dizmang; sister-in-law,
 Pat Dizmang; brother-in-laws, Melvin and Dennis Musil; many nieces,

her.&nbsp;

Violet “Vee” Viola (Kraft) Griffiths, 94, passed away at the Great Plains Medical Center on Saturday, October 29, 2022. Her two surviving children at the time of her death were in attendance.

Vee was born on July 7, 1928, at her family’s home in Grainton, Nebraska. She was the third of eight children born to Peter and Lucille (Nestor) Kraft.

She married William Frederick Griffiths on October 26, 1946 in Oberlin, Kansas. Vee and Willie lived in Dickens and north Hayes County during the early years of their marriage. They moved to Wallace, Nebraska in 1959 where Vee lived until recent years when she moved to the Centennial Assisted Living Facility in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; Vee's husband preceded her in death.

Vee and Willie raised three children. Gary William Griffiths resides in Brighton, Colorado. Dale Lee Griffiths (married to Sharon) lived in Coppell, Texas and passed away in 2020. Joan Marie Payton (married to Andrew) resides in Bakersfield, California.

Vee loved not only her own children dearly but all children. She worked for the Wallace Public School District for 40 years in various positions: child care, a bus driver, a dish washer, and as a teacher's assistant. She often commented on enjoying the camaraderie with fellow school employees and watching the children of the community grow.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Wallace Methodist Church with Pastor Shanon Williams officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Morning View Cemetery in Wallace. 

A Memorial Fund has been established for the Wallace Public School, 151 North Wallace Road, Wallace, Nebraska 69169. Mark Johnson, age 52, of WaKeeney, 
Kansas, passed away October 29, 2022, in Victoria Kansas. Mark was born 
on April 12, 1970, in Mobile, Alabama, to Ralph Johnson and Barbara 
Rodgers.

Mark was a United States Army Veteran serving for 3 years as a Cavalry Scout. He had worked as a truck driver and handyman.

Mark is survived by his father Ralph 
Johnson and stepmother Beth of WaKeeney; his mother, Barbara Rodgers; a 
daughter, Mazzie; a brother, Matthew Johnson; and one sister, Julie 
Johnson.

Lola Mae Gilkison, 95, died Friday November 4, 2022, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka, Kansas.

She was born February 26, 1927, in Larned, Kansas, the 
daughter of William Melvin and Verna Ellen Broadbooks Barrett.&nbsp; Lola Mae
 married John J Gilkison on February 9, 1947, in the Radium Methodist 
Church in Radium, Kansas.&nbsp; John preceded her in death on January 1, 2015
 just a month short of their 68th anniversary.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister 
Opal (Kenneth) Dimond, brother Russell (Babe) Barrett and infant twin 
sisters Eileen and Irene Barrett and nephew Patrick Dimond,

Survivors include her children, daughter Marsha (Kent) 
Palmberg of Topeka, Kansas and son Chris (Jayme) Gilkison of Lake 
Jackson, Texas; five grandchildren Braden (Dawn) Palmberg of Topeka, 
Valerie (Jeff) Stebbins of Topeka, Scott (Candace) Palmberg of San 
Antonio, Texas, Karissa (Craig) Chott of St. Louis, Missouri and Tyler 
(Ashley) Gilkison of Austin, Texas, six great-grandsons, four step 
grandchildren and nine great-step-grandchildren.

Lola Mae graduated from Radium High School in 1945.&nbsp; She 
was employed at the City Clerk’s Office and First National Bank and 
Trust Company, both in Larned until her retirement from the bank in 
1992.&nbsp; She was a member of the Li-Ar-Mu Club, First United Methodist 
Church and United Methodist Women, all of Larned.&nbsp; Lola Mae and John 
moved to Aldersgate Village in Topeka, Kansas in 2012 after being Larned
 residents for over 68 years.

Lola Mae was dedicated to her family and friends.&nbsp; She 
showered them with letters and cards and never forgot a birthday or an 
anniversary.&nbsp; Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren treasure the $2 
dollar bills she steadfastly gave them at birthdays and Christmas.&nbsp; On 
one memorable event, the family created a poster of a $2 bill with her 
picture on it.&nbsp; She taught all of her grandchildren to play Pitch and 
Kings on the Corners.&nbsp; She will be lovingly remembered.

Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at 
the Larned Methodist Church at a later date. &nbsp;Memorials may be sent to

Lola Mae Gilkison

John Wayne King, 60, passed away on November 8, 2022, at Wesley 
Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. He was born on June 6, 1962, in Chanute,
 Kan., to Wayne and Bobbie (Chard) King. John married Tammy Noblitt, 
having one son from the union; they later divorced. He then married 
Cynthia Ferguson, who brought him two bonus daughters and two more 
children; they later divorced.

A lifelong Great Bend resident, John took the welding skills he 
learned from his grandpa and spent his life as a welder and rig hand in 
the oil field. Along with welding, he was a jack of all trades and loved
 working on cars. John was a lover of dogs, frequently volunteering at 
the Golden Belt Humane Society, and loved helping people.

Survivors include his mother, Bobbie King of Great Bend; two sons, 
Jeremy (Jacque) King of Great Bend and Jacob King of Salina; two 
daughters, Justina Yott of Hoisington and Joni Margheim (fiancé Jason 
Smith) of Salina; a brother, Eddie (Denise) King of Great Bend; two 
sisters, Wendy (Tony) Ernst of Overland Park and BJ (Darren) Stanley of 
Great Bend; fourteen biological grandchildren; companion, Susan Hughes; 
her sons, Justice Hughes and Christian Hernandez; and five 
grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father and a daughter, 
Jenna King.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Funeral

Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. He was born on June 6, 1962, in Chanute,
 Kan., to Wayne and Bobbie (Chard) King. John married Tammy Noblitt, 
having one son from the union; they later divorced. He then married 
Cynthia Ferguson, who brought him two bonus daughters and two more 
children; they later divorced.A lifelong Great Bend resident, John took the welding skills he 
learned from his grandpa and spent his life as a welder and rig hand in 
the oil field. Along with welding, he was a jack of all trades and loved
 working on cars. John was a lover of dogs, frequently volunteering at 
the Golden Belt Humane Society, and loved helping people.Survivors include his mother, Bobbie King of Great Bend; two sons, 
Jeremy (Jacque) King of Great Bend and Jacob King of Salina; two 
daughters, Justina Yott of Hoisington and Joni Margheim (fiancé Jason 
Smith) of Salina; a brother, Eddie (Denise) King of Great Bend; two 
sisters, Wendy (Tony) Ernst of Overland Park and BJ (Darren) Stanley of 
Great Bend; fourteen biological grandchildren; companion, Susan Hughes; 
her sons, Justice Hughes and Christian Hernandez; and five 
grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father and a daughter, 
Jenna King.There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Funeral 
service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2022, at Bryant

Thursday, November 17, 1938, and passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022,&nbsp; with her family at her side.&nbsp; A Thursday child; generous and loving 
throughout her life. 
As a child of the Great Depression, Myredith's early life was not easy. 
She worked in the orchard and garden, fished with her brothers in a 
nearby river, and froze her fingers raising ducks to help support her 
family. But she walked away from her childhood with a strong faith, a 
loving and supportive family, compassion for those less fortunate, a 
sharp-witted sense of humor, and a belief that determination and hard 
work would bring a brighter future. 
She was married twice, first to Ronald C. Tonne with whom she had four 
children.&nbsp; They lived in Norton, Kansas, where she worked as the Clerk 
of the District Court.&nbsp; She moved to Salina, Kansas in 1978 and later 
married Kenneth. E. Buss, creating a loving family that would last until
 his death in 2019.&nbsp; Ken made her laugh, loved her endlessly, and broke 
her heart with his passing. They were both devoted grandparents, 
attending all of life's events with great joy! 
Myredith gave love through acts of kindness: sharing recipes, teaching 
us to cook and bake. Fruits and vegetables were treasures, especially if
 they were free and picked by hand – they found their way into jellies 
and jams, salads and jello desserts to be relished each year on our 
holiday tables. 
She always had a project in the works! She gifted us all treasured 
holiday decorations, hand-crocheted pillowcases, and beautiful quilts, 
and she lovingly mended the stuffed animals of her grandchildren – a 
labor of love that continued even with arthritic hands and failing 
eyesight. 
Myredith found beauty in everyday things: watching her flowers grow, the
 smell of baking cinnamon rolls, the croaking of frogs, and the chatter 
and giggles of children at play.&nbsp; She enjoyed the fellowship of Mentor 
Methodist Church and spoke of time spent with friends from the choir, 
countless pancake breakfasts with friends and grandkids, and the comfort
 she found in this supportive community. &nbsp; 
With broken hearts and appreciation for the beautiful life she stitched 
together and shared with us are two of her siblings, Henry Elder and 
Annie Nelson, three of her children, Arden Tonne, Ronda Blatt, and Byron
 Tonne, her stepchildren Melinda Sevedge and Steve Buss, daughters and 
sons by marriage, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. 
We will miss her but know that she will be welcomed to eternity with 
heavenly hugs from her husband Kenneth Earl of 37 years, her cherished 
son Terry Allen Tonne who sadly left us way too soon, and many others 
who shared her life.

David F.L. Graner, age 53, passed away on October 7, 2022, at Hamburg, New York.

David was born on February 28, 1969, at Montgomery, Alabama, the son of Father James and Anne LoBianco Graner.

David graduated from Larned High School in 1987, attended Kansas 
State University for two years, then enlisting in the U.S. Army, later 
at the rank of Corporal. David called himself an “Army brat” since his 
father, and 3 uncles served in the army as well.

After his army service, David attended culinary school at Baltimore 
Culinary College, completing the 2-year course. He and a friend opened a
 restaurant in Outer Banks, North Carolina before being offered a 
position at a prestigious golf club in Southampton, Long Island, New 
York, where he worked for 8 years.&nbsp; From there, David then worked his 
way up through different chef assignments to a Sous Chef position, first
 on Fishers Island, and finally, completing his career at the Wanaka 
Country Club in Buffalo, New York.

David was of the Christian faith and belonged to Saints Mary and 
Martha of Bethany Episcopal Church in Larned, Kansas. His hobbies were 
many. David was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed the 
game of golf. &nbsp;

David is survived by his mother, Anne Graner, of Larned. He was 
preceded in death by his father, Fr. James Graner. &nbsp;Other survivors are 
his many cousins, Elise, South Carolina, Barbara, New York, Joselle, 
Denver, Blanche, St. Louis, Roberta, Connecticut, Gail, Independence, 
Lee, Florida, Loretta, Cincinnati, and Dennis, Kevin, Edward, Paul, and 
Frank, Florida, and of course, his many friends. He was very loved and 
will be greatly missed.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service with Military Honors 
will be held on Friday, November 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Mary and 
Martha of Bethany Episcopal Church, Larned with Bishop Mark Cowell 
presiding. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 9 am to 8 pm on Thursday, November

Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born January 1, 1957, in 
Borger, Texas the son of Rayburn &amp; Bettie (Blanton) Mitchell. 
 Glenn began his working career in construction. He married Jenece 
Hanson on May 20, 1998, in Garden City, Kansas, two years to the day 
after their first date. After they were married, Glenn went to work at 
the Hanson Ranch near Russell Springs, Kansas, where he like all the new
 skills that he was learning. When his health started to fail, he moved
 back to Garden City where he has lived since. 
 Glenn loved the outdoors. He loved going to various zoo’s, no 
matter how big or small. He enjoyed going to amusement parks where he 
could spend the entire day. He also loved traveling to his two favorite
 vacation spots, Santa Fe, New Mexico or anywhere in Colorado. He also 
enjoyed going to antique shops, and he especially loved his two puppies 
Starlet and Sunshine. 
 Survivors include his wife Jenece Mitchell of the home; his 
siblings Elaine (Paul) Webb, Kathy Widowski, Dyphene (Rusty) Daniels, 
Carla (Daniel) Williamson, Ray Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, &amp; Jimmy

Alan C. Hagerman, 70, Larned, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 
8, 2022, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned, Kansas.

Alan was born on October 4, 1952, in Larned, Kansas. He was the son 
of Elmer and Hilda (Hemken) Hagerman. He was a lifelong resident of 
Pawnee County, Kansas.

A 1970 graduate of Pawnee Heights High School, Rozel, Kansas, he 
graduated from Kansas State University in 1974. Described as a big guy 
with a big heart, he made lifelong friends as a member of the Beta Sigma
 Psi fraternity at K-State where he majored in Ag Economics. Better than
 the friends he made, he met the love of his life and on August 16, 
1974, he married Sindra Davis in Red Oak, Iowa. She survives.

Al was a farmer/rancher and he shared his love of farming, hunting, 
and outdoors with his wife and twin boys. He lived on the family 
farmstead near Rozel, Kansas, until his retirement. He and Sindy moved 
into Larned, Kansas, in November of 2017.

Al spent his retirement from farming being the unofficial parts 
fetcher or the midday taxi service. He always had a knack for stopping 
by to check on how harvest was going just as the evening meal showed up 
at the field. He loved driving out and checking his cattle on pasture.

Family and friends meant everything to Al. He enjoyed watching his 
grandkids play sports, at their shooting competitions, and dance 
recitals. He was always telling stories and accomplishments of his sons 
and their families. He and Sindy would often be found proudly cheering 
in the stands, reading in the bleachers at grandparent’s day at school, 
or losing an intense game of go-fish. He hardly knew a stranger, and was
 never in too big of a hurry to stop for a conversation.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Rush Center, Kansas. Al 
was active in his community. He served on the Mid-State Coop board as 
well as the Pawnee Heights School Board. He served as secretary for the 
church council. Al spent 25 years as a coordinator and instructor for 
the Pawnee County Shooting Sports program. He also spent time as an 
instructor of Hunter’s Safety courses in Rozel, Kansas.

Other survivors include his sons Brian, Larned, Kansas, and Kent, 
Timken, Kansas; 5 grandchildren Kale, Kole, Mason, Gabe, and Maddy; two 
sisters, Carol (Larry) Bartlett and Becky (Steve) Wondra; and 8 nieces 
and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Robert.

Memorial service will be Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. 
at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas, with family present 
starting at 10:00 A.M.

Church visitation will be Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 10:00 
A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas. A private family inurnment will be at a later date in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Rush Center, Kansas.

Richard Bernard Samson, 83, of Ludell, KS, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his home in Ludell Township, Rawlins County, KS. 
Richard was born July 10, 1939, in Union Township, to Adrian F. and 
Tressie B. (Flood) Samson. Richard’s life began on his aunt’s farm, East
 of Atwood. The family moved to the farm East of Ludell, in 1941, when 
he was two. Richard spent the remainder of his life on the farm he loved
 so dearly. 
Richard graduated from Atwood High School with the class of 1957. He was
 a farmer, rancher, and Archer oil salesman. Richard married Bernadine 
L. Hale on August 7, 1968. After her passing, Richard married Bonnie S. 
Jeffries on January 26, 2013. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bernadine, in 2010; 
his wife, Bonnie, in 2021; sister Frances Carpenter, in 2011, and 
nephews, James D. Cogburn II, in 2010, and Adrian Carpenter, in 2022. 
Richard is survived by his son, Jamie Samson (Sara Bishop); daughters, 
Barbara Steiner (Les) and Beverly Evans (Mark Ramser); sister, Shirley 
Cogburn (James); grandchildren; great grandchildren; five nieces; great 
nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. 
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:30 
a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood, with 
Pastor Dan Carson officiating. Interment is at Rose Hill Cemetery, 
Ludell, KS.

 </figure>Richard Bernard Samson, 83, of Ludell, KS, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his home in Ludell Township, Rawlins County, KS. 
Richard was born July 10, 1939, in Union Township, to Adrian F. and 
Tressie B. (Flood) Samson. Richard’s life began on his aunt’s farm, East
 of Atwood. The family moved to the farm East of Ludell, in 1941, when 
he was two. Richard spent the remainder of his life on the farm he loved
 so dearly. 
Richard graduated from Atwood High School with the class of 1957. He was
 a farmer, rancher, and Archer oil salesman. Richard married Bernadine 
L. Hale on August 7, 1968. After her passing, Richard married Bonnie S. 
Jeffries on January 26, 2013.

Richard Bernard Samson

W.N. “Bill” Bryant, 97, died on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Lane 
County Hospital in Dighton. He was born on January 30, 1925, in Lane 
County the Son of M.G. (Marion General) and Hazel Virginia (Newman) 
Bryant. 
Bill graduated from Dighton High School in 1943 and entered the United 
States Army to fight World War II. He was very proud of his service in 
the 160th Army Combat Engineers under General Patton. His company 
landed at Normandy and he received the Purple Heart after being shot in 
the Battle of the Bulge at Luxemburg, Germany. He found himself 
following in almost the same footsteps that his father traveled in World
 War I in Germany and France. After his discharge he returned to the 
family farm and was a lifelong farmer in Lane County. He was a member 
of the United Methodist Church of Dighton. 
He is survived by his Sister- Virginia “Ginger” Bryant Rankin, Nephew- 
Bryant (LuAnn) Schultz, 2 Nieces- Gini (Bill) Driskill and Heather 
Colleen (David) Underwood, Great-Nephews- Caleb Schultz, Marion Schultz,
 Joe Schultz, Aaron Schultz, Kevin Schultz &amp; Kasha Driskill, 
Great-Nieces- Margo Schultz Elder, Michelle Schultz Fullmer &amp; Damian
 Driskill Glenk, 10 Great-Great-Nephews and 13 Great-Great-Nieces.

Janice Anne Quance, 79, died on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Lane County
 Hospital in Dighton. She was born on December 5, 1942, at Dallas, Texas,&nbsp; the daughter of George Henry &amp; Eunice (Martin) Barber. She married
 Chet Quance on August 31, 1963, at Duncanville, Texas. 
Janice graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas and went to 
work for the First National Bank in Dallas. After her marriage the 
couple lived in Houston, Denver and Dighton where she worked at First 
National Bank until 1969. They moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where she 
worked in a bank and was a travel agent. They moved to Denver where she
 worked at Westminster Bank and also started working as a model for 
Powers Model Company. She later continued her modeling career while 
working at Cherry Creek National Bank. They moved to Parker Highlands 
and she became the office manager for the family Photography Studios. 
In 1994 they moved back to Dighton. She was a member of Bible 
Fellowship Church in Dighton where she was very active in the church 
activities including teaching bible classes. She enjoyed sewing, her 
cats and dogs, yardwork and anything nature. 
She is survived by her Husband- Chet Quance and 2 Sisters- Virginia 
Morrison of Plano, Texas and Dorothy Moore of Wichita Falls, Texas. 
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Monday at Bible Fellowship Church in
 Dighton with Rev Darrin Hammond officiating. Burial will be in Dighton
 Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at 
Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.

Rodney Eugene Smith, 67, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, 
November 6, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1955, in Smith Center, 
Kansas, to Harley and Cleora (Bliss) Smith. Rodney grew up in 
Osborne, KS he was on the wrestling team and in band. Rodney enjoyed the
 small town life running around with his twin brother Roger and little 
brother Rick and working at the town grocery store. The three of them 
spent countless hours in the summers at the Osborne City pool. He 
graduated from Osborne High School in 1973. His mother and father were 
very proud of him, and he was thankful for the loving home and life he 
had growing up. He always knew he wanted to be a Pharmacist and 
attended the University of Kansas Pharmacy School graduating in 1978. 
His first job as a pharmacist was at Dillon’s Pharmacy in Lawrence on 
Massachusetts street. Work took him to many towns in Kansas as a 
Pharmacist. In 1981 he was working at the Dillons Pharmacy in Salina, KS
 when he met his soon to be wife, Roxanne, at a Dillon’s picnic. She 
worked at another Dillons in Salina, where he came in to ask Roxanne out
 for the first time for a ride on his motorcycle. The two were 
married in 1982 in Salina at the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. 
They welcomed their first son, Christopher in 1984 in Lawrence, KS. In 
1988, they welcomed their daughter, Abby in Lawrence, KS. They made 
Lawrence their home and Rodney opened the Medicine Shoppe on 
Massachusetts Street. Life took them to Hutchinson, KS in 1991 
where Rodney owned the Medicine Shoppe on Main Street. They raised their
 children in Hutchinson until Abby graduated high school in 2007, when 
they made their way back to Lawrence where both Chris and Abby attended 
his alma mater Kansas University, which made Rodney so proud. Chris went
 on to get his PhD in Chemistry from University of Minnesota and is the 
head of a lab in the Kansas City area. Abby went on to become a Dental 
Hygienist and has furthered her career in Dental software technology. Rodney
 touched many lives and filled many scripts over the years, and had 
heart warming stories about the many people that touched his life in 
pharmacy. Rodney worked up until the day he passed as a remote pharmacy 
consultant for a non profit, Family Healthcare Center in Kansas City, 
KS. His passion became helping the underserved and he was able to give 
back by helping to start 340B Pharmacies for the uninsured. Rodney
 was an avid golfer up until he got pancreatic cancer. He has fond 
memories golfing with his father Harley, son Chris, brother Roger and 
nephews Jared, Ryan and Andrew and his lifelong Salina golf buddies. 
Rodney had 2 impressive hole in one’s throughout his golfing career. Rodney
 was a diehard Kansas Jayhawk fan, loved all things basketball and 
football at KU. He loved his Chiefs, and grew a love for the Oklahoma 
State Cowboys after his daughter Abby married her husband Derek that ran
 cross country and track there. Rodney was so proud of Chris’s wife Linh, becoming a pharmacist in his footsteps at KU. Rodney followed his dad Harley’s footsteps to become a Mason and was a Master Mason of the Masonic temple in Hutchinson, KS. Rodney
 was a jokester, could never remember the entire joke when he repeated 
it, which made his family and friends laugh even harder, he was often 
the brunt of jokes and that’s the way he liked it! Rodney was the
 grandpa that got down on the ground with his grandkids and would sit 
and play with them for hours. One of Abby and Chris’s fondest memories 
as children was Rodney telling them his own version of jack and the 
beanstalk as a bedtime story. It always ended in laughter and tears the 
way he told it. Rodney could not wait to be with his mother, Cleora in heaven. He talked about her every day. Rodney
 is survived by his father, Harley Smith of Osborne, KS; loving wife, 
Roxanne Smith, children, Chris (Linh &amp; Aiden) Smith; Abby (Derek, 
Lucy &amp; Drew) Tate, all of Olathe, KS. Brother, Roger (Neta, Amanda, 
Jared, Mark, Graham, Elia, Molly) Smith of Topeka, KS; Brother, Rick 
(Dee, Ryan, Holly, Andrew, Nomi, Tanner, Sammy, Heidi, Presley, Violet, 
Hadley, Penelope, Archie) Smith of Hays, Leawood, Prairie Village, 
Lawrence, KS. He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Cleora Smith. A
 Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022,

Ron Rome, age 66, of Hays, Kansas, died Monday, November 7, 2022, at his home in Hays following a courageous battle against cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 10 AM at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 2901 East 13th Street Hays, KS 67601, inurnment will follow the Mass in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Hays, KS.

Memorial Visitation will take place Sunday, November 13, 2022, from 6 PM to 8 PM with a combined parish vigil and rosary service at 7 PM at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine Street, Hays, KS 67601.
