Adrian Omar Lusero, 7 months, passed away on May 26, 2023, at the University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend Campus, Great Bend, Kan. He was born in Great Bend on October 17, 2022, to Cristian Lusero and Ashley Zubia.

He is survived by his parents; paternal grandparents, Erika Bujanda and Arturo Sanchez; maternal grandmother, Erika Hernandez; and numerous other family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Monday, May 29, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Vigil including a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Aneesh Parappanattu presiding. Arlene M. (Brungardt) Jones – age 82 passed away and was baptized into the Hope of Christ’s Resurrection Sunday, May 14, 2023, at her home in Fenton, Missouri.

She was born April 30, 1941, on the family farm at Victoria, Kansas to Joseph J. and Angela (Befort) Brungardt.

Arlene is survived by her beloved husband, Michael T. Jones for over 44 years; dearest mama of Christine “Chrissy” Jones and Darren (Kim) Jones; loving grandma of Kaylee Jones; dear sister of Kenneth (Bertha) Brungardt; Robert (Shirley) Brungardt; Edward Brungardt; Richard (Olga) Brungardt; Terri Christian; dear sister-in-law of Robert Jones and Sherri Koehne; our dear aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Angela Brungardt; her sisters, Regina Richards; Maryann Cushing; and her brother, Joseph Brungardt.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday May 30, 2023, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis Victoria, Kansas.

Andrew Wade Boettcher, 16, of Russell, passed away on May 21, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center with his family by his side from injuries sustained in an accident.&nbsp;

Andrew was born January 19, 2007 in Hays, Kansas, the son of Wade M. Boettcher and Amber M. Oliver. He was living in Russell and attended Russell High School. He has been very active with wrestling and football since third grade. He enjoyed playing online video games, spending time in the weight room and hanging out with his family and friends.

Andrew was the kid that always tried to do the right thing even when no one was looking. He never wanted praise or glory. It was no surprise to his family that he chose to be an organ donor. He will continue to help others with his donations.

Andrew’s surviving family include his mother Amber Oliver of Russell, Kansas; father Wade Boettcher of Russell, Kansas; brothers Austin Boettcher of Hays, Kansas and Dax Hoop of Russell, Kansas; sister JoHanna Boettcher of Russell, Kansas; aunt Shauna Pfaff (Matt) of Leonardville, Kansas; maternal grandparents Mike and Lisa Winkleman of Haysville, Kansas; paternal grandparents Paul and Delores Boettcher of Russell, Kansas; cousin Cody Pfaff of Leonardville, Kansas; and nephews Noah and Lincoln.

The funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell. A private burial of ashes will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Andrew Wade Boettcher

Eldon passed away peacefully on May 25, 2023, after losing his battle to cancer. He was born November 2, 1953, in Lyons, Kansas, the son of James and Virginia (Werther) Foster. 

Eldon was a graduate of Bushton High School, class of 1971, and of Barton County Community College and National College.&nbsp;

He married Beth Kaiser in Bushton on June 14, 1975. 

Eldon always remembered their anniversary when he saw the flags flying at Veterans Park on his way to work as a technician for the Rural Electric Company, working there for 36 years and then as a customer service sales support at Straub International and Protective Equipment Testing. He retired in 2019 and moved to Manhattan in 2021.&nbsp;

The proudest accomplishment of his lifetime were his children and their families. He enjoyed family vacations, travel adventures with friends, golfing, skiing, hunting, camping at Wilson Lake and Table Rock Lake, riding Rzrs at the sand dunes and mountains, spending time at the farm, and playing dominoes and cards with family and friends. He also loved watching the grandkids compete at sporting events and trap shooting.&nbsp;

Eldon loved to stay busy, whether it was tinkering in the garage or helping others; he couldn’t sit still. In the fall, he never missed a Kansas State football home game. He often looked forward to a good Crown and Coke with his friends and was always up for any adventure with his best friends, Curtis and Kathy Hitschmann.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife Beth of the home; daughter Keri (Suppes), and her husband Chad, of Hays; son Brian and his wife Christie, of Manhattan; five amazing grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kale Suppes of Hays, Raegan, Jackson and Justin Foster of Manhattan; five sisters, Joyce (Bruce) Martin of Wichita, Barbara Applanalp of Wichita, Marilyn Elder of Grand Island, Nebraska, Karen (Gerald) Oetken of Larned, Myra (Norman) Habiger of Bushton, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Services are pending with Bryant Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following services.

Vicki Lynn was born on February 3rd, 1945, the daughter of Walter W “Bud” and Velda “Wheeler” Shearmire of Modoc, Kansas.

She grew up in Modoc and graduated from SCHS in 1962.

In May after graduation, she began working at the IGA grocery store in Scott City where she worked until 1971. Moving after marriage, she worked for Presto stores in Satanta and Dighton, then moved to Leoti, KS in 1974.

In December of 1974, Don and Vicki began managing the Leoti Lanes Bowling Alley for 11 years. Don was a meat cutter and Vicki worked at Dairy King while managing the bowling alley. Later Vicki worked at the Leoti Standard newspaper for 18 years.

Vicki enjoyed sports and watched her kids and grandkids’ activities.

She is survived by her three children – Marti (Dorothy) Bremer, Ron Bremer, and Mindi Bremer; 12 grandchildren – Justin (Shelby) Bremer, Kyle (Jaylyn Dirks) Bremer, Trae (Jewell) Bremer, Tailar (Seth) McGregor and four other grandchildren; great-granddaughter Mayzee, one on the way, and one other great-granddaughter; brother Randy Shearmire; and several nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Wennie Shearmire, Terry Shearmire, sister-in-law Kathi Shearmire, daughter-in-law Brenda Bremer, nephew Cary Shearmire; great-nephew Jamie Dyer; and&nbsp; great-grandson Josiah Seth McGregor.

Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, June 1st, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. - noon and a come and go with family and friends from noon-2:00 p.m. at the Leoti Golf Course Club House.&nbsp;

Darlene Mae Imm of Phillipsburg, Kansas passed away May 19, 2023, at the age of 93 at the Phillips County Hospital. &nbsp; She was born May 31, 1929, in rural Phillips County, Kansas. &nbsp;The daughter of Charlie and Bertha (Johnson) Babcock, Darlene was the third of eight siblings. &nbsp;

Growing up, Darlene rode the family horse, Midge to the Deer Creek Grade School about a mile away. &nbsp;She played the clarinet in the high school band and rode to school with her friend, Betty Shellito, in a little red coupe with curtains on the windows. &nbsp; She graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1947. &nbsp;

&nbsp;On January 21, 1948, Darlene married Lewis Dean Imm in the First Christian Church Parsonage. &nbsp; Lewis Dean and Darlene lived the first 14 years of their married life 12 miles northwest of Phillipsburg. &nbsp;Darlene was a hard working farm wife, working side by side with her husband and father-in-law while raising her children. &nbsp;When the boys became old enough to help, she had more time to devote to her passion of gardening. They moved to their farm south of Phillipsburg in 1961, and resided there until they moved into Prairie Wind Villa. &nbsp;They marked their 75th wedding anniversary in January of 2023 with a family celebration. &nbsp;

To this union three children were born: &nbsp;a daughter Marcia, and two sons Tony, and Corey. &nbsp;

On November 26, 1967, Lewis Dean Imm and wife, Darlene Imm along with their son, Tony confessed their faith in the Lord and on December 3, 1967, they were baptized into the First Christian Church of Phillipsburg, Kansas by Reverend Don Macy. &nbsp; Darlene’s brother, Terry Babcock, was also baptized that day.

Darlene was a charter member of Deer Creek 4-H Club where her mother was the community leader. &nbsp;She later became the community leader of Deer Creek and continued in that role for over 35 years for her children and grandchildren. &nbsp;Monthly 4-H club meetings were held in the family basement for several years. &nbsp; Lewis Dean and Darlene continued to be lifetime benefactors to the Phillips County 4-H Fair. &nbsp;

For many years, Darlene served on the Deer Creek Township election board, providing the basement of their home as the polling place.

Darlene was a long-time member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship organization which was very active in the area. &nbsp;She served as treasurer for many years of the local CWF, and was president of the District CWF, coordinating events between churches. &nbsp; The local CWF was instrumental in starting the Community Good Friday Service. &nbsp;She was actively involved in sewing quilts for the Colorado Christian Home, was a Sunday school teacher for many years, Vacation Bible School organizer and teacher, and was chairperson of the funeral dinner committee, serving for many years. &nbsp; The First Christian Church women served back-to-school lunch to the teachers in August. &nbsp;&nbsp;

One of her most enjoyable activities was doing aerobics at the United Methodist Church with her good friend, Frieda Redinger. &nbsp; She loved painting ceramics with her friends and passing that craft on to her grandchildren. &nbsp; In later years, she enjoyed having coffee at the corner with her friends and family. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, son Corey, sister Katherine Hoover and husband Bill of Phillipsburg, brother Clayton Babcock and wife Betty of Lebanon, sister-in-law Gloria Babcock of Phillipsburg, and brother-in-law Ray Imm and wife Joann of Phillipsburg. &nbsp;

Survivors include her husband Lewis Dean, her children, Marcia Jarmer (Tom) of Wichita, Tony Imm (Linda), and daughter-in-law Mandy Imm of Phillipsburg, her brothers Don Babcock and Terry Babcock (Carolyn), of Phillipsburg, sisters Delores Panter (Fred), of Smith Center, Beverly Jarvis (Wendell), Phillipsburg, and Mary Miller (Butch) of Lebanon, Tennessee.&nbsp; Her seven grandchildren include Lance Jarmer (Andra) of Wichita, Dr. Shana Jarmer-Camblin (Jason), Wellington, Anthony Imm (Bailey), Laike Imm, Sophie Imm, Josie Imm, all of Phillipsburg, and &nbsp;Hannah Mongeau (Shane), of Glade. &nbsp;She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Funeral services will be held Wed. May 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 Monday and 12:00 to 9:00 Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church or the Phillips Co. Hospital.

 </figure><a href="https://www.olliffboeve.com/obituary/darlene-imm?fh_id=12336">https://www.olliffboeve.com/obituary/darlene-imm?fh_id=12336</a>May 31, 1929 - May 19, 2023Darlene Mae Imm of Phillipsburg, Kansas passed away May 19, 2023, at the age of 93 at the Phillips County Hospital. &nbsp; She was born May 31, 1929, in rural Phillips County, Kansas. &nbsp;The daughter of Charlie and Bertha (Johnson) Babcock, Darlene was the third of eight siblings. &nbsp;Growing up, Darlene rode the family horse, Midge to the Deer Creek Grade School about a mile away. &nbsp;She played the clarinet in the high school band and rode to school with her friend, Betty Shellito, in a little red coupe with curtains on the windows. &nbsp; She graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1947. &nbsp;&nbsp;On January 21, 1948, Darlene married Lewis Dean Imm in the First Christian Church Parsonage. &nbsp; Lewis Dean and Darlene lived the first 14 years of their married life 12 miles northwest of Phillipsburg. &nbsp;Darlene was a hard working farm wife, working side by side with her husband and father-in-law while raising her children. &nbsp;When the boys became old enough to help, she had more time to devote to her passion of gardening. Gary R. Hackerott was born 5/19/1937 to Oscar and Ruth (Mason) Hackerott in Osborne, Kansas where he was raised with his four brothers and two sisters.

In 1955, Gary met his future bride Shirley Krug of Russell, Kansas on a blind date, but the calling of California caused him to head west where the promise of a bright future, adventure, and opportunity lay ahead. Gary found work right away as his personality and strong work ethic made him a much sought-after employee.

In 1956, Gary returned to Kansas to marry Shirley on January 14, 1957. Soon after, the newlyweds said goodbye to family and friends to return to California. Gary began working various full-time jobs while picking up side-jobs to make a living for his growing family. On November 10th, 1957, a daughter, Brenda was born and on April 12, 1960, a son, Brian also joined the family. While in California, Gary worked for Goodyear Tire and then Fisher Body, a division of General Motors where he worked until 1967 when they moved back to Kansas to be closer to family.

Shortly after returning to Kansas, Gary began to work for Randy’s Steaks, a local frozen foods wholesale company supplying food items to restaurants, drive-ins, grocery stores, and schools. Gary bought the business from the retiring owner, and G.H. Food Service was born. Gary successfully owned and operated the business for approximately 20 years providing a great life and living for his family. Gary had friends all across the state of Kansas due to his business and the fact that “he never met a stranger.” During those days, Gary took a risk investing his hard-earned dollars in a new start-up local company, Osborne Industries. As one of the original investors, Gary watched with pride as Osborne Industries grew into the thriving company it is today.

After retiring and selling G.H. Food Service, Gary went to work for the city of Osborne to keep himself busy where he took care of Osborne’s parks and cemetery for all to enjoy. Lastly, Gary took great pride watching over and working at the local car wash, whose signage features a depiction of his beloved red 1953 Studebaker Champion.

Since childhood, Gary had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing as often as possible. Gary was known to be an “amazing shot,” bagging pheasants, quail, dove, turkey, and deer, just to name a few. Gary enjoyed woodworking as a hobby, in addition to hunting and fishing, with some of his Intarsia work being displayed in homes and businesses in the community. Gary was an early member of the Osborne Gun Club where he helped to develop and build the gun range located next to the Solomon River. Gary was also an early and active member of the local Pheasants Forever Chapter helping them to raise funds for the organization focused on creating wildlife habitat. The annual Youth Fair hosted by the Pheasants Forever Chapter was something Gary was a proud promoter of, teaching young boys and girls (and their parents) the importance of gun safety and the joys of hunting and fishing. The Youth Fair continues to be an event that brings many families from all over the state and surrounding states to Osborne, Kansas each year. Gary was also known to be a great storyteller and local historian as he shared his wisdom, knowledge, and humor along with hunting and fishing tales with anyone fortunate enough to share a “short one” (Crown Royal and Sprite) with him.

Gary’s strong spirit, determination, and never give up attitude helped him fight a 12-year long battle with Parkinson’s disease ending 5/23/2023.

Dad, you will be greatly missed by your family and many, many friends. Our memories of you will keep you in our hearts until we meet again!

Raymond Lee Edwards “Stingray” was born on February 22, 1961, in John Day, OR to Kenneth and Muriel (Gilbert) Edwards. Ray enjoyed many career paths in his life, but his true calling was being an over the road truck driver. He loved being able to explore the country and made many life-long friends along the way. Ray enjoyed many things in life including camping, hunting and fishing, but what he cherished the most was his family. He never had children of his own, but he loved his brother, sisters, nieces and nephews with everything he had. Ray was preceded in death by his mother Muriel Miars; infant sister Margie Ann Edwards; and nephew Shaun Wilcox. Idamay Sothers, 93, of Courtland, passed away May 22.

Idamay was born May 17, 1930, in Courtland, KS, to Lloyd Richard and Marguerite Muriel (Carlson) Lindberg. She passed away peacefully at her home May 22, 2023, at the age of 93 years and 5 days.

She grew up on the family farm and attended Courtland Public Schools.&nbsp; She graduated in 1948 with 19 students.&nbsp; On their senior trip to Kansas City she got engaged to Bob Johnson.

On August 22, 1948, in a ceremony at her parent’s home she married Robert LeRoy Johnson.&nbsp; She and her husband, Bob Johnson, enjoyed half a lot on Q Street where he built a ranch style home and produced a large garden. In preparation for winter they processed a pickup load of field corn for the freezer, canned tomatoes and other vegetables from garden, plus froze 100 young chickens each fall for their family.&nbsp;

Three children were born: Doran Carl, Deanna Carol, and Muriel Jean. 

Her kitchen skills were enjoyed by family and friends.&nbsp; She always enjoyed setting a nice table when she had company for a meal, using her beautiful glass dishes and tablecloths.&nbsp; She liked baking pies, cookies, and breads.&nbsp; Closely embracing her Swedish heritage, she included making rye bread, ostakaka, and spritz cookies at Christmas. 

Idamay cherished her two grandsons (Chad and Darin) living nearby and teaching them how to cook, in fact lovingly referred to them as “MY boys”.&nbsp;

First and primary employment was Southwestern Bell Telephone beginning July, 1948.&nbsp; She worked in Belleville then transferred to Concordia.&nbsp; She retired at age 52 in 1982 – 34 years.&nbsp; She and coworker, Betty Passmore, celebrated retirement with a cruise trip. She then worked at The Century Shop, Citizens National Bank, and the Travel Information Center.&nbsp; 

Following retirement she began going to estate auctions and purchasing antiques as a hobby.&nbsp; Her focus was vintage dolls 1800s to 1920s, and miniature porcelain shoes.&nbsp; 

She married Gerald A. Sothers on July 23, 1994, and relocated to Courtland, KS. 

Her time in Courtland was spent participating in the Courtland Arts Council, Red Hats, various card groups, Methodist Women, Eastern Star 50 yr. member, Courtland Library, and Courtland Pride.&nbsp;

March 2010 they became legal guardians of Quinn A. Sothers – great-granddaughter. Quinn was a welcome addition and remained living with them till 2022.&nbsp;

Idamay enjoyed music. She played trombone in high school and sang in the choir.&nbsp; She resumed piano lessons after retirement with first teacher Charlotte Seybold. Later, weekly private lessons were given by Pam McGregor which brought her much joy as she came to her home as a teacher and dear friend. She enjoyed keeping in touch with people she loved by telephone calls and sending cards to recognize their special celebrations.&nbsp;

Idamay enjoyed nine decades of divine health thanks to Jan Carlson as her health advocate. 

&nbsp;She accepted Jesus as her Savior. &nbsp;John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” IF you miss heaven you missed it all!

Idamay was an example of the Proverbs 31 woman:&nbsp; “She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future when she speaks, her words are wise and she gives instructions with kindness.” (Proverbs 31: 25-26).

She is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Marguerite Lindberg; husband Bob Johnson; siblings Dean Lindberg and his wife Donna; Norma Jean (Lindberg) Feigley and her husband Robert; her son Doran Johnson; son-in-law John Reynolds, and stepdaughter Sherry (Sothers) Hager.

She passed away peacefully at her home May 22, 2023, at the age of 93 years and 5 days.She grew up on the family farm and attended Courtland Public Schools.&nbsp; She graduated in 1948 with 19 students.&nbsp; On their senior trip to Kansas City she got engaged to Bob Johnson.On August 22, 1948, in a ceremony at her parent’s home she married Robert LeRoy Johnson.&nbsp; She and her husband, Bob Johnson, enjoyed half a lot on Q Street where he built a ranch style home and produced a large garden. In preparation for winter they processed a pickup load of field corn for the freezer, canned tomatoes and other vegetables from garden, plus froze 100 young chickens each fall for their family.&nbsp;Three children were born: Doran Carl, Deanna Carol, and Muriel Jean. Her kitchen skills were enjoyed by family and friends.&nbsp; She always enjoyed setting a nice table when she had company for a meal, using her beautiful glass dishes and tablecloths.&nbsp; She liked baking pies, cookies, and breads.&nbsp; Closely embracing her Swedish heritage, she included making rye bread, ostakaka, and spritz cookies at Christmas. Idamay cherished her two grandsons (Chad and Darin) living nearby and teaching them how to cook, in fact lovingly referred to them as “MY boys”.&nbsp;First and primary employment was Southwestern Bell Telephone beginning July, 1948.&nbsp; She worked in Belleville then transferred to Concordia.&nbsp; She retired at age 52 in 1982 – 34 years.&nbsp; She and coworker, Betty Passmore, celebrated retirement with a cruise trip. She then worked at The Century Shop, Citizens National Bank, and the Travel Information Center.&nbsp; Bob Johnson passed away February 1993.Following retirement she began going to estate auctions and purchasing antiques as a hobby.&nbsp; Her focus was vintage dolls 1800s to 1920s, and miniature porcelain shoes.&nbsp; She married Gerald A. Sothers on July 23, 1994, and relocated to Courtland, KS. Her time in Courtland was spent participating in the Courtland Arts Council, Red Hats, various card groups, Methodist Women, Eastern Star 50 yr. member, Courtland Library, and Courtland Pride.&nbsp;March 2010 they became legal guardians of Quinn A. Sothers – great-granddaughter. Quinn was a welcome addition and remained living with them till 2022.&nbsp;Idamay enjoyed music. She played trombone in high school and sang in the choir.&nbsp; She resumed piano lessons after retirement with first teacher Charlotte Seybold. Later, weekly private lessons were given by Pam McGregor which brought her much joy as she came to her home as a teacher and dear friend. Norma Jean 'Jeanie' Bellerive

Almita Marie Augustine, 91, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023. She was born on March 23, 1932, in Antonino, Kansas, to Philip and Mary (Herrman) Dreher.

She married Theodore Augustine on April 8, 1953, in Ellis, Kansas and together they owned and operated Ted Augustine Furniture west of Salina for many years. She was an active member of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in Salina, and after her retirement in 2002, she was a volunteer at Salina Regional Health Center.

Almita worked alongside her husband, Ted, and son, Dale, and daughter-in-law, Carol, and became a successful small business owner and investor. She loved to travel with family and friends and her favorite trips included gambling in Las Vegas with her sister, Thelma, and brother-in-law, Gene and going to Mardi Gras in New Orleans with her sister, Alice and the Orth family as well as going on numerous family vacations. She loved to travel abroad and acquired a famous collection of plates that showcased her journey. She loved to play cards with friends and played regularly up until the last month of her life. Almita loved to cook for family holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Each holiday had a traditional feast and highlighted a focus on family. Christmas eve at Grandma’s was a cherished tradition as were Easter egg hunts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Another family tradition was going out to eat after church on Sundays. Almita was committed to her faith and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; son, Dale; brothers, C.J. and Julius; and sisters, Dorothy Schmidt, Alice Orth, Thelma Karlin, and Darlene Leiker.

Survivors include her children, her daughter-in-law, Carol Augustine; Donna Augustine-Shaw (Mike); and Mark Augustine (Becky); grandchildren, Craig Augustine (Melissa), Jason Augustine (Jami), Cindy Wegerer (Matt), Quentin Shaw (Natalie), Kameron Shaw, Licia Shaw, Kate Augustine (Josh Tait), Rachel Tacha (Evan), Ted Augustine (Colleen), and Audrey Augustine; and great-grandchildren, Alexys, Adley, Abigail, Drake, Cali, Gunner, Isabella, Frances, Augustine, Aiden, and Jayson.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with family present beginning at 5 p.m., and a rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina, with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

Doris Ann Langdon, age 75, passed away on May 24, 2023, at her home in Leoti, Kansas. She was born on April 27, 1948, in Colby, Kansas to Richard Dean and Marita Faye Heaton Mays; just minutes after her twin brother kicked her out first. 

She was a member of the community since 1982, having been raised in Atwood and various places around the country. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the community Thrift shop board, and the Quilt Guild. In addition to taking care of her home, she worked in the community in various places.

On November 26, 1982, she married Eugene Frank Langdon at the first Presbyterian church in Leoti, Kansas. They met at a minor league baseball practice. He survives.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband, her brothers Rod and Karen Mays of Leoti, Kansas, Pat and Valerie Mays of Foyil, Oklahoma, Roland Mays of Green, Kansas, her sisters Mary Rose Atchley of Branson, Missouri, Barbara June Lovett of Leoti, Kansas, sister-in-law Joyce and Chuck Bohme of Goodland, Kansas, brother-in-law Troy and Brenda Langdon of Osborn, Kansas, sister-in-law Lavetta Langdon of Akron, Nebraska, daughters Sara Pitzer, Sheryl and Greg Martinez of Leoti,&nbsp; D.J. and Travis Seaton of Leoti, Kansas, sons Edward Langdon of Temple, Texas, Sam and Darcy Langdon of Leoti, Kansas, twenty-one grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren, though she was mom to many more she loved and claimed as her own.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Anita, three brothers, Darryl, John, and Dick, brother-in-law Larry, son Frank, two grandsons Jesse and Greg, and sister-in-law Linda.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Covenant Church in Leoti, Kansas with Pastor Stephen Moorfield presiding. Burial will follow at the Leoti Cemetery.

I, Charles LeRoy “Chuck” Wright born February 19, 1925, to Jesse LeRoy Wright and Eliza Ann “Figgins” Wright, in Cawker City, Kansas, Mitchell County. I started school in 1931. I graduated in 1939. I graduated high school in 1943. There were 10 in my class, four girls, and six boys. 

I joined the Navy, Friday 13, 1943. I went to boot camp at Farragut, Idaho, Camp Ward 603-43. I then went to Astoria, Oregon to commission a ship. The USS Fanshaw Bay Cueto, a carrier vessel escort. We were sent to Townville and Brisbane, Australia, with a load of P-38 AirCraft. All were non-flyable in crates. We crossed the International Date Line, February 19, 1945, on my 20th birthday. I spent two and a half years in the South Pacific. I received five Battle Stars, and two Presidential Unit Citations. I was at Leyte Gulf in the Philippine Islands, October 26, 1945 at the world’s greatest sea battle. I was honorably discharged in 1946. We decommissioned our ship.

When we got home, I worked for Richardson’s as a welder. Later I worked for The Farmers Union Store as a meat cutter. Later I moved to Mankato, Kansas. I worked at Dibbles Grocery as a meatcutter. 

In late 1948, I re-enlisted in the Navy at Glenview Naval Air Station. In 1950 I volunteered for oversea duty on the USS Valley Forge CV45, around Korea. My brother Darrell L. Wright was also in the area on the Carrier USS Boxer XV21. I was honorably discharged in 1951. 

I went back to Cawker City and went to work for Barnett Upholstery. In 1952 I went to work for the federal government's Department of Interior, the Department of Reclamation, working on the survey team for the Dam. Then worked in the lab for seven years. There, in 1953, I met a young lady by the name of Jackie Louise Wilson, a telephone operator. My folks stood up with us.

 We were living in Superior, Nebraska. This was the start of our travels to Lovewell Dam to Foss Dam in Oklahoma, to Farwell Canals in Nebraska. Then on to Texas and a dam on the Canadian River, Lake Meredith, Sanford, Texas. Then on July 4, 1965, we left Texas for California to the Tehama Colusa Canals. In 1969 we went to Short Cut Pipeline for 18 months, then back to the canals in northern California until I retired in 1980. 

We sold our mobile home and moved back to Kansas and bought my wife’s folks’ home in 1982. During the summers I helped my brother-in-law, driving a wheat truck.

I did enjoy stamp collecting and coin collecting. Jackie and I also enjoyed metal detecting in our spare time.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, Darrell.

I started school in 1931. I graduated in 1939. I graduated high school in 1943. There were 10 in my class, four girls, and six boys. I joined the Navy, Friday 13, 1943. I went to boot camp at Farragut, Idaho, Camp Ward 603-43. I then went to Astoria, Oregon to commission a ship. The USS Fanshaw Bay Cueto, a carrier vessel escort. We were sent to Townville and Brisbane, Australia, with a load of P-38 AirCraft. All were non-flyable in crates. We crossed the International Date Line, February 19, 1945, on my 20th birthday. I spent two and a half years in the South Pacific. I received five Battle Stars, and two Presidential Unit Citations. I was at Leyte Gulf in the Philippine Islands, October 26, 1945 at the world’s greatest sea battle. I was honorably discharged in 1946. We decommissioned our ship.When we got home, I worked for Richardson’s as a welder. Later I worked for The Farmers Union Store as a meat cutter. Later I moved to Mankato, Kansas. I worked at Dibbles Grocery as a meatcutter. In late 1948, I re-enlisted in the Navy at Glenview Naval Air Station. In 1950 I volunteered for oversea duty on the USS Valley Forge CV45, around Korea. My brother Darrell L. Wright was also in the area on the Carrier USS Boxer XV21. I was honorably discharged in 1951. I went back to Cawker City and went to work for Barnett Upholstery. In 1952 I went to work for the federal government's Department of Interior, the Department of Reclamation, working on the survey team for the Dam. Then worked in the lab for seven years. There, in 1953, I met a young lady by the name of Jackie Louise Wilson, a telephone operator. My folks stood up with us. We were living in Superior, Nebraska. This was the start of our travels to Lovewell Dam to Foss Dam in Oklahoma, to Farwell Canals in Nebraska. Then on to Texas and a dam on the Canadian River, Lake Meredith, Sanford, Texas. Then on July 4, 1965, we left Texas for California to the Tehama Colusa Canals. In 1969 we went to Short Cut Pipeline for 18 months, then back to the canals in northern California until I retired in 1980. We sold our mobile home and moved back to Kansas and bought my wife’s folks’ home in 1982. During the summers I helped my brother-in-law, driving a wheat truck.I did enjoy stamp collecting and coin collecting. Jackie and I also enjoyed metal detecting in our spare time.Charles was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, Darrell. Opal VanDonge, age 91, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 at Sierra Hills Assisted Living Facility in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Opal was born July 14, 1931 to William and Nannie (Dankenbring) Bahe in Republic County, Kansas.&nbsp;

She grew up and went to school in Bruning, Nebraska until her sophomore year, at that time they moved to Goodland, Kansas.&nbsp; Opal graduated from Sherman Community High School in 1949. 

Opal married Donald Lee VanDonge in 1950 in Goodland to this union 3 daughters Cheryl, Debra, and Jana. Opal worked for R.K. Driver O.D. in Goodland as an optometrist assistant and secretary for 38 years; she retired in 2004.&nbsp;

Opal was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Goodland; she was involved in many aspects of the church for many years.&nbsp; She enjoyed playing pinochle, bridge, canasta, ceramics, baking cinnamon rolls and peach pies, working in her yard and most of all spending time with her family and friends.&nbsp; In her later years Opal really enjoyed playing bingo with her friends at Sierra Hills in Cheyenne. Preceding her in death are her parents William and Nannie Bahe; sister Denelda and brother-in-law Chuck Tyrell; brother Loren and sister-in-law Tamera Bahe. Opal is survived by her daughters Debra (Michael) Janicek of Cheyenne, WY, Jana Carpenter of Casper, WY, and Cheryl Hedge; brother Wilmer (Peggy) Bahe of McCook, NE; grandchildren Justin, Jade, Joshua (Chelsey) Carpenter, Jamie (Ty) Jenkins; great-grandchildren Brileigh Carpenter, Archer, Otto, Jett Carpenter, Mak Jenkins; and many more family and friends. &nbsp;“Art” Arthur Fief, 78, died Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born January 21, 1945, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of James and Irene (Urban) Fief. Art lived most of his life in Garden City, Kansas where he attended Garden City schools. He lived in Fresno, California where he worked as owner of Fief Construction. In Garden City, Art owned Fief Auto Body and later worked for 25 years at Cornerstone Church. He enjoyed spending his time working on cars, woodworking, and loved traveling to Branson, Missouri. On January 21, 1977, he married Jan Hornbaker in Sun Valley, Nevada. She survives. Other survivors include five children, Shawn and wife Dena Fief of Olathe, Kansas, Missy Fief of Garden City, Kansas, Mark and wife Kaye Fief of Fort Worth, Texas, April and husband Tim Miller of Scott City, Kansas, and Cody and wife Brianna Fief of Garden City, Kansas; brothers Larry and wife Kyra Fief, and Gary and wife Barbara Fief; sisters Terri Scher, Darlene Nelson, and Joan Wasinger; 11 grandchildren, Marshall, Maddie, and Raegan Fief of Olathe, Kansas, Patrick, Mya, and Kiara Fief of Fort Worth, Texas, Austin and Aiden Miller of Scott City, Kansas, Jordan Miller of Parsons, Kansas, Jacque Griffen of Garden City, Kansas, and Dusty Fief; and several great-grandchildren. Myrla Claire Keenan, 89, passed away May 23, 2023, at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. She was born December 12, 1933, in Seward to Harry and Edna (Grow) Walter. 

She married Michael James Keenan September 16, 1951, in Great Bend. He died June 6, 2012.&nbsp;

A long time area resident, Myrla was a real estate agent for over 40 years and had earned top sales in Kansas for three years. Also having a zest for real estate, she and Mike had remodeled over 50 homes in the Great Bend area. &nbsp;

Myrla was a member of First Christian Church and was instrumental in the development of the Great Bend Cemetery Rose Garden. She also enjoyed genealogy, ceramics and was an avid walker.&nbsp;

Survivors include two sons, Evan Keenan and wife Nicki of Houston, Texas, and Kent Keenan and wife Roxann of Great Bend; daughter Valerie Hardy and husband Mark of Sherman, Texas; sister Delora Wiles Baldwin and husband Marvin of Great Bend; nine grandchildren, Cory Keenan, Megan Keenan, Morgan Wagner (Daniel), Kristin Garvin (Chris), Brooke Corbin (Greg), Austin Hardy (Sarah), Ryan Hardy (Macy), Andrew Keenan (Amber) and Adam Keenan (Sabrina); and fifteen great-grandchildren, Nova Keenan, Landon, Dylan and Lawson Wagner, Luke Garvin, Keifer, Tristin and Keeli Corbin, Kenli Hardy, Aleia and Kaden Wheeler, Alison Hardy and Kyler, Aria and Ezra Keenan. DeWayne R. Herrs, 82, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.&nbsp; 

DeWayne was a retired barber, former owner of Headquarters Hair Care in McPherson.

DeWayne was born on October 27, 1940, in Linn, Kansas, the son of Marvin and Clara (Ohlde) Herrs.&nbsp; 

He graduated from Linn High School in 1958 and from Wichita Barber School.&nbsp; 

On May 9, 1970, DeWayne was united in marriage to Roberta “Bertie” R. Gutsch in McPherson.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children, Ryan, Timothy and Elizabeth.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Master Gardeners &amp; Friends.&nbsp; He was also a board member of Disability Supports and former McPherson High School Booster Club president.&nbsp;

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Roberta “Bertie” of the home; three children, Ryan Herrs (Kelly Lyman) of Wichita, KS, Timothy Herrs of Derby, KS, and Elizabeth Herrs of McPherson, KS; brother Rodney Herrs (Karen) of Tonganoxie, KS; two grandchildren, Jacob Herrs and Benjamin Herrs; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rebecca Meyer (Craig) of Liberty, MO, Robin Chapman (Kenny) of Gallatin, TN, and Rita Martin (Tod) of Casper, WY; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Clara Herrs; siblings Harvey Herrs, Ralph Herrs, and Steve Herrs; parents-in-law Robert &amp; Rosie Gutsch; and sisters-in-law LaDean Herrs and Eunice Herrs.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 26, at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Herrs, 82, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.&nbsp; DeWayne was a retired barber, former owner of Headquarters Hair Care in McPherson.DeWayne was born on October 27, 1940, in Linn, Kansas, the son of Marvin and Clara (Ohlde) Herrs.&nbsp; He graduated from Linn High School in 1958 and from Wichita Barber School.&nbsp; On May 9, 1970, DeWayne was united in marriage to Roberta “Bertie” R.
