Delma Darlene Calvin, of WaKeeney, Kansas, passed away on June 28, 2023, at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas at the age of 78. She was born on December 25, 1944, to Lenard and Thelma (Roberts) Fairchild in Scott City, Kansas.

Delma grew up on a farm near Russell Springs, Kansas. 

She met Max E. Calvin while attending Russell Springs High School and married him on June 25, 1960. They moved to Haysville, Kansas and she completed her high school education at Campus High School. They were blessed with three sons: Harley, Chris and Paul. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Max and Delma moved to WaKeeney in 1970. She was a full-time mother until she went to work at Boogaart’s Grocery Store where she remained employed for 40 years.

Delma enjoyed bowling, gardening, cooking her world-famous chicken and noodles at holiday meals, canning, and growing flowers. She enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, and loved spending time with her family, especially on holidays.

Delma is survived by her husband, Max of WaKeeney; sons, Harley (Christy) Calvin of Ellis, KS and Chris (Jennifer) Calvin of Hays, KS; sister, Vada Turley of Scott City, KS, Angie Calvin (daughter-in-law) of WaKeeney; six grandchildren, Chelsey (Casey) Woken of Altoona, IA, Kyle (Jenny) Calvin of Wichita, Ashley Calvin of WaKeeney, Trevor (Holly) Calvin of Hays, Alexa and Paula Calvin of WaKeeney, Preston and Zachery Calvin of La Crosse; and four great-grandchildren, Brexlyn Woken, Lincoln and Briar Calvin and Titan Calvin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Paul (daughter-in-law Leslie Redman) Calvin; brother, Darrel Fairchild; and sister, Verla Sanders.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 11 a.m., at the WaKeeney Church of God in WaKeeney, KS. Burial will follow at the WaKeeney City Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the WaKeeney VFW following the burial. Visitation will be on Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Church of God.

June Marie Addison, 71, passed away July 2, 2023, at Diversicare of Larned in Larned, Kansas. She was born on June 30, 1952, at Great Bend, to Edward H. and Anna (Heath) Thackeray.&nbsp;

Recently coming to Larned from Eureka, Kansas, June was the IT specialist for several hospitals in the areas of St. Louis, southern California, and Eureka, Kansas. 

She was a 1970 graduate from Great Bend High School, and enjoyed golf – even getting a hole in one - and bowling during her younger years.&nbsp;

Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Parker of Birmingham, Alabama; a grandson, Nate Parker of Birmingham, Alabama; a nephew, Edward “Ed” (Renee) Mayer of Arkansas City, Kansas; and a great-niece, Tara Lynn (Kenneth) Ellis of Larned, Kansas. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edward Raymond Thackeray; a sister, Shirley A. Rockhill; and a niece, Jari Jo Williams.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Diversicare of Larned, 1114 W. 11th St., Larned, Kansas, with Reverend Kathleen Luke presiding. Judith Ann (Arpin) Bieker went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at her home in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; Judy was 76 years of age.

Judy was born on December 19, 1946, at her home in Damar, Kansas, to Alfred and Marcella (DesMarteau) Arpin.&nbsp;

 In Damar, she spent a happy childhood as one of five siblings and she graduated from Damar High School.

Judy graduated from cosmetology school in Hays and then met the love her life, Bill Bieker.&nbsp; On February 3, 1968, they wed in Hays and began their 54 years of marriage until Bill’s death on October 18, 2022.&nbsp; During their marriage, Judy and Bill grew their family to include Scott, Brian, and Danelle.&nbsp; 

For many years, Judy used her talents as a hair stylist and later worked at a local dental office.&nbsp; She cheerfully dropped whatever she was doing to give haircuts at home if a family member or friend needed one.

Judy and Bill savored their time at home together and were a couple who truly enjoyed working side by side on home improvement.&nbsp; While Judy claimed to be unable to keep a houseplant, she had no trouble sustaining a beautiful vegetable garden.&nbsp;

 However, what family and friends will remember Judy for the most is her walk with the Lord.&nbsp; She diligently studied the Scriptures and faithfully prayed.&nbsp; She yearned for the day she would be in the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her sons, Scott (Molly) Bieker of Olathe, Brian (Dallas) Bieker of Manhattan, daughter, Danelle Bieker of Hays, a sister, Renee (Tony) Marcotte of Damar, her grandchildren, Adrienne Bieker of Shawnee, Alexis Bieker (Gabe) Fletcher of Manhattan, Cole Bieker of Manhattan, Macy Bieker of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Justin and Abbie Bieker of Hays, and great-grandchildren, Ellis Fletcher of Manhattan and Jaxton Bieker of Hays.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at WaKeeney Church of God, 1300 Easter Ave., WaKeeney, Kansas.&nbsp; Inurnment for the immediate family will follow in Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery.&nbsp;

Ronald "Ron" J. Lang, 86, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023. Ron was born July 3, 1937, in Long Prairie, MN but was raised in Ellis, KS. 

He graduated from Ellis High School in 1955 and joined the United States Navy serving four years active duty. Ron’s work career spanned many occupations including police officer, truck driver and school custodian. 

Ron is known by his family and friends as a talented gunsmith, gifted woodworker, struggling fisherman, skilled marksman and avid hunter. He was a jack-of-all trades and a perfectionist. Ron was a jokester (spit wads through a hidden straw at supper was one of his favorite pranks), and he loved traveling, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. The last two years of his life were limited by his health challenges, and the family wants to thank his many caregivers.

Ron is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patricia R. Lang; daughters, Kathy (Tim) Pfannenstiel, Brenda (Rusty) Hellyer and Karla (Jim) Wildeman; son, Terrence (Diane) Lang; grandchildren, Kim (Jeremy) Dawson, Travis (Chrissy Bowser) Pfannenstiel, Russell (Sunni) Hellyer, Jennifer (Juan) Vargas, Reilly Hellyer, Jordan (Branden) Gabel, Shania Lang, Matt Jarvis, Jennifer (Will) Keesee, Jeff (Emily) Jarvis and Carter Wildeman; 17 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Allen (Mary) Ruder; sisters-in-law, Darlene Werth, Marge Ruder, Carmen Ruder, Rosemary Schoenberger and Frances Schoenberger; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Judy A. Huffman, 78, of Scandia, passed away July 8th.

Judith “Judy” Ann Huffman was born on July 2, 1945, in Belleville, Kansas, to Alva and Bernice (Simmons) Thompson. 

Judy grew up in Scandia, and graduated from Scandia High School, class of 1963.

Judy was united in marriage to Charles D. Huffman on October 21, 1994, in Plattsburg, New York.

After relocating home to Scandia, Judy enjoyed being part of the Red Hats Club, listening to music, and having coffee with the girls at the Scandia Beauty Shop.

Judy passed away on July 8, 2023, at the age of 78, at the Republic Co. Hospital in Belleville.

She is preceded in death by her parents Alva and Bernice, sister-in-law Sue Schmidt, brother-in-law Bob Huffman.

Patricia E. “Pat” Hinson, 85, passed away on July 9, 2023, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born on November 7, 1937, in Glasco, Kansas, to Fenton and Ruth (Grant) Blake. 

On November 23, 1958, she married Gary Hinson in Delphos, Kansas. He survives.

A resident of Great Bend, coming from Concordia, Kansas in 1974, Pat spent her working years as a hairdresser. She was the manager at the salon in JC Penney, later starting her own salon, “Family Affair” before continuing that work at Hair Central. 

Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Great Bend, the dominos club at the Great Bend Senior Center, and served as a Senior Regent for the Women of the Moose in Concordia. She loved the Lord, celebrating birthdays and holidays – especially Christmas, enjoyed her flower garden and bird watching, decorating her porch for holidays, sending cards for all occasions puzzles, crafting, but above all, spending time with her family, particularly with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, being “Grandma” and “GeGe”.

Survivors include her husband of the home; son Greg (Alina) Hinson of Great Bend, Kansas; daughter Tammy Hinson of Great Bend, Kansas; daughter-in-law Michelle Hinson of Great Bend, Kansas; five grandchildren, Samantha Hinson, Natalie (fiancé Taylen Jackson) McAnulla, Tyler (Jessi Ziepfel) Hinson, Janell (Matt) Simmons, Blake Hinson; three great-grandchildren, Kendall Simmons, Abby Hinson, Jude Riggs, with Baby Simmons on the way; a sister, Joyce Fell of Minneapolis, Kansas; half-brother Eddie Blake of Lebanon, Missouri; half-sister Sharon Lavey of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and two foster brothers, Dwight (Helen) Haley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Paul (Barb) Haley of Delphos, Kansas. 

She is preceded in death by son Tony Hinson; her parents; foster parents Dale and Mable Haley; sister Jan Scott; half-brother Melvin Blake; and half-infant sister Debbie Blake.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from noon to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023, with family receiving guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Bever presiding. Inurnment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery.

Glade, KS, Robert C. Fulton, passed away Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 at the Medical Lodges of Wichita, KS. &nbsp;He was 73.

Robert was born May 18, 1950 in Hillsborough, FL the son of Clay and Cecil (Parker) Fulton. &nbsp;

He was united in marriage to Yvonne Pacula on December 15, 1990 in Phillipsburg, KS. &nbsp;She survives.

Other survivors include a son Bobby Fulton, Jr.; daughters Crystal Patterson of Desler, NE, Lisa Chestnut of Enid, OK, and Vanessa of McCook, NE; and six grandchildren.

Cremation was planned. &nbsp;A memorial service will be Friday, July 14, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Church of God, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Becky Saddler officiating. &nbsp;Inurnment will follow in the Marvin Cemetery, Glade, KS.

David Rose was born December 3, 1950 in Smith Center, Ks. &nbsp;His parents were Lyle D. Rose and Fronna L. (King) Rose. &nbsp;

He lived his entire life in Phillipsburg, Ks. &nbsp;He attended Phillipsburg schools through high school and then attended Colby Junior College followed by pursuing a degree in geology at Fort Hays. &nbsp;

He died July 7, 2023 in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 72. &nbsp;

He was predeceased by his parents. &nbsp;

He is survived by sisters Sharon Kellogg and husband Ken of Andover, KS, and Marian Silkman of Hays, KS; five nieces and nephews; and five grandnieces and nephews. &nbsp;

His favorite activity was sports memorabilia and traded sports cards in his adult years. &nbsp;

In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing percussion in the Maverick and rodeo bands in Phillipsburg. &nbsp;The Maverick band would travel around area towns and play concerts and enjoy fellowship. His entire family were active participants in the bands.&nbsp;

Because of an eyesight problem he wasn't able to drive. &nbsp;But took pride in his ability to walk around town. &nbsp;He would typically walk downtown to lunch, then back again for Cokes with friends and then to the movie theater.

Funeral services will be held Saturday July 15 at 10:30 in the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating. &nbsp;The service will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the West Cedar Cemetery, Phillips County.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mr. Rose will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. on Thursday and again on Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.

Tyler graduated from Garden City High School in 1998. He moved to Austin, Texas where he worked in management at a Buckle store. He moved to Wichita to attend cosmetology school. After graduating from there he worked as a hair dresser in Wichita and also at Bite Me BBQ. He moved back to Garden City and worked at Old Navy. He enjoyed skating, softball, writing poetry, cooking, his many shoes and treating friends like family. He participated in comedian contests at the Loony Bin in Wichita. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Caverly and Keith Wallace of Garden City, brother Brandon Rojas of Garden City, four nephews, Corben Davis of Houston, Texas, Timothy Rojas of Atwood and Jorden Rojas and Deago Rojas, both of Garden City, niece Morgan Cabral of Garden City, uncles and aunts including Gilbert Rojas, Oletha Cox, Manual Beltran, Jr. all of Garden City and Gerri Gomez of Great Bend, stepgrandmother&nbsp; Juanita Hall of Wichita, stepbrother Jeff Wallace of Wichita, two stepsisters, Nicole Wallace and Jessica Barrientos, both of Wichita, and sister-in-law Tina Rojas. Robert Allen Grizzle, 65, of Eudora, Kansas, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas.

Robert was born November 2, 1957, in Enid, Oklahoma.&nbsp; He was the son of Leon and Ernestine (Butler) Grizzle.&nbsp; The Grizzle family moved to Russell, Kansas when Robert was young.&nbsp; He grew up and attended schools in Russell.

Robert was united in marriage to Dorothy Sauders on March 5, 1994, in Clearview City, Kansas. Robert was blessed with five children, Kevin, Carrie, Jamie, Rachel and Alan.

Robert was an independent drywaller.&nbsp; He worked in construction most of his life.&nbsp; While living in Eudora he worked for the Eudora High School as a janitor.&nbsp; He attended the Cornerstone Church and was active in the church’s youth programs.&nbsp; When he was younger, he served in the National Guard.&nbsp; He was a car enthusiast.&nbsp; Anything about cars he was interested in.&nbsp; Family was important and he enjoyed the times with his children and grandchildren.

Robert’s surviving family include his wife of 29 years, Dorothy of the home; daughters, Jamie Jones of Eudora, Kansas and Rachel Grizzle of Eudora, Kansas; sons, Kevin Grizzle (Brittinei) of Galena, Missouri and Alan Rhea of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brothers, Phillip Grizzle (Kim) of Russell, Kansas and Richard Grizzle of Hays, Kansas; sisters, Patricia Dillon of Russell, Kansas and Theresa Ehrlich (Ron) of Ellis, Kansas; four grandchildren, Adisyn Grizzle, Landon Lee, Asher Grizzle and Brynna Rhea.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Carrie Grizzle.

Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.&nbsp; Burial of Ashes will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will be present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to service time, Thursday morning at the mortuary.&nbsp;

Robert was blessed with five children, Kevin, Carrie, Jamie, Rachel and Alan.Robert was an independent drywaller.&nbsp; He worked in construction most of his life.&nbsp; While living in Eudora he worked for the Eudora High School as a janitor.&nbsp; He attended the Cornerstone Church and was active in the church’s youth programs.&nbsp; When he was younger, he served in the National Guard.&nbsp; He was a car enthusiast.&nbsp; Anything about cars he was interested in.&nbsp; Family was important and he enjoyed the times with his children and grandchildren.Robert’s surviving family include his wife of 29 years, Dorothy of the home; daughters, Jamie Jones of Eudora, Kansas and Rachel Grizzle of Eudora, Kansas; sons, Kevin Grizzle (Brittinei) of Galena, Missouri and Alan Rhea of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brothers, Phillip Grizzle (Kim) of Russell, Kansas and Richard Grizzle of Hays, Kansas; sisters, Patricia Dillon of Russell, Kansas and Theresa Ehrlich (Ron) of Ellis, Kansas; four grandchildren, Adisyn Grizzle, Landon Lee, Asher Grizzle and Brynna Rhea.Robert was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Carrie Grizzle.Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.&nbsp; Burial of Ashes will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will be present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to service time, Thursday morning at the mortuary.&nbsp; Condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.

She was united in marriage to Mark Studley on October 3, 1980 in Phillipsburg, KS. &nbsp;He survives.

&nbsp; Ethan William Rohr, 18, of Colby, KS, died Saturday, July 8, 2023. He was born March 16, 2005, in Colby, KS. 

Ethan was a 2023 graduate of Colby High School, where he participated in FFA, tennis, powerlifting, played the trumpet in the school band, and later taught himself to play the cornet. Ethan enjoyed carpentry and woodworking and was always working on a project. Some of his more special pieces include a stand for his vinyl record collection and the sign that was displayed at the Colby Event Center when the CHS Pep Band played. Ethan took pride in the meticulous work he did. 

He worked cattle with his Uncle Mike, for Advantage Architectural Woodworking, and later for Orscheln Tractor Supply. 

Ethan was enrolled in Colby Community College where he planned to study sustainable/renewable energy and band; then transfer on to Fort Hays State University to pursue a degree in technical education. After completing his college education Ethan had a dream of pursuing a career in the Marines followed by becoming a high school woodshop teacher. Ethan was a known movie buff. He shared a love of music with his Grandpa Bill and was always assisting his Grandma Lisa with her projects. Ethan enjoyed “treasure hunting” at estate sales, garage sales, and auctions all over Kansas and Colorado with his mother Catherine.

He was a volunteer for Sons of the American Legion with his Uncle Mike and would happily wake up at 5 a.m. to assist with flags. He spent many hours BBQing with his Uncle Nick and was actively remodeling a building on his Uncle Chris’s property to turn it into his own workshop. Often Ethan could be found with his Uncle Geoffrey working on his truck’s stereo system. One of Ethan’s favorite things to do was visit his Uncle Anthony in the KC area where they enjoyed outdoor activities and projects around his house. Ethan also enjoyed shooting trap and going to the range whenever possible. When he was little, Ethan visited his Aunts Kimmie and Abi for trips to the zoo, museums, and just all-around good times. His brothers, Carter and Zakk, will miss his willingness to help them in any way he could. He was teaching Zakk to play the trumpet and to play tennis. Some other activities they enjoyed doing together included building Legos, playing video games, and watching movies. Most importantly, Ethan was a loving, caring, phenomenal soul with a genuine heart who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His family is blessed that he was able to be with them for the last 18 years. Ethan will be remembered for his quiet demeanor, sense of humor, contagious laugh, gracious acts, and kind words for everyone he met. Ethan was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Elmer and Irene Rohr and Thomas Mowry; and cousins Addison, Emori, and Graham Rohr and Peanut Richmeier. Arthur Lee “Art” Wilkens, of Stockton, KS, passed away on July 7, 2023, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, KS, at the age of 87. He was born on April 2, 1936, the third son of Charley and Jessie (Herren) Wilkens at the family farm home in Cheyenne County, KS. 

Art attended Walnut Grove country school through 8th grade, then Regis (a catholic boarding school) in Denver, CO his freshman year of high school. He then went to St. Joseph’s Military Academy in Hays, KS for his sophomore year but graduated from McDonald Rural High in 1953. 

He married Mae Erdman on November 28, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Benkelman, NE. They were blessed with seven children: Chuck, Debra, Kent, Steven, Tony, Brenda, and Lisa.

After finishing school Art farmed north of Parks, NE on school land for a short period of time. He then bought and fed cattle at the Gabe Wilkens homestead. They moved to Benkelman, NE and then Goodland, KS in 1970 to haul sugar beets. Within a couple years he bought a hay grinder and did custom work grinding and hauling alfalfa and corn for farmers and feedlots. Within this business Art became determined to find a better way to haul hay. In his search for a solution, Art met Keith Foster, and the two became good friends. They continued a tremendous relationship through life. Soon he started putting Keith Walking Floors in his trailers. After admiring the work of Art and Keith, Jack Deroo told Art he owed it to himself and the rest of the hay grinding world to make these trailers. In 1985 Art bought an old, abandoned plant at Bloomington (Osborne), KS and renovated it to begin manufacturing trailers from scratch with Keith Walking Floors in them. He stayed at that location until his business expanded and he built a new plant south of Stockton in 1995. He established additional locations in Texas in 1996 and Pennsylvania in 2002. He was an innovator of the walking floor with many patents.

Art loved to fly. He was proud to have over 5,000 hours as pilot in command. He also loved to send his brother and best friend, Jim, to auctions to collect Diamond T Trucks and antique tractors. Art would display his collection in Bird City, KS at the annual Tri-State Antique Threshers Show with great joy.

Art was a driven man who was always moving forward, never letting anything stand in his way. As a straight-forward man, you always knew where you stood. His commitment to his faith, and love and service to his family, friends, and community knew no bounds. Art taught us by his daily example that a dream does not become reality through magic—it takes sweat, determination, hard work, and the help of our Good Lord. He will be remembered in love.

She was a registered nurse at a nursing home in Meade, KS, for several years.&nbsp;

Leiana is survived by her brother Donald Eugene West of Woodland Park, Colorado, stepchildren Cherie (Eric) Pfannenstiel of Munjor, KS; Kris (Krista) Jamison of Hutchinson, KS; Jackie (Elias) Diaz of Farmington, NM, many grandkids; and other family and friends.

James Ashbaugh, 68, of Park, Kansas, passed away on July 9, 2023. James was born in Quinter, KS, on December 24, 1954. He graduated from Wheatland High School and continued on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University.

Jim worked for Jack’s Repair Shop after retiring. 

He enjoyed his numerous house plants, aviation, being an avid UFO follower, riding his Harley with friends, and spending time with his family. Jim enjoyed going to gun and coin shows with friends. He was known for his big heart and didn’t know a stranger. Jim took pride in his family. Jim was planning a trip to Sturgis as a bucket list item this summer with his best friend Joe Waldman, who was like a brother. Jim enjoyed taking family and friends up for quick flights around just for fun and to check crops.

James is survived by John Ashbaugh (Hoxie), Alex Ashbaugh (Hays), Kathy and husband Ramon Cunningham (Schuyler, NE), Joe Ashbaugh (Park), Ron and wife Judy Ashbaugh (Melrose, NM), Diane Ashbaugh (Oakley), Michaell Ashbaugh (Quinter), Manuel Ashbaugh (Jacksonville, FL), and Elizabeth and husband Edmund McDonald (Park), along with many nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Emald and Teresa Ashbaugh, and sisters Veronica Brown, Darlene Ashbaugh, Patricia Meyers, and Dorothy Schwindt, &nbsp;along with other family members.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on July 14, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, KS. Father James will be officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

On Saturday, July 1, 2023, our beloved mother, Vickie Lynn Steinle of Dorrance, KS, age 77, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side after a long hard battle with cancer. She was born on February 23, 1946, to Vernon L. and Edna A. (Schmidt) Dumler in Russell, KS. 

She was united in marriage to Marlyn D. Steinle on May 29, 1965. They made their home in Dorrance, Ks, and were blessed with four sons, Brent, Brian, Todd, and Kendall.

Vickie was a devoted mother/housewife, while her children were young. 

Later in life, she worked for Wilson Rehab Center as a custodian for 20+ years. She retired in housekeeping at the Great Bend Health and Rehab nursing home. After retirement, she went to work for USD 407 as a custodian and continued until her illness no longer allowed her. 

She was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church in Dorrance, Ks, and served on the church council as well as WELCA.

Vickie truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, cooking, chatting with her sisters, working in her yard, and spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Rodney. Vickie always had a smile even on her darkest days; she brought joy to many no matter where she went.

Vickie leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that no one could match.

Neal Scott Panning, 40, passed away July 3, 2023, at his home, rural Great Bend. &nbsp;He was born Oct. 31, 1982, in Great Bend, to Marvin and Debra (Schartz) Panning.

A previous Ellinwood resident currently residing in rural Great Bend, Neal was a graduate of Ellinwood High School. &nbsp;He furthered his education at Wichita State University, majoring in piano. &nbsp;

As a talented musician, Neal was a winner of the Parnassus contest one of the years he competed in annually during high school and later participated in the Wichita State University honor choir. 

Neal was also known to be a skilled cook, being able to make “something” out of “anything.” He was an area restaurant employee for many years, currently working as a waiter at Los Cabos Fajita House, Great Bend. &nbsp;

Neal’s true loves were playing the piano and organ, his dog, Indie, gardening, and time spent with friends.

Neal is survived by his parents, Marvin and Debra Panning and a brother, Ross, all of rural Great Bend. &nbsp;Other survivors include his aunts and uncles Doug and Joan Panning and family, Diane (Schartz) and Dennis Jackson and family, Brian and Sharon Schartz and family, Gary and Kim Schartz and family, and Brenda (Schartz) and Jim Tucker and family. &nbsp;

 </figure>A simple man.Born April 29, 1956, to Elmer and Kathryn (Hacker) Richmeier, Terry was the only brother in a house full of five sisters. He found joy with his dad on the farm by helping out with the cattle or fixing anything that needed attention. When he wasn’t on the farm, you could find him at Holcomb High School (a graduate of ’74) with a ball in his hand playing basketball or football.A simple man.Serving others was one of his life purposes and in 1976, he enlisted in the Marine Corps.&nbsp; Serving his country was his duty, but joining the softball team there allowed him to find his lifetime hobby.&nbsp; For work, Terry did it all – working on the farm, being a cowboy, driving a truck and raising cattle. When he wasn’t working, he found the most peaceful time to be on his boat. Terry was a collector and found beauty and life in all things both old and new. He enjoyed time at the bowling alley, and when at home, his energy was spent on making his yard beautiful. Although a man of few words, anyone who knew Terry knew that he would be quick to offer words of advice or encouragement when needed.A simple man.Terry welcomed his first child, a son. Those who were lucky enough to know both of them would agree the two of them are similar in looks, personality and interests – specifically a love for cattle.A simple man.On July 20, 1982, he married his “pretty woman," Tracey Holloway.&nbsp; Their love of sports deepened their bond as they played on many coed volleyball and softball teams. They traveled and lived in Fort Meyers, Fla., and Garden City before setting roots in Scott City. Together, their love was strengthened after the births of their three daughters. Raising his girls turned Terry into a youth volleyball coach, a strong supporter of Scott City athletics and the best wedding dance partner. With all his daughters involved, it was a balancing act between work and their activities, but he was always, always there.&nbsp;A simple man.Of all the jobs Terry had, being a grandpa brought him the greatest life joy. His nine grandkids knew that mom and dad’s rules didn’t exist when grandpa was around.&nbsp; To see a smile on their face, he would do anything. He was intentional with his time with them. Quick to take them to the lake or park, they knew grandpa time would always be memorable. As his grandkids got older, he continued to balance work with sporting events.&nbsp; He was their loudest cheerleader. In his final days, Terry continued to put his grandkids first – reminding his daughters to continue to be good moms to them. He loved them deeply.A simple man.When flowers bloom, when you find the empty seat in the bleachers, and when you hear the peacefulness of the lake, you will know that Terry’s spirit is living with us forever.Terry is survived by his wife, Tracey (Holloway) Richmeier; a son Shannon (Zandrea) Ardery; three daughters Megan (Brian) Gentry, Morgan Welsh, and Mindi (Sean) Dreiling; as well as nine grandchildren: Kendall, Peyton, Mackenzi, Josslyn, Everleigh, Blakely, Jordyn, Chauncey, and Carter.&nbsp; Terry is also survived by his five sisters Deann (David) Crase, Sherry Nichols, Rebecca Greenwood, Debbie Richmeier and Janet (Richard) Knoll.Terry was preceded in death by his dad Elmer Richmeier, his mom Kathyryn (Hacker) Richmeier and an infant daughter, Brandy.The family would like to welcome friends and loved ones of Terry to a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Friday, July 14 at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, with the Rev.
