Carol Dee Thompson passed away June 17, 2023, at Goodland Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Carol was born February 7, 1944, in Pratt, KS to Bud and Rosalie Alexander of Coats, KS.&nbsp; She grew up on the family farm south of Coats and graduated from Coats High School.&nbsp; 

In 1962 she married Bill Riegel, also of Coats, in Emporia, KS, and later divorced.&nbsp; Carol and Bill had two daughters, Dee Ann and Sheri.&nbsp; She later married Mel Thompson in Omaha, NE.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Bud Alexander and Rosalie Jacobs.&nbsp; 

Her surviving family includes her children Dee Ann (David) Dorn of Goodland, KS, Sheri (Eddie) Harper of Topeka, KS, five grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She is also survived by her sister LeAnn (Dennis) Friedrichs of St. Francis, KS, and her brother Jeff (Sharon) Alexander of Mims, FL.

A private family graveside service will be held on July 15, 2023, at the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, KS.&nbsp; A reception will follow to honor, share memories, and celebrate Carol's life at 11:00 a.m. MT at Dorn Seeds, 6415 Rd. 22, Goodland, KS 67735.

Galyn Wayne Peterson, Stockton, KS, passed away on June 26, 2023, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, KS at the age of 90. He was born on May 24, 1933, in Waterville, KS to Carl and Clara (Minge) Peterson. 

He married Christine Peterson on December 20, 1953, in Waterville. They were blessed with two sons, David Wayne and Gary Lee, and one stillborn daughter.

Galyn grew up in Waterville and graduated from Marysville High School in 1951. While in school he was involved in KAYS, FFA and 4-H. In high school art class, he drew the blueprint for the Lutheran Church in Waterville.

After graduation he owned his own farm and raised cattle and pigs. At night he hauled fat cattle to St. Joseph, MO. He and Christine moved to Stockton in 1955 to be a herdsman for the Schneider Ranch. He later became assistant manager of the Stockton Alfalfa Plant. Several years later in 1969 he started his own business, Peterson Hay Company.

Galyn enjoyed coffee at local coffee shops, his bountiful vegetable gardens, sweetcorn patches, raising cattle, and attending bull sales and local cattle auctions. In his early years he enjoyed bowling on his league team and attending horse races with his friends. He could always be found on a Saturday night with his family enjoying supper at The Red Kitten or VFW in Stockton. He loved teaching his grandkids about caring for the land and livestock by showing them the ropes from feeding 150 head of baby Holstein calves and selling produce from the gardens, to running the hay equipment in the fields.

Galyn is survived by his sons, David (Vicky) Peterson and Gary Peterson, both of Stockton; four grandchildren, D.J. (Gloria) Peterson, Andy (Chelsey) Peterson, Gayla (Justin) Whitney, and Myles (Carrie) Peterson; and six great-grandchildren, Emery, Finley, Ryker, Ainsley, Calia, and Kendra.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Clara Peterson; wife, Christine; and brother Millard Peterson.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Stockton United Methodist Church in Stockton, KS. Burial will follow in the Stockton City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton.

Joan Elizabeth Bates, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on June 24, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, at the age of 71. She was born on May 23, 1952, in Damar, Kansas, to Fredrick Edward and Bertha Blanche (Meanard) Knipp. 

She grew up in Damar and graduated from Damar High School in 1970. 

On May 14, 1977, she married Linden Duwana Bates at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar.

Joan ran a daycare for many years. The kids were such a joy to her, and she treated them like her own. She watched them until she took her last step. She always put others before herself. Even after a long day she would still make sure her family was taken care of. 

She enjoyed being in the kitchen, cooking and baking; her cinnamon rolls were the best. She couldn’t take her eyes away even for a second because her daughters would always mess up the dough! 

In the evening she loved playing on her tablet; Cookie Jam and Candy Crush games were her favorite. She also loved to search Pinterest for new things to cook, and ideas to decorate and renovate the house. 

She enjoyed watching sports - especially her grandkids’ events, and Friday nights playing bingo with her sisters, laughing and joking around. She was very sociable and loved to talk to other people. She loved her bed fully loaded with pillows and blankets to keep her warm, and she loved her husband, her kids, and her grandkids more than words can describe.

Joan is survived by her husband, Linden Bates of Wichita; children Jolynn Bates of Wichita, Gale Bates of Enid, OK, Adam Bates of Wichita, Stacey Bates (Jeremy Irwin) of Wichita, and Melanie Bates (Foued Hafsouni) of Wichita; brothers Donald Knipp, Stanley Knipp, Cletus Knipp, Marty Knipp, Dale Knipp, Larry Knipp, and Mitchell Knipp; sisters Christine Winterburg and Paulette Mays; and five grandchildren, Gabrielle Bates, Malik Hafsouni, Beyonca Irwin, Ameer Hafsouni and Kaiser Hafsouni.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fredrick and Bertha Knipp; brothers Dennis Knipp, Gale Knipp, Christopher Knipp, and Paul Knipp; and sisters, Charlotte Knipp and Charlene Knipp.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Damar. Visitation will be on Friday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Plainville.

Carol A. Seaman, 64, of Topeka, passed away June 4th, 2023.

Carol Annetta Seaman was born on July 24, 1958, in Belleville, Kansas, to Anthony A. and Alica A. (Runft) Seamn. She passed away at her home in Topeka, Kansas, on June 4, 2023, at the age of 64 years, 10 months, and 11 days.

Carol attended school in Belleville, graduating from Belleville High School. She then went on to attend Emporia State University. 

Following college, Carol started working for AT&amp;T in Kansas City, before transferring to AT&amp;T in Georgia.

Later, Carol returned home to Belleville for a brief period before she moved to Topeka, where she began working for the state of Kansas, where she was employed for over 16 years.

In her free time, Carol enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and spending time with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Alice. S

he is survived by her brother Thomas Seaman and his significant other Vickie Hoffee of Fairfield, Illinois, many cousins and extended family, and friends.

Graveside memorial services will be Friday, June 30th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at the Belleville City Cemetery, with Pastor Craig Roberts officiating. Following the services, the family will greet friends at a reception and the First Baptist Church in Belleville.

She was born September 18, 1942, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Randall “Tony” and Winifred “Winnie” (Shyrer) Chambers. &nbsp;Gwenda was a 1960 graduate of Hoisington High School. She went on to graduate from beauty school in Wichita, Kansas. &nbsp;

On May 29, 1961, she married Jerry D. Deines, in Hoisington; they later divorced.

Gwenda worked as a ward clerk for Clara Barton Hospital for many years, officially retiring in 2012, but, unofficially, continued to work whenever they needed her. Her love of reading then led her to a position at the Hoisington Public Library, which she greatly enjoyed. &nbsp;She was an avid crafter, and enjoyed creating all sorts of things, especially her handmade greeting cards, which she liked sending to family and friends.

She was a current member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington, and was a past board member and served on the altar guild. &nbsp;She was former member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Hoisington, where she had taught Midweek School and VBS. &nbsp;In her earlier years, she was active in the 21st Century EHU and several bowling leagues in both Hoisington and Great Bend. &nbsp;She loved attending Hoisington Cardinal sporting events as well as watching Kansas Jayhawks basketball.

She is survived by her daughters Lisa Stambaugh and husband Jerry, and Laura Deines, all of Hoisington; brother Mike Chambers of Hoisington; brother-in-law, Jim Adams of Hoisington; three grandchildren, Macy Reinert and husband Logan of Great Bend, Nash Stambaugh of Lawrence, and Jessica Mullens and husband Trey of Aledo, Texas; four-great grandchildren, Tess, London, Nolan, and Landry Mullens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Gloria Adams, and sister-in-law, Alyce Chambers.

Visitation will be 1 to 7 p.m., Sunday, with family to greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 3, 2023, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with Rhonda Templing SAM presiding. &nbsp;Burial will follow in Hoisington City Cemetery.&nbsp;

Larned – Kenneth “Red” Leroy Langley, 97, passed away June 26, 2023, at Country Living Home Plus, Larned, Kansas.

He was born September 1, 1925, at Admire, Kansas, the son of Alvin Leroy and Blanche Evelyn (Hoaglund) Langley.

He moved to Larned in 1964 and was of the Christian faith. He was a partner of L and M Construction with Ed Mauler and built bridges. He enjoyed life, telling stories, visiting with people, traveling, playing golf and was an excellent card player.

On February 22, 1948, he married Doris Gertrude Brumitt in Hays, Kansas; she preceded him in death on January 7, 2002.

Survivors include daughter, Candace (Stephen) Dolan, Great Bend, Kansas; son, Floyd Guernsey, Enid, Oklahoma; nephew, Randy Brickley, Coral Springs, Florida; four grandchildren, Christopher Dolan, Zachary Dolan, Roxanne Guernsey, and Floyd Guernsey, Jr. and one great-grandchild Joseph Guernsey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Doris Langley; longtime companion, Carol Gross; sister Dorree Brickley; niece Rhonda Moyer and great-nephew Todd Moyer.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Chaplain Guy Hanna presiding. &nbsp;Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5th , with family present from 5 – 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.

Deloris was born to Henry and Edith (Hetzel) Ziegler in Trego Co., KS, on November 15, 1935. At the age of three the family moved from Collyer, KS to Grainfield, KS. &nbsp; &nbsp;Deloris attended Grainfield Grade School and graduated from Grainfield High School in 1954. &nbsp;She then attended St. Anthony’s School of nursing in Hays, KS, where she received her R.N. degree. 

Deloris practiced nursing for 47 years and retired in 2004.

On October 12, 1957 Deloris married Harry Wasinger at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Grainfield, KS. They shared 57 years of marriage; they lived in Hays and Manhattan KS, until 1960 when they moved to California. Harry passed away on December 8, 2014. They were blessed with three daughters, Brenda, Cindy and Pam. &nbsp;

Deloris’ hobbies included painting pictures, working outside in her yard, taking care of her many orchid plants and attending her grandchildren events. &nbsp;

Deloris is survived by her three daughters: Brenda and Ken Hammerton of Germantown, TN, Cindy and Gary Peck of Seal Beach, CA, and Pam and Tracy Taylor of Orange, CA; eight grandchildren: Jessica (David) Sawyers, Andrea (Jim) Rusiewski, Jackie (Nacho) Balbontin, David (Samantha) Hammerton, Lindsay (Adam) Gage, Melissa (Eric) Dow, Allison (Ryan) Carroll, Justin (Dana) Taylor; and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters&nbsp; Norma (Alex) Zerr of Grainfield, KS and Louise (Harvey) Wildeman of Quinter, KS.

Coy Duaine “Dewey” Christy, 91, passed away on June 25, 2023 in Lenora, KS. He was born on Sept. 16, 1931 in Denver, CO to Ray and Beulah (Stuchlik) Christy.

Dewey had fond memories of being at his grandparents’ farm in Strasburg, Colorado growing up. He was a hard worker as a young boy in Denver and had a paper route. 

He attended high school in Denver, before enlisting in the US Navy from Jan. 8, 1951 to Nov. 1, 1954, serving on the USS Essex CVS-9. 

He worked in Denver for Gates Rubber Company for many years and then moved to Kansas to help his aunt on her farm and ended up making Kansas his home. He retired from farming in 2009. 

He married Lila D. Christy in January of 1995;hey later divorced.

He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his cousins, friends, and neighbors. Graveside services will be held in Edmond Cemetery on July 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.AM with military honors.

Joyce Irene (Anschutz) Cobb-Barker, 87, of McPherson, Kansas and formerly of Russell, Kansas passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Joyce was born March 19, 1936 in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was the daughter of Louis and Vivian (Thielen) Anschutz.&nbsp; 

She grew up in Dorrance, Kansas and graduated from Dorrance High School in the Class of 54.

Joyce was united in marriage to Denis Cobb on September 4, 1954 in Russell.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children; Mitchell, Curtis and Laura.&nbsp; They made their home in Russell.&nbsp; Denis preceded her in death on June 4, 1994.&nbsp; Later Joyce was united in marriage to Charles Barker in June of 1997 in Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; Charles preceded her in death in March of 2019.

Joyce was a devoted wife and homemaker for her children.&nbsp; She also worked at the Russell State Bank, later known as UMB Bank, for over 22 years before retiring.&nbsp; When she was younger and helping Denis with the harvest crews, she would cook their meals and deliver them to the fields from Temple, Oklahoma to Lemmon, South Dakota.&nbsp; 

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Russell.&nbsp; In her spare time, she enjoyed painting with acrylics and oils, and sewing.

Joyce’s surviving family include her son, Mitchell Cobb and companion Bev Hartsook of Russell, Kansas; daughter, Laura Hrabe and husband Shane of McPherson, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Ava Bustad of Stanwood, Washington; brother, Norman Anschutz (Barbara) of Russell, Kansas; sisters, Ellen Spaulding (Mark) of Andover, Kansas and Eileen Keenan (Dennis) of Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren, Michelle Hayes, Justin Cobb, Kellie Steinle, Lindsay Abrahams and Matt Hrabe; and five great-grandchildren, Adalynne Hayes, Kyle Steinle, Claytin Steinle, Jase Abrahams and Ellis Abrahams; and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Denis Cobb and Charles Barker; and son, Curtis Cobb.

Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell.&nbsp; Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.&nbsp; A vigil and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Mortuary.&nbsp; 

A memorial has been established with St. Mary’s Catholic Church.&nbsp;

 </figure><a href="https://www.pvpmortuary.com/joyce-cobb-barker/">https://www.pvpmortuary.com/joyce-cobb-barker/</a>Joyce Irene (Anschutz) Cobb-Barker, 87, of McPherson, Kansas and formerly of Russell, Kansas passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.Joyce was born March 19, 1936 in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was the daughter of Louis and Vivian (Thielen) Anschutz.&nbsp; She grew up in Dorrance, Kansas and graduated from Dorrance High School in the Class of 54.Joyce was united in marriage to Denis Cobb on September 4, 1954 in Russell.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children; Mitchell, Curtis and Laura.&nbsp; They made their home in Russell.&nbsp; Denis preceded her in death on June 4, 1994.&nbsp; Later Joyce was united in marriage to Charles Barker in June of 1997 in Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; Charles preceded her in death in March of 2019.Joyce was a devoted wife and homemaker for her children.&nbsp; She also worked at the Russell State Bank, later known as UMB Bank, for over 22 years before retiring.&nbsp; When she was younger and helping Denis with the harvest crews, she would cook their meals and deliver them to the fields from Temple, Oklahoma to Lemmon, South Dakota.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Russell.&nbsp; In her spare time, she enjoyed painting with acrylics and oils, and sewing.Joyce’s surviving family include her son, Mitchell Cobb and companion Bev Hartsook of Russell, Kansas; daughter, Laura Hrabe and husband Shane of McPherson, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Ava Bustad of Stanwood, Washington; brother, Norman Anschutz (Barbara) of Russell, Kansas; sisters, Ellen Spaulding (Mark) of Andover, Kansas and Eileen Keenan (Dennis) of Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren, Michelle Hayes, Justin Cobb, Kellie Steinle, Lindsay Abrahams and Matt Hrabe; and five great-grandchildren, Adalynne Hayes, Kyle Steinle, Claytin Steinle, Jase Abrahams and Ellis Abrahams; and many nieces and nephews.Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Denis Cobb and Charles Barker; and son, Curtis Cobb.Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell.&nbsp; Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.&nbsp; A vigil and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Mortuary.&nbsp; A memorial has been established with St. Mary’s Catholic Church.&nbsp; Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.

Jessie Willodean Plymell, 96, Hays, died Monday, June 26, 2023 at Via Christi Village of Hays.

She was born April 4, 1927 in McFall, Missouri the daughter of Durward Basil and Frances Mildred (Duerson) Royston.&nbsp; 

On December 23, 1944 she was united in marriage to Harold A. Plymell in Troy, Kansas, and they celebrated their 78th anniversary last year. &nbsp;

Willodean graduated from Pattonsburg High School in Pattonsburg, Missouri in 1945.&nbsp; In 1949, Harold and Willodean and their son, Larry moved to the Sheldon, Missouri area to farm.&nbsp; Shirley, Ron, and Dean were all born in Lamar, Missouri.&nbsp; In 1964, the family began custom harvesting, which they did before moving to Scott City, Kansas in 1967.

Harold and Willodean moved to Hays, Kansas in 1974.&nbsp; They continued the custom harvesting until 1977.&nbsp; In 1978, they began over-the-road trucking with their own semi.&nbsp; They were both drivers until they retired in 1990.&nbsp; They enjoyed seeing the country during their many years of trucking, and Willodean was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hays.

Survivors include her husband Harold of Hays, children Larry and Darlene Plymell of Hays, Shirley and Ron Suppes of Dighton, Kansas, Ron and Carol Plymell of Assaria, Kansas, and Dean and Bonnie Plymell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a sister, Carolyn Gordon of Nevada, Missouri, eight grandchildren, Molly Legleiter (Shawn) of Hays, Shandi Westergard (Chris) of Scott City,&nbsp; Sherry Kinderknecht (Norman) of Colby, Courtney Britton of Colby, Shayne Suppes (Amanda Ruth) of Scott City, Rusty Plymell (Christina) of Lakewood, CO, Jeremy Plymell (Shannon) of Independence, and Aaron Plymell (Diana) of Park City, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Willodean’s life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine Street.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow in Mt. Allen Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Robert “Bob” Lowell Hall, Jr., 74, passed away June 26, 2023, at his home in Ellinwood. He was born March 11, 1949, in Perryton, Tex. to Robert Lowell Hall, Sr. and Jacqueline (Kalber) Hall. 

A resident of Ellinwood since 2006, Bob worked for Northern Natural Gas Company, which later became ENRON, for 29 ½ years. He then became an over-the-road truck driver for various companies, eventually retiring from Van Wyke in 2011. 

&nbsp;Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, working on cars whether it was mechanical or restorative and was an avid car collector.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Hall of the home; a son, Gerald Hall (Patrick Christensen) of Wichita; a son-in-law, Daniel Walker (Melissa) of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sisters, Linda J. Hall and Margaret A. Hall both of Dallas, Tex.; four grandchildren, Kyle, Jackie and Kelley Walker, and Aubreanna Christensen; and a nephew, William Hall. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert H. Hall; and a daughter, Sonya Walker.&nbsp;

There will be no visitation or services at this time per Bob’s request.

He was born January 22, 1934 in Rozel, KS, the son of John and Edith G. Tryon Spreier. &nbsp;A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer/stockman.

He was a past county commissioner and served in the United States Army.

On November 26, 1955, he married Donna K. Rhoades in Dodge City. She passed away August 13, 2019.

Other survivors include three daughters, Shelvie (Alfonso) Batres, Alexandria, VA, Kyleen Stimpert, Dodge City, KS, Lanese (Todd) Wherry, Lenexa, KS; one sister, Wanda Henry, Dodge City; six grandchildren, Chad Lampe, Megan Schartz, Ashton Wherry, Christian Stimpert, Alyssa Wherry, Andrew Wherry and five great-grandchildren, Alyjah Maciel, Austin Maciel, Brynlee Stimpert, Jhettson Stimpert and Desmond Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gilbert Spreier and a sister, Bonnie Horacek.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, with Carolyn Tarman presiding. Eddie owned and operated Eddie’s Service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed drag racing and he was a member of the NHRA. 

 He married Barbara Bieber on May 19, 1973, in Norton, Kansas.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wassinger of Ness City; two sons, Darin Wassinger of Shawnee, Kevin (Andrea) Wassinger of Topeka; two daughters, Suzann (Lance) Pfeifer of Firestone, CO, Meghan Rupp of Ness City; brother Terry Wassinger of Ness City; three sisters, Sandy (Larry) Barricklow of Sarasota, FL, Sherry Frick of Oakley, Tammi (Craig) Foos of Bazine; and seven grandchildren.

Judith Pearl is dancing!&nbsp; On June 18, 2023, Mom joined our Dad, Jim, for an eternal dance.&nbsp; The first time they “cut the rug” is unknown, but the story is told that a boyfriend of Judie had joined the service only to return to find that Jim had “cut in” and claimed the dance.&nbsp; Mom’s parents, Raymond and Sallie Stover would be able to tell a few stories regarding Judie, her siblings (Smokey, JoJo, and John), her childhood friends, and the crazy stunts they would pull.&nbsp; Jim and Judie’s wedding dance started on 11/29/1959, and you could bet they would jitter, swing or slow dance wherever the opportunity allowed.&nbsp;

Their dance would move to the ranch north of Sharon Springs in the early 1960s as they swayed to the tune of Tammy, Connie, Matthew, and Sallie.&nbsp; The family, cattle and farm life brought out the best in Judie, especially her cooking.&nbsp; A master of the homemade bread, chicken-fried steak, sugar cookies and beef jerky, she would load the school bus and head to the harvest field, or the van and head to the lake, or just invite anyone in the area to the farmhouse for a meal, cards, games, and fellowship.

Judie loved to invite her community to join her on the dance floor.&nbsp; Whether as an EMT, an aerobics instructor, the crazy snake lady of the Rattlesnake Roundup, or ever-present at her children’s sports and activities, Mom loved the fast pace.&nbsp; Many fall seasons ended with a Corn Party that grew larger than life.&nbsp; Family, friends, community, dancing, and celebration created a moment of togetherness and joy.&nbsp;

Nine grandchildren fell in love with a goofy and free-spirited Grandma Judie.&nbsp; The bottomless candy dish and pistachio bowl were a mainstay on her kitchen table.&nbsp; She would talk to them in an “abb” language that each tried to replicate and converse back.&nbsp; “Motor-boat” lips, or whatever that was, would break-out without warning.&nbsp; Show tunes brought everyone into the room as she would pick just the right one for the exact moment that was occurring.&nbsp; Judie took her “show” into retirement in Colby.&nbsp; It seemed the most important aspect of choosing a house was if the whole family could fit during holidays and reunions.&nbsp; To ensure a good time the swimming pool was always ready to go when the family arrived.&nbsp;

If you were fortunate you would have been one of Judie’s VIDs (Very Important Dog).&nbsp; Gus, Ollie and Baxter were the recipients of anything the grandchildren were entitled to.&nbsp; She orchestrated life with a python, canaries, raccoon, chickens, geese, and guineas.&nbsp; She had an eye for art and jewelry.&nbsp; And to the very end she wanted to know when the Broncos were playing next, never wanting to miss the game.&nbsp; While this earthly dance has concluded, we are confident that Jim swooped her off her feet and they are once again leading the Grand March.&nbsp; We’ll miss you for now, but we’ll see you soon.&nbsp; This dance lasts forever.&nbsp; Love You!

She is lovingly survived by her four children; Tammy (Randy) Robben of Sharon Springs, KS, Connie (Shad) Mehl of Leoti, KS, Matthew (Nancy) Withers of Wichita, KS and Sallie (Elliot) Jensen of Andover, KS.&nbsp; She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. CT at the Colby United Methodist Church in Colby, KS.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. CT at the Colby United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Beulah Cemetery, Colby, KS.

He was also a music enthusiast who attended LOTS of concerts and music festivals with Barb and kids. Ron was a carefree spirit, a spitfire, with a heart of gold. Anyone lucky enough to know him surely has lasting memories and stories to share. Ron was so loved and will be missed by many. Heaven gained one hell of an angel!
