HOISINGTON — Margaret Ann Ney, 93, passed away on October 5, 2023, at Medicalodges of Great Bend, Kansas. She was born August 10, 1930, in Hoisington, the daughter of John E. and Margaret (Kultgen) Koeller. &nbsp;

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society, in Hoisington. She was a former member of the Daughters of Isabella of Claflin.&nbsp;

Margaret Ann was married to Francis J. Ney on April 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2003. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael E. Ney, daughter, Mary Lou Degenhardt, and a grandson, Shawn A. Ney, daughter-in-law, Debbie Ney; two brothers, John and William Koeller, a sister, Luella M. Crouch, brother-in-law, William M. Crouch, and a sister-in-law, Opal Koeller.

Margaret Ann worked as a retail clerk for Duckwalls &amp; Banner stores in Hoisington. She then went to work in 1989 for Anthony’s and later Stage Stores in Great Bend. She also sold Avon over her lifetime until October of 2019. 

Before and after her retirement she hosted bus trips to the casinos of Kansas with Cheyenne Travel and the Hoisington Recreation. &nbsp;Margaret Ann didn’t know a stranger for she was always looking to fill that next bus trip. 

Her smile and outgoing personality will live forever in the following survivors: sons, John F. Ney (Nicky) of Great Bend and Bob (Hope) Ney of Hoisington, son-in-law, Richard Degenhardt of Great Bend, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 12 to 8 p.m., Sunday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A vigil and rosary will begin at 7 p.m., all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, Kansas, celebrated by Father Warren Stoecklein. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington.

Margaret Ann Ney

Dennis Donald Bakos, age 80, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on November 13, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Geraldine (Levine) Bakos. 

Dennis attended St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin and made a significant impact during his lifetime. On February 7, 1970, Dennis married the love of his life, Evelyn Dale Phelps, in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. He served his country as a U.S. Army veteran and then embarked on a successful career path.

Dennis worked for Schlitz Brewing Company, where he was in charge of ordering raw products. He later became the vice president of Hop Union, ultimately finishing his career as the president of the company. His dedication and hard work left a lasting legacy in the brewing industry.

Outside of his professional life, Dennis had a deep love for reading, drawing, and spending weekends watching movies with his son. He cherished these moments of relaxation and bonding.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn, of Hays; his son, Jason Joseph Bakos, and wife Melinda, along with their children, Makeena and Ashlyn, all residing in Spokane, Washington. He is also survived by his siblings, Diane, Christine, Andrea, Antoinette, and his younger brother, also named Dennis.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Funeral services to honor Dennis's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Comeau Catholic Campus Center, located at 506 W. 6th, Hays.

Norma Jean Harvey, age 88, died on October 3, 2023, at Grisell Memorial Hospital, Ransom, Kansas. &nbsp;She was born on September 14, 1935, in WaKeeney, Kansas the daughter of Richard and Ila (Dorman) Phillips.

Norma’s father worked with the railroad and the family lived in several area towns, Collyer, Tribune, Utica, and WaKeeney, as Norma grew up.&nbsp; 

She was a 1953 graduate of Utica High School where she met Allen “Toad” Harvey.&nbsp; They were married on August 23, 1953, in Utica.&nbsp; Except for the years he was in the Navy, the two were inseparable.&nbsp; 

Norma and Toad lived in many places for his work, until they settled in Buffalo, Wyoming where they purchased and ran a lodge, “The Pines” for years.&nbsp; After selling “The Pines” they moved to WaKeeney and traveled as much as they could in their motorhome. Norma Jean also loved to oil paint, especially flowers, and create other “crafty” items.

Norma is survived by her sister, Vicki James, of Denver Colorado; three sisters-in-law, Letha, Wanda, and Doris; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp; 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, on July 8, 2015, her parents, and her sister, Gwen McCartee.

A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 10, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, WaKeeney.

Norma Jean Harvey

Herbert (Herb) Benton Bowman, 92, passed away October 3, 2023 at Credo Living Center, Hoisington, Kansas.

He was born June 11, 1931 in Larned, Kansas, the son of Hugh Benton and Velma Myrtle Rice Bowman.&nbsp;

A lifetime area resident, he owned Bo-lan Holstein Farm for 51 years. After graduating from Zook High School and attending Kansas State university, he served in the United States Army. He was active in Larned United Methodist Church, Kansas Holstein Association, and Pawnee County Extension Board.

He is survived by his wife Kathy (Kathleen) Penka. They were married on September 4, 1954 in Arkansas.

Other survivors include: &nbsp;four daughters, Donna Maskus, Hays; Dee (James) Eberwein, Alma; Shelly (Gregg) Sexton, Abilene; and Sharon (Mark) Lessard, Larned; sister, Evelyn Bergmann, Kansas City; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Bowman, Salina; ten grandchildren, Mark Maskus, Matt Maskus, Allen Eberwein, Ben (Jami) Eberwein, Chris Eberwein, Sarah (Jarrod) Bowser, Jamie Sexton, Kathleen (Justin) Schultze, Alex (Seth) Filbert, and Amanda Lessard; nine great-grandchildren, Ellerey and Easton Eberwein, Claire and Cora Bowser, Grant and Royce Schultze and Giles, Layne and Baby Filbert.

Lin H. Gordon, 76, Hays, died Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at his home.

He was born June 28, 1947 in Ellsworth, the son of Marion and Dorothy (Whitmer) Gordon. 

In 1965, he graduated from Hays High School and was actively involved with class reunions. 

He married Joyce Lehman, and they later divorced. On May 1, 1982 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Legleiter in Hays, and they were married 22 years before she preceded him in death on November 26, 2004. 

He worked in construction, was a truck driver, treated oil wells for Champion Oil Company, and was a fuel man for co-op. He was active in AARP, enjoyed carpentry, home remodeling, and learning history, especially through his opportunity to take a cruise to ancient civilizations and his membership in The Westerners. Lin loved spending time outdoors trap shooting, hiking, fly fishing, making his own flies, doing yardwork, and gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Brandon Legleiter and wife Nicole of Hays and Ben Gordon of Topeka, three sisters, Carol Gordon and Phyllis Robertson, both of Hays and Anita Gordon-Gilmore of Olathe, four granddaughters, Tristan, Teagan, Aspen, and Brecklyn Legleiter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Bonnie.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Lin H. Gordon

Kamryn Marie McFarland, age 19, of Big Bow, Kansas, was born April 9, 2004, at 3:20 p.m. in Galveston, Texas. She passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 8:38 p.m. in Ulysses, Kansas. 

She is the daughter of Rex A. and Sheri (Creech) Julian and other mother, Terry McFarland.

Kamryn graduated high school at the age of 17. While in high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society, played volleyball, and ran cross country. She then attended Garden City Community College in Garden City before transferring to Fort Hays University seeking a teaching degree. 

Kamryn volunteered at the Loaves and Fishes and Restored by Grace in Ulysses. This is where she met so many Christian women. This is where her journey with Christ began to shine. 

Kamryn taught third grade at Harvest Christian School. She loved her job and her students. Kamryn loved fearlessly and one of her great loves was Angel Antonio Miranda. They loved each other tremendously and had planned on making a future together.

Survivors include her parents, Rex and Sheri Julian of Big Bow; aunt, Terry (Teke) McFarland; sisters, Kaemyn McFarland, Britt Cantrell and husband Matt, Kristin Eldredge and husband Chris, Amanda Julian, Heather Julian, Tabitha Julian and Samantha Julian; brothers, Kyle Buse and wife Rachel, Vernon Buse and wife Jamie, Zachary Julian, Nathan Julian and Skylar Julian; many nieces, nephews and cousins, Haleigh, Gracie, Ella, Kiki, Landon, Lexie, Matthew and Emerson; and a multitude of friends and other family members.

Memorial service will be Monday, October 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson. The service will also be available on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Inurnment will be in Woodson, Texas, on October 13, 2023.

Dean Scott, 85, died on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at his home in Ness City. He was born on November 11, 1937 at Dighton the son of Richard Earl and Hazel Alberta (Leonard) Scott. 

He married JoAnn Mack on October 21, 1965 at Mesa, Arizona.

Dean graduated from Dighton High School with the class of 1955. 

He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. After his discharge he returned to Dighton before taking computer training education. He moved to Flagstaff, Arizona where he was a Computer Programmer for Northern Arizona University and then later become involved in real estate in Flagstaff. 

After retiring he moved to Ness City. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing golf.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn Scott and brother Alan and Marsha Scott of Dighton.

Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Dighton Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jennifer Bradford officiating. Military honors will be by 1st Infantry Honor Guard of Fort Riley and American Legion Post # 190 Honor Guard.

Gregg Douglas Cooper, 74, of Hoxie, Kansas passed away Tuesday, October 3,2023, at the Sheridan County Health Complex. Gregg was born in Hoxie, Kansas, April 25, 1949, to Mark and Rose (Meier) Cooper. 

He grew up in Hoxie, Kansas and attended the Hoxie Schools, graduating from Sheridan Community High School with the class of 1967. 

After graduation, Gregg entered the United States Navy. He was stationed on an aircraft carrier off the cost of Vietnam. He served his country for five years. 

Gregg married Carol Ostmeyer on April 23, 1969, at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Hoxie. They celebrated 54 years of marriage. Gregg and Carol made their home in Hoxie where they raised their three sons.

Gregg worked at Heim TV and Appliance installing and repairing HVAC systems among other services until he retired. Gregg was never idle, after retirement he continued to do HVAC installation and repairs. 

Gregg and Carol enjoyed camping in their RV at regional lakes until they found their second home at Webster Lake. They would spend their summers at Webster Lake. Fishing was another activity Gregg really loved. In Gregg’s eyes there was nothing better than camping, fishing, and visiting with friends and family at the lake. The loves of his life were his wife, sons, and grandchildren.

Gregg is survived by his wife Carol of Hoxie, Kansas; sons Daryl Cooper of Hill City, Kansas, Scott Cooper (Tasha) of Hoxie, Kansas, Doug Cooper (Emily) of Overland Park, Kansas; brothers Bruce Cooper (Jeree) of Hoisington, Kansas, Brad Cooper (Becky) of Newton, Kansas; sister Marsha Moss of Hoxie, Kansas; grandchildren Josh Taylor, Cayle Taylor, Zach Cooper, Carley Cooper, Rose Cooper, and Luke Cooper; great-grandchildren Kadance, Harper, Jaxsen, and Kendal Jo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Rose Cooper.

A Catholic mass and burial will be held at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Hoxie, Kansas, Friday, October 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with inurnment to follow the service in the St. Frances Cabrini Cemetery. Anthony P. Geist of Hays, Kansas passed away September 30, 2023 at Hays Medical Center.

Anthony Peter Geist, age 68, passed away on September 30, 2023, in Hays, Kansas. He was born on August 26, 1955, in Hill City, Kansas, to parents William Mike and Marian Anna (Trower) Geist. 

On May 15, 1982, he married the love of his life, Theresa Flegler.

Anthony's career began as a cement truck driver for Allied of Hays before transitioning into a mechanic role at the Auto Mall and Hays Ford. He had a passion for tinkering with cars, which he pursued as a hobby throughout his life. In addition to his love for automobiles, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, immersing himself in the serene beauty of nature.

Anthony is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa, of Hays, his mother, Marian, of Hays, two sons, Michael Geist and Matthew Geist, and Matthew's wife, Kylie, all residing in Hays. He is also survived by a daughter, Angela Alvarez of Wichita, a brother, Don Geist of Texas, four sisters, Mary Lou Taylor of Oklahoma, Marge Herbert of Wisconsin, Monica Geist of Salina, and Marita Geist of Topeka. Anthony's legacy lives on through his 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Mike Geist, and a brother, Jim Geist.

Anthony P. Geist

Larry Vern Litton, 82, died Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas. He was born July 21, 1941 in Grinnell, Kansas, the son of Vern and Hazel (McQuitty) Litton. 

Larry grew up in rural Gove and Scott Counties, attending school in Scott City. He graduated from Scott Community High School in 1959.

While young, Larry spent school days with his maternal grandparents, Walter and Annis McQuitty in Scott City, because his parents lived on the ranch in the country. Larry often commented that he played a part in developing many of the cakes Grandma McQuitty was known for. He described himself as the “guinea pig” for new recipes that needed to be taste-tested during the time he spent in their home.

On September 3, 1961, Larry married Judy Ann Carpenter in Shallow Water, Kansas. The union produced two children. 

Larry worked in the water well industry in the Scott City area before moving to Holcomb, Kansas in 1977. Larry became maintenance coordinator for the Sunflower Electric plant under construction in the early 1980s and would work there for twenty years. During retirement, he worked various jobs to keep busy.

Larry followed his parents in joining and remaining active in the Order of Eastern Star, and Masons organizations. Prior to his death, he received his 50-year Eastern Star recognition. 

He also enjoyed hunting, shooting sports, and collecting firearms. He and Judy enjoyed travel. The pair visited numerous cities and countries and went on several cruise adventures. He and Judy raised their children with a love of water, and many family outings involved camping at the lake and water skiing.

Larry is survived by his wife, Judy, of the home; his son, Curtis Litton, of Holcomb, Kansas; his daughter, Chrisshell (Darrell) Walters of Lakin; four grandchildren: Jessica (Steve) Luttrell of Overton, Nebraska; Jarrett Walters of Kearney, Nebraska; Joshua Walters of Alexandria, Virginia; and Nichole Vaden of Wichita, Kansas, as well as five great-grandchildren.&nbsp;Larry is survived by two sisters: Leanna (Lester) Webb of Deerfield, Kansas, and Linda (Andy) Berning of Nebraska, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Brent Litton. 

There will be no formal services held at this time.

Brandon Hogan

Donald B Zook, age 93, passed away September 30, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, with his children Tamara and Bob at his side.&nbsp;

He was born November 20, 1929 at the family farm near Zook, Kansas, the son of Abner Jesse and Ida (White) Zook, born in the same room as his father and his older siblings Dorothy and Milford.

&nbsp;He went to school at the Zook public school through his sophomore year of high school before transferring to Hesston Academy for his junior and senior years, then continuing at Hesston through his associate's degree in education. 

In 1946, Don participated as a “Seagoing Cowboy” with the Mennonite Relief Effort of rebuilding Poland after WWII by hauling a shipload of pregnant mares making him aware of the ravages of war and instilling in him a love of international travel. 

Don received his bachelor of philosophy at Bethel College and went on to teach and coach a year at Shallow Water High School before going to Southern Methodist University where he received his master's of divinity. 

While teaching at Shallow Water High School he met Natalie Jo Zink the daughter of the school board president and they married in 1954. After ordination as a Methodist minister his first of nine Kansas church appointments was to Palco and Mt. Pleasant congregations (1955-1958) where Don and Natalie’s first child, Tamara Kay, was born. His second appointment was Lindsborg and Bridgeport (1958-1963) where their second child Dana Bob was born. Belle Plaine followed (1963-1967) and Bird City (1967-1973) where he led the design and building of new churches for both congregations. 

After a summer-long family travel experience in southeast Asia in 1970, missionary friends contacted Don and Natalie to sponsor Philemon Yamin to the United States and a brother was brought into the extended Zook family, later providing grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

The following appointments were Grace United Methodist, Wichita, Kansas (1973-1977); Hoisington (1977-1981); Leoti and Pleasant Valley (1981-1984); Great Bend First Church (1984-9187) and ending his almost 40 year career at the trio appointment of Macksville, Belpre, Trusdale (1987-1993). 

During his career and then during retirement Don and Natalie supported international congregations as an interim pastor in Northern Ireland; Northern England; London; Bogota, Columbia; Brasilia, Brazil and Bali, Indonesia. 

Don and Natalie built a vacation cabin in Pitkin, Colorado where for 50 years they happily summered. Don loved reading and writing and supporting sports while also exercising daily himself leading to winning several Kansas Senior Games gold medals where he was the oldest participant by 20 years. His curiosity of people, politics and places was the driving force of his love of travel which took him to over 60 countries. Don and Natalie also loved traveling from Alaska to Mexico in their RV.&nbsp;

Don Zook was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Dorothy Rishel, brother Milford Zook and wife Natalie Jo (Zink) Zook.&nbsp;

He is survived by his two children Tamara Zook and Bob Zook as well as his extended Yamin family Philemon, Ting Ting, grandchildren Sheshin (Rob) Yeung and Shiann (Sally) Yamin and great-grandchildren Jessica, Jacob and Liam as well as many cousins, and Zink and Zook grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Don’s celebration of life will be Friday, Oct. 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Larksfield Place Auditorium at 2727 E. 29th Street N., Wichita, KS. The graveside service will be held at Pleasant Valley Township Cemetery, Pawnee County (Zook), KS, Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Carl Martin presiding.

 </figure>November 20, 1929 - September 30, 2023Donald B Zook, age 93, passed away September 30, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, with his children Tamara and Bob at his side.&nbsp;He was born November 20, 1929 at the family farm near Zook, Kansas, the son of Abner Jesse and Ida (White) Zook, born in the same room as his father and his older siblings Dorothy and Milford.&nbsp;He went to school at the Zook public school through his sophomore year of high school before transferring to Hesston Academy for his junior and senior years, then continuing at Hesston through his associate's degree in education. In 1946, Don participated as a “Seagoing Cowboy” with the Mennonite Relief Effort of rebuilding Poland after WWII by hauling a shipload of pregnant mares making him aware of the ravages of war and instilling in him a love of international travel. Don received his bachelor of philosophy at Bethel College and went on to teach and coach a year at Shallow Water High School before going to Southern Methodist University where he received his master's of divinity. While teaching at Shallow Water High School he met Natalie Jo Zink the daughter of the school board president and they married in 1954. After ordination as a Methodist minister his first of nine Kansas church appointments was to Palco and Mt. Pleasant congregations (1955-1958) where Don and Natalie’s first child, Tamara Kay, was born. His second appointment was Lindsborg and Bridgeport (1958-1963) where their second child Dana Bob was born. Belle Plaine followed (1963-1967) and Bird City (1967-1973) where he led the design and building of new churches for both congregations. After a summer-long family travel experience in southeast Asia in 1970, missionary friends contacted Don and Natalie to sponsor Philemon Yamin to the United States and a brother was brought into the extended Zook family, later providing grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The following appointments were Grace United Methodist, Wichita, Kansas (1973-1977); Hoisington (1977-1981); Leoti and Pleasant Valley (1981-1984); Great Bend First Church (1984-9187) and ending his almost 40 year career at the trio appointment of Macksville, Belpre, Trusdale (1987-1993). During his career and then during retirement Don and Natalie supported international congregations as an interim pastor in Northern Ireland; Northern England; London; Bogota, Columbia; Brasilia, Brazil and Bali, Indonesia. Don and Natalie built a vacation cabin in Pitkin, Colorado where for 50 years they happily summered. Don loved reading and writing and supporting sports while also exercising daily himself leading to winning several Kansas Senior Games gold medals where he was the oldest participant by 20 years. His curiosity of people, politics and places was the driving force of his love of travel which took him to over 60 countries. Don and Natalie also loved traveling from Alaska to Mexico in their RV.&nbsp;Don Zook was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Dorothy Rishel, brother Milford Zook and wife Natalie Jo (Zink) Zook.&nbsp;He is survived by his two children Tamara Zook and Bob Zook as well as his extended Yamin family Philemon, Ting Ting, grandchildren Sheshin (Rob) Yeung and Shiann (Sally) Yamin and great-grandchildren Jessica, Jacob and Liam as well as many cousins, and Zink and Zook grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.Don’s celebration of life will be Friday, Oct. 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Larksfield Place Auditorium at 2727 E. 29th Street N., Wichita, KS. Lewis Duane Mills, peacefully passed to be with his Lord on September 26, 2023 at the age of 86.

Duane was born on February 26, 1937, in Hutchinson, KS. He lived with his parents, John and Eunice Mills and his eight siblings: Donna, MaryAnn, John, Dorothy, Judy, Marty, Jim and Mark.

Duane graduated from high school in Salina, KS in 1955, and joined the Air Force, serving for four years as an airplane mechanic. He then attended Fort Hays State where he played college football. There, he met his college sweetheart, Charon Lower, and they were married on Christmas Eve of 1961. He received his bachelor’s degree in industrial arts. He later received two master’s degrees, one from Fort Hays in education and the second master’s in educational administration from Wichita, KS.

Duane worked as a high school English teacher, auto mechanics teacher, and football coach. He later worked as a high school counselor and counselor for the troubled youth at the Larned State Hospital. He taught for 32 years. 

Duane was a voracious reader, loved teaching and coaching, loved his family, and had a heart for the underdog. Duane was a faithful disciple for his family and children, and taught them to love the Lord and led by Godly example. &nbsp;He enjoyed his home improvement projects, gardening, playing games with his family, and playing ping pong and tennis. &nbsp;He loved Jamoca shakes, pepperoni sausage pizza from Pizza Hut, and Mom’s cooking.

Duane was predeceased by his parents, John and Eunice Mills, his two brothers, John Mills and Mark Mills, and his sister, Dorothy Engle.

 He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Charon Mills, and is lovingly remembered by his five children: son, Darrel and his wife, Debra Mills; daughters: Chalena and her husband, Larry Sandahl, Karon and her husband, Joe Henderson, Melisa Neill, and Jeanette and her husband, Troy Hockersmith; twelve grandchildren: Austin, Alec Mills and Katie Dobbs; Matthew, Brian and Melanie (spouse) Starseed and Nathan Sandahl, Miranda and Stephen (spouse) Caldwell and Kara Henderson, and Drs. Kayla and Nick (spouse) Hanna, Jordan and Barbara (spouse) Hockersmith and Kenzie Hockersmith and Andrew Neill; his eight great-great-grandchildren: Isaiah and Elijah Dobbs, Saphire and Harmony Starseed: Blayke and Bently Caldwell; Aubrey and Barrett Hanna.&nbsp;

A memorial graveside service with military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21 at Pawnee Rock Cemetery, Pawnee Rock, Kansas.&nbsp;

Lewis Duane Mills

Jerry D. Borgstadter, dedicated husband and father, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the age of 88. He was in the care of the Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed Unit in La Crosse, Kansas.

Jerry was born January 30, 1935, in Lincoln, Kansas. He was the son of George Herman and Bertha Mae (Shafer) Borgstadter. 

He graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1952.

In August 1963, he married Nina Kohls. They later divorced. On February 14, 2004, he married Dolores (Solomon) Pokorny at the First United Methodist Church in La Crosse, Kansas. This union brought joy and companionship to his life, and they shared many experiences and memories together.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life of hunting and fishing with friends, Edward Fischer and Bob Cooper. In addition to his love for the outdoors, he was a skilled pool player, and spent time teaching trick shots to others. Jerry enjoyed football, especially K-State football and the local high school team. He also enjoyed spending time in his shop creating special woodworking projects for family and friends.

Professionally, Jerry was a senior engineering technician and land surveyor, a career that reflected his attention to detail. During the 43 years of his career, he traveled the western part of Kansas creating many lifelong friendships.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Borgstadter, La Crosse, Kansas; son, Darin Borgstadter (Holly Galloway), Salem, Oregon; daughter, Valerie (Borgstadter) Nixon, Prineville, Oregon; stepson, John Pokorny, M.D., Hays, Kansas; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Nixon, Eugene, Oregon and Dallen Nixon, Monmouth, Oregon; stepgrandchildren, Ryan Pokorny, Richmond, Virginia and Jill (Pokorny) Stolz, Omaha, Nebraska, and stepgreat-grandchild, Aspen Elaine Stolz, Omaha, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son in law, Dale Nixon, and brother, Gerald Borgstadter.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas.

Interment will be Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, Kansas.

David A. Law, 82, passed away September 30, 2023 at his home in Jetmore with his family by his side.

He was born May 26, 1941 in Jetmore, the son of George A. and Mildred E. Pittaway Law. &nbsp;A lifetime area resident, he was a truck driver.

He attended the Jetmore Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion, Legion Riders, NRA and served in the United States Army. David loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed motorcycles, racing motorcycles, hunting and loved the Kansas City Chiefs.&nbsp;

On August 1, 2015 he married Juanita Ramos in Jetmore. &nbsp;She survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, LeAnna (Van) Kay Brown, Eads, CO and Lacy (Abe) Renee Queen, Wiley, CO; sister, Evelyn Bradford, Sawyer; four grandchildren, Ashley Ferguson, Victor Brown, Rylee Queen, Wyatt Queen and two great-grandchildren, Amari and Kyrie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Deanna Lee Law; sister, Dorothy (Arlyn) Bradford, and a brother-in-law, Don Bradford.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023 at Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore with Pastor David Johnson presiding. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. &nbsp;Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore with military graveside rites.

David A. Law 

Ashlee Ra Logan, age 48, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, peacefully at her home in Scott County, Kansas. She was born on January 4, 1975, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Roy Turley and Cricket Panzer. 

A lifetime resident of Scott County, Kansas, she completed her bachelor's in elementary education as well as her master’s in special education. She was an elementary school teacher at the Scott County Elementary School specializing in special education and pre-kindergarten and she was a farmer's wife.

Ashlee was a member of the Pence Community Church in Pence, Kansas, KNEA, Delta Kappa Gamma, and was a 4-H Leader.&nbsp; She was the National Little Britches Rodeo Queen in 1992 and loved horses.

On July 9th, 1994, she married Kurt Logan at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include her husband Kurt Logan of Scott City, Kansas, two daughters, Karlee and Daniel Hair of Brownell, Kansas, Kylee Logan of Scott City, Kansas, father and stepmother Roy and Tina Turley of Modoc, Kansas, mother Cricket Turley of Garden City, Kansas, one brother, RA and Tina Turley of Modoc, Kansas, one granddaughter, Kinslee Ra Hair of Brownell, Kansas, father and mother-in-law&nbsp; Cloy and Leona Logan of Scott City, Kansas, two brothers- in-law, Calvin and Leyla Logan of Broomfield, Colorado, Kyle and Hilary Logan of Centennial, Colorado, and nieces and nephews Kalie and Matt Abramovitz of Valley Falls, Kansas, Blake and Megan Logan of Westminster, Colorado, Chloe and Jayson Gagna of Hays, Kansas, Thomas and Diana Logan of Laramie, Wyoming.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas with Pastor Don Williams presiding.

She was an elementary school teacher at the Scott County Elementary School specializing in special education and pre-kindergarten and she was a farmer's wife.Ashlee was a member of the Pence Community Church in Pence, Kansas, KNEA, Delta Kappa Gamma, and was a 4-H Leader.&nbsp; She was the National Little Britches Rodeo Queen in 1992 and loved horses.On July 9th, 1994, she married Kurt Logan at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas.Survivors include her husband Kurt Logan of Scott City, Kansas, two daughters, Karlee and Daniel Hair of Brownell, Kansas, Kylee Logan of Scott City, Kansas, father and stepmother Roy and Tina Turley of Modoc, Kansas, mother Cricket Turley of Garden City, Kansas, one brother, RA and Tina Turley of Modoc, Kansas, one granddaughter, Kinslee Ra Hair of Brownell, Kansas, father and mother-in-law&nbsp; Cloy and Leona Logan of Scott City, Kansas, two brothers- in-law, Calvin and Leyla Logan of Broomfield, Colorado, Kyle and Hilary Logan of Centennial, Colorado, and nieces and nephews Kalie and Matt Abramovitz of Valley Falls, Kansas, Blake and Megan Logan of Westminster, Colorado, Chloe and Jayson Gagna of Hays, Kansas, Thomas and Diana Logan of Laramie, Wyoming.She was preceded in death by her grandparents.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas with Pastor Don Williams presiding.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be written to Ashlee Logan Memorial Fund for an education scholarship in care of Price &amp; Sons Funeral Home, P.O. Lifelong resident of Goodland, Rosetta Mae Whiteman, age 77, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado.

 </figure>April 28, 1946 ~ September 15, 2023 (age 77)Lifelong resident of Goodland, Rosetta Mae Whiteman, age 77, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado.Rosie was born April 28, 1946 to Dennis E. and Mary Celesta (Gernhart) Humrich in Goodland. She grew up in Goodland and graduated from Sherman Community High School in 1964. On February 4, 1973 she married Duane E. “Mike” Whiteman. To this union five children became siblings, Mike, Mark, Kim, Sonya and Micki.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rosie worked as cook and homemaker. She enjoyed playing bingo, playing 5 at Cowboy Corner and dearly loved spending time with her family and friends. She was known as NANA to everyone.&nbsp;Preceding her in death are her parents, sister Mary, her husband Duane (Mike) and stepson Mike. She is survived by her children Sonya (Steve) Schwartz of Topeka, KS, Micki (Brad) Ensign of Goodland, KS, Mark Whiteman of Fargo, OK and Kim Dudley of Woodward, OK; grandchildren, Sayler, Sage, Sawyer, Dawson, Emmi, Kyan, Vanessa, Katie, Kylene, Sierra, Chelsea, and Ryan; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Pat (Dennis) Owens of Henderson, NV and Gladys Davisson of Northern CA; and many more family and friends.Memorial service will be Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. MT at the First Baptist Church, 1121 Main Street, Goodland.
