The Hays Community Theatre began their series of performances of the original production of Keeping Christmas: A Tradition Christmas Tale by Kathleen Maule Holen.&nbsp;

Along with the previous performances, the group is set to present the show at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9, and at 3 p.m. Dec. 10.

Sunday afternoon attendees enjoyed dessert and Christmas music in a Renaissance atmosphere at the Rose Garden Baquet Hall during a fundraiser for Fort Hays State University students traveling to preform with the Smoky Hill Chorale in Salzburg, Austria in June 2023.

Saturday the Hays Symphony Orchestra hosted their Holiday Pops concert.&nbsp;

The annual event drew over 500 area resients to FHSU's Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center.

Santa Claus has began his annual visits with area children.&nbsp;

Among spottings in Hays, he was seen at Big Creek Crossing.

While not neccesarly holiday themed, the Hays Art's Council's Winter Art Walk is none the less a seasonal favorite.

The anchor exhibition, The 40th Annual Five State Photography Competition and Exhibition will be on display at the Hays Arts Center until Feb. 9.

The 34th Annual Fred Ruda’s Teaming up for Tots event Saturday created over 150 toy boats to be gieven out for Christmas.

Over the weekend The Ellis Polar Express took visitors through lighted Christmas displays in the heart of down downtown Ellis.

A minister was walking down the street when he came upon a group of about a dozen boys. The had surrounded a dog. Concerned lest the boys were hurting the dog, he went over and asked, “What are you doing with that dog?”

One of the boys replied, “This dog is a stray. We all want him, but only one of us can take him home. So we’ve decided that whichever one of us can tell the biggest lie will get to keep the dog.”

The reverend was taken aback. “You boys shouldn’t be having a contest telling lies!” he exclaimed. He then launched into a sermon against lying, beginning with, “Don’t you boys know it’s a sin to lie,” and ending with, “Why, when I was your age, I never told a lie.”

There was dead silence for about a minute. Just as the reverend was beginning to think he’d gotten through to them, the smallest boy gave a deep sigh and said, “All right, give him the dog.”
