Grass fire reported at milemarker 206 on I-70 near Dorrance

A grass fire has been reported in the area of mile marker 206 of Interstate 70 near Dorrance.

The fire may result in low visibility and road closures in that area. 

Winds were forecast to gust up to 50 mph today, according the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service is reporting high fire danger today for 

Trego-Ellis-Scott-Lane-Ness-Rush-Hamilton-Kearny-Finney-Hodgeman- Pawnee-Stafford-Stanton-Grant-Haskell-Gray-Ford-Edwards-Kiowa- Pratt-Morton-Stevens-Seward-Meade-Clark-Comanche-Barber coutnies.

Russell and Ellsworth counties are also included.

The lowest relative humidity values will be along and west of U.S. Highway 283, and these areas will have the most favorable environment for wildfires to spread rapidly with the winds.

Blowing dust and lower visibility is also possible this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
