Eileen K. Stegman, 87, of Dodge City, Kansas, died December 28, 2021, at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. She was born on February 9, 1934, at Brownell, Kansas, the daughter of Emanuel and Marie (Gumescheimer) Heronemus.

She married Patrick A. Stegman on May 2, 1955, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2010. Eileen worked as a teller at First National Bank in Dodge City before she became a mother. She then started her own at-home ironing service. After the children were all in school she worked as a receptionist for several doctor offices in Dodge City. She enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing with her husband and family. Eileen loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral and the Altar Society in Dodge City as well as St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Spearville.

She is survived by one daughter Cynthia Vierthaler and husband, Bruce, of Spearville, Kansas; two sons, Michael Stegman and wife, Tina, of rural Jetmore, and Anthony Stegman and wife, Julie, of Dodge City. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Patrick; a granddaughter, Beth Ann Vierthaler; and two brothers, Leonard and Ronald Heronemus.

Vigil service will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City. Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Tuesday January 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to Beth Ann Vierthaler Memorial Scholarship or Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund in care of the funeral home.
