Donald Max Stewart died on October 24, 2025, in Lawrence, Kansas. He was born to Charlcie Melinda (Fields) Stewart and Milo Franklin Stewart on March 15, 1934, in Talmage, Kansas. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1952, where he played football and excelled in basketball. He attended the University of Kansas for two years, transferring to Fort Hays State University to accept a basketball scholarship. He received his BS degree from Fort Hays in January 1958.

Don and Royalynn Louise Law were married in August 1958 at the First United Methodist Church in Hays, Kansas. They departed to Chicago where Don enrolled in graduate school at Northwestern University, and Royalynn taught elementary school in Park Ridge. In 1960 Don graduated from Northwestern with an MS degree in hospital administration. Don’s graduate work required residency in a hospital, and he chose Methodist Hospital of Dallas, where he and Royalynn lived for three years. While in Dallas their son Craig Edward was born. In 1963 the family moved to Hays, where at age 29 Don became CEO of Hadley Regional Medical Center. He served at Hadley for 20 years. In 1964 their son Brian Conrad was born.

While at Hadley, Don received the Kansas Outstanding Young Man award in 1968, and he received an award from the Kansas Federation of Business and Professional Women for his efforts to advance women in the workplace.

In 1983 Don became President and Chief Operating Officer of Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Don thrived on managing hospitals but had a vision of an independent philanthropic organization dedicated to improving the health of all Kansans. This led him to become instrumental in the sale of Wesley Medical Center, the proceeds of which formed the Kansas Health Foundation and the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund. Since its inception, the Kansas Health Foundation has made grants to health organizations in Kansas totaling more than $500 million to improve the health of all Kansans. Grants from the foundation will continue in perpetuity. Don continued his work at Wesley for several years, but his desire to address other health issues took him to the Kansas Health Foundation, where he became Senior Advisor. While researching a project, Don found that there was little information specific to Kansas, so the Kansas Health Institute was formed. The Institute is based in Topeka and is today considered one of the premier state-based health research and policy institutes in the country. Later, the Kansas Health Foundation formed the Kansas Leadership Center, which provides leadership programs throughout the state and beyond.

Don developed and oversaw a program to assist rural hospitals and realized those areas had a critical need for primary care professionals. At one time, the state had two programs that trained nurse practitioners, but one had closed and the other was faltering. The Foundation made a $1 million-plus grant to the University of Kansas Medical Center, Wichita State University, and Fort Hays State University to establish nurse practitioner programs, and today there are many such programs in Kansas that are helping to address the state’s primary medical care needs.

Don was an established leader in Kansas. He served as chair of the Kansas Blue Cross board and the Kansas Hospital Association. In 1994, he received the Charles S. Billings award from the Kansas Hospital Association, the association’s highest honor. He served on the boards of the American Protestant Hospital Association, the Midwest Health Congress, and Health Frontiers, and he was a delegate to the American Hospital Association. Don was an adjunct professor at the University of Kansas, Wichita State University, and the University of Minnesota.

Outside of healthcare, Don served on many community and nonprofit boards, as well as on the board of the First National Bank of Hays. He was appointed by George H.W. Bush to the Federal Home Loan Bank board. He was on the executive board of the Eisenhower Foundation. Don’s most treasured award came when the Kansas Health Foundation established the Donald M. Stewart Scholarship at the University of Kansas. This scholarship is for students from Abilene and other Dickinson County communities to attend the university.

Don was a devoted husband and father. He, Royalynn and their sons enjoyed sailing, golf, and skiing together. He loved reading, particularly about World War II and Winston Churchill. Don and Royalynn spent many of their retired years in Chipita Park, Colorado and Rio Verde, Arizona. In his last years they lived in Lawrence, where they loved being back in Kansas and 'on the hill.'

Don spent his last year at Bridge Haven Memory Care. He lived in Eltern’s House, and he received excellent and loving care from the wonderful Bridge Haven staff.

Don is survived by his loving wife Royalynn of Lawrence, Kansas, his son Brian (Christie) of Bluffton, South Carolina, his son Craig of Denver, Colorado, his daughter-in-law Maren Stewart of Denver, and his grandchildren Sam, Jack, and Emma. His boys and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlcie and Milo Stewart and his sister LaVonna Helvey.

Robert Harold 'Bob' Reifschneider, 78, passed
away peacefully on October 25, 2025 at his home in La Crosse, KS. Bob was born
on June 13, 1947 in Great Bend, KS to parents Harold and Dorothy (Busch)
Reifschneider. Bob was a LaCrosse High School graduate. On July 12th 1969, he
married LaRee (Schultz) at St. Michael's Catholic Church in LaCrosse, KS.

Bob, referred to as 'DP' among his cattle hauler friends,
was an owner-operator truck driver, and worked with livestock all his life. He
was passionate about trucking.&nbsp; Over roughly 50 years on the road he
accumulated many miles and life-long friends.

He cherished his family and friends and enjoyed supporting
the community and businesses in town. He was a regular patron of the EZ-Mart,
meeting his friends and ‘amigos’ each morning. He also enjoyed playing the
lottery and visiting casinos. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church
and the Knights of Columbus.&nbsp;

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, parents, his
brother, Frank, and his niece, Lindsey, daughter of Tom and Lesa Reifschneider.

Survivors include his sons: Kevin Reifschneider (Melanie),
Mark Reifschneider (Jill), and David Reifschneider (Johnny); brothers: Paul
Reifschneider (Michelle), John Reifschneider (Debbie), and Tom Reifschneider
(Lesa); sister-in-law: Sharilyn Reifschneider; grandchildren: Katlyn
Reifschneider, Jack Reifschneider (Tyna), and Bo Reifschneider;
great-grandchildren: Elsie and Bennett; as well as numerous nieces, nephews,
and extended family members.

There will be visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Warren Younger, age 64, of Hays, passed away Friday, October 24,
2025, at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. He was born October
17, 1961, at St Anthony Hospital in Hays, Kansas to Marvin and Bernita Anna
(Korbe) Younger.

As a truck driver, Warren spent countless hours connecting places
and people. He was known to many as a driver, but those who knew him best
understood that his hands were never truly still. They were always busy,
whether turning a wrench or shaping metal. When he wasn't in the shop, he could
often be found enjoying a day of shooting.

He is survived by two sons, Christopher Younger and wife Danae,
Joel Younger and wife Amber all of Hays; a brother Daniel Younger and wife
Sharon of Hays; three sisters Rebecca Zimmerman and husband Dennis, Claudia
Leiker and husband David all of Hays, and Olinda Power and husband Gary of
Salina; 7 grandchildren Taylan, Jadyn, Katlyn, Kimber, Emery, Jayce, and Klay
Younger. He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Bernita Anna
(Korbe) Younger.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 3 PM at

 He was born February 11, 1948, in Hays, Kansas to Elmer J, and Irene (Dreiling)
Dinkel.&nbsp; He Married Diane (Dreher) on June 9, 1967, at Saint Mary Help of
Christians Catholic Church in Gorham, Kansas.

 Ron grew up Northeast of Victoria on the family homestead.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He
built his own family farm there and spent his working days farming and raising
cattle.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed seeing his grandkids on weekends, working
on puzzles and his collections, reading and talking about pastimes.&nbsp;

His survivors include his wife, Diane; his children, Medesa (Randy) Sander;
John (Patti) Dinkel; Jennifer (Brad) Wilson;&nbsp;his grandchildren, Rita
Dinkel; Kate and Jake Wilson; his brothers, Bobby; and Larry; his sisters, Carol;
Mari; his sister-in-law, Wanda and her husband, Todd.

Mary Ann married Richard Martin in
1970 to which three daughters were born. They later divorced.

Mary Ann married Wayne Krebs on
November 29, 1996, at a ceremony in Tribune, Kansas. He passed away on August
4, 2002.

Survivors include her daughters,
Connie &amp; David Douglas of Eskridge, Kansas, Dorsey &amp; Dustyn Smith of
Tribune, Kansas, Kera &amp; Brian Weis of Syracuse, Kansas, her grandchildren,

Linda Colleen Cady, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles, Missouri with her daughter holding her hand. She was born March 5, 1948, in Colby, Kansas to Chester and Gladys (Gfeller) Collins.  Linda grew up on a farm near Winona, Kansas and attended Triplains School District where she graduated in 1966.

After graduating from high school, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she attended business college, got married, and had children.

While living in Kansas City, Linda had an in-home daycare for more than 10 years.  She cared for numerous children throughout that time and her love for being around small children never faded.   In 1985, her love for the water however drew her to move her family to the Lake of the Ozarks where she worked in the food industry until her retirement.

Linda always loved to be out and about.  She enjoyed traveling and sightseeing. She would say she was going to take a road and just see where she ended up.  She also loved the water, whether it was the ocean, a lake or the pool.  During the summer months, she was usually found out in the boat or in her pool.  Most of all though, she loved her family and spending time with them. During her final years she cherished the time she was able to spend with her daughter and great-granddaughter, Brendalynn.

Survivors include her children; daughter, Marla Humphrey of Sunrise Beach, Missouri and son, Travis Cady (Michelle) of Eldon, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Jane Lacy of Eldon, Missouri; two sisters, Diana Jenkins of Scott City, Kansas and Nancy Wilford (Craig) of Derby, Kansas; and brother, Phillip Collins (Lori) of Grinnell, Kansas. Linda was blessed to have nine grandchildren, Mathew Humphrey, Nicholas Humphrey, Hayley Purington (Kenny), Rebecca Van Pelt (Nikki), Rene Van Pelt, Brian Van Pelt, Christopher Cady, Jennifer Stringberg, Darren Stringberg and eight great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Brendalynn, Charlie, Teddy, Marissa, Faith, Cassandra and Addi.

Former
Phillipsburg resident, Faye Ann Hunziker-McGuire, passed away surrounded by
loved ones on Friday, October 17, 2025, in Hays, KS at the age of 94.

She was born
September 12, 1931, in Prairie View, KS the daughter of Dewey and Mary (Fisk)
Breese.&nbsp;She graduated from the Logan High School with the Class of 1949.

On June 17, 1949,
she was united in marriage to Junior (Cotton) Lee Hunziker. &nbsp;To this union
4 children were born: JoLene, Jacque, Jerry, and Kurtis. They celebrated 51
years of marriage before Junior’s passing in 2000. She later married Leland
Wayne McGuire on March 8, 2004. Faye and Leland enjoyed many years together
before Leland passed in 2015. 

She was also
preceded in death by her parents; son Jerry, sisters DeLene Woodring&nbsp;and
Phyllis Lorence &amp; family; and brothers Dewey Dean and Joe Breese.

Survivors
include her daughters JoLene Bay of Kansas City, MO and Jacque Ausmus and
husband John of McKinney, TX; son Kurtis Hunziker and wife Christine of Hays,
KS; seven grandchildren: Logan Bay (Brenda Hernandez) of Chicago; Dewey O’Neill
(Cindy) of Allen, TX; Patrick O’Neill (Stacey) of Barnhart, MO; Jeremy Thomas
(Carly) of Eudora, KS; Korey Hunziker (Aja) of Kansas City, KS; Kara
VanderGiesen (Bret) of Hays, KS; Camryn Hunziker of Hays, KS; and twelve
great-grandchildren: Rachelle Palme; Donovan O’Neill; Sara and Carson O’Neill;
Shirey and Chazley Thomas; Addelyn, Easton and Oaklyn VanderGiesen; Maverick

Faye held
many roles throughout her life. After spending time as a stay-at-home mother
running a small daycare, she went on to work at Phillips County Nursing Home. She
filled many roles including Social Service Designee, Activities Director, CNA,
and LPN. She loved her work and the people she cared for. She also volunteered
for the local school and community by serving as a room mother, Sunday school
teacher, and scout leader. 

Faye enjoyed
sewing, reading, cooking, baking, gardening, doing puzzles and playing cards. She
also enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams: the Chiefs, the Royals, and the
K-State Wildcats. She cherished the moments spent with her family, and above
all, treasured the time with her grandchildren. 

Funeral
services for Faye will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in
the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg. &nbsp;<a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100055272974764">The services will be streamed on the

Faye Ann Hunziker-McGuire

Ruth Firestone, age 89 of Hays, Kansas died Monday, October 20,
2025 at HaysMed - Hays. She was born in 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Ruth
and John Hartzell, she spent her early years in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania—a
suburb of Philadelphia—in a house that was part of the historic Underground
Railroad.

She studied music at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia
with the intention of becoming an opera singer; however, she soon discovered
that her true love was linguistics and the German language. She earned her
bachelor's degree in German and linguistics from the University of
Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school.

During her time at the University of Pennsylvania, she met and
married Robert Rentz. Although they divorced soon after, she often said that he
had been the funniest person she had ever known.

In 1963, newly divorced, she moved with her two young children,
Susan and Mark (Andrew), to Boulder, Colorado, to pursue her master’s degree in
German and linguistics. During her studies, she met the true love of her life,
Robert Todd Firestone. They married in 1970, and in 1973, after being awarded a
Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder, she became an assistant
professor at the University of Missouri in Columbia. She eventually gained
tenure and became chair of the Germanic and Slavic Languages Department, a
position she held for many years.

In the late 1980s, she moved to Hays, Kansas, where she became
chair of the Modern Languages Department at Fort Hays State University, a
position she held until her retirement. In 2000 she was awarded the Fort Hays
State University President’s Distinguished Scholar Award, a prestigious award
that is given to only one faculty member each year, recognizing her excellence
in research within her field of study.

She leaves behind two children: Mark Andrew and Susan (Doug); one
grandchild, Katharine Abdoo (Sean); and two great-grandchildren, Brie and Will
Abdoo. Her brother, John (Patricia), predeceased her.

She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish and a supporter of
its food pantry, she also was very involved in community theater, appearing in
many plays alongside her husband, Robert. A strong supporter of the Fort Hays
State University theater and music departments, she also supported local
artists and was an active member for many years of the Friends of the Hays
Public Library. She firmly believed that every child should have at least one
book of their own.

She wrote many articles for the Hays Daily News and The Hays Post,
reviewing local plays and musical events. In the early 2000s, she was awarded a
grant to attend an institute in New York for individuals who write
entertainment reviews.

She traveled to Germany many times and was deeply grateful to have
lived to see the fall of the Berlin Wall and to visit East Germany. She and her
husband, Robert, were generous philanthropists who supported many organizations
through their charitable donations.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 25, 2025, at
1:00 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 215 West 13th Street Hays, Kansas
67601. Ruth's family will receive guests from 12:00 until service time with
Inurnment following the mass in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery - Hays.

Ruth Firestone

Gene P. Chrisler, 85, of
Natoma, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Hays Medical
Center in Hays, Kansas.

Gene was born May 12, 1940 in
Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; He was one of five children to H. Donald and Leona
(Jantzen) Chrisler.&nbsp; He grew up on the Saline River west of Fairport,
Kansas.&nbsp; He graduated from Natoma High School.

Gene met, fell in love, and
was united in marriage to Dorene Reich on September 6, 1959 in Russell.&nbsp;
This union was blessed with three children; Teresa, Andrea and Anthony.&nbsp;
They made their home west of Natoma for three years before moving to the farm
south of Natoma.

Gene was a Rancher and Farmer
most all of his life. He took great pride in raising horned Hereford and Angus
cattle and Poco Bueno bred cow horses and strived to be a steward of the land
for the livestock and wildlife.&nbsp; He enjoyed collecting western
memorabilia, guns, and knives.&nbsp; He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing,
and spending time with his livestock. A school board member for Natoma and then
the joint Natoma, Paradise, Waldo School District, Gene worked hard to ensure
area families would have a quality education, including all his grandchildren.
He was a long time AQHA member and a member of the Russell Masonic Lodge and
Isis Shrine.&nbsp; 

Gene’s surviving family
include his wife of 66 years, Dorene of the home; daughters, Teresa Reimer
(Jim) of Paradise, Kansas and Andrea Chambray (David) of Natoma, Kansas; son,
Anthony Chrisler (Melissa) of Natoma, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Clint Griffin,
Dodge City, Kansas, Benjamin Griffin (Janine), Hays, Kansas, Lincoln Griffin
(Alisha) Waxahachie, Texas, Riley Chrisler (Adreinne), Natoma, Kansas, Jacob
Chambray (Fernanda), Hays, Kansas, Kayley Marcin (Mack) Cherry Creek, New York,
Doran Griffin (Ciaralyn), Platte City, Missouri, Hannah Chambray (Weston
Sommers) Hutchinson, Kansas, Carley Chrisler (Kyler Smith), Salina, Kansas:
four step-grandchildren, Jessica Roberts (Darren), Shields, Kansas, Jacob
Reimer (Ashlyn) Smithville, Missouri, Janelyn Nichols, (Jared), Dodge City,
Kanas, Juliette Cain (Champ), Stillwater, Oklahoma; and seven

Natoma, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Hays Medical
Center in Hays, Kansas.Gene was born May 12, 1940 in
Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; He was one of five children to H. Donald and Leona
(Jantzen) Chrisler.&nbsp; He grew up on the Saline River west of Fairport,
Kansas.&nbsp; He graduated from Natoma High School.Gene met, fell in love, and
was united in marriage to Dorene Reich on September 6, 1959 in Russell.&nbsp;
This union was blessed with three children; Teresa, Andrea and Anthony.&nbsp;
They made their home west of Natoma for three years before moving to the farm
south of Natoma.Gene was a Rancher and Farmer
most all of his life. He took great pride in raising horned Hereford and Angus
cattle and Poco Bueno bred cow horses and strived to be a steward of the land
for the livestock and wildlife.&nbsp; He enjoyed collecting western
memorabilia, guns, and knives.&nbsp; He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing,
and spending time with his livestock. A school board member for Natoma and then
the joint Natoma, Paradise, Waldo School District, Gene worked hard to ensure
area families would have a quality education, including all his grandchildren.
He was a long time AQHA member and a member of the Russell Masonic Lodge and
Isis Shrine.&nbsp; Gene’s surviving family
include his wife of 66 years, Dorene of the home; daughters, Teresa Reimer
(Jim) of Paradise, Kansas and Andrea Chambray (David) of Natoma, Kansas; son,
Anthony Chrisler (Melissa) of Natoma, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Clint Griffin,
Dodge City, Kansas, Benjamin Griffin (Janine), Hays, Kansas, Lincoln Griffin
(Alisha) Waxahachie, Texas, Riley Chrisler (Adreinne), Natoma, Kansas, Jacob
Chambray (Fernanda), Hays, Kansas, Kayley Marcin (Mack) Cherry Creek, New York,
Doran Griffin (Ciaralyn), Platte City, Missouri, Hannah Chambray (Weston
Sommers) Hutchinson, Kansas, Carley Chrisler (Kyler Smith), Salina, Kansas:
four step-grandchildren, Jessica Roberts (Darren), Shields, Kansas, Jacob
Reimer (Ashlyn) Smithville, Missouri, Janelyn Nichols, (Jared), Dodge City,
Kanas, Juliette Cain (Champ), Stillwater, Oklahoma; and seven
great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.Gene was preceded in death by
his parents; brothers, Eldon Chrisler, Delmar Chrisler and Ralph Chrisler; and

Gene P. Chrisler

Thomas Dale Potter, age 76, of
WaKeeney, Kansas passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Wesley Medical
Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on October 23, 1948, in Lexington,
Nebraska to Warren and Elsie (Tietz) Potter. He married Deborah Ann (McGinnis)
on February 22, 1971, in Santa Ana, California. She preceded him in death on
May 17, 2021, after 50 years of marriage.

Tom was a man
whose hands told the story of a full and hardworking life. For over 50 years,
he traveled the open roads throughout the United States as a devoted truck
driver, often with his wife, children, or grandchildren riding alongside him in
the passenger seat as his 'navigator.' Wherever he went, he had a gift for
turning strangers into friends through his remarkable storytelling, his talent
for making people laugh, and his indelible willingness to lend a helping hand
to those in need. 

When he wasn’t on
the road, he poured that same steady dedication into the things and people he
loved the most: his family, his home, and his crafts. With a patience and
creativity that reflected his gentle spirit, he worked alongside his wife as an
avid quilter, creating pieces that brought color and warmth to those around
him.

Later in
life, he found a love for diamond painting, spending his days of retirement
creating dazzling works, always with the intention of gifting them to those
around him. He was a man of simple joys, endless stories, and a kindness that
left a mark on every person lucky enough to know him.

Thomas is
survived by his daughters, Laurie Van Ingen, Bellingham, WA; Stacey Potter,
Hays, KS; his siblings, Judy Sabag, AR; Michael Potter, CA; his seven
grandchildren, Amy; Anna; Gerri; Amber; Jennifer; Matthew; and Justin; his
three great-grandchildren, Olivia; Kaido; and Charlie. 

He was preceded
in death by his parents, Warren and Elsie (Tietz) Potter; wife, Deborah
(McGinnis) Potter; and his daughter, Michele Potter, 

Graveside
Services and Inurnment will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 25, with Reverend
John Anderson officiating at the WaKeeney City Cemetery in WaKeeney, Kansas.

Marjorie
‘Marge’ Ann (Karlin) Weishaar, 87, resident of Colby, died peacefully at her
home with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025. She
was born August 2nd, 1938, in Hays, KS, the daughter of Joseph and
Mary (Schoendaller) Karlin. She attended grade school in Catherine, KS and high
school at Girls Catholic High School (now Thomas More Prep-Marian) in Hays
graduating in 1956. She married William ‘Bill’ Joseph Weishaar from Gem, KS on
August 22, 1959, in Catherine. They moved to Colby in 1959 where she resided
until her passing. She worked at St. Thomas Hospital in the Medical Records
department and then at the K-State Farm Management office doing income taxes
for local farmers until her retirement in 2003. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Marge
was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Queen Mary Circle.&nbsp;
She was also a member of the 'Wednesday Ladies Eat Out' and volunteered with
the Hospital Pink Ladies, Northwest Kansas RSVP and Prairie Museum of Art &amp;
History to name a few.&nbsp; She and Bill were active in the Golden Buckle
Square Dance Club of Colby and served as officers. She enjoyed traveling with
friends and family, sports of all types, cross-stitching and a variety of other
hobbies, but family was her number one priority for her entire life.&nbsp;
Marge was a private and thoughtful person whose life centered around her church
and her loved ones. Those who knew her will remember her for her kindness,
honesty and gentle spirit.

Marge
was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers Norman and Marvin
Karlin, sisters Mildred Schmeidler, Helen Preston Koester and Rita Befort and
grandson Michael Evans Weishaar. Survivors include three sons and their
families, Mark and Wendy (Frahm) Weishaar of Colby, KS, Gary and Beth (Wiseman)
Weishaar of Manhattan, KS, Dean and Stefanie (Knox) Weishaar of Lenexa, KS;
grandson Parker of Colby, KS, granddaughter Amanda Finney (BJ) of Manhattan,
KS, grandson Derrick of New York, NY, grandson Colby (Megan) of Denver, CO and
granddaughter Chloe of Lenexa, KS: great-grandchildren Zoey, Benjamin and
Bradley Finney of Manhattan, KS; sister Patricia Brungardt of Hays, KS and many
nieces &amp; nephews.&nbsp; 

Services
will be at 11:00 am on Monday, October 27th, 2025, at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Colby, with Father Brian Lager officiating. Graveside
services to follow. Visitation will be Sunday, October 26th from 3 –

Marjorie ‘Marge’ Ann (Karlin) Weishaar

Garry H. Batt, 81, of rural
Russell, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at his home with his
wife by his side.

Garry was born October 29, 1943
in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; He was one of three
children to Herman and Esther (Elsasser) Batt.&nbsp;
He grew up in northern Barton County and graduated from Hoisington High
School in 1961.&nbsp; He then attended and
graduated from the Missouri Auction School in Kansas City, Missouri.&nbsp; He served his country in the US Army from
1962 to 1964 and saw active duty in Vietnam.&nbsp;
After his tour of duty, he returned to northern Barton County.

Garry met, fell in love, and was
united in marriage to Ellen Boxberger on October 23, 1965 in Milberger,
Kansas.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two
sons; Terry and Tom.&nbsp; They lived in
Milberger for a short time before moving out to the farm.

Garry was a Farmer and
Rancher.&nbsp; He also was owner and operator
of Garry Batt Real Estate Auction and worked with Don Krug with K&amp;B Auction
Service.&nbsp; He was very active in trap
shooting contests for many years.&nbsp; He was
an oil pumper for many years and did dirt work for H.S. Radke.&nbsp; He served on the Township Board for 35 years.&nbsp; He was a member of the American Trap
Association and the Kansas Trap Association and was a life member of the
Russell V.F.W. #6240.&nbsp; He loved playing
Polka with the Dutchmasters and the Polka Kings.&nbsp; In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and
traveling around with Ellen.

Garry’s surviving family include
his wife of 59 years, Ellen of the home; son, Tom Batt (Sandy) of Russell,
Kansas; sister, Shirley Dewald of Russell, Kansas; two grandchildren,
Christopher Batt and Cody Batt; two step grandchildren, Craig Boos and Jakob
Boos; three great grandchildren, Sophia Batt, Hagen Batt, and Cheyenne Batt;
and step great grandchild, Claire Boos.

Garry was preceded in death by
his parents; son, Terry Batt; and sister, Arletta Batt.

Celebration of Garry’s Life will
be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church of
Russell.&nbsp; Burial will follow at the
Trinity Bender Hill Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation
will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2025 at

Garry H. Batt

Dale Raymond Diederich, age 88, passed
away peacefully, in his sleep on October 12, 2025, at Good&nbsp;Samaritan
Society retirement home in Olathe, Kansas.&nbsp;

Dale was born on June 17, 1937. He was
preceded in death by his parents Julius and May (Weaver) Diederich, his brother
Jerry (Gabby)&nbsp;Diederich, his sisters Marlene, (Molly) Brin, Leona (Butch)
Clark, Janet Levenstein, and niece Jeannie Hammerick.

Dale graduated from Selden High School
and Kansas City Trade School as an auto mechanic. Dale married Betty Wassinger
on November 29, 1958 in Hays, Kansas. They were members of St. Joseph Catholic
Church. He was also briefly married to Doris Ford. Both have preceded him in
death.&nbsp; From the union of Dale and Betty were born two children, a
daughter, Donna Rowley and son, David Diederich.

Dale was the lead mechanic at the Hays
Chevrolet/Oldsmobile dealership for over 30 years and then employed at Hays
Pathology Labs until retirement. Dale also farmed and custom cut wheat. He
enjoyed weekends at the lake with family and friends which included camping,
boating, and fishing. He also enjoyed bowling, trap shooting, and hunting.

Dale is survived by a brother: Dennis
(Denny) Diederich (Sandy); sister: Darla Zerr (Albert); sister-in-law: Dorothy
Diederich-Kristler (Don); brothers-in-law; Carol Brin and Jerry Clark;
daughter: Donna Rowley (John); son: David Diederich (Christina); six
grandchildren: Jennifer Bright (Sean), Jessie Rowley (Danielle), Amy Shelton
(Michael), Alexis Buls (Adam), Hannah Shackelford (Adam), and Sierra Diederich;
13 great grandchildren, 13 nieces, and 12 nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden, Kansas at 10:30AM on October 30,
2025 with Father Mathew officiating. Burial will be in the Selden Cemetery with

Minnie Lou Krannawitter, 93, former Hays, KS, resident, died
Monday, October 13, 2025, at Otterbein-Springboro Senior Life in Centerville,
OH. She was born January 6, 1932, in Selden, KS, to Oliver A. and Elsie I.
(Bosworth) Shrader. She married Wilfred W. Krannawitter in Hoxie, KS, on
October 28, 1950. He died in 1970.

Minnie grew up during the Great Depression and learned the
importance of hard work and frugality. She and her husband Wilfred farmed near
Hoxie for several years. When he became seriously ill and could no longer farm,
she had to take care of him and raise her sons by herself; they later moved to
Hays.

After Wilfred’s death, she worked as a ward clerk at St. Anthony
Hospital, as an assembler at the Travenol factory, as a cook at Thomas More
Prep high school, as a nurse assistant at the Good Samaritan Society nursing
home, and later at Hays Medical Center, where she obtained her Certified
Nursing Assistant training and license. Minnie will be remembered as a
kindhearted, generous, and dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by her two sons Michael J. Krannawitter (Maria
Sarratud) of Kettering, OH, and Jon W. Krannawitter (Kathleen Mar) of Garden
City, KS, as well as three grandchildren: Angela M. Krannawitter (Joshua
Weinstein) of Kettering, Josue E. Krannawitter (Addison Heptig) of Wichita, KS,
and Amy L. Krannawitter (Jaron Zamarripa) of Garden City. Minnie is also
survived by seven great-grandchildren: David A. Weinstein, Elizabeth M.
Weinstein, Marcus G. Krannawitter, William J. Krannawitter, Zaylyn N. Krannawitter,
Geddy Zamarripa, and Benmont Zamarripa. Also left to mourn her passing are her
sister Margaret Tripp, sister-in-law Marie Bjorklund Shrader (widow of James
Shrader), and many nieces and nephews.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a
grandson David J. Krannawitter, and her siblings Al Shrader (Barbara Stegman),
Frances Pryor (William), Katherine McKinzie (Vergil), James Shrader, and Mabel

Marilyn (Truan) Riedel went to heaven. Mom was a farm girl who grew up south of
Gorham, KS and married John M Riedel Jr a couple months after graduating from high
school. Dad was a farm boy from the next town over in Walker, KS. Their early
years were spent in Hays, KS until moving to Salina, KS in 1981. Mom was an
active member of the Salina community until moving to Overland Park, KS shortly
after dad's passing in 2001. We couldn't begin to put mom's beautiful life into
words so we ask those that knew mom to reminisce on happy memories spent with
her. 

A funeral Mass will be
held at St. Ann’s in Walker, KS on Friday, 14 November 2025 at 10:30am. Mass
will be followed by interment at St. Ann’s cemetery in Walker. Friends and
family are invited to lunch following the interment at the Walker school hall. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Marilyn is survived by her
three children - Amy Riedel of Overland Park, J.L. Riedel and his wife Jayme of
Salina, and Ann Ewy of Lenexa; four grandchildren - Jack, John, Makenzie, and
JJ; her brother Rick Truan of Gorham, KS and sister Jerilyn Esfeld of Great

Darlene (Dinkel) Braun age 83, of
Victoria, Kansas, left to greet our Lord on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Hays
Medical Center, after a brief illness.&nbsp;She was born February 18, 1942, in
Hays, Kansas, to Andrew and Felicitas 'Flitz' (Hertel) Dinkel.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;

She was born the eldest to a twin sister, Marlene, and 11 years later they were
given the gift of their baby brother, Floyd.&nbsp; She attended St. Mary’s
Elementary School in Ellis, Kansas, and graduated from Ellis High School in the
class of 1960.&nbsp; After graduation, she moved to Hays and worked at St.
Anthony Hospital for two years and did some babysitting on the side for some
very dear friends.&nbsp; It was through them that she met and fell in love with
LaVern J. Braun of Victoria.&nbsp; They were married on May 4, 1963, at Ellis,
Kansas, and moved to Victoria to work and raise a family.&nbsp; He preceded her
in death on October 31, 2013.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

This union blessed them with two ornery boys, Richard (Rick) and Terry.&nbsp;
Darlene worked at St. John‘s Rest Home for 23 years as a cook, housekeeper, and
as the office manager, where she met many wonderful staff, residents, and
family members who became lifelong friends.&nbsp; But Darlene felt she needed a
change, and in 1998, she opened the Hungry Haus Cafe in Victoria, where she
provided home-cooked German meals and desserts until closing in Dec. of
2000.&nbsp; She then went to work at&nbsp;Sunflower Bank in Victoria where she
worked as a teller until her retirement in May 2013.&nbsp; Darlene never knew a
stranger and always greeted everyone with a smile and a story of how they knew
each other.
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Though she loved her work-family and friends, her true
love was her own family.&nbsp; She was lucky enough to celebrate 50 years of
marriage with LaVern, her best friend who always kept her on her toes.
Together, they raised those two ornery boys into two hard working men who
learned the value of prideful work and the willingness to jump in and help
others when needed. They moved to the farm in 1979 where the boys began
learning to live the life of the land by farming with their dad and
grandparents.

Rick married Janice (Zerr) in 1985, and they were blessed with a daughter,
Jenna, and son, Lane.&nbsp; Terry married Krista (Rathbun) in 1996, and they
were blessed with two boys, Jacy and Walker. Darlene loved spending time with
her grandchildren, and later, great-grandchildren, watching them in 4-H and
sporting activities throughout their careers.&nbsp;

Of course, her favorite sport was football, and she was a proud Victoria
Knights fan cheering in the stands for years.&nbsp; Even when she didn’t have
grandchildren playing, that did not stop her from watching or listening to all
the football games!&nbsp; Darlene was blessed with two great-grandsons, Gentry
and Braxton Dempewolf, and adored all their hugs and kisses, but especially
enjoyed sharing her Kindle with them for some fun Grammy screen-time. She was
also blessed with one great-granddaughter, Gracie, who loves to smile, wave,
and say, 'Hi Grammy!'&nbsp; &nbsp; 

She is survived by her sons, Rick Braun and wife,
Janice, Victoria, KS; Terry Braun and wife, Krista, Victoria, KS; her
grandchildren, Jenna Dempewolf (Andrew), Gorham, KS; Lane Braun (Arrica),
Victoria, KS;&nbsp; Walker Braun (Kayla), Victoria; KS; her great

Darlene (Dinkel) Braun

Ruth S. Kirtland, 89, Hays passed
away Monday, October 20, 2025 at Hays Good Samaritan Society.

She was born May 15, 1936, the
daughter of John O. and Virginia B. (Oldham) Kirtland at Hadley Hospital in
Hays. &nbsp;She was among the first premature
babies to thrive in an “incubator” newly available to hospitals. 

To family and friends, Ruth’s
extraordinary sense of adventure and love of life brought many experiences at
home, and especially in her career as a teacher of elementary aged
students&nbsp;overseas&nbsp;on U.S. Air Force bases.&nbsp;&nbsp;After schooling
at Hays High School, Fort Hays State,&nbsp;and Kansas State University, she
began her teaching career in Casper, Wyoming.&nbsp;&nbsp;There she learned of
the program for teachers to work and live abroad on&nbsp;U. S.
Air&nbsp;Force&nbsp;bases.&nbsp;&nbsp;In 1963, she took at position in
Adana,&nbsp;Turkey&nbsp;at Incirlik.&nbsp; The
following two years she taught in England at Alconbury.&nbsp; Her next assignment to Tripoli, Libya in
1966-67 was interrupted by the evacuation of Wheeler Air Force Base due to
the&nbsp;military coup&nbsp;by&nbsp;Muammar Gaddafi.&nbsp; With her personal items packed into one or
two trunks, she flew safely to Madrid, Spain where she taught from
1967-1969.&nbsp;&nbsp;Her trunks were lost then were spotted in a storage room,
and she was&nbsp;ultimately reunited&nbsp;with her belongings. &nbsp;Following her tenure in Spain, where
she&nbsp;purchased&nbsp;an antique Rolls Royce which she painted black and
yellow, she ended her teaching career in Upper Heyford and Bicester England
(1969-1989). &nbsp;This twenty-year life of
teaching in England made her a solid anglophile who&nbsp;later&nbsp;followed
The Royals in American news reports.&nbsp; In England, she owned her own home
and cultivated a proper English garden. At home in Hays, from 1990 on, she gave
her&nbsp;life to caring for her elderly mother with the support of a Hays
contingent of family members.&nbsp;

Those who knew Ruth loved her
sense of humor, her love and generosity, and her&nbsp;tremendous affection for
animals of every kind – feline, canine and even a parrot.&nbsp;&nbsp;

During the war years, Ruth was a
teenager.&nbsp; She was the baby of three
sisters, Joan and Marilyn.&nbsp; In the yard
south of the home on south Main Street grew a mighty Hackberry tree which
supported a swing.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ruth would climb the&nbsp;tree and&nbsp;never
missed an opportunity to whistle at the soldiers walking on the sidewalk, while
one of her sisters innocently swung in the tree.&nbsp; This joyful trickery was not necessarily
appreciated by her sisters.&nbsp;

Many videos of family and friends
chronicle her life, and one might see her atop a camel with Egyptian pyramids
in the backdrop, or in a family favorite – her photo with her mother dangling
in the air above the ski slope in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She is survived by her
sister Joan Kirtland McAfee of Kansas City, Kansas, her nieces Melinda McAfee
and Wanda Osborn (John), her nephews Brian Doerfler (Deanna) and Doug Doerfler
(Debbie), and many great nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her
sister Marilyn Doerfler, her brothers-in-law Alex Doerfler and Troy McAfee, and
two nephews John Doerfler and Carl McAfee. 

Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Hays
Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.&nbsp; Private
family inurnment will be in Mount Allen Cemetery.&nbsp; Memorials are suggested to

she&nbsp;purchased&nbsp;an antique Rolls Royce which she painted black and
yellow, she ended her teaching career in Upper Heyford and Bicester England
(1969-1989). &nbsp;This twenty-year life of
teaching in England made her a solid anglophile who&nbsp;later&nbsp;followed
The Royals in American news reports.&nbsp; In England, she owned her own home
and cultivated a proper English garden. At home in Hays, from 1990 on, she gave
her&nbsp;life to caring for her elderly mother with the support of a Hays
contingent of family members.&nbsp;Those who knew Ruth loved her
sense of humor, her love and generosity, and her&nbsp;tremendous affection for
animals of every kind – feline, canine and even a parrot.&nbsp;&nbsp;During the war years, Ruth was a
teenager.&nbsp; She was the baby of three
sisters, Joan and Marilyn.&nbsp; In the yard
south of the home on south Main Street grew a mighty Hackberry tree which
supported a swing.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ruth would climb the&nbsp;tree and&nbsp;never
missed an opportunity to whistle at the soldiers walking on the sidewalk, while
one of her sisters innocently swung in the tree.&nbsp; This joyful trickery was not necessarily
appreciated by her sisters.&nbsp;Many videos of family and friends
chronicle her life, and one might see her atop a camel with Egyptian pyramids
in the backdrop, or in a family favorite – her photo with her mother dangling
in the air above the ski slope in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.&nbsp;&nbsp;She is survived by her
sister Joan Kirtland McAfee of Kansas City, Kansas, her nieces Melinda McAfee
and Wanda Osborn (John), her nephews Brian Doerfler (Deanna) and Doug Doerfler
(Debbie), and many great nieces and nephews.She was proceeded in death by her parents, her
sister Marilyn Doerfler, her brothers-in-law Alex Doerfler and Troy McAfee, and
two nephews John Doerfler and Carl McAfee. Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Hays
Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.&nbsp; Private

John
Lee 'Jack' Ostmeyer, 85, of Oakley, died Friday, October 17, 2025.

Jack
was born July 9, 1940, in Oakley, the son of Tony and Armella (Schwebach)
Ostmeyer. Jack was a proud Oakley Plainsman graduating with the class of 1958.

Jack
married Billie Munk in 1960. Together they had three sons, Jeff, Pat, and Todd.
After Billi's passing in 1967 when the boys were 3, 4, and 6, he married Ann
(Mannebach-Ryan) in 1969 to which two children, Lisa and Rex were born.

Farm
related occupations were his life choice having careers in IHC parts and
service, hay grinding, Moormans feed sales, and farming the land.

Throughout
his life Jack was active in his Catholic faith. He was a member of the Knights
of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degrees, as well as the Loyal Order of Elks, holding
offices in each organization. Sports were also a big part of his life, playing
many holes of golf, and watching countless Wildcat, Chiefs, and Royals games.
Later in life he enjoyed reading and was an avid collector of anything John
Wayne.

Survivors include his wife Ann; children,
Jeff (Karen), Pat, Todd (Ann), Lisa (Tim) Zenger, and Rex (Paula); thirteen
grandchildren, Brandon (Roxanne), Kayla (Brandon) Potts, Nicholas, Jacob
(Madeline), Brittany (Austin) Feyh, Keegan (Shawnna) Dick, Amber Dick, April
(Travis) Vonfeldt, Jackilyn (Jeffrey) (Zenger) Blundon, Scuyler Zenger, Shailyn
Zenger, Emily, and Natalie; ten great-grandchildren, Avalyn, Emmett, Rowan,
Keeleigh (Brenden) Steinert, Grayson, Parker, Jordan, Remington, and one
great-great grandchild Briggs, as well as his five siblings Stan, Joyce, Lynn,
Dixie, and Rick.

Preceding
him in death were his wife Billie, his parents, and his parents-in-law from
each marriage.

Visitation
is 5-7:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at
Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m.
on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Oakley with
Fr. Jesse Ochs officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Oakley.

John Lee 'Jack' Ostmeyer

AnnaBell married Bernard Herman Ostmeyer on October 28, 1947. Eight children were born to Ben and AnnaBell:  Timothy Bernard Ostmeyer (deceased); Carol Ann Cooper of Hoxie, Kansas; Deborah Dea Ochs (Daniel) of Grainfield, Kansas; Margaret Marie Pope (Wally) of Skiatook, Oklahoma; Angela Mary Pope (Jon) of Manhattan, Kansas; Catherine Jane White (Harry) of Monument, Colorado; Charles James Ostmeyer (Cindy) of Milford, Kansas; and Jessica Jo Ostmeyer of Hill City, Kansas.  AnnaBell was a Grandmother to 22, Great-Grandmother to 54, and Great-Great-Grandmother to 10.

For over 50 years, AnnaBell nurtured children with love, patience, and compassion. She was a guide and mentor to countless families in Hoxie. AnnaBell’s home was more than a daycare, it was a safe haven where laughter echoed, tiny hands held, skinned knees kissed, and young hearts and minds shaped. AnnaBell had a gift for making her daycare parents and children feel seen and cherished and her impact will live on through the many lives she touched. Parents trusted AnnaBell for the genuine care and connection she shared with them and their children.

When her day at the daycare ended, AnnaBell shared her great musical talent. She found joy as an organist at church and as a piano teacher to many children and their children in later years.

AnnaBell is preceded in death by her husband, Ben; son, Tim; son-in-law, Gregg Cooper; and grandsons-in-law, Adam Creamer and George Modricin, as well as her father and mother; brothers, Bill, Charlie, Francis, Jim, and Bobby, and sisters, Bea and Rose Marie.

Left surviving AnnaBell are her children and their families, Carol, Deb, Marge, Angie, Cathy, Charlie, and Jessica, and her brother, Denny Beckman, of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Mass of Christian Burial iwill be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, 10:30 AM, St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Hoxie, Kansas with burial in the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Cemetery.
