🏐 Tiger duo claims MIAA weekly honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State's Ella Goodwin and Annie Eaton have been named MIAA Volleyball Players of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office. The tigers went 3-0 at home last week, sweeping all three opponents, with Goodwin earning Offensive Player of the week honors and Eaton for the second time in as many weeks earning Setter of the Week honors.

Goodwin put together an impressive offensive week on the rights side, averaging 4.00 kills per set while hitting .478 across three matches. The junior recorded 36 kills across nine sets with just four errors on 67 total attempts, while adding 10 digs and three blocks defensively.

The Lenexa, Kan. Native reached double figures in kills in all three contests, opening the week with 15 kills on a .560 attack percentage against Kansas Wesleyan. She followed with 11 kills against Arkansas-Fort Smith before closing the week with 10 kills without an error against Northeastern State, hitting .625 in the match.

Eaton continued to orchestrate another big week for the Tiger offense, averaging 11.2 assists and 4.0 digs per set while adding seven service aces, five blocks and five kills. The sophomore setter recorded more than 30 assists in all three matches, totaling 34 against Kansas Wesleyan, 35 against Arkansas-Fort Smith and 32 against Northeastern State.

Eaton added 16 digs, three blocks and three kills against the Lions while recording five service aces against the Coyotes. She now leads the MIAA in both service aces (29) and total assists (637), helping Fort Hays State rank first in NCAA Division II in both team assists and team kills.

The Tigers improved to 14-6 (3-3 MIAA) on the season following the three-match sweep and will hit the road for their next four matches starting with No. 8 Missouri Western on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
