Margaret Hazel Litton

Margaret Hazel Litton, age 100, died on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas.  She was born on August 28, 1921, in Dalhart, Texas the daughter of W.H. & Annis C. Hogue McQuitty.

She has lived in Lakin since 1998 having moved from Scotty City, Kansas.  She worked multiple jobs, such as a school teacher, and was a vice president of a bank.  She was a 50-year lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, serving as the Grand Ester for several years in the early 1990s.

On April 15, 1940, she married Vern C. Litton in Grinnell, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on September 20, 1977.

Survivors include: Three Children - Larry Vern Litton of Holcomb, Kansas, Linda Lee Berning of Franklin, Nebraska, Leanna Lynn Webb of Deerfield, Kansas; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 10:00 am at the Lakin Wesleyan Church in Lakin, Kansas.

Graveside Committal services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, Kansas, 67846.
