Marva Lee Doud

Marva Lee Doud passed away on Sept. 27, 2021, at Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton at the age of 96. She was born on Sept. 26, 1925, to Lorenzo Rea and Mary Delina (Netherland) Zeigler in rural Rooks County. She was married to John William Doud on Nov. 24, 1951, in Salina. They were blessed with one daughter, Barbara Su.

Marva Lee graduated from Natoma High School in 1943 before moving to Salina to attend Brown Mackie College. She lived in Salina until 2016 before moving to Stockton to be closer to family. While in Salina, she worked for Vernon Jewelers, Pyle Elevator Co., and First Bank of Kansas for 18 years until retiring. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Salina. Marva Lee enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and was a caregiver to many friends.

She is survived by her sister, Geoa Norris of Stockton; niece, Nila Denton of Colorado; nephew, Neal Brown of Natoma; step-nieces and nephew, Tonja Strope, Beverly Hershberger, and Doug Norris; and great-nephews, Michael McShea, Matt McShea, Ryan Brown, and Tyler Brown.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Doud; daughter, Barbara Su Doud; brothers-in-law, Duane Brown and Lowell Norris; and great-nephew, Kit McShea.

A celebration of life graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family receiving friends 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Stockton.
