SHERMAN COUNTY—Two people were injured in two separate accidents just after 5:30p.m. Wednesday in Sherman County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a semi 2001 Western Star semi driven by Erik J. Trochez Izaguirre, 29, Wichita, was eastbound on Interstate 70 four miles west of Goodland.
The driver lost control on the icy-snow packed road. The semi left the road way, entered the median, crossed the westbound lanes and jackknifed in the north ditch.
EMS transported a passenger 50-year-old Oscar Lopez Trochez of Wichita to the hospital in Goodland. Izaguirre was not injured.
At the same time, a 2019 Freightliner semi driven by Muhammad Abusufyan, 37, Brooklyn, New York, was westbound on Interstate 70 five miles west of Goodland. The semi left the roadway entered the median and overturned.
EMS transported Abusufyan to the hospital in Goodland. The drivers in both accidents were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
