2 hospitalized after motorhome blows a tire on I-70

SHERMAN COUNTY— Two people were injured in an accident about  8:30 p.m. Sunday in Sherman County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Freightliner motorhome driven by Richard N. Nielsen, 78,  Saltillo, Mississippi, was westbound on Interstate 70 just east of Goodland. 

The front passenger steer tire blew and the vehicle traveled off the roadway and into the north ditch. The motorhome came to rest on the up slope of the overpass.

EMS transported Nielsen and a passenger Nancy G. Nielsen, 78,  Saltillo, Mississippi, to Goodland Regional Medical Center. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
