VALLEY CENTER – Hays High finished 2-2 at the Valley Center Volleyball Invite on Saturday.
The Indians opened day with a narrow two-set loss to #7-5A Kapaun, with the Crusaders winning 26-24, 25-21. Hays bounced back in pool play by beating #8-4A Wellington in two sets, both by a 25-19 score.
The tournament then seeded each of the three pools into gold, silver and bronze pools for two more matches. Hays’ 1-1 record landed them in the silver pool with Valley Center and Andover. The Indians dispatched of Valley Center 25-15, 25-17. They finished with a two set loss to Andover. The Trojans won 25-19, 25-16.
Hays (4-6) travels to Dodge City on Tuesday for a Western Athletic Conference quadrangular with Liberal, #5-5A Great Bend and the host Red Demons.
