
With the mercury expected to take a drastic nosedive this week, a freeze warning is in effect for most of northwest Kansas overnight Monday and Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in Dodge City is expected the low in the Hays area to drop to 27 degrees early Tuesday morning, with a low of 29 predicted early Wednesday morning.
The highs Monday and Tuesday are only expected to reach the low- to mid-50s. By Wednesday, the temperature will tick back up, with highs in the low- to mid-70s and overnight lows in the low-40s.
Skies are expected to remain clear and calm through the week.
The overnight low early Monday morning was 28 degrees, the K-State Ag Research Center in Hays reported.
