Jolene Alice Barth, 86, of Hays, Kansas, and former Natoma, Kansas, resident died on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society in Hays.
Jolene was born on December 14, 1933, in Rooks County, Kansas, the daughter of Robert J. and Alice Irene (Hartman) Pfortmiller. She grew up in Natoma on the Pfortmiller family farm and graduated from Natoma High School in 1952.
For many years, she worked in Hays, Kansas as a production manager for Stromgren Supports. Later in life, she moved back to Natoma and worked for the City of Natoma as a city clerk before retiring. During retirement, to keep busy, she was the apartment manager for the Paradise Valley Apartments in Natoma. She was a former member of the Red Hat Society, Natoma Historical Society and Natoma V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed swimming, walking, sewing, working in her flower garden and being outdoors. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren who called her Mimi.
Surviving family include her 2 sons Mick Barth and wife Rhonda of Oberlin, Kansas, and Marty Barth and wife MeLinda of Hays, Kansas; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers Gerald, Carol and Larry Pfortmiller.
A graveside service to celebrate Jolene’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the Natoma City Cemetery in Natoma, Kansas. Cremation has been selected by the family and the family will greet guests at the graveside service. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell and Natoma, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
