DODGE CITY – After qualifying for the state semifinals for the first time in school history, the Victoria volleyball team went 0-2 Saturday and finished fourth at the 1A Division I State Tournament at United Wireless Arena.
The Knights, who went 2-1 in pool play on Friday, lost to eventual state champ Spearville 25-14, 25-21 in the semifinals then lost 25-19, 25-20 to Centralia in the third place match.
Spearville, the No. 6 seed, defeated top-seeded Pretty Prairie 25-10, 24-26, 25-19 in the title match.
The Knights cap their most successful season in school history with a 31-8 record.
Central Plains finished third in 1A Division II, losing to Lebo (25-23, 25-20) in the semifinals then defeating Central Christian (25-19, 26-24) in the third place match.
Smith Center won the 2A title. The Lady Red knocked off Ellinwood 25-20, 25-11 in the semifinals then defeated Hillsboro 25-23, 25-12 in the finals.
