Tenth of an inch of rain Friday; 'spectacular Sunday' on the way

Hays received a tenth of an inch of precipitation — a mix of rain and sleet — on Friday as Octoberfest opened, according to the K-State Research Center.

While the mercury dropped dramatically, the low temperature of 49 degrees was far from a record. In 2000, the record low of 21 degrees was recorded.

Weather is predicted to be pleasant in the coming days, with high temperatures ranging from the high 60s to low 80s through Wednesday. Clear skies are expected, except for a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms after midnight Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Dodge City reported.
