TOPEKA - Hays High finished off their regular season schedule with a trip to Topeka to face off with the Topeka High Trojans Friday night. It was the first ever meeting between the two programs. Hays ran just 15 plays on offense in the first half and scored six times on their way to a 42-0 lead by halftime. The Indians left Topeka with a 56-6 victory, moving to 7-1.
The Indian defense forced a punt on the Topeka's first drive and Malik Bah scored one play later on a 61 yard run. It was the first of four drives in the first half that took just one play for Hays to score. Kyrese scored on a 23 yard run, Keamonie Archie twice on pass plays, Bah scored a second time then Carter Graham scored from 38 yards out.
Highlights
The Indians pulled most of their starters by halftime and featured an all freshmen offensive line in the second half. Hays gave up a 50 yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Brock Summers and Jesse Taggart each scored fourth quarter rushing touchdowns and combined with a Brett Rhoades two point conversion made up the difference of 56-6.
Hays gave up -15 yard rushing and a total of 140 yards on the night. The Indians totaled 362 yards on the offensive side.
The Indians move to 7-1. They will face Wichita West at Lewis Field Stadium next week to start postseason action. Topeka falls to 1-7.
