The former city manager of Hays, Randy Gustafson, 78, passed away August 11, 2026, at his home in Hays.
"I want to send our condolences on behalf of the city, to the former City Manager Randy Gustafson family on his passing," said Mason Ruder, mayor, during Thursday's Hays City Commission meeting.
Gustafson preceded the current city manager, Toby Dougherty, serving from 2002 to 2007.
"We appreciate the service he gave our community and our prayers are with his family at this time," Ruder said.
