Kenneth Ray Baker

Kenneth Ray Baker, 81, passed away on March 21, 2021, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. He was born on December 15, 1939, in Ava, Missouri, the son of Manferd and Nadine (Bell) Baker.

Kenneth was a conservation technician for the Soil Conservation Service for 27 years from 1968 – 1995. He began farming in 1986. He loved farming and especially working with farmers. He was a member of the Bazine City Council, Wet Walnut Watershed Board, and the Bazine Coop Board. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bazine and Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City. He had served as Sunday School Treasurer and Superintendent as well as trustee. He married Louise Schriock on June 4, 1961, in Bazine, Kansas. He had a special place in his heart for his children, grandchildren and especially the great grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and teasing them.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Baker of Bazine; 2 sons, Terry (Carolyn) Baker of Wichita, Roger (Connie) Baker of Bazine; brother, Don Baker of Fort Collins, CO; 2 sisters, Marie Bray of North Glenn, CO, Shirley Schreiner of Prescott Valley, AZ; 5 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-greatgrandchild. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Connie Ann Baker, and an infant brother, Timoth Baker. Funeral service will be on Friday, March 26, 2021, 11:00 A.M., at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas. Burial in the Bazine Cemetery, Bazine, Kansas. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral

Home, from 9:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday and Thursday with the family present on Thursday, March 25, 2021, from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.
