SPEARVILLE – The Ellis softball team defeated Bucklin 11-7 to advance to their 2-1A regional title game but lost 15-0 to host Spearville Tuesday.
The Railers end their season with a 17-6 record.
Game 1: Ellis 11, Bucklin 7
The Railers built a 10-1 lead then
held off a late rally by the Red Aces.
Ellis scored two in the first on a Michelle Gottschalk triple then added a run in the second on a B Born double and another run in the third on a double from Gottschalk to go up 4-0.
The Railers plateed six in the fourth then added another run in the fifth for the 10-1 lead. Kaydawn Haag drove in two of the runs in the sixth with a single. Hannah Schiel drove in a run with a double and later scored on an error.
Bucklin rallied with two in the bottom of the fifth then scored four in the bottom of the seventh.
Schiel and Gottschalk both had three hits. Haag and Gottschalk both drove in three runs.
Haag allowed three runs on nine hits over six innings and picked up the win in the circle.
Game 2: Spearville 15, Ellis 0 (3
innings)
The host Royals Lancers (21-2)
scored 14 runs in the second for the three-inning run-rule victory.
Kaydawn Haag took the loss allowing two earned runs on eight hits in 1 2/3 innings.
