Moisture gap closes as Hays get nearly 2 inches of rain in 24 hours

Much needed and mostly welcome rain continued to fall in Hays Tuesday.

The official measurement from the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town was 1.85 inches the past 24 hours, until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

May's average moisture total yield is 3.24 inches. With a week still left in the month, Hays has already received 4.73 inches of rain.

The 153-year cumulative annual average has also been met, nearly.

By the end of May, Hays normally gets 7.81 inches of mixed moisture. Today's total stands at 7.78 inches.

The three-day weather forecast calls for continued rain today with sunshine and warmer temperatures returning Thursday.
