Caren Louise Bates

Caren Louise Bates, a resident of Sulphur, Okla., was born June 27, 1938, in Ellis, Kansas, to Oswald & Elizabeth (Lashell) Deutcher. She passed away Friday January 21, 2022, at Sulphur at the age of 83.

Caren grew up in Ellis, where she graduated from High School. She was a graduated of Kansas State University. Caren had worked as a radiologist technician. She was married to Robert Jackson Bates on December 2, 1961, in Ellis, Kansas. He preceded her in death May 25, 1984.

She was a member of Sulphur United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents: a son Trent Bates.

She is survived by her Sons & their spouses, Todd and Cindy Bates and Tim and Kelly Bates all of Sulphur, OK; a sister: Claudia Schaus and husband Richard, of Ellis; Grandchildren, Tomi-Anne Grisham & Jeff, Grant Bates & Megan; Tanner Bates & Kelsie, Tori Burba & Matt; Haleigh Bates, & Jackson Bates 8 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday January 26, 2022, at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637. Burial will follow in Mt Hope Cemetery, Ellis. Officiant will be Pastor John Morley III.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral chapel.
