James Bogert

James Markley Bogert was born June 2, 1960, to Harvey & Maurine (Markley) Bogert in Lawrence, KS. He departed this life on October 23, 2020, at the age of 60.

He graduated from River Road High School in Amarillo, Texas and attended some college. He lived in Texas a number of years before settling in Quinter. While living in Texas he worked as a chef and he always enjoyed cooking. He was a man of many talents, loved people, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

James was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church on August 9, 1992, to which he remained faithful until death.

On September 10, 1994, James married Gladys Knepper of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, daughter of Leigh and MaryAnn Knepper. To this union were born 4 children, Megan, Cody, Jesse and Bradley.

James held various jobs in the community before starting his own business, Main Street Services, including plumbing, heating and air conditioning, and miscellaneous services. 

He will be missed and remembered by his wife, daughter Megan (Madison) Bowman; sons Cody Bogert, Jesse Bogert, and Bradley Bogert; grandchildren Mandy, Mason, and Mahlan Bowman; mother and stepfather Maurine and Arthur Hopkins; father and mother-in-law Leigh and MaryAnn Knepper; brother John (Cindy) Bogert; sister Mary Alice Bogert; brothers-in-law Curtis (Erma) Knepper, Loren (Crystal) Knepper; step-brothers Kenneth (Arlene) Hopkins and Wayne (Gail) Hopkins, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding James in death is his father, Harvey Bogert.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Old German Baptist Church in Quinter.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Old German Baptist Church Quinter. Burial will take place immediately following the service at the church cemetery.
