Firma Jean “Jeannie” (Rupp) Rome, age 75, of St. Peter, Kansas passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Hays Medical Center. She was born February 13, 1945 in Hays to Richard and Isabelle (Geist) Rupp. On July 15, 1961 she married Sylvanus “Syl” Rome at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis.
Jeannie was a homemaker and helped farm with Syl. She also was a State Commodity Distributor for Hill City and St. Peter and she did Home Interior Design. She enjoyed gardening and attending her children and grand children’s activities. Jeannie was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in WaKeeney, Ellis Daughters of Isabella and the Ellis VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Syl Rome of St. Peter, Kansas; two sons, Dennis Rome of St. Peter and James Rome and wife Sandy of Ellis; a daughter, Lucinda Smith of Alma, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Malinda Deel and three brothers, Francis, Robert Sr., and Marvin Rupp.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, August 24, 2020 at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday 5 PM – 8 PM with a combined D of I rosary and parish vigil service at 7 PM and Monday visitation 9 AM until service time all at St. Mary’s Church.
