
Margarita Betancourt, age 68, of Colby, was born in Brownfield TX on
September 4, 1952 to Margarita (Rodriguez) and Sebero Garcia. She passed
away on January 3, 2021 at Swedish Medical in Englewood Colorado due to
complications from COVID.
Margarita was a housewife and mother to her daughter Joanna. In 2001 she
married Enrique Betancourt. Before surviving from a horrific auto
accident in 1991 that resulted in disability, she cared for her parents
and will be always fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews for
the tender love she supplied to many through the years.
Her infectious laugh and humor will be sadly missed. She enjoyed
crocheting, cooking, and spending time with family. She was a member of
the Colby Independent Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, brothers Joe,
Thomas, Raymond, Leon and Rudy, and sisters Sylvia Gonzalez, Belle Ruiz,
and Ophelia Falcon.
Surviving her are her husband Enrique; brothers Josafat Garcia, Louis
Garcia, of Colby, KS, Junior Garcia, Lubbock, TX, Rudy Garcia, Fort
Collins, CO, sisters, Paula Garate, Garden City, KS, Ophelia Betancourt,
Hays, KS, Carmen Martin, Westminster, CO, Rosa Garcia & Rosalinda
Whisnant, of Brewster, KS; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family requests masks be worn to the services. Visitation is
scheduled Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby, from
5pm – 7 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 10 am January 7,
2021 at the Colby Independent Baptist Church with burial in Beulah
Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to help with funeral expenses and can
