The National Weather Service in Dodge City is predicting high temperatures near 60 on Saturday and Sunday — 10 to 20 degrees above the average high for mid-January.
Saturday will bring gusty south winds, which are expected to calm by Sunday.
The high Monday and Tuesday is still expected to to the mid-40s to low-50s. But on Wednesday, wintry weather is expected to return.
A strong winter storm is expected to impact the Great Plains on Wednesday, bringing the potential for heavy snow and travel impacts, the NWS warned, noting the track of the storm has yet to be determined.
As of Friday afternoon, there was a 40 percent chance of rain or snow in the Hays area Wednesday.
