RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Fort Hays State's Talexa Weeter has been named the 2025-26 D2CCA Central Region Player of the Year, announced Thursday (March 12) by the Conference Commissioners Association.

Weeter is the second Tiger to earn regional player of the year status (Kate Lehman, 2014-15) and is the eighth All-Region selection for FHSU during the DII era.

The junior is in the midst of a breakout season, leading all Division II and ranking second across all levels of NCAA women's basketball with an average of 27.0 points per game. She has scored 783 points through 29 games, 14 shy of the MIAA record. Weeter is the fifth MIAA player and the second at FHSU to score 700 points in a season.

A native of Goodland, Kan., Weeter scored in double figures in all 29 games and 39-straight dating back to last season. She's scored 20-plus 24 times, including 11 games with 30 or more points and one game with 45 points, one shy of the program record and tied for second-most in a single game by a DII player this season.

Weeter racked up eight double-doubles on the year, ranking third in the MIAA with an average of 8.8 rebounds per contest. She is second in the league with a field goal percentage of 51.2 percent and earned five MIAA Player of the Week honors before also taking home the MIAA Player of the Year award.

The 14th-ranked Tigers will open play in the 2026 NCAA Division II Championship against No. 20 Harding in the quarterfinal round of the Central Regional beginning at noon on Friday (March 13) in Mankato, Minn.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II Central Region schools and conferences selected the D2CCA all-region teams. Weeter will now move on to the All-American ballot, with selections announced later in the month.
