The Merci Boxcar will be open for tours on Memorial Day following the American Legion Memorial Day service which begins at 10 a.m. Monday May 25 in Veterans Park, 13th and Haney.
The Merci Boxcar was a gift from France after World War II and is operated by the Hays Voiture 1543 Society. The Society of 40 Men and 8 Horses is the veterans group which manages the Merci Boxcar.
People are invited to come and tour the boxcar after the Memorial Day service.
The society invites all veterans to join the 40 and 8, and non-veterans are invited to join the Friends of the Kansas Merci Boxcar and Museum Society.
