A Hays man was arrested in Russell on multiple domestic violence charges after an alleged disturbance involving his wife.
Deputy Hays Police Chief Brian Dawson said 52-year-old Douglas Leon Ray Abel, who has a criminal history, allegedly choked, shoved and attempted to force his wife to perform oral sex on Jan. 11.
Dawson said Abel's wife managed to escape and report the incident from a different location in Hays on Jan. 12.
Abel was located and arrested later that day in Russell by authorities. He was transported and booked into Ellis County Jail on alleged aggravated sexual battery, aggravated domestic battery and criminal threat.
Abel denied the allegations, but evidence such as visible bruises on his wife resulted in his arrest, according to Dawson. Abel was reported to have been drinking alcohol during the incident.
