  The Fort Hays State baseball team wraps up their four-game homestand with a single game against Newman at Larks Park on Tuesday (March 14). First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. This game is the first of three games that the Tigers and Jets will play throughout the course of the season.

The Tigers (9-14) took one out of three games from Rogers State this past weekend. FHSU won the series opener 11-5 before dropping the final two games of the series including a tough 8-7 loss in the rubber match. The Tigers continue to lead the MIAA in sacrifice bunts with 28, while ranking second in batting average (.320), walks drawn (116), and on base percentage (.429), fourth in runs (182), hits (237), and RBI (159), and fifth in doubles (41) and slugging percentage (.486).

Jenner Steele leads the Jets with a .398 batting average collecting 28 RBI on 35 hits including eight home runs. Garrett VanDeventer has made six starts for the Jets posting a 3.65 ERA over 37 innings of work.  

The Tigers are 22-29-1 all-time against Newman after the Jets took two out of three games from the Tigers last season. The Jets have won the last two matchups at Larks Park.
