Per-day virus rate rises in Ellis Co.; 28 new cases identified

The Ellis County Health Department on Monday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days rose slightly from eight on Friday to 10 on Monday.

There were 28 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Friday. There are currently 113 active cases, including nine active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 3,166 recovered cases. 

As of Monday, there were 24 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, up from 22 Friday, with 20 of those cases active and four in the recovery phase.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests fell slightly to 14.2 percent.

Since reporting began, there have been 3,323 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 44 coronavirus-related deaths.

Of the total 18,377 tests administered, 16.9 percent have returned positive for COVID-19.

NOTE: "New cases" reflects cases reported by the Ellis County Health Department between regular reporting periods of Monday, Wednesday and Friday. "Total cases" reflects all cases reported by the department. Because of delayed test results, total cases might include cases prior to the previous reporting period, so the figures might not necessarily correspond.
