Lucile M. Hazlett Retke

Lucile M. Hazlett Retke of Norton, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024, at Logan Manor in Logan KS where she had been a resident since November of 2023. She is survived by her three sons, Dale Jr., John and Mark (Angel) all of Norton County. Also surviving are grandchildren, Matthew (Terry), Kevin and Nicole (Kelly) as well as four great grandchildren, Morgan, Reagan, Keegan and Logan; sisters, Lois Krauss, Gladys Moyer, and Helen Haley (Dwight); brothers, Robert (Kathy), Don (LaCretrica) and Steven. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Sr (2006); parents, Vernie and Eva Hazlett; infant daughter, Ileen and brothers, Vern Jr., John and Orville.

Lucille was born on the Hazlett farm south of Norton on December 13, 1932, the second of 10 children. She graduated from Norton High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Dale O. Retke in 1952 in the Norton Episcopal Church. They resided in Laramie and Kimball NE until 1967 when they moved to Golden, CO where they lived until retirement. Lucile retired from the Colorado School of Mines in 1994. Upon retirement she and Dale returned to Norton County. Lucile was a homemaker, enjoyed her family and living on the farm where she actively helped out until 2022. She also was an accomplished needlework artist.

Cremation was chosen. A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, March 18 at 10:30 am at

Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home, Norton Kansas with Pastor Darlene Sheffer officiating.
