KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MIAA Conference Office has announced its strategic goals for 2020-2021. The conference office recently participated in its annual planning session and the staff identified goals it plans to focus on this academic year.
The goals focus on keeping the Association as one of the top conferences in NCAA Division II by implementing key initiatives from the MIAA Strategic Plan. One of the top priorities for the conference office is to keep the health and well-being of its members at the forefront by achieving Preferred Status with the U.S. Council of Athletes Health. Another goal in this area is for the staff to help implement protocols for Safe MIAA Championship Events and continue to launch the MIAA Risk Management Initiatives set forth by the MIAA Risk Management Task Force last year.
Also, among the priorities is to implement a program or curriculum to enhance Mental Health Resources and develop Life Skills for student-athletes and to facilitate conference culture issues with the newly formed MIAA Community Culture Task Force. 1. Guide the MIAA and its members in intercollegiate athletics during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
2. Implement the first year of the MIAA Strategic Plan.
3. Achieve U.S. Council of Athletes Health Preferred Status with conference education and health assessments.
4. Facilitate conference cultural issues with the new MIAA Community Culture Task Force
5. Explore a program or curriculum for the MIAA to deliver Student-Athlete Mental Health Resources and Life Skills Initiatives.
6. Implement protocols for Safe MIAA Championship Events and continue to launch the MIAA Risk Management Initiatives.
7. Continue to assess current MIAA Associate Members as they progress toward full membership in the Association.
8. Transition The MIAA Network into the next phase of its partnership agreement with Blue Frame Technology.
9. Continue to review the Conference’s Governance Structure, Funding Structure, and Reserve Fund Policies.
10. Continue to monitor the changes in intercollegiate athletics and higher education.
