
Ruby Ruth Feess, 86, of Colby, died Friday, July 3, 2020. She was born
May 16, 1934, in Colby, to John (Ted) and Grace (Chadwick) Griffin. Ruby
graduated from Colby Community High School in 1954 and then attended
Central Business College in Denver before returning to Colby. In the
Fall of 1955, Ruby joined the US Army as part of the Women’s Army Corps,
with postings at Fort Meade, Maryland; Ent Air Force Base, Colorado;
and Orleans, France before her discharge as a Sergeant First Class in
1968. During her time in the service, Ruby married James Robert Feess,
Sr., in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on July 1, 1966. Following her
discharge, Ruby worked for Raytheon for 5 years and then worked for the
4th Judicial District Court, in Colorado, before retiring to stay home
in 1982. She will be remembered for her love of family, always having
one of her dogs at her side, and working in her yard up until her final
days. Ruby was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Thomas County
Historical Society and the Mingo Bible Church.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Jay,
Allen, Ike and Gary; sisters Ethel and Thelma, and one step-son.
She is survived by her sister Connie, many nieces, nephews, great nieces
and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and four step-children.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2020 at Baalmann Mortuary,
Colby. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July
7, 2020, at Beulah Cemetery, Colby. Memorials are suggested to the
Thomas County Historical Society and can be sent in care of Baalmann
