
Mark A. Rome, age 68, of Victoria, Kansas died Thursday, March 3, 2022, at his home. He was born September 2, 1953, in Hays, Kansas to Alvin F. and Dolores M. (Dreiling) Rome. He married Mary Jo Schulte on November 20, 1976, at Victoria, Kansas.
He grew up in Victoria and was a 1971 graduate of Victoria High School. He was an U.S. Army Reserve veteran. He worked many years for Occidental Petroleum and was later a contract pumper. He enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching sports. Mark was a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis and Victoria Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo, of the home; his children, Aaron Rome and wife, Shana, Hays, KS; Andra Cunningham and husband, Preston, Fowler, KS; Jason Rome and wife, Jeanie, Hays, KS; Garret Rome, Gorham, KS; his sisters, Carol Ann Dinkel and husband, Otto Jr., Victoria, KS; Iris Miller, Victoria, KS; his brother-in-law, Ken Gottschalk and wife, Diane, Hays, KS; his grandchildren, Bailey Rome; Trenton Rome; Luke Rome; Kate Cunningham; Abby Cunningham; Adelyn Rome; Carson Rome; and Maxon Rome.
He was preceded in death by his father; his mother; his brother, Larry Rome; his sister, Ethel Gottschalk; his brother-in-law, Marvin Miller; and sister-in-law Pat Rome Harman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 7, 2022, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas with Father Curtis Carlson O.F.M. Cap. and Father James Moster O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Walker, Kansas.
A Vigil Service and a Victoria Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary, Victoria, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary, Victoria, Kansas and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Monday at The Basilica of St. Fidelis.
